'Can we talk with this boy?' asked Abhay. The photo had startled both Madhav and Abhay.
'As of I remember, I never saw him with the group but...' before he could complete, Amarendra came inside.
'Sir, Gopal is here as you had asked.' informed Amarendra.
'Thank you, send him in and give me an update on the forensic reports.' ordered Madhav.
'This is getting out of hand. Abhay, you have to wait for some time while I deal with Gopal.'
Gopal entered the room. 'Sir, you wanted to see me.'
Madhav started, 'Where is May and Rajesh? I don't want the same answer.'
'Sir, we have still not been in touch with them. I was planning to send someone to their villages to check on them.' said Gopal in a feeble tone.
'Do you realise I can put you in jail for obstructing an active investigation by providing false statements? Roared Madhav. Abhay sat in the corner and looked at Gopal.
'I don't understand, sir.' said Gopal.
Madhav repeated the entire story of what he heard from Charan Singh and D'Souza. Gopal was shocked. Beads of sweats started to appear on his forehead. He wiped his forehead with his handkerchief. He drank water from the glass kept in front of him and did not say anything. 'Speak up, Gopal.' roared Madhav.
'I did not know how to tell you. A few days ago, I received a letter from May saying that she had to go to her village immediately and would be back in a few days. After some days, I received another letter from Rajesh saying the same thing. So, I decided to show it to Sibashish sir. He went through it and called them both. But their numbers were off. So, he asked me to not to inform about them to anyone. A few days ago, we came to know that they were not in the village. We suspected something bad has happened, but we kept on searching. We were also actually surprised by knowing that Rajesh had moved on from the village many years ago. I think this was the time he came to the city and joined us. He never spoke anything about his family. I am sorry, sir. We did not mean to hide anything, but we never thought that we would be involved in such a situation.' said Gopal with tears in his eyes.
'I need to speak to Sibashish also. Next time think twice before lying to the police. Now, can you tell me who is this boy in the picture?' enquired Madhav pointing at the boy with the blue eyes in the picnic photo.
'That's Raghu. The boy who has been missing from some time. We have been searching for him from the day he went missing.' informed Gopal.
Abhay and Madhav looked at each other in disbelief. The situation in which they both saw Raghu suggests only one thing.
'We need to go to the house.' Madhav informed Abhay after he shared his experience in the attic.
Abhay agreed to it. When they were starting to move, the forensic reports arrived. 'We have to see it. I hope we get more clarity on it.'
As per the reports, the fire was started in the house. So, this would rule out the fire accident. There were marks of petrol all over suggesting the method of starting the fire. Some bodies were found which were charred beyond recognition. From what they could recognise, there was one body of an adult and five bodies of children. It was difficult for them to identify the bodies due to lack of DNA samples. Bloodstains were found in the children's rooms were the bodies were found—detailed report to be sent.

'It is horrifying. How could someone think of doing it?' said a shaken Abhay.
Madhav was silent all the way they reached the house. The house looked even more deserted. The burnt walls displayed a horrifying art. The windows were open. Glass pieces were shattered all around. They moved past the 'Do not enter' symbol. Madhav unlocked the door.
A pungent odour filled the house. It was a strong odour. They covered their noses with their handkerchiefs and moved ahead. The air around them was cold. The walls looked darker than the last time, thought Madhav. Abhay could sense that he had been in this place earlier. 'I have been in this place earlier. The rooms on the first floor are the rooms for the children.' Madhav agreed to it. Nowadays, it did not come as a surprise for Madhav when Abhay told stuff which was never mentioned to him.
Abhay described the events he had seen. As he mentioned about a lady, Madhav was suspicious. But he decided to hear it out completely. After that, Madhav shared his experience in the attic. He informed Abhay that the mysterious boy he saw in the attic was Raghu. 'Did you also see Raghu in this attic?' enquired Madhav.
'No, I never got a chance to see inside of the attic. I saw him in the room upstairs?' informed Abhay.
