Jalen asked in a slightly hurt tone.

Jasmine looked up from where she was sitting with Coleman at the Chipotle the three were sitting at.

"Bro, what?" Jasmine said.

Jalen showed the couple his phone that was still on Noelani's most recent Instagram picture.

"I don't know," Jasmine admitted, "She hasn't said anything about an Alex to me or Syd. Did she say something to you or Nimari? I know y'all have your own group chat, right?" She asked Coleman.

"Y'all have a group chat?" Jalen asked in disbelief.

Coleman was suddenly extremely interested in his burrito bowl.

"Bro." Jalen said in a stale tone.

"Okay, she mentioned some weird guy she met when she was walking her dogs but I don't know if that's Alex because she didn't say his name." Coleman said.

"She did mention that, I didn't put the pieces together tho." Jasmine took a sip of her drink.

Jalen scoffed, "So she's moving on. I'm trying to work on us getting back together and she's moving on. Great. Just great. Fucking fantastic."

"I doubt that. You know how long it took for her to actually start liking you? And then how long it took for her to admit it?" Coleman laughed but Jalen wasn't amused.

He pushed aside his own burrito bowl, not feeling hungry any more at the revelation.

"I'm sure it's fine," Jasmine said, "I mean she talks about you a lot. Like I know she likes the little phone calls that y'all do. I'm sure it's fine."

Jasmine didn't sound convinced and she gave her boyfriend a look.

"I need some air." Jalen said, standing up from the booth.

Outside, the sky was gray, reflecting the storm inside of Jalen's mind.

He strolled his way through the outlet mall, unsure of where exactly he was going but sure that he had to get out of the restaurant.

"Oh, shit!"

Jalen looked towards the voice a few feet away to see a Latina with long straight brown hair who stood at least six feet tall.

She was struggling with the various Target bags full of groceries.

One of them had fallen completely through and now cans of food were rolling down the sidewalk.

Jalen quickly walked over, picking up cans as he reached her, "Aye, you good?"

"Uh... No. My sister was supposed to help but she went off with her friend and now," She sounded extremely overwhelmed.

"Are you taking these to your car?" Jalen asked.

"Yeah, would you mind helping me? It won't take long at all, I promise." The girl pleaded.

"Lead the way." Jalen said.

She gave him a grateful expression stumbled a bit, then started to walk to the parking lot.

Jalen followed the girl to a black Mercedes.

She placed the bags on the ground in order to pop the trunk via her car keys.

Together, the two put the bags into her trunk one by one.

"Yo, I found us some-. Is that Jalen Green?" A younger girl who looked about fourteen and resembled the older girl, said as she approached them.

"Who?"

Jalen almost laughed.

The scene reminded Jalen when he had first met Noelani all the way back in August.

"Jalen Green? He's like next up for the NBA?" The girl said.

"Oh." The older girl said simply then closed the trunk and turned to him.

"Thanks for your help with the groceries. Come on Ariana."

Ariana glanced at her sister, "Her name is Camila. She's single by the way."

"Ari! Don't do that!" Camila snapped, "I'm sorry about her. Please ignore her."

"It's fine," Jalen said with a snicker, "She reminds me of my own little sister."

Camila nodded, "Well, uh, thanks again. Come on, Ari. Let's go before the ice cream melts."

Ariana accidentally nudged Jalen as she passed as the two girls got into the car and drove out of the parking lot.

There was a yellow sticky note on the back of his shirt as he stood in their now empty parking lot.

The sticky note held a Fresno phone number and Camila's name on top of it.

Jalen snickered, remembering how Ariana bumped into him.

"Jay!"

Jalen turned to see Coleman and Jasmine walking out of the Chipotle, hand in hand.

"We got your food! Come on!" Coleman continued to call out to him.

Jalen jogged over to them, the sticky note slightly crumped in his hand.

Jasmine's eyes fell on the note, "What's that?"

Jalen was quiet, not wanting to tell his ex girlfriend's best friend that he got another girls number.

"Um, what's that?" She asked again.

Jalen slipped it into his pocket, "Nothing."

"Uh. Okay." Jasmine said, giving Coleman a look.

Coleman shrugged, "Come on," He put his arm around Jasmine as Jalen strolled alongside them, a bit of a third wheel.
