Chapter Thirty Seven – Apology
Daniel’s P.O.V.
I was worried sick about Sera. I know my dad very well. He always means business, very straight forward with his approach. I don’t want him to say something to Sera. I have messed up enough with Sera and now when I want to make it all right, I don’t want dad to spoil everything. He is really wise but when he came to know about Shea, he was really angry.
He said that my wolf might have not rejected Shea if she was only a bit faithful to me. And when I told him that Sera was my mate, not only because of that bet but I really wanted to, he was shocked. He inquired about her letter which claimed that her mate was a rogue. Dad didn’t give me an earful as I had expected. He only wanted to talk to Sera. He looked so serious that it had me worried. What if he says something wrong to Sera? What if she leaves me? I don’t want her to leave me now, not after everything had happened.
I was so immersed in my thoughts I didn’t see my mom sitting at my side on the couch.
“Why are you so tense dear?” Mom asked me with a small smile on her face. I leaned my head on her shoulder and she stroked my hairs with her hand.
“I’m worried about Sera.” I mumbled. “I feel so bad for what I’ve done to her. She had to pay for my mistakes. She had to face consequences of my decisions.”
“Everyone does mistake in life, you are not different. But I must admit that you really committed a huge mistake.” She told me. It was nothing new. I already knew that. Just hearing that from my mom made it feel more real. “But you have to win her Daniel. I haven’t met her but Sera is a nice girl. I think she will give you another chance. If she didn’t accept your rejection and has waited for you so long then I think she will accept you.”
I just hope she is right. Sera’s forgiveness is all in my mind now. I never apologized to her properly. And I also owe an apology to Dave, to whole pack for keeping their Luna away from them and instead giving them the worst Luna ever.
‘Took you long enough to realize. If it wasn’t for me, you might have taken decades when your kids will be moving around. Considering Shea, I wonder if they would even be your kids.’ My wolf taunted me. I wanted to yell at him to shut up but he was completely right. I couldn’t deny it. It’s time to accept my mistakes and remorse instead of blaming everything on others.
I was pulled out of my thoughts when my stomach growled unexpectedly reminding me that I haven’t eaten anything whole day. My mom chuckled.
“Why don’t you eat something?” she pulled away from me.
“I’m waiting for Sera and dad. I want to have dinner with them.” I told her. “I was just expected dad to talk to Sera after dinner and not before. I don’t know what they are talking about.”
“It’s going to be okay Daniel. Have faith on your dad. He will make everything right.” She smiled at me and I nodded at her.

I let out sigh thinking about Sera. She is the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen in my life. She was always beautiful but she had grown to be more beautiful. I can only thinking about her porcelain skin that shines in light and her red inviting lips. The soft curls of her dark hairs always call my fingers to touch them. She has perfect curves which I can stare for eternity and touch them with tenderness and passion.
I groaned as I thought how beautiful she is and how badly I want her. She is amazingly beautiful girl with amazingly beautiful personality. She is feisty and witty- the girl who can exactly show me the right path.
I had all those incredible thoughts of her in my mind when I heard someone clear their throat. Sera was standing a few feet away from me with a displeased look on her face. Her eyes were narrowed at me and I thought my heart was going to jump out of my mouth.
Did dad say anything to him?
I immediately got to my feet and reached her. My arms went around her waist. She looked like she was going to back away but then stopped.
“Is everything alright? Did dad say anything to you?” I asked impatiently waiting for her to answer immediately.
“Well we were there to talk so he did say something to me.” She said in a flat tone.
“Did he say anything wrong? You know his opinion doesn’t matter here. You are my mate and I want to be with you even if someone…” I trailed off knowing she was perfect. It should be me to be blamed for everything, to be punished. I was the one who didn’t deserve her.
She raised an eyebrow at me, daring me to continue. But I had already caught myself.
“What was the conversation about?” I asked.
“Nothing special,” she shrugged casually.
“Nothing special?” I repeated so that she would explain. She just nodded her head. “Why did you look so annoyed then?” I was confused. There must be something important they talked about. Something she didn’t like. Sera hardly voices her thoughts. She is a quiet one. But when she speaks, it is enough to shut anyone’s mouth.
“That look on your face,” she grimaced, “What were you thinking about?” She asked and my went back to what I was thinking before she interrupted. I didn’t think she’d be happy if I told her exactly what was in my mind.
She had crossed her arms, her eyes burning into mine as she waiting for an answer.
“Oh… I was…” I laughed nervously thinking about a way to escape from this situation. If it was Shea, I’m sure she would have loved to hear me talk dirty but this is Sera, she will definitely hang me upside down until my mind is out of gutter.
“You were?” she urged raising both of her eyebrows. Her eyes held amusement in them. They were so beautiful, so green. They had specks of grey and blue in them.
“We should go now. You mom asked me to get you for dinner. Let’s go.” She said interrupting my thoughts and I was glad she let the topic drop.
She walked ahead of me towards the kitchen but I stopped her.
“It’s my house. I will lead you.” I told her and started leading her to kitchen. She had already wounded my male pride a lot. I wanted to make some impression on her. A strong girl like Sera will not like a wimp.

