《HER BLIND HUSBAND ( A Wattpad Featured Story)》CHAPTER FORTY NINE

The last thing Hussein Hosseini had ever expected was for him to be called to the police station and that too because of his eldest son, Hisham.

He knew his eldest son all too well and so he knew that Hisham was not the type of man to get arrested anyhow.

And that was what stressed him out the most.

The fact that he did not know as to why his son was arrested.

"I am asking you boys one last time. Is there anything you boys know that I dont?" he asked while sending both Yasir and Khaleel murderous glares.

"Wallah Khalo, we don't."

"You better not because if I find out that you are still hiding something from me, Wallah I am going to hang the both of you upside down and that too for a week."

"Baba..."

"I still cannot believe all this. Here I was thinking that I have three very capable sons who can smoothly run my company but no, a company is the last thing you idiots made it to be.

"Two of my sons decided to to turn my company into a volleyball pitch from where they were throwing shares across to each other like freaking volleyball."

"And then there is my third son...," he said and Khaleel timidly looked up wishing the ground could literally open up and swallow him.

"The one son of mine, whom I thought was the most practical out of all you three but no, he turned out to be the referee in all of this."

"Khalo, we never knew that things..."

"Save it Khaleel. I don't even want to hear it and I am in desperate need of some fresh air, so call me when that 'Akhi' of yours is brought out," said Hussein and Khaleel let out a really long sigh as he watched his Khalo walk out.

This had been one terrible day for sure and he couldn't wait for it to end already.

"Bro, I messed up big time didn't I?" asked Yasir sadly after a while.

Never had he heard Baba's voice laced with so much hurt and disappointment. He seemed to have been immensely hurt by all of this and it was all his fault. No one else's.

"No Yasir. You didn't mess up."

"What do you mean? If only I had listened to you Khaleel, my Akhi would not be behind bars right now."

"This has nothing to do with the shares."

"But..."

"There is a missing link somewhere Yasir but I just don't know what. Hisham is still hiding something from us. I am telling you bro, there is more to this than meets the eye."

"Really? You think so?"

"I know so!"

"Then why do you think he got arrested?"

Khaleel frowned as he passed his hand over his beard. He had no idea as to why Hisham had gotten arrested and to say that he had almost died of shock when he had learnt of the arrest, would be an understatement.

"I don't know bro but whatever it is, I am dead sure that it is but a very very big misunderstanding."

"I hope so too," said Yasir, a slight trace of hope in his voice.

"And even if its not a misunderstanding, lets just hope that Akhi, ran a red light or something and that is why he got arrested," he added and Khaleel let out a small laugh.

"That would be too accurate. Hisham is a pro at running red lights."

"You don't say. I was once with him when he ran a red light. Bro, that experience was terrible."

"What happened?"

"We got caught," said Yasir, his eyes slightly twinkling as he recalled the incidents of that day.

"I am sure Hisham must have come up with a really lame or stupid excuse. Didn't he?"

"He did and it was so lame that I almost died due to embarassment."

"Please don't tell me that he claimed to be colour blind or something," said Khaleel, a horrified expression all over his face.

"Even worse. He told me to pretend that ive passed out or to pretend that im seizing."

"Get out of here."

"Wallah and since I didnt know how to seize, i pretended to have passed out."

"Please tell me that the cop didn't buy it."

"He did."

"Ya Allah...," said Khaleel as he palmed his face. Hisham was really something...

"He actually escorted us to the hospital, where I was put on a stretcher and wheeled into casualty."

"I really wish I could laugh right now," said Khaleel, a sad smile on his face.

"But it won't feel right with Hisham not being here."

"Thats true. I guess the three of us just have to always be together," said Yasir not at all knowing that 'three' was the last thing they were going to be and that too for a very very long time.

"Yes and I really hope that he is in there for some really lame Hisham like thing," added Khaleel, though both brothers very well knew that, that was just but wishful thinking.

Whatever Hisham had gotten arrested for, was something serious because he would not have called their family lawyer for something not too serious.

"Khaleel?"

"Yes Yasir?"

"Why didn't he call us when he got arrested? I mean like, we wouldn't even have known if Henry had not called Baba."

"Beats me as well but I guess once taken into custody, you are only allowed to call your lawyer," replied Khaleel.

"So that means that this is very serious. Isn't it?"

"Unfortunately...yes."

They both sat in silence for a while, pained expressions on both their faces.

"Umm Khaleel?" asked Yasir.

"Yeah?"

"Where is Zulekha? Do you think that she still doesn't know of what happened?"

"Oh trust me she does."

"Then where is she? Shouldn't our sister be here?"

Khaleel immediately let out a shudder afterwhich he turned to look at Yasir, with a very pissed off look.

"First of all Yasir, that woman is not my sister, I repeat, NOT my sister and secondly she will show up. Its night time isn't it?"

"What has nightime got to do with her showing up?" asked Yasir confusedly.

"Because vamps show up at night."

"Vamps as in?"

"Vamps as in vampires."

Yasir hand flew to his face as he shook his head in disbelief. Khaleel's hate for Zulekha was just but to a whole new level.

