《You Saw Right Through Me》Paper Stars

Your eyes flickered open and you saw the ground... many feet below you. "Agh!" YOU quickly moved away from the edge of the roof and looked around. "Oh yeah... I was up here with-"
Your eyes widened. "Kokichi!" Staring down at the ground, you searched the ground in hopes that you wouldn't find anything. Thankfully, you didn't, but it didn't stop your rapid heartbeat. "Goodness gracious." You whispered as you put your hand on your chest.
"Hey Y/N?" You glanced at the door to the roof and saw Shuichi in the doorway. "Ah, Shuichi. What's up?"
"Genesis is looking for you."
"Okay! I'm coming."
You stood up and walked into the building with Shuichi. When you got to the dining hall, you saw Genesis crying at the dining table. "Genesis! What's wrong?" You ran over to her and knelt down in front of her.
She sniffled and wiped her tears. "The guy with the bulky hair told me that I was going to leave..." You looked at Hajime and Makoto. "Bulky hair?" You snickered.
"I can see where Kokichi's personality came from." Hajime sighed. You looked at Genesis. "Well, yeah, you'll have to go some time. This place isn't safe for a little girl like you. But you'll make plenty of friends where you're going!"
She looked at you with glossy eyes. "B-but you won't be there." Kokichi, who was sitting across the table, leaned back in his chair. "Yeah, a place without Y/N is a depressing place."
"Kokichi, you're not making this any better!" Mahiru scolded. "Could you quit flirting!"
Kokichi snickered and you sighed. "Genesis, you'll see me again. But where you're going, you'll be able to see if we can find your parents. Right Makoto?"
Makoto nodded. "Byakuya runs the place, so he'll be able to see if she belongs to anyone there from his records." You gave Genesis a comforting smile as she wiped away her tears once more.
.
.
.
It came the day that Genesis was supposed to leave, and she hadn't left your side the whole day. You hung out with her for the rest of the time she was there, and she had a blast... which is why it hurt to say goodbye at the end of the day.

"I don't wanna leave!" She sobbed with her head in your chest. You chuckled and stroked her hair. "Don't worry! It's not like I'll be gone forever! We'll see each other again."
She wiped her eyes as Makoto peeked his head out of the helicopter. "We've gotta go before it gets too dark." She gave you one last big hug before hopping on the helicopter and flying off.
You gave a bittersweet smile and walked back into the building.
"Oh Y/N~" You stopped and smiled - a real one this time. "Hey Kokichi-" You were quickly cut off by a peck on the lips and a grin once he pulled away. Your face flushed as you turned your head. "What is it, Kokichi?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to see you get flustered."
"Well, it seems like that didn't quite work."
"WHAT?! I thought I was the liar here, Mind Reader."
You looked at him and sighed. "Okay, now what do you really want?" He grinned and walked up next to you. "Looks like you through my lie again! Well, I wanted to ask you if you knew where Kiibo was."
"No." You answered back. "Aw, why?" "Because I know you'll just put magnets on him. Besides, I don't know where he is."
Kokichi pouted and looked away from you. "Fine... but when we're sleeping, we're all in the same room."
.
That night, most of you were gathered in the room, with the only ones missing being Miu and Kaede.
"Y/N!" Kokichi whined. "I'm sleepy!"
"So sleep." You answered turning the page of your book. He made an exaggerated gasp. "How could you?! Are you not worried about your boyfriend?"
"I never said anything about that." Everyone stared at you as you smirked. "Because you never asked."
"Ooh... Kokichi." Kaito teased. Maki rolled her eyes. "I'm surprised anyone would want him to ask them in the first place."
Kokichi buried his face in his pillow. "Ugh, why do you have to be so difficult!" You giggled as you shut your book. "Alright, alright, it's time for bed. Looks like Himiko's already on it."