“Okay,” she muttered. I was casting glances at her so often that I didn’t notice the wall standing in front of me and ran directly into it. Pain erupted from my forehead where me head slammed against hard wall.
“Damn,” I grumbled rubbing my forehead.
“Are you okay?” Sera asked from my side. She had amusement written all over her face.
Too much for my male pride.
“Yeah, I was just checking how strong this wall is.” I said patting the hard surface of wall, trying to ignore pain from my head. I need an ice pack or by tomorrow I’ll have a horn on my head.
“Oh”, she said and pursed her lips together in a thin line. “And how strong is the wall?” She asked. Her voice shook a little and I knew she was trying to control her laughter.
“Stronger than my head,” I muttered to myself.
“What was that?” She asked watching me through her long eyelashes. My eyes fixed on those strokes of hairs.
“It is really strong, after all those years.” I told her. “Let’s go to kitchen.” I told her and started heading towards the kitchen, without running into anything else.
When we were seated on the table, my mother and father started telling us about their world tour. It was really exciting to hear how much they enjoyed and I decided just then that I was going to take Sera there. We will have fun, if she accepts me.
I haven’t even apologized to her and I plan on doing that after dinner.
Sera looked like she was enjoying this. She listened to every word with full attention. Her eyes lightened up whenever they talked about new places.
“I really want to go to Alaska one day.” Sera said and I was intrigued by the conversation.
“Why Alaska? Why not Paris- the city of love?” Mom asked throwing me a side glance.
“Oh, I’d love to go there too. But I had always dreamt of going to Alaska. One of my best friends, Grayson lives there.” She told mom. My mind searched for any Grayson from past but I couldn’t quite remember him.
“That’s great Sera.” Mom smiled at her. “What other places will you like to visit?”
“I don’t know. I never thought of travelling the world but from hearing about your tour, I’d like to visit those places someday.”
At that moment I made promise to myself that I will show Sera around the world. We will travel together to different places.
“Daniel,” Sera called and my head immediately snapped to her.
“Yeah,” I asked in a strange voice. It came out squeaky, like a girl. Mom and Dad chuckled while Sera smirked at me.
“I never told Dave I was visiting you. Will you mind link him and tell that I’m okay? And tell him that I’ll be back home soon.”
“Back home? Why don’t you stay over?” I asked her with a frown. I didn’t want her to leave.
She seemed taken aback by my request. She blinked a couple of times and I was wondering what was she thinking about?
“Um… well…” she trailed off.
“Yes Sera, you should stay here, with your mate.” My mom interjected. She looked really happy.
“Okay,” she agreed in a small voice and I beamed at her. She smiled at me, a smile that made my heart stop.
When we were finished, my mother asked me to take a walk in the garden with Sera. I instantly agreed. It was the perfect opportunity to apologize to her. I just hope she forgives me.

“Do you like stars?” I asked randomly in order to start a conversation with her. I didn’t know what to say to her first.
“Yeah, I like staring at them.” She said in a soft voice, a smile on her face.
“Why?”
“Because they are stars,” she answered. I didn’t know what she meant by that but I could tell there was a meaning behind her words. I didn’t want to appear as a guy who knew nothing so I agreed with her.
Silence again settled between us. Wind blew past us. Her hairs flew and their silky softness caressed my cheeks. She tried to tame her beautiful hairs by pulling them down but it didn’t help. She then folded them around her fingers and pulled them up in a bun. A stand of her hair fell on her cheek and I couldn’t stop myself from tucking it behind her ear.
It was then I noticed how close we were. Her face was inches apart from mine. Her lips were so close that I could kiss them so easily. The temptation of kissing those red lips was so great that I couldn’t control myself and leaned down to capture them.
My lips made contact with soft skin of her cheek. My heart sank at the rejection but I smiled pulling away.
She sighed. “You can’t kiss away your problems Daniel.” She said in a stern tone and I knew what she was going to say. I deserved every bit of it.
“I’m sorry.” I mumbled an apology. She narrowed her eyes at me but she was not exactly looking at me. Her eyes were fixed on something behind me.
“I know you are,” she said before I could turn around to see if something was there but I guess there was nothing. She would have told me is there was.
“Give me a chance.” I begged her with my eyes.
“You have to work for it. But just you know, I forgive you for what you did.” She said. Hope bubbled inside me at her words.
“Let’s have a fresh start,” I suggested. Maybe this can be a way to erase all the differences between us.
She stayed quiet for few moments staring at my eyes.
“We can’t have a new start Daniel. You don’t have a restore option in your life.” She said in a quiet voice and I watched her leaving me in the middle of garden and making her way inside the house.
I guess I have messed up a big deal.
I just hope she forgives me. Even though I have not given her a proper apology yet.

Agenda of the Villainess

This novel is a steampunk take on the otome villainess genre, heavily inspired by the late Victorian era of England and with a system of magic based around floweral circuitry.
