《Cold Blood (Completed)》Three- Meeting the Stranger

I took a bus to somewhere. I didn't know where my destination was but it was thousands of miles away from my pack. Being rogue for a week now, I have travelled as far from the pack as possible. I want to be at the farthest place from my pack when I die.
To say my back and legs were sore after the journey of a whole week would be an understatement. Everything ached but it didn't matter.
Today is my birthday. I'm going to die today.
I won't be able to see my wolf. She hasn't talked to me. The only signs of existence she ever showed were the one when I found Daniel was my mate. After that incident, she had gone into a coma.
But my body feels a little more energetic today.
The bus stopped at an unknown place. It was already evening and I couldn't shift into my werewolf inside the bus so I stepped out.
The place was like a small village with small houses at either side of the road. I hardly found any building here. I walked away from the village and towards the forest where I doubt will be wolves, not werewolves, I hope.
Either way, I'm going to die so what's the problem.
I made my way towards a cliff which provided the most beautiful view I had ever seen. There was a large water body down there which I wonder if it was a river or a sea because I couldn't see far in the night. The moon was shining on the top of it. Water was reflecting coldness of full moon that soothed all the upheaval of my heart.
This is the place I choose to die. What can be more perfect than this? To die in this beauty is a pleasure.
"Who are you?" a voice asked and I turned my head so quickly that it almost hurt.
My eyes fell on a figure standing under the shadows. I could tell he was not a human. He didn't smell like human blood. He smelt different. Not just different. He didn't smell at all.
"I'm Sera Winters," I answered coolly. Feeling fear was the last thing in my mind before I died.
"A werewolf," He growled at me. It was not a werewolf growl. It sounded most like a human. But he didn't smell like one. I guess my olfactory indicators are not working today.
"Yeah," I shrugged casually.

The man in shadows finally stepped towards me. Moonlight fell on his face any my eyes widened in awe.
"Wow," I breathed.
He was a walking specimen of Adonis. I won't be wrong if I say he looked hotter than Daniel. He had shining green eyes which matched mine or even more exotic. He was not muscular like Daniel, neither did he have a tan. His pale skin looked extremely beautiful and enchanting under the moonlight. Midnight dark hair rested atop the beautiful head. They were also shining under the moonlight. For a moment I thought I was dreaming.
"What are you doing here?" He asked in a stern voice. That voice sounded sexier after he had shown his pretty face. I can't believe such pretty creatures exist on earth.
"What are you?" I asked mostly in daze ignoring his question.
"I asked you first." He argued.
"I won't answer until you answer my question." I countered. He was not a human and neither a werewolf. I wanted to know what he was exactly.
He chuckled darkly that made the hair on my back stand straight. Maybe I asked the wrong question. But why should I fear anyone before my death?
"You know you are in my land?" He asked raising his perfect dark eyebrow at me. Rest of his features were still stern.
"No. I've just arrived here. Can you tell me what are you?" I asked. I wanted to know what he was before dying.
"You seem very eager. Don't back talk to me again. And the answer to your question is- I'm something you are not. You are not going to ask any question again if you want to live." He said.
"How are you so beautiful?" I asked without thinking but who thinks anything before dying. I'm going to die after all.
His expressions remained cool. How can someone be so beautiful?
"Why are you here?" He asked in a sharp tone pulling me out of my daze and I nodded at him ready to answer.
"I'm a werewolf. Today is my birthday and I'm going to shift in a few minutes. Since it's my first time, I need the help of my mate or a werewolf who would like to be my mate. Since my mate has rejected me, I will not be able to shift completely and my wolf will die. And after that, I will also die. So you can say that I'm here to die." I answered. He seemed surprised by my answer. I revealed everything. What was the point in keeping it a secret anyway? Someone has to know that my mate is an asshole.