Tenko blocked Himiko with her arms. "Don't look, degenerates!"
You smiled and lied down, pulling your blanket up to your neck, slowly drifting off to sleep.
.
"Are they sleeping?" Rantaro asked, making Shuichi go check. "Yep, looks like it."
The two of them looked at Kokichi, one with a menacing look. "Okay... so how're you going to ask them?" Rantaro questioned.
Kokichi tensed up as he turned his head to the two. "What?!" He whisper-yelled. "Well aren't you planning to?" Shuichi wondered. "I mean, you've been calling yourself their boyfriend for a while now."
Kokichi sunk into his bed. "Why... does this situation feel familiar?"
"That doesn't matter!" Rantaro sat on Kokichi's bed. "You just need to think of a cool way to ask them to be your partner."
"I can figure that out on my own!" Kokichi claimed as he crossed his arms. Shuichi sighed. "I may not be as good as Y/N, but I know you're lying, Kokichi."
Kokichi sighed. "Fine, you caught me detective. Would you like a reward?"
Rantaro chuckled. "Alright, alright. Now, you can't just walk up to them and say 'Can I be your boyfriend?' It needs to be special!" He put his hand on his chin. "Maybe we could ask Kiyo for things from the villages he apparently went to."
"You just want to talk to Kiyo, period." Shuichi deadpanned. Kokichi giggled. "Nishishi! Well, I'm thinking..."
.
.
.
It was the next day, and it was the final mission according to Makoto. Byakuya had lent the records for this city, and according to it, there were only 20 left.
You lied in your bed, waiting for them to come back. Even though Kokichi wasn't on this mission, you hadn't seen him all day. Strangely enough, same with Rantaro and Shuichi.
"Hey Kaede." You poked your head into the music room where Ibuki and Kaede were hanging out. "Oh, hey Y/N!" Kaede greeted as she hopped off the stage. "Is something wrong?"
You shook your head. "Do you know where Rantaro, Shuichi, and Kokichi are?" Her eyes widened a little and she shook her head. "Nope! Haven't seen them since this morning."
You glanced at her foot which tapped when she lied, and while it was subtle, you could see it. "Okay..."
Throughout the whole day, you didn't see any of the three, and everyone refused to say anything. Even Maki.
"I haven't seen any of them." She told you when you asked. "It's not like I'd keep track of where the gremlin is." She was looking straight at you, not a single part of her body facing away. Liar.
"What is going on today?" You muttered to yourself. As you walked down the ball back to the room, you noticed from the corner of your eye a small piece of paper. Actually, not just a small piece of paper. These things are just our way of communicating, huh? You picked up the small star and opened it.

You tilted your head. "4... 9..." You lifted your fingers. A... B... C... D... "Ah!"

You went to the dining hall and found another paper star on the table.

"Bedroom..." You went to the bedroom you all shared and found a star on your pillow. "He's being sneaky today, huh?"

"Lab? Where... Oh, Kazuichi's!" You went to Kazuichi's lab and found a paper star next to his toolbox.
"Whatcha doing?" He asked, lifting his safety glasses. "Kokichi made a sort of scavenger hunt for me."
"How do you know it's him?"
"I just do."
You opened the paper star.

"Roof..." You went to the rooftop, and noticed that the noise from the music room was gone.
As you climbed the stairs, there was a new noise - or rather a new song. It was on a piano, or maybe a key-tar from what you could tell.
"I wonder what he has planned."

Bloodlines
Bloodlines is the first major story set in the far larger and immensely connected universe known as Infinitum. A group of renegades and misfits take into the sky in their fancy skyship to fulfill the prophecy they don't care about and defeat the Empire they care even less about. In the process, they learn things (they would rather not) of the fucked up Universe, dead gods, and the future that holds no mercy. Bloodlines draws inspiration from One Piece. But in the bigger picture, Bloodlines is one of many stories set in Cosmere-like universe where plots stretch beyond planets and star systems and stakes are higher than godhood (like in Malazan chronicles). Currently, I am planning to finish the first arc [Bandit Arc], add 10k words interlude with some revelations, then publish a story happening elsewhere. Then I will be back to write the second arc. For now, the Fifth Region has 8 arcs planned. Officially, there are 5 regions. The Fifth Region is not the shortest but is far from the longest regions. - PS. Pay attention to flavor text. Chapters published weekly.