'But I am still confused why was Raghu addressing himself in your first vision?' Madhav asked him in confusion.
'Maybe he was giving me the indication about himself? But if that is the case, I think Raghu is not missing, he is already dead.' informed Abhay.
His mobile rang. It was Vipul calling. Abhay had messaged him to meet him here. 'Yes, Vipul. Have you reached?'
With it, Vipul joined them. Abhay filled him with all the details. 'Let's check the attic once again and sir, I think now as you have ruled out the option of this being a fire accident, a full house swipe should be done. Isn't it?' said Vipul.
'You are right, but most importantly, I should have the outhouse and the entire backyard checked.' informed Madhav.
With it, Madhav called the force to come to the spot while Abhay and Vipul moved inside the attic.
Madhav stayed outside, waiting for the team to come. He was checking the backyard for any clues.
The attic was dark. Both of them moved in different directions. The flashlight of both the mobiles were on. They heard a small creaking sound. They turned around and saw each other in front of each other. They were startled but moved again in their directions. Vipul reached a corner where the sack was lying. He bent down to see it when he saw a pair of feet covered in dust and blood. He looked upon and fell on seeing the boy with the blue eyes. His face was now half burnt, half-covered with dirt and blood. 'Abhay.' he shouted. Suddenly both their flashes stopped working. They could hear a loud cry inside the attic.
'Vipul... Vipul.' shouted Abhay. There was no response. The cry echoed all over. Abhay started to run on the other side of the corner. He found Vipul lying on the floor. He was trembling. 'Vipul... Vipul, can you listen to me?' There was no response. The feet appeared again. It moved slowly towards Abhay. The blue eyes shone in the darkness. Abhay could feel the air around him turn cold. He felt a cold hand touching his neck. He sat without moving around. The hand moved around his neck for some time. The half-burnt face came near him and whispered, 'Dead... all dead.' Suddenly at that time, Madhav opened the door, and a ray of light fell on Abhay and Vipul. Abhay looked around, and he saw no one. Abhay and Madhav looked at each other. They knew it.

They brought Vipul outside and sprinkled water on him. As he came to senses, he trembled as he spoke, 'I saw a... a boy. He... He...'
'We know, Vipul. We have also seen him. I also had the same experience when I saw him for the first time.' informed Madhav.
'Listen, now you both have to leave. The search teams would be here at any moment. We can meet later and discuss.' said Madhav.
Before leaving, Abhay told them, 'That boy was trying to say something. I could only hear the word 'Dead' when you opened the door. I think this is some indication.'
'This may be our second indication that Raghu is dead, and we have to look into it.' informed Madhav.
Abhay helped Vipul get up. They started to move towards the door. A pair of eyes were looking at them from the window of the room on the first floor. Madhav bid them farewell and waited for the team to arrive.
In a few minutes, a line of vehicles arrived. The search party came out with their equipments. The sniffer dogs were let in. Some of the members circled the house and started searching. Some entered the house with their equipments. Madhav stood outside and kept on looking at the search party. At the same time, his mind started thinking about the different angles of murder.
Abhay and Vipul sat in silence as they drove away from the house towards their home.
The boys were shifted to their new house. They all stayed in a single room. They did not speak to anyone. The gloom of sadness overshadowed the mood among the boys. No one talked with the other boys in the house. They always stayed inside the room and never spoke with anyone.
Gopal was worried and informed Sibashish about it. 'I am worried about the boys. I don't know how they would react when they realise other things.'
'How would they know? Who will tell them?' I am not going to tell them. Are you, Gopal?' A stern voice of Sibashish warned Gopal over the phone.
'No, sir. I would never tell them. But how to bring them to be normal?' asked Gopal.
'Arrange for an outing for them so that it would help them to come out of this mood and forget about all of it. Meanwhile, I will take care of other things.' With it, the line got disconnected and, Gopal moved to plan for the outing.
