《You Saw Right Through Me》Your Trial

Everyone gathered in the Shrine of Judgement. "May I say something?" Kiibo asked. "I'm very sorry!" He bowed as low as his robot body could bend. "I almost destroyed the school trying to get rid of despair, and you guys almost got hurt while I was doing so!" You smiled and flew closer to Kiibo's ear. "We all know it was for the best." He flinched and looked around. "What's wrong?" Shuichi asked. "I-I thought it was my inner voice, but it didn't sound the same..." Kiibo answered.
"Maki, if I may ask, what is the vacuum you are holding?" Kirumi wondered. Maki explained that it was a BugVac Kokichi asked Miu to make. "Oh yeah. But there aren't any bugs around here! See? There aren't any inside." Miu pointed out. "It's pretty useless, but I invented it anyways." Kiibo shook his head. "Before we determine that, let me use my new vision to examine it." Kokichi's eyes seemed to sparkle as Kiibo examined what was inside the BugVac and printed it.
"It's tiny Monokumas!" Shuichi said. Gonta's eyes lit up. "Gonta did see bugs!" Himiko put her hand on her chin as she looked from Gonta to the BugVac. "How did you even see that? They're so small, I didn't even know they were there." Shuichi was handed the photo. "It seems like... they're recording." Kiibo got really close to the BugVac and began to talk to them.
"I think he's communicating with them?" You guessed. You still couldn't hear anything that was going on in the living world. You could only hear what was going on in the "afterlife." You flew backwards as you saw everyone's expressions get more shocked by every word Kiibo seemed to say.
"I guess I was right to use the electrobomb!" Kokichi teased. Tsumugi tilted her head at Kokichi. "I feel like this would've been easier if you had simply worked with us normally." You watched as everyone went into the elevator, leaving one spot empty.... where you used to stand.
As the elevator descended, you had expected there to be more talking, but they were all really gloomy. "I guess you meant a great deal to them." Kiyo's sister mentioned. You nodded. "I... didn't realise that." She put her hand on your shoulder. "I've been watching for a while now. I am positive that they thought of you as family." You landed on the floor of the elevator. "I... I see." You went through the floor and into the trial grounds to wait.
"Welcome to the trial grounds!" Monokuma announced. "Huh, I've never seen this place before..." Rantaro muttered. Kirumi sighed. "You'd be lucky if you haven't." Everyone went to their areas, which no longer had their pictures if they were dead. Kokichi walked up to his podium and looked to his right, where he saw your face and a big red x over it.
"I wish all 17 of us were still here. It would've been better." Tsumugi said. "No use in wallowing about it now. Would Y/N want that?" Maki asked. Everyone shook their heads as their eyes travelled to the ground.
"Alright, let's start with the more important mystery!" Monokuma said. "Who do you think the mastermind is?" Kokichi clenched his fist. "The more important mystery?" He asked, gritting his teeth. Kaito pressed his fists together. "Y/N's death is more important, you-" Monokuma giggled. "Oh really? Didn't you say the whole reason they died was because of the mastermind? Shouldn't you figure that out first?"

You left the trial grounds and went up to Kiibo's lab. "What are you doing?" Kiyo's sister asked. You flew to the ground and landed on your feet. You turned your head from side to side, holding out your arms to estimate different measurements. "I'm going to fulfil a promise I made a while back." You flew out and came back in, holding fabric. "I really only hold things I want to, huh?" You smiled and sat down with a needle and thread while Kiyo's sister looked over your shoulder to see what you were doing.
Meanwhile, in the trial grounds, they were arguing on whether or not they should investigate your murder or who the mastermind is.
"Y/N is more important!"
"But this'll go a lot faster if we just find out who the mastermind is!"
"They were our friend and you're putting them second?!"
"And what? We find out who killed them and they get executed?"
"STOP!" Everyone looked at the source of the sudden yell. "Would Y/N want us to be fighting among ourselves?" Kaede asked. "Of course not! Monokuma and the Monokubs may be wanting to participate, but that doesn't mean that we let him get in our way." She turned to Shuichi, who had been silent the whole time. "Shuichi, what do you think is more important?"
Shuichi looked up and to the side. "Well... I guess we should figure out who killed Y/N. That may also lead to why you all are here." Kaito made an affirmative grunt and faced everyone. "Alright, first, we've gotta review our facts!"
Maki put her hand to her chin. "Well, they were found in the classroom on the second floor." Rantaro nodded. "A-and there wasn't a confirmed murder weapon..." Kiyo hummed in agreement. "And the time of death is also unknown." Kaito groaned and looked up. "There isn't any evidence at all!"
