《You Saw Right Through Me》The Mysterious Victim
Advertisement
It was the next day, and we were all gathered in the dining hall. I was rather uncomfortable by the fact that everyone had weapons, but I guess it's expected since they don't know that Kokichi isn't the mastermind. At least, I hope he isn't.
Maki didn't have her electrohammer, claiming that a knife was easier. "Um... that won't work on exisal-" "I know." I bit my lip. What exactly was she planning on doing with that?
As we went to the maze with the electrobomb Maki had stolen from Kokichi when she choked him, I had this strange feeling in my stomach.
Once we arrived at the exisal hangar, I felt my hands shaking and thought about what was inside.
What was Kokichi planning to do once we broke inside?
Maki turned on the electrobomb and it disabled the alarm system, allowing Shuichi to go up to the control panel. Maki lifted the shutter, and my eyes widened.
The once motionless hydraulic press was now down... crushing somebody's body.
I saw Kaito's jacket, and I teared up. I fell to my knees, unable to hold myself up. Please.... please be someone else. I shut my eyes and tears began falling. I couldn't form words, let alone sentences.
I sobbed and cried as I held my chest, trying to steady my breathing. "If Monokuma's still moving, then that means Kokichi's still alive... and the one under there is-" I covered my ears. No. It's not either of them. This is just a sick prank. SOMEONE WAKE ME UP!
I felt a hand rest on my back. "Let's just investigate, okay?" I heard the familiar voice of the detective and I solemnly nodded bringing myself to my feet. We were given the Monokuma File... but I didn't even want to look. I knew that it wouldn't tell us the culprit.
I walked out of the exisal hangar. "I-I'm going to s-search for K-Kaito or Kokichi." I barely whispered. Shuichi nodded as I left and stood at the entrance for a moment.
I had to wipe away my tears and help out.
Suddenly, I heard metal clanging behind me. "Kiibo?" I saw the robot swaying as he walked towards me. "Ah, you got affected... by... the... electrobomb." He nodded as I helped him straighten up. The electrobomb... disables all electronic appliances.
I knew nobody knew about Kokichi's plan, but I'm still not sure if he was telling the truth. He avoided eye contact, so it was hard to tell.
I ran back to the exisal hangar. "Y-Y/N?" I went up to the hydraulic press' control panel. I pressed the button. I looked near the hydraulic press and saw a black item sprawling across the floor. "Shuichi, what's that?"
He walked to where I was pointing. "It's a cord." I jumped down and knelt down beside him. "This cord is too finely cut to be an accident."
I glanced back at the control panel and saw the safety notice. The hydraulic press was supposed to have a safety function, but it didn't stop despite there being a body under it. But that doesn't confirm what this cord was for. All I know is that this definitely wasn't an accident.
"Shuichi, where was Kaito when we were talking to him last night?" I looked up at Shuichi. "He was in the washroom." I turned my head towards the washroom door and saw a trail of blood coming from the washroom and to the hydraulic press. I'm guessing that's the victim's blood.

I walked over to the washroom with Shuichi following behind me.
Once I opened the door, I saw the mess on the floor. There was the crossbow from Maki's lab, a bottle, and an arrow from the crossbow.
I knelt down near the bottle and picked it up. All I could read was "poison", while the rest was covered in blood. "Shuichi, how big would you say Kaito's hands are?" Shuichi tilted his head. "U-um, a bit bigger than mine. What are you looking at?"
He knelt down next to me and I handed him the bottle. "Oh, yeah it does look like someone was holding it. Is this poison?"
Shuichi noticed the arrows resting near the crossbow. "I'm guessing either Kaito or Kokichi pulled these out of their body. Why would they do that though?"
I shrugged. "Doesn't the weapon itself stop the blood from flowing?" Shuichi nodded as he stood up and turned to the left, where the open window was. He looked through it and turned to me.
"Too small for a person to fit through."
"But an object could easily fit through, right?" He hummed in agreement.
Shuichi left the bathroom, but I was still holding the "poison." It wasn't empty, but it almost was, kind of like when you drink something but only leave a little at the bottom.
I don't think someone would willingly drink it either, since according to the bloody handprint, the bottle's opening wasn't facing whoever was holding it. So it's either it was forced down someone's throat or...
I sighed and put down the bottle and followed Shuichi.
I saw Shuichi investigating the motionless exisal. "Is there something in there?" He shook his head. "Monokuma just told me that only the Monokubs can open the electronic lock, so the hatch shouldn't be open. But with the electrohammers, it would be disabled."
I climbed up the exisal and looked inside. "There isn't anything in here."
I knew there was still one place I needed to check, whether I liked it or not. I took a few slow steps towards the hydraulic press and knelt down next to the area where the sleeve was sticking out.
