《You Saw Right Through Me》Some Memories are Best Left Forgotten

You were seated in front of Mikan as she did a thorough check on you. Whether it was your breathing pattern or your heartbeat, none of it was normal.
"Huh?! Y-your lungs are p-punctured! But y-you're still b-breathing?"
"Your h-heart is b-beating but th-there's a hole in it!"
"How d-did you get th-this wound?"
Chiaki giggled as she watched your face get more and more uncomfortable. Shuichi walked in, holding a piece of paper.
"Mikan, Makoto wanted... uh..."
The two of you looked at Shuichi. "Ah! O-okay!" Mikan took the papers from Shuichi and ran out of the room. You sighed and relaxed your muscles. "You alright?" Shuichi laughed. You squinted at him.
"You saw what I did to the exisals, right?" Shuichi chuckled and backed out of the room. "I'll... see you at dinner." You and Chiaki looked at each other and giggled.
You pushed off the bed, but the moment your feet touched the ground, you fell down. "Ow..." You looked at your legs, which were in utter pain. "Dang it..." Holding your leg, you took a deep breath and stood up.
"Y/N?" You turned your head and saw Rantaro. "H-hey! What's up?" He looked at your shaking legs and walked closer to you. "Are you alright?" You nodded and pushed off the ground, making you hover. "I'm fine. Let's just have dinner."
He nodded and you followed him to the dining room.
"Um..." Teruteru looked at your legs, which were uncovered since you only had shorts on. "Well, while you have the chicken legs, I can-" He was cut off by at least 15 glares, and he decided to shut up.
You sat down next to Kokichi and looked down at the food in front of you. "Do ghosts.. eat?" Kokichi asked you. You smiled and nodded. "I can, at least." You glanced at Chiaki, who was hovering above the table.
"Anyways," Makoto began. "Kazuichi and Miu have informed me about something they have been working on." Kazuichi nodded. "We found the machine used to erase your memories, and we think it might be able to give back your old memories. So we reversed the machine and hopefully it should give back memories rather than implant fake ones."
Kirumi tilted her head. "Has this been tested?" Miu shook her head. "That's the problem. We don't know if it's safe or not." You raised your hand next to your face. "I can test it."
All eyes turned to you. "W-wait, but you just came back!" Himiko said. You waved one hand in front of your face. "I won't die or anything if it fails!" Kokichi held your hand under the table. "Well, if Y/N wants to risk their life, then they can risk their life. It's not like it's their first time."
Tenko eyed him, angrily. "You're the one that said-" "I said nothing!" Kokichi turned to her, hiding his face from you, and put his finger over his mouth. She slouched in her chair and pouted.

"Are you sure, Y/N?" Asahina asked. "We just met you, and we might see something personal." You smiled. "So? I trust you with that." Byakuya sighed. "Your trust is going to get you killed."
"And your mistrust is also going to get you killed."
He looked at your conniving smirk and turned away. "Fine. But if something bad happens, it is none of our faults." "Yeah, yeah." Kazuichi stood up. "Great! We'll gather at 7:00."
Sonia looked at Kazuichi. "Are you sure all of us should come? This is someone else's memories." Mahiru nodded. "I think for the sake of privacy, only some people should come. Like, Makoto, Byakuya, you, and then their close friends."
You nodded. "Though I trust you with the information, I would prefer that as few people as possible know about it." Makoto nodded. "Alright. Byakuya, Kyoko, and I will be there. As will Kazuichi and Miu. You can choose the others."
"Preferably three." Kazuichi added. "The room isn't the biggest place in the world." You nodded. "Alright."
That evening, you, Kokichi, Rantaro, and Shuichi joined you in the inventor's lab in the basement. "Are you sure you'll be okay doing this?" Shuichi asked. You smiled. "Nope!"
The three of them looked at each other, then at your retreating figure. "They have no sense of personal safety." Rantaro muttered as the three of them followed you.
"Hey Y/N!" Kazuichi greeted. "We have it here, so just sit down." You sat down in a chair as Kazuichi explained how it worked.
"Basically, we're going to get the part of your brain vital for memories and kind of alter it. It's going to show up on the screen in front of Makoto, Kyoko, and Byakuya." You nodded.
"Alright, let's do this." Miu said. She placed the mechanism over your head.
Kokichi bit his nail as Kazuichi started up the mechanism. Makoto looked down at the screen in front of him, with Byakuya and Kyoko looking over either shoulder. The memories were normal at first.
"They're beautiful."
"What's they're name?"
"First day of school, here we go!"
Normal things like that. But at the age of ten...
"Mom, open the door! Please, mom, open the freaking door!"
"Mom, where are you, can't you hear me?!"
"N-no, she's still up there!"
"Mom...?"
Makoto covered his mouth as he saw the woman that looked a bit like you being put into a body bag. "When was this?" Byakuya looked at the year. "Ten years old."
The memories continued on, and they were pretty normal for your average preteen. Studying, homework, school... being bullied. But then, at 12...
"Wait, where's Rantaro?"
"Y/N, you can't go in there!"
"He's still in there!"
"Let me go!"
"Rantaro!"
Kyoko's eyes were wide. The burning building... it was a school. Even Byakuya was reduced to his shocked expression. Then there was the event that Kyoko was all too familiar with... or so she thought.