Shuichi thought for a moment. "Wait, do you remember the rock formation we found, with all the objects they had gotten from everyone?" Kokichi nodded and put his finger on his chin. "But... Why did it look so specific? Kee-boy couldn't have made it that perfect." Rantaro put his hand on his chest. He looked around and sighed. "Why were the items underneath? What's the point of putting them under there?" Kirumi smiled. "You seem to be of much help despite having no experience, Rantaro." Rantaro put his hand on the back of his head. "Th-thanks."
Tsumugi put her finger on her chin. "Well, maybe the culprit wanted to make it seem like su!cide." Himiko tilted her head. "Why do you think that?" Maki bit her thumbnail and her eyes slightly lit up. "It would look intentional. Like some sort of thing Y/N wanted to do before they killed themself."
"Like, surrounding themself with things they love?" Kiyo asked. Maki puffed up one of her cheeks. "Y-yeah, I guess... It'd be easy since their key didn't seem to be on them. Maybe the culprit took it." Shuichi put his hand on his chin. The door was unlocked, so it'd be easy to take the items Y/N had gotten from everyone that had died. But the thing that didn't add up... "But why are you guys alive?"
Everyone turned to him. "I-It's not that I don't want you guys to be alive, it's just odd. Right when we're about to solve this, everyone comes back. It's not like the mastermind would want us to have more help." Kaede nodded and looked up. "But... why are we back here then?"

"Maybe the mastermind wanted to bring more despair and brought you back." Maki assumed. Kaito scratched his head. "That may be right, Maki Roll, but how are we back is the question." Angie pressed her hands together. "Maybe Atua let us free!" Kaito scoffed. "Shut up about this Atua business!"
"Maybe the mastermind did a ritual and used Y/N as a sacrifice?" Tsumugi suggested. "It would cause more despair if all of the participants saw that someone so close to them was dead, right? And Y/N was alone at the time, so it would've been easy." Kokichi gritted his teeth. "N-no... Y/N would've... would've struggled or something! They're strong! They didn't die!" Kokichi's eyes widened. "F-from that..."
Everyone went silent. You had been close to everyone in that room. They didn't want to believe that the body they found was yours, but they knew it was. They missed your happy smile, your happy attitude, your encouraging words.... they missed you. "D-dammit..." Kaito muttered. "Why... why'd they have to die?"
"Hey!" Everyone looked up. "Don't hang your heads like that! Keep your heads high and solve this!" Kaede looked around. "Who said that?" Shuichi tilted his head. "I thought it was you at first, but that wasn't your voice..." You giggled and flew back to Kiibo's room.
"B-but, whoever it was is right!" Kaede began. "We can't stand here all depressed like this, or nothing will get done." Kaede looked at Shuichi. "Alright, let's address the state the body was in." Shuichi smiled and nodded. "Alright, so they were found in the centre of a circle of rubble. They had no hole in their clothes but there was.." He gulped. "there was a big hole where their heart was. About as big as a basketball."
Himiko covered her mouth. "Th-that's... awful... hrrk-" Tenko ran to Himiko and rubbed her back. "Come on, Himiko! Stay strong!" Himiko nodded and looked down. "However, there wasn't a hole in their back either." Maki added. "So how did the hole get there?"
"Maybe their clothes were changed?" Ryoma guessed. Shuichi shook his head. "I don't think so. What's the point of changing their clothes if their clothes are going to be stained with blood either way?" Kiyo cleared his throat. "Possibly, it is because their clothes would help determine the murder weapon?"
"So, you think the murder weapon would immediately expose the culprit?" Kiibo asked. "So only the culprit could use whatever it was that killed Y/N!" Miu concluded. "But, Gonta no see anything in everyone's rooms when he investigate." Gonta recalled. "Did culprit throw the murder weapon away?"
"Where would they throw it away?" Tenko wondered. "There isn't an incinerator or anything, and we looked through the whole school." Monokuma mentioned that littering was strictly prohibited. "It's to keep the land clean, y'know?"
Shuichi looked down and thought back to the crime scene. Your body was near the middle of the room, with rubble all around you. Your body was all bloody, your eyes were closed with blood dripping out of your right eye, your left hand was behind your back, while your right was next to your head. "Maybe... they were trying to muffle the noise..." He muttered.
