《You Saw Right Through Me》Y/N?

However, when he blinked, the person was gone. He turned and left, leaving the still active exisals alone.
"Kokichi! Where were you?" Kokichi walked inside as Kirumi was still washing the dishes. "Having fun." He put his hands behind his head as Kirumi watched him return to the room. "What...?"
He went back to the room, where Kaito was explaining what happened to Shuichi. "Hm, that's strange. I thought we were the only ones who weren't overcome by despair?" Kokichi sat down next to Shuichi. "Hey~ Whatcha talking about?"
"You know what we're talking about! That person, remember?" Kokichi put his finger on his chin. "Hm~ I dunno who you're talking about. Why don't you jog my memory?" Kaito groaned and stood up. "Never mind."
Shuichi looked at Kokichi. "So.. a cloaked person, huh?" Kokichi sighed and leaned on the bunk's frame. "Yeah..." He remembered the person disappearing, and then reappearing in a completely different spot, each time with a different weapon. "They were kinda weird."
"The good kind or the bad kind?" Kokichi looked at Shuichi and said with a smirk, "The awesome kind."
You leaned on the wall while staring at Kokichi. Chiaki hovered next to you, her thinking face on. "The necronomicon... how many people was not recommended?" You put your finger on your chin. "Um... anywhere over ten." Chiaki nodded and flew off. "I wonder what that was about."
~Time Skip~
"Another mission?" You questioned as you popped your head through the door. Chiaki tapped your shoulder. "AH! Oh, hey Chiaki." She waved and looked into Makoto's office. "There's more people there then usual."
You nodded and walked away. "Kokichi, Gonta, Maki, and Tenko are going to be the ones fighting. Rantaro was taught how to fly a helicopter, so he'll be the driver. Shuichi and Kaede are monitoring the fight, and are the ones holding the walkie talkies." Chiaki hummed. "Sounds complicated."
Everyone walked out as you watched. "Kokichi requested it, actually." Chiaki tilted her head. "Did he see you?" You smirked and made your cloak appear in your hand. "Let's find out."
.
.
.
"Alright, you guys alright?" Rantaro asked, his hand on his headphones. He got affirmative grunts from everybody and then let the helicopter fly up. "This is kind of fun!" "Hey! Don't go too far!" Tenko sighed and went off with the others.
"Tenko, you're with me. Kokichi and Gonta-"
"Yeah yeah"
Kokichi twirled his electrohammer. "Gonta?" Gonta nodded and all four ran in opposite directions. Kaede looked down from the helicopter. "Alright, they're in position." Shuichi nodded and typed out their coordinates.
"...Hey Shuichi?" Shuichi looked up. "What's wrong, Kaede?" Kaede squinted as she looked at one of the buildings' roofs. "How many people are on this mission?" Shuichi thought for a moment. He used his fingers as he said everyone's names in his head. "7 including us and Rantaro. Why?"
Kaede motioned for Shuichi to come over, and when she pointed to where she was looking, Shuichi's eyes widened. "Is that... a person." Rantaro looked at the two of them. "What do you mean?" He looked down at one of the buildings and saw a person sitting at the edge.
"Rantaro, can you land?" He nodded and lowered the helicopter right behind the person. "Excuse me?" The person flinched and turned their head slightly. Their hood was large enough to cover the top half of their face, so they were unidentifiable. They smiled a bit and pushed off the building.