"Rantaro?"
"Wait, leave him alone!"
"Mmh!"
She shut her eyes and turned her head. "Such a sweet person... they didn't deserve this." And then, there was something that nobody in the room knew. Makoto motioned for Rantaro, Shuichi, and Kokichi to come over, and they too were frozen in shock.
"No! Please, I'm not going to- ow!"
"P-please... I- mmph!"
Your muffled screams of help rang through Kokichi's ears as he gripped onto Rantaro's sleeve. Your legs were being hit--no--blundered with a metal pole. Kokichi looked at you and his eyes widened. "Wait, turn it off!"
Kazuichi turned it off and Kokichi ran to you. "Y/N!" He took off the machine and you fell into his arms, trembling. Rantaro and Shuichi ran over. "W-wait.. Kokichi, their legs!" Kokichi looked down at your legs and his eyes widened.
Scattered all across your shins and ankles were large bruises, all swollen with scratches surrounding them. You were breathing heavily and gripping onto Kokichi's shirt as if you would die if you let go.
"W-we have to get them to Mikan!" Miu yelled. "Hurry up, crotchrots!" Kokichi lifted your up and ran straight to the med bay with Rantaro, Shuichi, Makoto, and Kyoko sprinting behind him. "Is he always this fast?" Makoto asked. Shuichi shook his head. "No... only for Y/N."
Kokichi burst through the med bay door. "Mikan! Ibuki, where's Mikan?" Ibuki looked up from her guitar. "Oh, she's sleeping right now. What happened?" Shuichi pointed at your legs, and Ibuki's eyes widened.
Kokichi put you down on one of the beds. "okay, so it may look bad, but you're going to be fine!" Makoto said. Kokichi looked at the boy. "What? They look about as fine as you in the morning!" Makoto stared at him, as Shuichi slapped him with the back of his hand.
"I-I'm fine..." You forced out as you sat up. "They're not fatal." Rantaro pursed his lips worriedly as you slowly put your feet on the ground. Kokichi held your arm as you stood up on wobbly legs.
They watched as you left the room, pushing off the ground and flying away. "Is it just me... or do they seem colder?" Rantaro said. Shuichi nodded and crossed his arms. "Did something happen?"
Kyoko put her hand on her chin. "Hm... possibly something involving their returned memories. Or the killing game." Makoto nodded. "Maybe you should ask them." Kokichi looked at the door you exited from mere moments ago.
.
.
.
That night, you sat on an empty bunk in the room, but didn't go to sleep. You eyed each person, making sure that they were all asleep. Once you made sure that they were asleep, you slowly drifted down to the ground and walked out of the room. But there was someone that didn't quite fall asleep yet.
You quietly walked to the top floor and opened the door to the roof. Walking to the edge, you stared down at the place you once called your city. You took a step off the edge and fell down. Before hitting the ground, a strong gust of wind propelled repelled you upwards.
You landed on the ground and slowly made your way into the city. A few small clouds appeared above burning buildings from the raise of your hand, and it started raining on them to put out the fire.
The clouds disappeared once the building were put out and you fell to your knees. Making a pained noise, you looked at your shins and took a deep breath. "You're fine... you're fine... you're fi-" "You're not fine."
Your eyes slightly widened. "What do you want, Kokichi?" He slowly walked up to you, stopping about three feet away. "Nothing. And that's no lie. But I know you want something." You were silent.
"Y/N-" "So what?" His eyes widened when you looked at him, your hood covering your eyes like it normally did. "So what if I want something? Are you going to ask me what I want so you can help me?"
"Y/N-"
"Because I don't need it."
You stood on your shaky legs and walked away, but Kokichi grabbed your arm. "Y/N, I need you to tell me what's wrong!"
"Everything!"
His eyes widened. You were never like this. The happy person within that End Wall can't be the person he's looking at right now. "W-what?" You gritted your teeth.
"Do you wanna know what's wrong? Everything. Everything about me is wrong. When I was young, I was weak. When I was in that End Wall, I was weak. Do you want to know what I did in that End Wall? Nothing! Without me, it would probably be the same! Just... less... complicated."
Kokichi was silent. You gave a pained smile and looked up enough to reveal the tears brimming your eyes.
"What did I do in that End Wall? Nothing. I just spoke when Shuichi didn't. All I did was cry, fall to my weak freaking knees, and I couldn't do anything to protect any of you." You put your hand on your right eye. "I couldn't... even do anything at the end. Tsumugi had to do that. I can't do anything by myself."
Kokichi began to speak, but you lifted your finger. "I'm sorry Kokichi, but I just can't do anything. These powers are the world's pity for me. Everything was given to me on a silver platter. I never learned how to reach for it myself, so I always had everyone there. I thought I could be there for people so I would make some sort of effect on others rather than people on me... but I just did something anyone can do if they wanted to."
You hung your head. "I'm not perfect. I hate it when people call me that. Because I'm not. I'm smart because it was hammered into me when I was young. I'm strong because I was put through hell that made pain unknown. I'm everything that everyone else is."
You lifted your hand and you disappeared. Kokichi was left there staring at the spot you were just standing in. "W-what...?"