"What do you mean, Shumai?" Kokichi asked. "Well, their hand was right next to their face and their cheeks were stained with tears... were they in pain?" Kokichi cringed at what Shuichi said. He couldn't imagine you being in pain, and when he did, he just got a pain through his head. "Th-that's a possibility..." Kokichi agreed, reluctantly.
"Kokichi, we understand that you and Y/N were close, but if there's anything that may lead to the culprit, you must inform us." Kirumi told Kokichi. He nodded and looked away. "Well... I saw that they didn't have an eyeball in their right eye socket." Tenko's eyes widened. "W-what? Wh-who would do that to them?" Himiko covered her mouth.
"Why did they have the most brutal murder if they were so close to everyone..." Shuichi mumbled. "Even if they didn't think they would be caught, it was unnecessary." Kaede nodded. "And let's say they were covering their mouth. Why would they not want to alert us that they're being killed?" Rantaro thought for a moment. "Now that I think about it, the door was also locked. Can it be locked from the outside?" "I'm not sure." Shuichi answered. "I don't think so, otherwise, what's the point of locking it in the first place?" Monokuma nodded. "That's right! There also isn't a key for the door."
"Wait, how did you get inside if it was locked?" Tenko asked. "I broke the door." Rantaro answered. Kokichi smirked. "I like you, Rantaro!" Maki suddenly spoke up. "Monokuma, if the murder weapon and time of death, would you say that you don't know how who the culprit is?" Monokuma suddenly developed sweat drops the size of bullets. "W-what? No!"
"From that reaction, it confirms that he isn't aware of the culprit either." Kirumi stated. Ryoma chuckled. "Well, that's why he wanted us to find the truth of the killing game before Y/N's killer. But how will this go if no one knows the killer?" One of the Monokubs waved their paws around. "Daddy doesn't need to be the one who knows the killer! As long as he has us!"
"If the murder weapon and time of death is unknown, then how did the Nanokumas not catch it?" Kaito wondered. "Those bugs inside of the BugVac. They couldn't have been disabled without an electrobomb. Kiibo was fine, so I don't think any were activated anyways." Kiibo mentioned that they were practically the size of molecules. "It's not like Y/N could've noticed them and grabbed them. They didn't even know about the Nanokumas."
"Didn't you threaten to crush them earlier?" Himiko asked. "What if they were crushed by the debris?" Kiibo shook his head. "They're the size of molecules. They wouldn't be crushed if debris fell on them." Shuichi remembered something. "Didn't you say that Motherkuma was destroyed?" Himiko nodded. "Oh! The Nanokumas were connected to that, right?"
Shuichi nodded. "But... Monokuma receives the info as well, right?" Monokuma nodded. "That's right!" Kirumi tilted her head. "You seem more at ease than before. What are you thinking?" Monokuma laughed and continued to claim that he knew who the culprit was.
"Maybe... he does, but it's someone that he doesn't want to be found out?" Shuichi assumed. "So you're saying that the culprit is the mastermind?" Tenko asked. Shuichi shook his head and put his hand on his mouth. "Not particularly, but it's a possibility."
"Wait, what about the things we found in their room?" Rantaro asked. "Wouldn't those be important, too?" Kokichi nodded. "Yeah! Especially those white boards!" Tsumugi tilted her head. "White boards?" Kokichi nodded and explained to them what the white boards looked like. "Did Y/N have a secret mystery solving that she was conducting without our knowledge?" Kirumi asked.
"Why would they do it without us knowing?" Tenko asked. "Did they not trust us?" Kaede shook her head. "It's probably not that. It might be the same reason we didn't tell you about the cameras from the first trial." Rantaro's lip straightened. "So that's what those were."
Shuichi furrowed his brow. "W-wait, you don't remember anything past the time of your death, right?" Everyone who had died nodded their head. "So... none of you remember what happened after the time of your death? You know, from watching us or something?" Miu scoffed. "Why won't you get it, Poo-ichi? We don't know about anything that happened after we died, and that's it."
"Anyways, back to what was found in their room." Maki said. "There were the white boards, which had old info, and info from mere minutes before we found them." Shuichi put his finger on his chin. "We found them at around 12:00pm... and we got that info about 11:00am, right? So their death had to be between 11:15-12:00."
"Why 11:15?" Tsumugi asked. "Well, from the amount of info on the board, I assume that took a bit of time." Shuichi answered. "And they had to be alive at that time, so Y/N most likely went to add that information to their white board." Angie raised her hand. "Ooh! Is that when Atua brought us back?" Despite the Atua remark being incorrect, Shuichi nodded.
