The chattiest of them all said.
'Yuh know man weh cyaa shut up and just chat dung ee place fi no fucking reason??? Yeah man, a dissa man ya. Man can chat yuh fuck!'
I was deeply annoyed by the voices, the absense of food, the heat, the mosquitoes, the stench, the whole fucking fact 'seh mi deh ya so when mi coulda deep dung inna C!'
'Bombo pussy rassclaat man! Is like all mi a rock, di chair naa loosen up to pussyclaat and mi strength a fade weh!'
"Nuh di gyal dawg! And she and a pickney fa'awud inna waan bumbo claat hype car deh... can see is anadda money man dat she tek up eno! den when mi look is a well sharp nigga step outta ...." another voice interrupted.

"Yeah man chat wa inna yuh intention man! Just gwaan talk and see wa reach yuh!" The weed head replied.
The arguing continued until it sounded as if they were fighting, I could hear the foot steps of the other men running to part them and the laughter of some.
'Fully dunce sqaud dem ... real wasteman'
Somehow the words of the 'Tory man' echoed in my brain.
'Di man in deh so ooman.... pull up inna hype car wid man and pickney! A wa di bombohole C a deal wid?'
The hallucinations started to kick in and I could see Casidy cozying up with a man, right infront my fucking eyes.
'Mi ago mash him up!' I rocked so hard that the chair caved in and I fell to the floor.
Casidy's POV
I felt really awkward watching Mummy flirt away like that but I tried gushing down some liquor to help me get through the night.
We were finished with the awards and I was to give speech to close that segment so we could get on to 'the nyamings' part of the event.
"Now, unfortunately, Mr. Whyte couldn't make it tonight. But fear not, we still have another crowd favourite here to give her remarks." The MC spoke. "Thats right! Now this young lady is sucessful..."

"Yes!" The crowd remarked, with none other than Kelly's voice dominating.
"She is down to earth..."
"I know thats right!" She yelled again.
'A waan fling sittn lick har essi!'
"And I must say, she is beautiful and blazing hot" the MC continued and fanned. "Lawd gee, unu no badda report mi to HR! Oh wait... she is HR!" He joked as the crowd burst into laughter.
"A go tell bossy !" Leonard, a trucker shouted.
"Yuh know wa mi ready fi gaa mi yard!" The MC turned to walk off the stage , then turned and laughed.
'Man this guy is funny!'
"Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys..... bwoii mi feel like a valedictorian up here" He engaged the crowd by gesturing his hands up and down. "Please put your hands together and help me welcome Miss Casidy Brown.... uuhhhh-em.... Whyte!"
The 'Ooohs' and 'Ahhhs' filled the room.
"I mean Brown! Give it up for Miss Brown everyone!"
The applause sonified the auditorium as M&M pulled my chair out for me. I rose to my feet and felt a little light headed, but he held me in place. A feeling of nausea came over and the only thing I could think to do was to head for the bathroom and thats exactly what I did!
The appluse died down as I ran towards the exit. I could hear the chattering as I made my way through the door. By the time I was halfway through the hallway, I heard the devil himself.
"Good evening everyone, I am..."
'The nerve of this fucking man!'
The vomit was already in my mouth and I reached just in time to dispense it into the toilet. The door behind me burst open and Kelly ran to my side.
"Baxide Casidy, a wa do yuh?" She said while holding my hair back.
I went on until nothing but air was coming up. I've never felt this sick since my pregnancy with Charity. But then again, its impossible because I made sure of that, so it must've been the bag of junk I was eating today combined with the liquor.
I went over to the sink and looked at myself. Kelly held out a glass of water and I had to laugh.
"Den gyal yuh really tek off di people dem glass offa di table cya come inna di bathroom? Yuh sick?"
"So if mi see yuh out fi vomit up ee place den a wa else mi fi do? Go buy bottle water? " she laughed. " Oh, no... mi shoulda seh, oh waiter! Bring a jug of water to the bathroom please."
'Watch extra!'
"Come, tek this man!" She said handing me the glass.
'Shit ! Charity!'
"Char..." I attempted to say.
"Tp deh a the table wid har man, she good!"
I rinsed my mouth out, then sipped slowly on the water.
"How yuh feel?" She asked.
"A little bit better thanks"
"Casidy, yuh sure?" She stared concernly at me.
"Yes Kelly, Mi sure... a just the bag a things wa mi eat tideh a upset mi stomach!"I reassured her, while washing my hand and retrieving some paper towel.