"Though she is a different kind of a vamp," said Khaleel, a distant look on his face.

"Different as in a good vamp?" asked Yasir.

"Good? Oh please! She is different as in normal vampires usually suck blood while Zulekha..."

"While Zulekha?" asked Yasir confusedly.

"She is the brain eating type of vamp. Forget blood bro, she goes direct for the good stuff."

"I really think you should stop watching horror movies Khaleel. You are scaring the hell out of me bro," said Yasir inwardly grateful that he was married, because he was so going to tightly hug Yumnah while he slept from now on.

Yumnah.

Damn. He had not even apologised to her. He of course had not meant a single thing he had told her. He loved her with all of his heart and he too was extremely excited and he too couldn't wait for their baby to arrive. His outburst had just been...

"What the hell Hussein? Is this how one treats their wife?"

His thoughts were cut short when he heard shouts from outside. He knew that voice alright. It was uncle Ismail's- Zulekha's father.

"Vaaaaaaaamp alert! I had told you she would surface, hadn't I?" asked Khaleel as he quickly got hold of Yasir's hand and led him out.

"Look at what your son did to my daughter."

"What did he do?"

"Can't you see Hussein? That mad son of yours hit my gem of a daughter. How dare he?" he asked as he pointed to her face.

"He ruined her face Hussein. Just see."

"More like ruined the icing on the cake, good job Hisham," muttered Khaleel and Hussein immediately turned to look at him with murderous eyes.

"Hisham can never raise his hand on a woman. Your daughter is lying ," Hussein yelled back.

"And even if he did, she must have provoked him," Khaleel hissed and Hussein once again turned to look at him with a questioning look.

"Khaleel, I am the one talking here. So please..."

"Sorry Khalo."

"Is this how one treats their daughter in law, Hussein? Is this how you Hosseini's mistreat your son's wives?" asked Ismail.

"Don't you dare accuse me of anything Ismail and don't you forget that I have two daughter in laws and the second one doesn't seem to be complaining."

"Of course she won't complain. They obviously treat her way better Papa. She married their blind son, for crying out loud," Zulekha spoke out for the first time.

"Yasir is not blind you cakeface," Khaleel once again interjected but quickly bit his tongue when his eyes met with Hussein's.

"What's with you Khaleel?"

"Nothing Khalo. I promise I won't talk again."

"You better."

"My son may be blind Zulekha but he is still worthy of being married and he is married to one amazing woman I must say."

"Yumnah? Amazing? Oh please. She only married him because of his money. First she tried to woo Khaleel, when it didn't work out, she went for Yasir and later on, she was even after my Hisham."

"You know nothing," Khaleel hissed back, too pissed to even care that he had promised to keep his mouth shut.

"And let me be the judge here Zulekha. Yumnah is MY wife so let me be the one to decide if she married me for my money or not," said Yasir, speaking up for once.

He had been dumbfounded upon hearing Zulekha's venomous voice. Was this the woman he considered to be his sister? Was this the type of woman his Akhi was living with? Had Khaleel been right about her all along?

"Hussein, tell your son's to shut up. Is this how they speak to their elder brother's wife? Its now clear that you have all been mistreating my daughter. I am going to ruin you Hussein," Ismail shouted.

"Please go ahead, I dare you but before you go about to ruin me, please teach your daughter some manners. Teach her how to speak to people with some respect."

"HUSSEIN!"

"Don't you dare shout at me."

"This is not the last of me Hussein," he said as he walked away with his daughter.

"And what the hell is happening in this family? Why the hell are there so many secrets? Did any one of you know that Hisham and Zulekha were having problems?" he asked and both Yasir and Khaleel shook their heads.

"Wallah, when Hisham gets out of there...I am taking you three on a long drive and that too, to the middle of nowhere. This is all nonse..."

"Hussein!"

Hussein immediately turned around, a hopeful look on his face.

"Henry. Where is my son?"

"He is still in there."

"What do you mean by he is still in there? Get him out Henry. What do I pay you for?"

"Hussein, things are quite complicated. The charges are quite grave as well."

"Who the hell pressed charges against him in the first place?"

"Don't you know?" asked Henry, shock evident all over his face.

"Of course I don't know. Who is it, Henry?"

"Zulekha Akram, your son's wife."

"What the...but she was just here a minute ago, she didn't say anything," said Hussein not at all understanding what was going on.

"THAT WITCH. You wait, I will go and show her what charges really are," said Khaleel as he began rolling up his sleeves but Yasir quickly held on to his hand.

"Khaleel calm down."

Hussein shoved his hands into his pockets afterwhich he turned to look at Khaleel with the most murderous glare ever.

"Sorry Khalo. Guess im just too upset with all that's happening."

"We are upset Khaleel so please cool it."

"Sure."

Hussein then turned to Henry who had a very grave expression on his face.

"What are the charges Henry?"

"Hussein listen..."

"I asked what are the charges Henry?"

"

"That is ridiculous. My son can never do that. Get him out of there Henry. I don't care what it takes. Just get him out."

"I could have but Hisham is the one complicating things, Hussein."

"What do you mean?"