"Wait!"
Kaede stepped forward, but then she stopped. There was no thump or anything coming from the bottom of the building. She slowly walked to the edge of the roof and looked down, but no one was there.
"What the..."
"Hey! We're done!"
Shuichi, Rantaro, and Kaede looked down at Tenko, Maki, Kokichi, and Gonta. "O-oh yeah, we'll be right there!" They got back into the helicopter and picked everyone up.
"You looked dazed, are you okay?" Kaede looked up at Tenko's worried face. "Ah, I'm fine! Just.. saw something." Kokichi looked at Shuichi, who nodded. Kokichi looked down at the ground. "Cloak..."
Chiaki sighed. "You know, you are very reckless." You giggled and skipped away. "What's life without a little something, you know?"
.
.
.
"A cloaked person?" Makoto questioned when it was reported to him. "Byakuya, do we have anyone of that description in our system?" Byakuya shook his head. "Especially not one that can 'disappear and reappear somewhere else.'" Byakuya looked at the paper in front of him. "And excel at different types of combat."
Asahina and Yasuhiro looked at each other. "Rantaro, are you sure it was a person?" Yasuhiro asked. Asahina gently slapped him with the back of her hand. "He's not insane. But it is strange... teleporting? Insane combat skills? And you have no idea who it is?" Kaede shook her head. "I doubt it's our imagination either, since we all saw them."
Makoto put his hand on his chin. "Are you aware of anyone else that's seen this person?" Shuichi nodded. "Kaito, Maki, Kokichi, and Ryoma." Makoto nodded. "You all will go on the next mission to see if this person is sighted again. I will keep track of everyone that leaves the building."
The three of them went back to the room and told Kokichi, Ryoma, Maki, and Kaito. "Oh, so we're going next week?" Rantaro shook his head. "Tomorrow."
That night, Kokichi nor Rantaro went to bed.
"Hey Kokichi." Kokichi looked up from his milk and saw Rantaro leaning on the door of the dining room. "Couldn't sleep either?" Kokichi shook his head.
"I didn't know you were the type that still drank milk when they couldn't sleep." Kokichi pouted as Rantaro opened the fridge and took out an apple. "Of course, I wouldn't say that it doesn't calm me down."
Kokichi rested his head on his arms. "That person... in the cloak. Don't they remind you of someone?" Rantaro sighed and leaned on the dining table. "I know what you're thinking, Kokichi... but it's wishful thinking. They're gone." Kokichi nodded and let his head drop on the dining table.
"I'm going to bed." Kokichi got up and walked back to the room, leaving Rantaro in the kitchen. He picked up Kokichi's glass and put it in the sink. He stared at the empty glass for a moment and saw someone's reflection behind him, but when he turned around, no one was there.
"Pull it together, Rantaro." He walked away, touching the now healed wound in the back of his head. "Who...?" He shook his head and left.
"He left his apple here." You said, sitting on the counter. Chiaki wasn't with you at the time, so you were left by yourself in the kitchen. You picked up the Apple and made it whole again, then put it back down.
The next morning, you poked Rantaro's cheek. "Can he feel me?" Chiaki sighed. "I'm pretty sure, since he's..." She looked at Rantaro, who was swatting at his cheek. "You know, trying to swat you away." You giggled and continued poking him.

