《You Saw Right Through Me》The First Kill
Advertisement
I lied in bed, thinking about everyone in our group. I doubt it's Gonta, especially since he's always super serious about being a gentleman. K1-B0 is a robot, and I don't think robots can lie. Tenko... She's a bit violent. Kiyo is a bit strange... Angie has an obsession with this "Atua".... "Ugh!" I press my pillow on my face. "I can't suspect anyone without proof." I say to myself.
Besides, is hiding out in the library even a good idea?
I hear a knock at the door, and I think it's Shuichi or Kaede, so I walk over to the door. "Hello th- whoa!" Monokuma almost knocks me over as he walks into my dorm and bumps into my shins. "Oh, there you are! I have some news for you." I tilt my head, as if to tell him to go on. "We've finished making the research rooms, and yours is one of them! You should go check it out." And with that, he left. What exactly is going to be in a psychologist's research room?
Right as I sat at my bed, I heard the door knock. I walk over and press my ear to the door. Silence. It's not Monokuma. "Hey!" I exclaimed when I opened the door. It was Shuichi and Kaede. "What's up?" I invited them inside and we sat down on the couch.
"I think hiding out in the library isn't a good idea." Shuichi told me.
"I wanted to tell you the same thing. It risks us being found out and the mastermind might turn things on us." Kaede sighed. "I feel like I'm the dumbest in the room sometimes." I chuckled and patted her back. "Don't say that. You're equal."
"So what do you think we should do?" I asked Shuichi. He smiled and faced me. "Cameras." I thought for a moment. Where could we find... "Oh! The warehouse!" I thought back on the day we met Miu. There were things all around that warehouse, and there no doubt has to be at least one camera. Shuichi nodded as Kaede hummed in affirmation. "With some modifications, we can combine the sensors and cameras I found there."
I thought for a moment. "I don't think the Ultimate Detective, Psychologist, and Pianist can modify a camera... but I think I know who can."
"However, she may be... it so we'll need to be careful." I smiled. "I know how to mess with the smartest minds. I know what to ask without it being suspicious." Kaede grinned while putting her arm around me. "Perks of having the Ultimate Psychologist on our side!"
We went to the dining hall and found Miu sitting at the table. I walked towards Miu while Shuichi and Kaede stayed in the hall. "Good morning, Miu!" I greeted them cheerfully. "How was your sleep?" Miu looked at me. "It was fine, but I would really rather do something other than sleep. It's a waste of time."
"So what would you rather do at night?" Miu looked at me as if it were an obvious answer. "Literally anything! I was trying to reinvent my 'type while you sleep' until I remembered there's nothing to type on."
I rested my head on my hand. "So... if you were to make changes to the group, what would it be?" Miu eyed me, slightly suspiciously, but answered my question anyway. "Well, for one, I wish they were more appreciative of my genius. Another thing, I wish the girls weren't so flat-chested."

I smiled. "Yeah, your genius needs to be recognized! You could probably make a device to help us find who's controlling Monokuma or something." Miu looked at me with a rather cocky expression on her face. "I could, couldn't I? But what kind of invention would it be?" She placed her hand on her chin.
"Maybe a camera?" I suggested. Her eyes lit up. "You're right! But it can't be any normal one." I put a thumbs up behind my back, signifying that Miu would do it. "Maybe one with sensors?" I suggested once more.
She placed her fist in her hand, as if she had an "aha" moment. "You're right! I'm a genius. But where would we get cameras and sensors?" I called out to Shuichi and Kaede, who brought in sensors and cameras from the warehouse. "Perfect! I'll get it done by tonight!" Miu took the sensors and skipped to her room. "Be sure to show it to me, too!" I yelled.
Kaede sighed. "You know, I sometimes wonder if you're a mind controller rather than a reader." I chuckled. "Trust me, I can be either when I want to be."
~Time Skip~
I walked by the garden looking for clues on how to get out of here when I heard the sound of drilling. "Oh, Miu's research lab is here!" I said to myself. I walked back into the school when I ran into Himiko.
"Hey Himiko!" I greeted. "Have you seen Shuichi and Kaede?" Tenko scoffed. "You're getting really close with these degenerates, Y/N. Be careful. Anyways, I saw them go that way." I thanked her and ran into Tsumugi next. "Hey Y/N!" Once I asked her where Kaede and Shuichi were, she told me they went to the warehouse.
"Hey there!" I seemed to startle Kaede, making her drop something. "O-oh, hey Y/N! What are you doing here?"
"I was going to tell you Miu was- what's this?" I looked in the box Kaede was standing in front of. "Are these shot put balls?" I asked, lifting one up. "They're heavy!" I paused to put it down. "Is Shuichi in here?" She shook her head. "He went to investigate outside. I came to do the same in here."
I don't remember seeing him outside. Oh well. We went out of the warehouse and explored the school. "Wanna check out our research labs?" I asked. She nodded and we went to hers first. "Wow, look at that big piano!" I exclaimed. She started playing as I watched. "This is calming." I said. I eventually drifted off to sleep.