"Ok... if yuh seh so"
We straightened up our selves then made our way back to a room filled with confusion.
"That one Uncle that can't hold his liqour!" The MC said while pouting his mouth toward John.
'Yes! Di plan a work.'
I stared over to Mummy, who winked in response.
'Thank you Jesus!'
"Anyways, Mi feel peckish deh.... so waiters and waitresses, unu run di food deh!" Said Mr. MC and the applause was louder than ever.
Bethany did a wonderful job, from the MC to the decor and by the smell of it, the catering too.
Reign's POV
This burst of energy just came about out of nowhere and I was almost done cutting the rope with the shattered glass. I could feel the splinters sinking further into my flesh but I just had to cut myself loose.
The men outside were still at it, no doubt about it, a big war a pop out deh, which was the perfect distraction from me.
My hands were bloody and as shaky as ever but I just had to carry on and finally, the hand ties were loose. And now for the foot!
Casidy's POV
The refills kept on going over to mummy's table as planned. John was talking as loud as ever, sweating like a hog and his face was as shine as a looking glass. It never really took that much to get him tipsy, as Mummy would've said, 'Ole rumhead, as dem smell di rum dem drunk lakka bat..' and this was proving to be a fact.
'Splash!'
A glass slipped from their table and that was my queue. I rose from my table, clutching Charity by my side and walked over to their table, directly behind mummy's chair. I then stooped to pick charity up, well John's phone rather then walked over to Kelly's table. Kelly took Charity and I went to the bathroom once more. I knew it wouldn't be long before he missed it so I'd have to move fast.
I scanned through his call logs and his massages and it was all blank. So I decided to access his most frequent locations since the past two days, which was the hotel and another location in falmouth. All my instincts lead to that place.
'Mi lucky him no dat tech savy! Mmmmm... a try cover him tracks, but yuh cyaan more dan mi!'
It was time to get the phone back to mummy, so I washed my hands and walked briskly back to the auditorium. There was a loud commotionwith John and a waiter I couldn't hear clearly but I am sure I heard him say the word phone!
'Shit! Think, think, think, think Casidy!' I tried to come up with a solution. 'Oh yes! Got it!'
I walked over to the catering area and slipped the phone on one of the long tables bearing condiments, prepared a plate and went back to my table.
'I have to slip away right now! Cyaan wait no longer.'
With that one thought in my head, I whispered in M&M's ear and we both went to retrieve the car. After driving out I rang Kelly.
"Hey a weh yuh deh Casidy?" Kelly questioned.
"Mi on mi way to the place. So I just wanna let you know to keep charity safe. And if anything happens to me, I know you and mummy will take good care of Charity."
"What the fuck Casidy... dat a neva di plan! Wi did fi wait fi..." she said a bit angrily.
"Kelly mi cyaan wait pon dat! I have to go get him now, while di johncrow distracted!" I counter argued.
"But yuh alone cyaan go! Yuh no know wa yuh ago run up inna eno... and no offense but a knock out punch won't do this time!"
"M&M deh here wid mi, so nuh worry! Mi alright.... mi just need fi go get mi man before ..." I tried not to think about it. " Cho! Mi a go fi mi man!"
"Share yuh location so mi can send TP fi back up!" She begged.
"Ok.."
"Casidy be Care..." I hung up before ny emotions took the best of me. I quickly shared my location and put my phone on silent then tucked it under the seat, so If they found us, well they couldn't destroy the phone.
When we reached Lilliput, M&M asked me to hold on tight and made a U turn. Then went up a hill and shut the lights off. He drove into a yard and parked beside a truck so that the car would be hidden from any passersby.
He quickly covered it with a tarp and we switch to a Probox and headed towards Falmouth. I directed him to the exact location that was on John's phone. He drove carefully past while we scouted out how many persons were out front of the old house.
There seemed to be something going on with them and as we drove by I realized that two men seemed to be fighting and the others cheering them on
'What the fuck!'
"Dem man ya a joke to pussyclaat!" M&M said as he took his glock from the glove compartment. If it was any other time I would've been so frightened but this time, I was ready for anything and I really meant 'anything!'
He pulled over a distance from the house and said, "Stay ya so Casey ... mi soon come back!"
"Excuse mi? Mi a come! And don't even think yuh can stop mi!"
"Ere mi no, is eeda yuh one go out deh or mi alone.... but mi and yuh naa go no weh!" I could tell he wasn't playing. "Anything happen to yuh ago deh pon my hands and mi cyaan go ansa to Bossy fi dat."
Reign would have a fit seeing me here in the car, muchless out there in danger, so as much as I would've liked to be there , I had to stay here and give an eye out for trouble.

Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