"What about the 'right Rantaro, left Kiyo'?" Maki mentioned. "What was it referring to?" Shuichi looked around and noticed the arrangements of the trial grounds. The person to the right of Rantaro and left of Kiyo was Tsumugi. "Maybe... it was a clue on who killed them?"
Ryoma squinted his eyes. "But how would Y/N know who killed them after they died?" Shuichi nodded. "R-right, nevermind." He eyed Tsumugi, but decided to dismiss it. "I don't think the board is related to who killed Y/N either, then." Miu scoffed. "Obviously! Y/N is smart, but not smart enough to tell the future, dumb***!"
"Alright, so does anyone remember where they were between 11:15am?" Rantaro asked. Shuichi said that he was investigating a classroom. "Yeah, I saw him investigating when I came in with Kaede!" Himiko confirmed. Rantaro nodded. "So Kaede, Himiko, and Shuichi can confirm that they saw each other between that time."
"But, that's when we all woke up, wasn't it?" Tenko recalled. Kaede nodded. "Yeah, but it doesn't mean that's our alibi." Angie raised her hand. "Ooh! Atua has reminded me that Tenko and I were together!" Shuichi hummed, agreeing with this information. "That's how we found you guys." Himiko smiled and looked down.
Kokichi made "ooh" sounds of realization. "Rantaro and I were together, too!" Rantaro nodded. Kirumi said that her, Kiyo, and Ryoma were together as well. "Kiyo departed for a moment, but only to check if the footsteps were the rest of you." Kaede's eyes lit up. "Ah! That's why Kiyo was alone when we met up with him!"
Maki asked where Kaito was at the time. "Well, I saw Kaede and Himiko go into the classroom Shuichi was in, so I decided to follow them." Kaito laughed. "But no one can really confirm that, can they?" Maki scoffed and looked away. "We know you didn't do anything, Kaito." Miu eyed him suspiciously, but looked away. "Fine. An idiot like him wouldn't be able to kill someone as smart as Y/N."
"Hey!" Kaito yelled, offended. "I did see Y/N walk by one of the walls that were knocked down around 11:30. But... They were going towards the classroom." Kiibo recalled. He took out his Monopad and opened the map of the school. He pointed to the area he had seen you walk by. "This would've been way more useful earlier." Miu scoffed. "Apologies. I didn't think it was important, since it seemed like obvious information."
"Who did we find near the classroom Y/N was in?" Tsumugi wondered. Shuichi shook his head. "Nobody was nearby. The closest was Himiko, Kaede, Kaito, and I. We were in a nearby classroom." Kokichi clenched his fists in irritation. "Then, who would be close enough to kill Y/N?! Can't they just confess already to save their embarrassment?!" Kokichi shut his eyes and bowed his head to the floor.
Maki and Kaito looked at each other. Kaito had killed Kokichi so Maki wouldn't be the blackened and die. Maki had to see Kaito die. They knew the feeling. "Kokichi." Kokichi looked up at Kaito. "We are going to find out what happened to Y/N. Don't worry! They won't die in vain!" Kaito pressed his fists together. Kokichi smiled and looked away. "Dang, Kaito. You really are just an idiot with good intentions."
Kaito rolled his eyes. "And you're just a liar with bad ones." Shuichi looked back and forth from Kaito and Kokichi. Just what Y/N wanted... for us to be united. Shuichi's eyes slightly widened. "What is it, sidekick?" Kaito asked once he noticed. "Ah! Atua has given him a vision!" Angie said with her hands together above her head.
"N-no, it's nothing like that..." Shuichi put his hand on his face. "Remember what Y/N said when we went to Miu's trial?" Kokichi nodded. "Yeah, wasn't it..."
"This will be the last trial I have to participate in."
Shuichi nodded. "Notice how they said 'I' instead of 'we?'" Gonta nodded. "But, Y/N just talking to themself, right?" Shuichi nodded. "Probably, but aren't they always thinking about us?" Miu got really close to Shuichi's face. "Insultin' the dead, are we? And Y/N of all people? Shameful." Shuichi moved back and shook his head. "N-no, I'm just saying."
'What exactly is this thing you're saying?" Kirumi asked. "Well, it doesn't mean they weren't thinking about us at the time." Shuichi looked at the floor while he thought. "I... I think they were planning this." Kokichi's eyes widened. "W-what do you mean...?"
"Well, from what I could tell, they didn't plan on participating in another class trial. Maybe it's because they thought the next trial.. would be theirs." Kokichi's shoulders dropped. His lips went dry, his knees trembled, and his hands shook. "So you're saying... they killed themselves?"