"Hey Kaede, are y- oh, they're asleep." Shuichi said when he came in. Kaede looked up from the piano and looked at you. "I guess they liked River Flows in You, huh?" She chuckled.
"We should bring them to their room." Shuichi carried you as Kaede walked next to him while walking down the plant covered halls. "Oi! Degenerate!" Shuichi stopped and turned around. "What do you think you're doing with- Oh my gosh, are they sleeping?" Tenko got closer and looked at your sleeping figure.
"Oh my gosh, they're adorable!" Tenko said as she rested her hand on her heart. "I will allow you to bring them to their room, degenerate! But don't try anything funny!" Shuichi brought you to your dorm and laid you on your bed. "How sweet." Kaede gushed as she watched you silently slumber. "It's getting late, let's go to bed." Shuichi said.

I woke up and saw the familiar ceiling of my dorm... and the annoying voice of those Monokubs. "Rise and shine, ursine!" They chanted. I groaned and got up. I walked outside and saw Kaede and Shuichi outside, talking with Angie. "Good morning!" I greeted, looking at Kaede and Shuichi's distressed expressions. "What happened?"
"The people in the dining hall are really upsetting Atua." Angie explained. "They're fighting." My eyes widened as I ran to the dining hall, Kaede and Shuichi following close behind. "No, one of you has to go get the cameras." I reminded. Shuichi nodded and went to Miu's research lab.
I motioned for Angie to come as we ran towards the dining hall. "Please just be verbal fighting." I mumbled to myself. I came in and met eyes with Rantaro. "Thank goodness you're here!" He said, scratching the back of his head. "Please knock some sense into Ryoma." I looked at the small tennis pro. What did he do?
"If we continue doing this, we'll all get annihilated. Might as well participate in this killing game. So kill me." I stepped back. "Ryoma, nobody is going to die." I assured. "We'll... get out... before that." What am I even saying anymore? We have about a day before we're all eliminated. I slapped my face. I can't think like this!
"I don't have a reason to live anymore." Ryoma said. I crouched down to Ryoma's height. "Now wait a minute. What makes you think that?" Ryoma looked at me, with a rather surprised look on his face. "There's more to you than the fact that you killed a mafia with your skills, you know. There's more to everyone than their mistakes."
I stood up and looked at Rantaro. "From the way you're looking at me, it indicates you want to say something, no?" Rantaro nodded. "I'm going to end this game, so don't... do anything unnecessary." I nodded and Ryoma left the dining hall. "What are you planning on doing?" Kaede asked Rantaro. "Well... if I did have an idea, I wouldn't tell you. I don't wanna risk anyone interfering."
Angie smiled. "Okie dokie! Angie will pray for your success." She suddenly had an uncommon dark aura surrounding her. "But if you're lying, Atua says he will punish you for three generations to come, okay?" Scary...
Kirumi looked down, her finger on her chin. "End the killing game? Is that even possible?" Kiyo shook his head. "I think he did that to calm Ryoma down."
"Well aren't you Mr. Rantaro Reader?"
"Do think too foolishly, Y/N."
Angie laughed. "Who knows? Maybe Rantaro's talent is a big explosion! In the end, only Atua knows!" I nodded, in slight agreement. "I'm going to meet Shuichi with the cameras." Kaede told me. I went to my room, but heard footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw Rantaro.
"Yes?"
"Can I come to your room?" I nodded and led him to my dorm. He sat on the couch while I sat on the bed. "Did you want to talk to me about something?" He nodded and faced me. "I wasn't bluffing when I said I would find a way to end this killing game."
"What do you mean?" I asked him. "You seem to be trusted by almost everyone here, so if you were to bring me to the basement then it wouldn't be suspicious, right?" I nodded. Kaede and Shuichi wouldn't suspect anything if I led him there, right?
I walked with Rantaro to the basement, and saw the door of the nearby classroom slightly open. "Kaede, Shuichi." I knocked on the door. "Rantaro and I are going to be downstairs, so can you shut off the cameras?" I looked at them, both with serious expressions, but both had a different look in their eyes.
"What's going on?" Shuichi explained to me what happened with the murder case he solves, and the hatred in the murderer's eyes. "And now... I have trouble looking people in the eye." That's why the hat's a touchy subject.
"Shuichi," He looked up at me. I held his trembling hands in mine. "Do you think it's right to murder people? No matter what the reason was, do you think it's okay?" He shook his head. "You knew that the morals of that murderer were... twisted. You can't let other people's incorrect perspectives affect you." Kaede put her hand on Shuichi's shoulder. "I'd be a mess if you weren't here, so don't think so lowly of yourself." He looked at both of us and smiled. "Th-thank you."
Kaede nodded to me, and I watched her turn off the sensors. "If something happens, shout as loud as you can." She said. I nodded and walked out of the classroom to where Rantaro was standing. "There's a vent here, Kaede. Don't worry about them. If something were to happen, we'd know." I heard Shuichi say.