It was raining heavily. Heavy lightning struck followed by loud thundering which shook the earth. Deepak could not sleep. He kept on staring at the window. The lightning flash reflected on the glass panes, and the thundering vibrated the window. He could hear the violent sound made by the wind as it shook the massive trees all around the house. The trees made some terrifying shadows as the wind shook it. The shadow felt on the windowpanes, and it looked like a hunched man with big nails crawling its way into the room. Deepak was looking at the window with a terrified look. Suddenly as there was a flash on the sky, he saw a dark shadow standing inside the room in front of his bed. In a flash, it vanished, and the trees again started playing with their shadows. Deepak screamed in fear. 'What happened, Deepak? Asked Rakesh rubbing his eyes.
Everyone got up from their beds and stood around Deepak while he explained what he saw. 'You must be dreaming, Deepak. There is no one here. I know we all have been through tough times, but I can assure you there is nothing or no one here. If you are feeling afraid, you can go and sleep on my bed.' assured Rakesh.
Deepak still believed that he saw someone, and it was not a dream. He slept on his bed while the others retired to their beds. As the light was switched off, and the light snoring of some of the boys filled the room, Deepak slowly removed his head from the blanket and stared at the window. To his horror, he saw the same shadow standing near the window. The shadow was dipped in blood as the floor had already turned red. The shadow looked like a small boy. The shadow did not move from that spot. As the lightning struck once again, in the flash, the shadow vanished, but Deepak could see something was scribbled on the glass. 'I was killed.'
The next morning, the sun took over. The sunny rays provided warmth after the heavy rains. The boys got ready for the outing. They boarded the bus as it moved towards the theme park. Gopal had planned for a day's outing for the boys. As the bus drove towards the park, it crossed their old house. They could see their old house burnt down in the fire. The whole place looked deserted and covered with police signs. The eyes of the boys filled up with tears as they saw their old house, which they could never come back. It had some good memories and some bad memories also.
They reached the park. The energy and the excitement around the park drowned their sadness, and in no time, all the boys were involved in all the rides. The roller coaster ride was their main attraction as the boys rode it again and again. Everyone was happy, but they all missed the other boys. Deepak, even though he was enjoying the rides, he was lost in the thought about last night. He knew he saw someone he knew. He kept on thinking, and finally, he closed his eyes as the ride elevated itself to the top before taking a deep plunge into the water. As the ride started to slide down, everyone shouted in joy as Deepak's eyes opened in fear as he realised, he knew whom he saw. I saw Raghu.
Madhav was moving around the house as the forensic team was screening the entire house. With the discovery of new information, the scene was again screened by the team. A team was screening the outhouse for clues. The other group was asked to screen the attic. Even though Madhav knew the crime scene was contaminated, but still any evidence he would get would help him in solving the case.
The outhouse was filled with old and broken items from the house. As the team opened the door, layers of dust flew in the air, and some dust particles which came in the path of the sun rays shone like small pieces of diamond. The sun rays brought in freshness to the attic. The team spread across, looking for things of interest related to crime.
The other team opened the attic and moved in. Madhav stood near the door while the team started the search. There was no light in the room. The team used their searchlights to walk through the room and look for clues. The room reeked of rotten flesh. They started looking all around.
The team looked around the attic when suddenly someone found an old canister which had stains of petrol in it. A burnt matchbox was lying around. They collected it. It had traces of petrol in it which seemed fresh. They did an entire swipe many times but could not find anything more rather than many fingerprints all over. That was probably of the children and the staff who used to live here.
The team in attic hit the jackpot. As they kept on moving on different sides, a member of the team found something on the floor. He focussed his light on it and found it to be dried blood. There were drops of dried blood in that place. Immediately a red flag was raised. The team set up lights and started searching the site. The dried blood was collected. It was near the sack where Madhav had seen the boy with the blue eyes. As they scanned around, they found a torn shirt at a corner. It had blood on it. The shirt looked as it was of an adult. They looked for any weapon or any other clues. The teams looked for any evidence which would indicate whether anything is buried inside there. The other group was looking in the backyard for any clues. The entire house was again being screened for any clues.
