After my hair and makeup are done the whole team leaves. I look pretty, but that took far too long. Not worth it in my opinion. Truex tried to pretended to work on his computer, but I could feel him watching me the whole time. "Okay, I can't wait any longer show us the dress." Mya demands, jumping up and down.

He points to the closet. "Its hanging up."

She opens the closet and gasps. "Show me!" I yell, sitting on the bed propped against the headboard. She turns tome with a red strapless dress that has a sweetheart neckline.

"Thats so pretty." I remark, loving the dress.

Truex smiles, looking relieved. "I did good then?"

"You certainly did. I want to wear it somewhere." Mya drools, holding it against herself. "Where did you get it? I want one in my size."

"No idea. A store downtown." He answers, vaguely.

We leave at 6 o'clock and I feel fabulous in this dress. Truex cleans up well, but I'm not surprised. The limo pulls up to the event and I see guardrails and people, lots of people. Truex gets out and comes to my side opening the door. I let him help me out feeling the cold brisk weather pass through my dress.

Emma appears out of thin air and we follow her through the red carpet. We stop at certain spots to have our picture taken and at other areas Truex is asked questions. I remain by his side for the most part, but only because he won't let go of my hand. At a certain point Emma wants him to take a picture with some men that look like they could quite possibly eat me and still be hungry. He tells her no and pulls me with him. I tug on his hand refusing to be a part of his publicity stuff. Finally, I get my way and stand by Emma, she moves away to talk to a photographer and I shift uncomfortably, trying to move without being noticed to the far side of the curtains, out of the way. A tap on my shoulder has me turning to see Easton.

"Hey, I didn't know you'd be here!" I exclaim happily.

He looks at me suprised. "Mya mentioned that you didn't know anything about sports, but I didn't think it was this bad." He chuckles.

I shrug. "Its pretty bad."

"Come take pictures with me. I look like a loser."

"Why would I want to stand next to a loser?" I tease.

"Cute." He replies, pulling me with him.

We pose for some photographs and when we're done I follow him to a set of reporters. A man asks, "Why are you with Easton Butler and not Truex Marshall, whom you showed up with?"

"He doesn't pay me enough. Easton told me he'd double it." I answer, jokingly. "No, I'm kidding. I just felt sorry for Easton because no one said yes to coming with him." I whisper to him, sympathetically.

The man smiles widely. "Thats so sad."

"I know, truly heartbreaking. Even his own mother said, no." I tell him, winking.

"Alright, you're having too much fun." Easton states, pulling me away.

Another reporter asks what he's doing with Truex Marshall's date and he brags, "I stole her from him!" And we move on.

At the next interview we make up a story of falling madly in love and running away together. "Truex is gonna kick your ass for that one." I tell him, laughing.

"I'd be worth it." He smirks.

As we're walking I feel Truex grab my arm. No one but Truex would do that. "Busted!" I yell, "Run! Save yourself!" I yell, to Easton who starts so jog away but turns around grinning and laughing. I look up at Truex smiling. "We're in love, and we don't care who knows it!"

He scowls. Unamused by our behavior, but Easton and I are laughing enough for the three of us. "Can you answer as to why I'm hearing stories about you two being in love and running away together?"

"Who said it was a story?" I tease, winking at Easton.

"Someone is denying our love? They're gonna get it." Easton responds, making a fist with one hand and punching it into the open palm of his other, all while looking around angrily.

"Its not funny. Some people have reputations and things like this are childish." Emma states, unhappy with Easton and I.

"You're right. Truex, definitely pick the wrong date for something like this." I reply, hate being scolded. However, I do see how I might've messed up.

"Obviously. You should go before you embarrass yourself or him anymore." She states, walking away and motioning Truex to follow. He takes my hand and pulls me along with him. I instantly stop him.

"I think she's right, but how do I get out of here?" I question, looking for an escape. I do feel bad, but not that bad. We were just having fun. If I'm an issue, I don't want to be here.

"You're not. I want you here with me, I don't care what she said." He replies, dismissing her.

"Yeah, I'm not going to let her talk to me like that." I tell him.

"She's just doing her job. Its nothing personal."