"Wait..." I lifted the sleeve to take a closer look. "Shuichi, come look at this." He came over and saw the hole in the sleeve. "But if that's Kaito's sleeve, then that means he got hit by the crossbow, too?"
"Kokichi doesn't even know about the crossbow, does he?" Shuichi shook his head. "But how would Kaito accidentally hit himself?"
"I'm not sure, but does he ever actually put his arms in his sleeves?" Shuichi and I looked at each other for a moment before I turned back to the sleeve. "You go question Kiibo. I'll continue investigating here."
Shuichi nodded and went outside, while I stayed by the hydraulic press. I didn't know who was under this, and to be honest, I didn't want it to be anyone. But I knew that was hopeful thinking.
I stood up and stared at the blood dripping down from the hydraulic press. I know that either Kokichi or Kaito got hit by an arrow in the washroom, but I don't know which one made their way over to the hydraulic press, and which one made the press crush the other.
I walked up to the paint machine and climbed up one of the support beams near it to get a closer look. "Be careful, Y/N!" Himiko warned. "Those things aren't supposed to be climbed on, and my MP is low!"

I gave her a thumbs up as I looked over at the paint machine. It smelled... a bit like paint thinner. Doesn't that smell wear off after a few days? I jumped down and sighed. It's not like I can ask anybody.
Shuichi came and told me that Kiibo was feeling sick, most likely because of the electrobomb.
"Alright. I don't really have much to investigate here, so let's investigate outside together, okay?" He averted his eyes. "Is there something you need to tell me?" He turned his eyes back at me with a shocked expression, most likely because I knew he needed to tell me something.
His face then softened when he remembered I was the Ultimate Psychologist.
"Well, Kiibo tried to get Kaito back peacefully last night, but when he tried to call out, he got no answer."
I wonder what time Kiibo did that.
"But while he was there, he saw Himiko bringing the case that I assume the crossbow was in." I raised my eyebrows and looked at the washroom door.
"O-oh... I guess we should look at the exisals that were circling Monokuma last night, then." Shuichi and I walked next to each other to the clearing and found the motionless exisals.
Shuichi noticed something in a dead end near the exisals. "Look at this." I walked over and saw that he was holding a dead electrohammer.
"Listen up! Heed what I say!" "AGH!" Monokuma was right behind us. "I noticed you guys were sneaking around yesterday. You really didn't need to, since the exisals were on autopilot to only watch me. The only reason I'm telling you this is because the person that knows it doesn't seem like they're going to tell you. And a class trial has to be fair." He bid us farewell and went off, probably to bother some other students.
Shuichi had his thinking face on, so I decided not to bother him. I climbed up the exisal's arm and tried opening the hatch. Just like Monokuma said, you can't open them unless you're the Monokubs. I jumped down and thought of Kokichi. How did he control them if he wasn't the mastermind? "Shuichi, was there any way you saw Kokichi control the exisals?"
"He had a remote. Why?" I shook my head. "No reason."
He said that we should investigate him and Maki's lab, but I said that I would investigate Kaito's room. "Huh? Why?" I put my hand on my arm. "I-I'm not sure... I just have a weird feeling." He nodded and we separated.
As I made my way to the dorms, I looked up at the artificial sky. I guess Gonta was right. Knowing what was out there would cause a lot of despair. I looked down and remembered what Gonta found.
I went to the place Gonta found it and knelt down near the stone with the words written on it. "I knew it said these words, I just didn't know it would say Kokichi. I wonder when he did this."
I noticed a small piece of paper next to it. When I picked it up, I realised it was one of the paper stars I taught him how to make. My eyes softened and I stood up, putting it in my pocket.
When I went to the dorms, I went back inside the school and went to Shuichi's lab. Shuichi wasn't there yet, so I decided to investigate on my own.
First, I went to the cabinet with the poison. "Y/N?" My hand almost knocked over a bottle, but I caught it just in time. "Shuichi. I swear, if you accidentally killed me or something, I would haunt you." He nodded, guiltily and looked at the bottle I caught. "I thought you were going to investigate Kaito's room?" I nodded. "I did, but I didn't find anything of use to the investigation."
Shuichi walked up next to me and examined the bottles. "Oh! This one is a little less full than the rest." He picked up a bottle that said Strike-99 Poison. "Even if it's only a little, having this poison enter your body is lethal."
I pointed at the table with curious eyes. "What are those for?"
I strode over to the table and picked up the three bottles, each of them saying antidote. "I guess the culprit made a slight mistake with the poison." I assumed. "Yeah, but none of them say Strike-99 Poison antidote, do they?" I shook my head.
"But if the culprit tried to find it, wouldn't they bring it with them to the crime scene?" Shuichi nodded and looked around the room. "I think that's all that's in here. I already checked Maki's lab."