I walked next to Rantaro as we walked down the halls of the basement. Other people came down to the basement and went into the gaming room. "Oh, do you want to go with them?" He asked me. I shook my head. "I'll go back upstairs." I walked upstairs and told Kaede and Shuichi that everyone's in the game room and they could turn on the sensors.
We heard a noise come from the monitor. "In one hour, everyone dies!" I took a shaky breath. That's what you think, Monokuma. "It's almost-" I was interrupted by the sensor making a ringing sound. All three of us sprinted to the library. "What are you doing here?" I heard a voice say.
I turned around and saw Kaito and Tenko. "Well, no matter, you could join our strategy meeting!" I tilted my head. "Strategy meeting?" Tenko nodded. "W-wait, the mastermind is inside the library!"
Both Kaito and Tenko looked at us, surprised. "Whatever is happening, you need me to Aikido the person inside, right?" Kaede nodded as they moved in. I stayed behind. "Are you coming, Y/N?" Shuichi asked. "I will, I'll just check out what's happening in the game room." He nodded as he walked inside the library.
I walked into the game room and saw everyone that walked down.... except for Rantaro. "Where's Rantaro?" I asked. "Oh, he went to the library." Himiko answered.
...No...
I sprinted to the library and burst through the door.
I saw Kaede, Shuichi, Kaito, and Tenko staring from around the bookcase. I slowly walked over and saw Rantaro's dead body. "No!" I yelled, falling to my knees next to him. "Rantaro!" I held his head in my lap as I caressed his cheek, his blood staining my fingertips. "No, no, no, no, no..." I said as I began to cry. Those small whimpers turned to sobs as I cried over Rantaro's body, my agonizing screams echoing throughout the basement.
The library door burst open. "What's wrong, Gonta hear scream- aAAAAHHHH!" Gonta covered his eyes as he stared at Rantaro's lifeless body. I sobbed as I put my hand on Rantaro's wrist, then neck, hoping for a pulse, breathing, anything. "Rantaro..." I said as I hung my head.
"So this means the killing game has started." Maki concluded. "Actually, I think it may have ended." Kaede said. I looked up at her. "W-what do you mean?" She pointed to the dark screened monitor. "Rantaro may have been the mastermind."
I shook my head aggressively. "He's not! H-he told me that he was going to check out the library since there was something he wanted to check out. He wanted me to come with him! He wouldn't have told me to come with him if he was the mastermind!" As I said that, we heard a chime from the monitor and Monokuma showed up. "A body has been discovered! Everyone gather in the library!"
He appeared before us as I stood up. "Oh, why are you crying there, Y/N?" I step forward, about to attack him when Kokichi puts his arm in front of me. "You saw what happened with Kaito."
"Well, at least a murder took place before the time ran out!" I growled as I held myself back from attacking this stupid bear. "W-what, but the mastermind-"
"You thought Rantaro was the mastermind? What an imagination!" Monokuma laughed. "Rantaro Amami, Ultimate who cares, was the victim. Nothing more, and nothing less." Shuichi put his hand on his chin. "But Rantaro... he had to be." Kaede hummed in agreement. "He was the only one that was here when we saw the bookcase move."
I shook my head. "Remember? The only way we closed the bookcase was when we did it manually." I measured the distance between Rantaro and the bookcase. "He's about 8 feet away from it. Besides, if he was the mastermind, why is he over there instead of in there?" I pointed to the bookcase.
Everyone came in as Shuichi and Kaede were about to check the pictures. "R-Rantaro!" K1-B0 said. "N-no, my dearest Rantaro is dead... no KILLED!" Kokichi sobbed. Dearest? I pursed my lips, my hands trembling against one another.
Kokichi noticed me and walked over. "Y/N, are you- whoa!" I hugged Kokichi and sobbed into his shoulder. "H-he did nothing wrong, I-I don't understand!" I stuttered. Kokichi slowly put his arms around me as I continued to cry.
"Can someone explain the meaning of this?" Kirumi ordered.
"No need for an explanation. Since this is the first kill, the First Blood Perk says you don't do the Class Trial. So if you killed Rantaro, raise your hand!"
Tenko scoffed. "It was probably a degenerate male!" Kaito growled under his breath. "That idiot had to go and get himself killed."
"Y/N." Kokichi lifted my chin as I looked around. No one's raising their hand. "It's either they didn't want to... or they don't want to graduate." I mumbled. Kokichi looked at me. "What do you mean?" I looked at him. "It's either he was killed by accident... or the mastermind killed him."
Kokichi looked at Rantaro's body, then at me. "You really think that?" Monokuma laughed, abruptly. "I see now... the blackened wants a Class Trial! I guess I will give them what they want! But before we hold the trial, you have to investigate first. The information about the victim and murder will be on your Monopads. It will be obvious things, so don't go looking for DNA samples." And with that, he left.
I looked around. Everyone was blaming each other, with no proof. "Maybe it was you, or you!" Miu pointed. "
Eeeney, meeney, miny, moe, who's the killer? Only Atua knows!" Angie said as she was pointing to each person. I clapped my hands to get everyone's attention. "We can't blame each other without any proof. So let's get investigating."