In the backyard, they found a piece of the apron which was stuck in the thorns of the bushes. Behind the outhouse, they found broken bits of glasses which was a part of specs. On observing closely, drops of dried blood were attached to the thorny side of the bush. It may be of the killer. They collected it. The search went on for hours, and some items were collected, sampled and taken back to the laboratory.
'We will try to analyse it as soon as possible. We will send you the report by tomorrow morning.' the head of the team informed Madhav as he left in his car after shaking hands with Madhav.
Madhav stood in front of the house and looked at it. The pair of blue eyes shone from the window on the first floor.
Abhay moved around the hall inside his house. He kept on thinking about Raghu. 'I think it's not just Raghu; someone else was also killed in that house.'
'How do we find out?' questioned Vipul still reeling over his incident with the spirit.
'I think the place can answer many questions, but I think without the support of Madhav sir, we can't go inside.' answered Abhay.
'So, what do we do? Should we talk to him?' asked Vipul.
'No, we wait. Let's do one thing. We both will go there tonight. I think the police must have completed their work.' said Abhay.
The light of the moon filled the night with its cool light. The hooting of the owl filled the area. The shining eyes from the bushes moved around the place. They parked the SUV in the far corner of the street. The hooting of the owl grew louder as they moved near the house. There was a strange chilliness as they entered the house from the backyard. Suddenly something flew past them, and they were startled. A bat flew in front of them. As they reached near the outhouse, he felt something inside. Vipul opened the outhouse and went inside.
Suddenly Abhay heard a sound inside the house, and he ran inside. The door was unlocked as he went inside. There was darkness all around. As he entered the kitchen, he sensed a chill behind him. He turned around slowly, and there was no one behind him. The backyard door was open, which let the cold wind inside. As he turned around, he tried to scream, but no sound came out of him as a bloodied face with long dirty hair falling over her face screamed at him. Saliva was dripping from her face as the bloodied face moved near Abhay. Her clothes were covered in blood as Abhay could see her throat was slit, and there were various wound marks around her body from where blood was coming out. The spirit shrieked so loudly that Abhay closed his ears and eyes so as not to look at her. Abhay shouted in fear as a hand patted him. It was Vipul.
'I... I saw a woman.' With it, Abhay explained what he saw. Suddenly the room turned dark, and flashes of lightning covered the room. They looked around and saw the entire house was in order. They slowly moved towards the hall through the corridor when they heard a loud scream from the top. As they turned around to go, they saw the house was dark again, and there was no way to go up. As they stood below, they saw a stream of blood flowing from upstairs and started to drip downwards. The house again was in a tattered state. Nothing was in order. They tried to switch on their lights, but it did not work.
'Let me try to go out from the backyard.' said Vipul as he moved towards the kitchen when he was hit by something and fell on the floor.
Abhay was still in shock as he was looking at the top where the blood was flowing. Slowly he could hear faint footsteps as he could see a pair of small feet coming ahead. He saw him... the boy with the blue eyes, all bloodied up and raising his hand forward, asking for help. Suddenly he saw a tall hooded guy coming from behind and slitting the throat of the boy. Abhay shouted in anxiety, but as he looked around to go up, the room turned silent. He took time to come to his normal senses and found Vipul getting up from the floor. His head was bleeding.
'What happened Vipul?' questioned Abhay.
'I don't know. Suddenly as I reached the kitchen, someone hit me hard on my head, and I fell down. My vision was blurred when I could sense who it was. I tried to get up, but the pain took over me. I tried to call you, but you could not hear me.' informed Vipul.
'I think the person who is involved in all of it was here. Maybe he knows that we are getting clues to get him. We should inform Madhav sir as soon as possible.' There was a shine in the eyes of Abhay as they were getting close to solve the case.
With it, Abhay ignited the engine as they moved towards their house, deciding to speak to Madhav in the morning.
