《The Third Word》Chapter 1

THE THIRD WORD
Internet connects the whole world. A person from the North Pole can text, call, or video call a person living in the South Pole by downloading an App. Amazing, isn't it?
Well not for me. Internet became my worst nightmare.
I was just a teenage girl, living a very normal life, or not. I was in my last year of High School. Although I got good grades and had loving parents, what I didn't have were friends. For a few years, until I was 15, I used to think that having friends wasn't a life process anyway so it was okay not to have friends, but ever since I turned 17, I was called different names like 'loner' and 'outcast.' I needed to make at least one friend.
After a lot of attempts of making friends and failing every time, I at least had someone who ate with me during lunch. Stace. She was a new student and kind-hearted. She had friends but they didn't like the canteen food and always went out to eat, leaving Stace behind, which is why she accompanied me to lunch. Trust me, it was only a week since we had started eating together and we already got used to each other.
I wish I had never met her.
Two Years Ago-
1st November
"Come on! You can't be a bore for your whole life." Stace said while sitting opposite to me at the table, in the canteen.
"But that's going too far okay? I'd rather be a bore my whole life." I reasoned myself.
"You're going to regret this." She said with disappointment and sipped on her coffee.
"Stace look, I'm not THAT desperate to have friends and I have you." I said.
"Me? Oh god, Gwen. You know we only meet here and I'm in a different class already. I just don't want you to be a loner alright? At this age, you're supposed to have a BOYFRIEND but you don't even have a FRIEND." She said.

"Okay." I put my hands on the table," What do you want me to do?"
"You know it already. Ethan is the most popular guy. Go talk to him." She suggested.
"You- Are you making fun of me? You even mentioned he's the school hunk. You're looking down on me." I said.
"You don't have the guts to do it, just say so." She said.
"Why him? Why not some simple guy? I just need a friend." I said.
"Come on, he's awesome okay? Don't you know about him?" she asked and I shook my head. She didn't know that I knew a lot about Ethan already.
I mean, I would know about someone whom I had admired since two years, wouldn't I?
"Damn. He's the best student in his grade and he's not egoistic because of his attractiveness. He doesn't even talk much but if you manage to be his friend, everyone will run after you to be friends with you." She said.
"Are you selling a product or something?" I laughed," I have seen him once or twice but from a distance. Doesn't he have a brother? I could approach him instead." I said, blabbering whatever shit was coming in my head to prevent her from getting suspicious of me.
"Don't even think about it. He's the exact opposite of Ethan. He doesn't talk with his mouth but hands." She said.
The lunch break got over so we headed back to our classes and didn't talk about it for a few days.
Honestly, I was interested in Ethan but I didn't have the guts to talk to him. I couldn't talk to any guy without looking down. I was really shy and felt awkward whenever I had to face guys.

Hey there fellow readers~
I know you're going to complain about how short the chapters are, which I know, is a problem. But I request you to have some patience. I had my reasons to make the chapters short but in later chapters I've increased the length.
Thanks for reading my story.
A vote and few comments are much appreciated!

Binary Soul
So let's say there's this girl. A young girl who happens to be a highly-trained, psionically-gifted, nanite-infused, genetically-enhanced and emotionally unstable assassin that doesn't know the concept of 'mercy' or 'holding back.' Let's say she and her imaginary friend miraculously pass through the borders of reality into an alternate universe, crash landing into a world of swords and magic aboard a starship full of high-tech wonders. Now, let's also say the first person this borderline psychopath meets happens to be her doppelganger - a highly gifted mage who happens to have a few problems of her own, like a bad temper or a bad habit of chronic self-delusion. With me so far? Good. Now, what's the on the agenda for these two different people who happen to be the same person? Settle down, start a family and thoroughly enjoy life. Maybe get married and have some kids. How about befriending a violent alcoholic or defeating an ancient evil being? Perhaps kill a few dragons and wreck a city along the way. Anything can happen around the city of Runetap, after all. It's a place where bizarre and strange things occur on an almost weekly basis. The people living there have long abandoned silly things like common sense or minding the details. A giant flaming UFO streaks above the city in broad daylight? That's just another Tuesday. The City Guard even had the form for that, so believe me when I say this. It's your loss if you mind it. This is the light-hearted and fluffy tale of Ellie and Kira as they forge their own path of absurdity and crazyness across a world that often makes little sense. Loosely inspired by the Discworld series of books by Terry Pratchett, even though the author hasn't actually read any of them. Contains yuri, mature themes and the author's personal views on several subjects. Explicit content is kept to a minimum.Does NOT contain slavery, rape, drugs or any other similarly heavy themes.

The Edge of Endless
Due to some unforseen and significant life events, this story will be on hiatus for a time. Reborn into a strange but familiar world, Alex makes it his mission to uncover the mysteries of governments, gods, and the arcane realm known only (and inaccurately) as the Unending Depths. Slowly but surely, he grows in ability and meets new and interesting people. tEoE is an epic fantasy LitRPG with a focus on plot, writing, and hopefully original twists on the standard formula of 'MC picks cool class, levels up'. Give it a read if any of the following appeals to you: > 3000-5000 words per chapter, chapters released at least once per week, usually several times. Expect good grammar. > Story focus on illusions, secrets, and traps (along with the usual combat and character stuff). > Progression fantasy, but one where progress is meant to feel earned, moderately paced, and reasonable. Some advantages, but not big, unfair ones. > If a random reader can work out that putting a big rock in a bag of holding, lifting it, and then dropping the rock is free energy, then so could an adventurer who's owned a bag of holding for twenty years. Side characters have brains too. > Blue boxes! Levels! [Classes]! [Skills]! Loot! > No uncomfortable sexist undertones. Ambivalent about including relationships. Definitely no harems. There are a number of arcs planned and this will be ongoing for some time. I am very appreciative of the kind reviews and comments left so far.

The World Must Fall
Monsters, in this case a human in sheep's clothing. An imposter, someone less than human. That is what Alex is. Alex isn't human, more specifically he lacks the features to make him one. He has no remorse when killing, no humanity. Worst of all he takes pleasure in what he does. But when given the chance to slaughter more, he takes it, and is transported to another world to run free. He will watch the world burn, and he WILL take pleasure in it.Are you interested in reading the antics of a serial killer?____Authors note :Just some head up for readers. I don't find interest in romance, nor do I find interest in supposed 'evil-protaganists' that aren't evil in the slightest. I say this to you as an avid reader of such stories, you will not get an evil protagonist that turns good, nor gets some side character to follow him around and befriend him.___This will contain R-18 themes and as such be warned. It will have gore, violence, and intense scenes. Be warned and have fun

Soulseeker
Placed on the northern hemisphere the Sea of Ember is a world of ice and stone, a land of fire and storms.Uncanny tempests sweep across the rocky terrain, rising and spreading ashes from dozens of active volcanoes disseminated everywhere in the continent. However, during winter, sudden snowstorms, almost as lethal as the rivers of magma scorching this plagued realm, turn the land into a literal hell. That's when Lithoniel's journey begins, during the last weeks of Spring. It should have been a hunting expedition, a short trip not far from the tribe's territory.Yet, when the Nightstalker, the tribe's chief hunter, decides to bring them in an unexplored area of the Asp ridge, Lithoniel has to decide if she can be something different from the outcast she had been for all her life. But can a fledgling hunter, an outsider in her own tribe be a leader? Warning: The grimdark tag is there for a reason. This is a dark tale and the author is a sadist. (which inevitably means that the characters are masochists. Well, it's not like they have a choice.)