He quietly groaned and his eyes flickered open. "What...?" He sat up and looked around. Deciding to go to the dining room for breakfast, he quietly went down the ladder of his bunk bed and went to the dining room. When he got to the kitchen, he stopped and stared at the apple sitting on the counter.
"Didn't I eat that yesterday?" He opened the fridge and counted the apples. "Three... did I miscount yesterday or something?" He picked up the apple and examined it. "What's...?" There was a small indent on the apple, but when he took a closer look, he noticed it was shaped like a star.
"Rantaro?" Rantaro turned and saw Kiyo in the doorway. "You are up quite early. Is something bothering you?" Rantaro chuckled and shook his head. "No, I'm fine, but thanks for worrying." Kiyo nodded. "I would like for you to see something." Rantaro put down the apple and followed Kiyo back to the room.
Kiyo took out the notebook you gave him and turned to the first page. "Oh..."
Hey, Kiyo. So, I've found out that Rantaro, Shuichi, Kaede, Kokichi, Maki, Kaito, and Ryoma are having another mission tomorrow. There's nothing wrong with that, obviously, but if it's just them, I'd like to offer assistance. These exisals aren't like the ones in the End Wall. They're less complex, and only seem to be coded rather than controlled. So just tell that to them. Thanks!
"Okay..." Rantaro began. "So we don't have to worry about hurting anyone, at least." Kiyo nodded. "I advise you to remember that although they are not as complex, it is still perilous." Rantaro smiled. "Alright... thanks Kiyo."
"Well ain't that cute." Kaito grinned as he looked down from his bunk. "Kaito, shut up, or I'll do that to you and Maki." Kaito's back straightened. "Okay, okay."
They were sent out at about 11:30am, but weren't on a normal mission with apprehending Remnants of Despair and bringing them back to hope and such. No, they were looking for someone specific. The odd thing is they didn't even know who they were looking for.
"So... long cloak... and... that's all we've got." Rantaro paused. "Wait... how are we supposed to find a person with a description like that?!" Maki looked out the helicopter. "Maybe some of us should look on the ground. That's how we found them in the first place, isn't it?"
Kaito nodded. "Alright, Maki Roll and I will take over there. Kokichi and Ryoma can take over there." Shuichi looked down. "S-sorry Kaito, but can I switch with Ryoma? I need to speak to Kokichi about something." Kaito gave a disappointed look for a moment, but then flashed his usual grin. "Alright! Let's move."
While Ryoma and Rantaro stayed in the helicopter, everyone else scattered around the destroyed city, looking for someone that they don't even know.
"So Shumai," Kokichi began. "What'd you wanna talk about?" Shuichi peaked into a building, then looked at Kokichi. "Well.. it's just you seem less lively than before. And I can feel the bunk bed shake in the middle of the night. Are you still having nightmares?"
Kokichi shook his head. "I just- LOOK OUT!" Kokichi pulled Shuichi into a building and shut the door, just as a blast similar to Kiibo's flew passed the building. "I thought the exisals that attack us now have a different design..." Shuichi muttered.
He slowly opened the door and popped his head out. His eyes widened. "It's.. an exisal from the end wall." Kokichi looked out a hole in the building. "But who's controlling it?" Shuichi squinted. "It.. looks like it's been programmed. See? It's not moving now that we're out of sight."
Kokichi patted around his body. "I don't have a walkie talkie, and by earpiece broke. What about you?" Shuichi put his finger on hid earpiece and tried contacting Rantaro, only for there to be static ringing in his ear. "Nope..."
The exisal began moving forward, and turning it's upper half from left to right withe very step. "How are we supposed to get away?" Kokichi looked around the room. There were stairs going to the next floor, but they collapsed so there's probably no use going up there. They may get hurt jumping down anyways.
"U-um... Kokichi?" Kokichi turned back to Shuichi, but his eyes immediately met the exisal waiting outside the building. "Okay, Shumai, we should probably get out of the building before it collapses on us." Kokichi grabbed Shuichi by the hand and yanked him outside, just as the second floor of the building collapsed from the exisal's footsteps.
The exisal turned to them. Shuichi looked behind him and saw two more exisals, both not as advanced as this one. "Kokichi... I-I'm sorry for saying you'll always be alone." Kokichi nodded. "I'm not sorry for anything." Shuichi looked down at the smirking boy, who had more nervousness balled up in him than he was willing to show.
"Get any closer to them and you'll be sorry!"
They looked up at the roof of the building, where a person with a cloak was standing. But they were unarmed. "It's them..." Shuichi barely whispered. The exisal looked up and lifted its arm to aim a beam at the cloaked figure.
They sighed in annoyance and lifted their hand. "To be honest, either way it wasn't going to end well for you." There was a loud thunder from the sky and clouds gathered right above the person's hand. They smirked and balled their hand into a fist, making charged lighting hit all three exisals surrounding Kokichi and Shuichi.
The exisals were disabled and they jumped down and touched a small patch of grass. The grass turned green and grew into large thick vines, then impaled the exisal from the End Wall.
"What the-"
"Step back!"
Kokichi and Shuichi separated as the person aimed in between them. They balled their hand into a fist and the two exisals behind Shuichi and Kokichi fell apart. Then they opened their hand again, making the exisal parts go flying.
"Ah... this brings back memories." They knelt down next to the fallen exisal. "Not saying they're good ones." Shuichi furrowed his brow. "What do you mean?" The person stood up and gripped the hemm of their hood. "I guess the cat's outta the bag, huh?"
They lifted their hood to reveal the top side of their face, and opened their eyes. Kokichi quietly gasped as they took their hood off and looked at him. "Hey Kokichi..."

STEM: The Topical Dungeon
Inspired by CORE: The Volcanic Dungeon by Ace Arriande and a spiritual successor to my writing prompt series Evolution Barricade, STEM is a series following the reincarnation of Kaden into the fantasy world of Brogdar. Reborn as a "DM" and a plant, Kaden tackles the challenges of being the agent of the chaotic god: trying to be his very own dungeon master. However, unlike other stories, Kaden is often making fun of and dealing with disadvantages that the normal reincarnated hero would never have to worry about. A parody of the normal tropes of isekai, STEM is a periodic series that is intended to release a minimum of once per week. There may be times where there is more than one drop, but those would be special occasions. Additionally, the content tags are simply to try and ensure my readers know these stories can encompass a large variety of things. They may not immediately be in focus, but they will all end up appearing!

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have.