We agreed to go back to the exisal hangar. Once we went in, we immediately got Kiibo calling out our names. "Y/N! Shuichi! Take a look at this!" He led us to the washroom and I covered my mouth with my hands. Hanging on the edge of the toilet was Kokichi's wet clothes.
"Were these... in the toilet?" Shuichi questioned. Kiibo nodded and explained that the clothes were clogged in the toilet, as if someone tried to flush them.
Shuichi picked up the clothes and spread them out. "There's a hole in the back and on the arm. They kind of look like the hole on Kaito's jacket, right Y/N?"
I was silent.
"Y/N?" He turned to me and saw my horrified face. He remembered that I was rather close with Kokichi and stood up in front of me. "Th-this doesn't mean Kokichi's dead... it just means that he doesn't have this particular pair of clothes on right now!"
I gave him a slight nod as he looked back at the clothes. "Other than the fact that they're wet, I don't see anything else abnormal about them."
"I'd recommend you both wash your hands before leaving."
I walked out and saw Maki, who left earlier when Shuichi didn't want to conclude that it was Kaito under the hydraulic press. "Hey Y/N! Any luck on finding Kokichi before the class trial starts?"
I shook my head and looked at the hydraulic press. I don't like the fact that they immediately thought that Kokichi wasn't under there, but then again, I really don't blame them.
"I doubt that it's Kokichi under there, Y/N. He's manipulated us all and I don't think he would be killed by an injured person like Kaito." I looked at Tsumugi.
Manipulated you all? He did? I took a deep breath. "W-Well, either way, whichever one is alive has to come to the class trial." Tsumugi nodded as the class trial announcement rang. "I guess we're about to find out who survived."

Midthalion Saga
+++Working on new chapters. Share what I've posted with your friends and family! Be sure to build strong bonds with those who are important to you. We only have each other in this world for so long!+++ Can Roderick XXIII gather together and train a party of adventurers to clear out Madeon Caves and bring peace to the wildmarches of Midthalion? Sent from his home monastery in the west to the wildmarches of Midthalion, Roderick the Holy Avenger is devoted to living out his oath to bring the Holy Light to the dark corners of the world. He enlists the help of an old friend, Ulrich Vogelbrandt the dwarf druid, to train and prepare a fighting force capable of defending the west from the evil they both see gathering and growing in the east. Eoroth is an ode to Tolkienesque epic fantasy, Robert E Howard and H.P. Lovecraft's pulp fiction, and Gygaxian Dungeons & Dragons. I like to write about serious topics because I think it's fun. I hope it makes for a fun read. Place: Eoroth, a vast, flat world with many continents set in oceans that reach out and mingle with the Celestial Sea. Our story takes place on the continent of Thalion in the middle, unsettled region called Midthalion. Peoples: Races in Eoroth aren't different species; the species of man is just incredibly diverse, consisting of many known races (and perhaps some unknown). There are no humans in Thalion. Thalion's races include variations of elves, dwarves, halflings (billowits), pierros (clownish men), bergeracs (long-nosed and swarthy men of honour), orcs, trolls, goblins, and hobgobs. The Church: There's one dominant religion in Westhalion. The faith of the elves is an analogue to Roman Catholicism while the dwarves practice an Eastern Orthodox analogue. (Forgive me for not having figured out names yet.) The practitioners worship a triune god (the All-Father, Son-of-All, and Holy Light). There are many powers in heaven, all created by God. These include the Twelve High Thrones, individual, created beings who take on the role of guiding mankind in different aspects, drawing them closer and closer to God. (That should be the essentials. I could write pages on the theology. Comment where something's unclear in the story.) Natural World: There are plants and animals in Eoroth, but the world is also inhabited by spirits called aeons. Aeons are transformative beings; in the wild, they'll change based on whatever is happening nearby. Pollute a pond? Expect to see toxic toad-men running around. Leave a bunch of dead bodies strewn across a battlefield? Expect the place to become haunted with ghouls and ghasts. Druids are important for making sure that the aeons are pacified; that their needs are met so that they don't become rampaging monsters. Where the wilderness becomes overgrown, so too do the aeons. Aeons and People: Long ago, men learned how to trap aeons in stone tablets and use them for war. Now, anyone can capture an aeon into a special staff made by a druid. Men train, raise, and bond with these aeons. Druids often build entire ranches devoted to raising healthy aeons as allies and companions. Aeons are divided into twelve known families, and the church sees these as corresponding with the Twelve Thrones in Heaven. Direction: My goal is to get the story to one million words by June next year. I have tons of content in mind for the world. I want to release novels set in different ages of the world depicting different historical events. I hope to expand the setting into a tabletop role-playing game as well as a series of old-school JRPGs. But, it all begins with writing some stories and publishing my novels.