"Sure." I reply, walking with him, not wanting to draw anymore attention. I see Easton walk with us but I don't say a word. I don't want to negatively affect Truex and his image. By the time we get through all the press I want to scream. I have never been silent for so long. I tell Truex I have to use the restroom and go to the bar.

The reporter from earlier slides up next to me. "You and Easton really livened things up with your antics."

"Yeah, sorry about that." I apologize.

"Don't. It was hysterical." He chuckles.

"I got in trouble for it." I tell him honestly.

He laughs and orders a gin and tonic. "How long have you been together?"

I give him the side eye. "I might be dumb, but not that dumb. You're not getting a story out of me."

"Please?" He begs. "He is so closed off. His fan base is thirsty for gossip on him."

"Sorry." I apologize, again. Walking away with my second martini. I wander around aimlessly until I find Emma glaring at me from across the room. I roll my eyes and walk back the way I came.

"I've been looking everywhere for you. They're seating us." Truex says, taking my elbow he guides me into a elaborate ballroom filled with tables, flowers, and chairs. We're seated close to the stage and I watch the seats start to fill in. "Its begins at

8. They'll serve dinner before the show. Are you hungry?"

"Not really." I respond distractedly, looking around the room.

"You're angry." He notices.

"No, just tired. Why did you ask me to come?" I question him. He seems to get my personality, he had to have known I'd feel uncomfortable.

"Because, I wanted you here."

"Why did you want me here?" I inquire, needing more of an explanation than that.

His eyes search mine as I look at him. "I have fun with you, thats why."

Servers start to go to each table with food and drinks. I get a tap on my shoulder and look up at Emma. "No more drinks tonight. I don't want to have to pour you into a cab too." She demands.

I lean close so only she can hear me. "Tell me not to do something. I'll do it twice and take pictures." I whisper.

Easton pulls out the chair next to me. "Getting yelled at again? How can you be that bad?" He laughs.

"I don't know, but if she tells we what I can and cant do one more time, I'm gonna snap."

"Emma, just go." Truex orders. When she leaves he says, "She is just trying to make sure nothing bad happens tonight."

I glare at him. "Don't ask me to anything she's apart of ever again. Literally, the worst date I've ever had and we haven't even ate yet!"

"Seriously?" He questions.

"Yes, I don't know what you two had going or have going? But she hates me." I tell him, completely convinced she wants me away from him. I know a jealous female when I see one.

"No, never." He denies, angry that I would assume they had a relationship.

Easton leans forward to look at Truex. "I'm sorry. None of my business, but that chick is jealous of Briar and you're the reason. Might want to address it. That's all I'm going to say." He states, then leans back in his chair.

"So, you noticed it too?" I turn to ask him.

He nods, dramatically. "It was very obvious to me."

"I'll talk to her tomorrow." Truex says, looking pensive.

"Don't do it on my account. If she's good at her job, keep her happy. I'll get through the night." I reply, understanding his dilemma.

He looks pensively. So I ignore him, not wanting to fight about her, in the end it's not worth it. We eat and the shows starts shortly after. Its intense when they call the names of the nominees, you can practically feel the anticipation in the room. When Truex Marshall is mentioned I look at him stunned and grab his hand nervously. Minutes later they open the envelope and call his name. I freak out, leaning over to kiss his cheek.

He accepts the award and thanks his fellow players and coaches. He keeps it short and sweet and I clap along with the rest of the audience.

Ten minutes later he's pulling out his chair and I look up at him. "How can you be so calm? I nearly died when they called your name." I tell him, as he sits back down. He smiles, I don't know if he's gloating or thinks my excitement it funny. Either way I'm so happy for him.

By the time the night is over Truex has won three awards for various things. I jump every time he wins feeling like a huge dork, but so proud of him. The night was a lot better after he called off Emma and her bossy ways. We did have a good time and we consoled Easton when he lost in his category. I pretended to cry with him while Truex rolled his eyes at our horrible acting.

Getting into the waiting limo I'm exhausted and my cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing so much.

"That was fun." I comment. "Ended way better than it started. Thanks for bringing me." I say, honestly.

"Thank you for coming." He replies.

"Thanks for the bed." I counter.

"Thanks for what I'm going to do to you on that bed." He states, wickedly.

My mouth drops, but no words come out.