"Why here?" He cocked his head. His every gesture was so nice.
"I wanted to go as far from my pack as I could. I took a bus and travelled aimlessly for a week and ended up here. This place is so beautiful. I was hoping to die at this place."
"Why did you run away from your pack? Why didn't you find a wolf there?" He asked.
"It's not easy. Most of them are waiting for their mates. And I didn't want to sound desperate. It would be a big blow to the small pride I had left after my mate refused to accept me."
"Will they not search for you?"
"I left a note back home that said that my mate is a rogue and I eloped with him. Rogues are not easily welcomed by a pack. It was the best excuse I could think of. They won't be searching for me. They will think that I'm somewhere with my mate."
"You're willing to die. Why didn't you put up a fight?"
"My mate is the future Alpha. I can't go against him. Pack members believe him more than a worthless wolf like me." I answered and shrugged again as if it didn't bother me. I've got used to it now.
"Does your mate not feel the need to be with you?"
"He found someone else. He marked her. They are together. Happily ever after for them. Once I die, it will all be over."
"You want to die?" He asked in a mocking voice. I wondered what was he thinking.
"It's not like I have any choice. While shifting, I am going to die. Nothing can stop that."
"Why didn't you take revenge on your mate? If you were definitely going to die, why didn't you make him suffer?"
"I'm not very good in taking revenge. Besides, my brother is going to be the future Beta. I don't want to be a problem for him."
He stared at me intently for a few seconds and I held his gaze. Who won't like to look into his mesmerising green eyes? They didn't hold any emotion but still, they were a sight to behold. If this person charges for a single glance of him, he'd be a billionaire.
I felt a spasm of pain from my back and winced. It's the time- to die.
Something inside me wanted to be released and I didn't know what to do. Every part of my body started aching until I fell on the ground. I bit my lip to stop myself from screaming. It was so painful. I felt bones of my arms and legs shift from their place but didn't form any specific shape that comes near to a werewolf. I couldn't move my body on my own. It hurt so much to even breathe.
An unbearable pain started from my ribcage and my eyes clouded with tears. The pain was so intense that I almost passed out at that moment. I wanted to pass out but something was keeping my senses alive. I knew it was my wolf. She was growling inside my head wanting to be released but I couldn't do anything.
My head started throbbing until a sharp pain hit my head and that pain travelled all over my body before it came back to my brain. Everything stopped. I didn't feel any pain then but I could feel an emptiness inside me.
Tears leaked from my eyes.
My wolf had died.
I lay there still mourning over my wolf.
My breath became laboured and I knew my life was also ending.
My eyelids felt heavy. They were closing but I managed to see a head lower to my chest and then a sharp pain erupted from my heart until it numbed my senses. I was about to black out but the unending agony started again and I almost passed out before the process repeated itself over and over again.
It was so painful that I wanted to die. I didn't know my death would be so painful.
I don't know how long I lay there screaming and then coming to silence and then screaming again. But I did see the sun rising and there was a lot of light that I closed my eyes but the pain didn't reduce. It just kept on increasing. It became cold again and sky became dark.
The faint glow of trees was visible. The pain was killing me but I didn't know what to do.
And finally, it came. Finally, I could feel my life ending. Everything went black and I smiled to myself. It is the end.

Stories Of Indlu
“… to grow, for opportunity, for adventure, to be free. Join the colony ship Nao Vittoria. Be the first to live amongst the stars.” It was obvious from the literature that the NextStar corporation wanted the young, the adventurous and the brilliant. So why were the super rich fighting over seats? Why were AI’s trying to stow away? Did this signify a premature end to human/AI civilisation? Why had some questions directed to NextStar been aggressively sidelined? Why did the colonist inflight entertainment trial produce fatalities? In fact, why colonists at all? Those and many other questions, however, boiled down to a single central question. Why was the world’s most advanced AI dumped with a hundred year babysitting job for 50 million people speeding towards an uninhabitable planet? It made such little sense. The only sure way to get answers, catch a ride on the Nao Vittoria and play the inflight entertainment game, Pax Domini. I joined, and this is my story. Well, I feature. OK, I’m more of a spectator. Actually, I’m completely irrelevant I was just there. I’m only the storyteller. But what a story to tell. --------- Hi All, Content will be published weekly usually Saturday and typical posts will be 25oo to 4ooo words per post. Though for some reason the Royal Road word count does not include the content of tables so some posts may not appear to meet this criteria. Currently I have written sufficient unedited content to keep this schedule for the next 12 months (half way through the first story arc). My current productivity would indicate that I can maintain this schedule for well into the second story arch. This also allows for the additional content that will be posed exclusively on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/StoriesOfIndlu). This additional content follows minor characters, peripheral events, maps and other content that does not take away from the main story. I would love to accelerate the post schedule but to meet this I need the assistance of more beta readers than I currently have. So please let me know if you are interested. - Andy ©2022 Andy Leauter.
