《HER BLIND HUSBAND ( A Wattpad Featured Story)》CHAPTER THIRTY NINE
Advertisement
Two weeks later...
Yasmin patiently waited outside the doctor's office, a warm cup of coffee in her hands. She sighed as she took a sip of her coffee her mind clouded with thoughts of her eldest son, Hisham.
What Hisham had done two weeks ago had surprised her. She knew her eldest son very well and she also knew that he had always wanted to take over the company from his father.
Then why hadn't he?
She personally found his reason of "settling down" to be utter nonsense. What did settling down even mean and till when did he plan to "settle down?"
And why wasn't Zulekha stopping him from this "settling down" of his?
Maybe she would talk to Zulekha. He was doing this for both of them right? Then she should have sense in her to stop her husband from making a grave mistake.
But then again, she didn't know how to speak to her other daughter. She did not share a bond with Zulekha like the way she shared one with Yumnah and the last thing she wanted was to be a meddling mother in law.
She sighed as she took another sip of her coffee. This was all so confusing but her motherly instincts were telling her that there was a miss somewhere. But where?
Everything seemed fine with Hisham whenever he came home. He was still the same Hisham with his happy go lucky nature but now she was convinced that it was all a facade.
Deep down her son was hurting. His rejection for the Ceo's post was a sign but she just could not put a finger on where exactly the problem lay.
All she knew was that as his Mama, she had to find out the what the problem was and solve it.
And that too, as soon as possible.
Her thoughts were cut short when Yumnah barged out of the doctor's office, an excited look on her face. Yasmin quickly put down her coffee and turned to Yumnah with a worried look.
"Yumnah dear, are you okay?"
"Yes Mama but guess what?" she asked half squeling.
Yasmin looked at her daughter confusedly. Okay this was definitely not the Yumnah she had earlier brought to the hospital. Where did that Yumnah go to?
Flashback to that morning...
Yasmin rolled her eyes not at all believing her ears. Was Yumnah really bribing her into not taking her to the hospital? Okay, this was new for sure. She had never experienced this with any of her sons before.
"Mama please, I will make you a tray full of cookies or any other dessert you like," said Yumnah smiling but one could easily make out how fatigued she really was.
"No my love, you have to go to the hospital."
"No Mama, I just hate hospitals. Il give you a head massage, last price."
Yasmin laughed as she shook her head. Was Yumnah selling her options now?
"No!"
"Mamaaa pleaaase," whined Yumnah as she hugged her from behind.
"You know what my dear? Let me call Yasir and lets see what he has to say about this," said Yasmin as she pretended to dial her son's number.
"Okay fine. Il go. Yasir will just be mean to me."
Yasmin laughed as she grabbed her handbag.

Yumnah indeed was just...Yumnah!
So if you compared the morning Yumnah to this one then yes, they were totally different.
"I don't know Yumnah. What is it?"
"Oh Mama, just guess."
"Yumnaaaah, how can i guess? Just tell me already."
"I am pregnant."
***
Yasir internally groaned when he heard his Baba shouting.
Again.
This had been going on for the past two weeks and it had begun to frustrate him. The whole day Baba would shout at almost everyone. Well everyone except for Hisham because his Akhi had made it a point to avoid their Baba like plague.
He just did not understand why the two could not talk things through. He had told Baba as to why Hisham had rejected the post but Baba had refused to buy it.
And today, his Akhi had not even shown up for work.
Great.
"Yasir, where is Hisham?" shouted Baba as he walked into his office.
"I don't know Baba but he might be unwell. He was not feeling well yesterday," Yasir lied.
"Stop lying to me Yasir and tell that Akhi of yours that he is still an employee in this company. He cannot just take an off without a valid reason."
"Okay Baba but just calm down. Its no big deal," said Yasir hoping things would get better soon.
"I don't want to calm down," said Hussein as he slammed the door on his way out.
Yasir threw his head back on his chair and sighed. Things were getting out of hand and that too for no particular reason.
He just couldn't wait to go back home.
Away from all this drama.
Home to Yumnah.
His wife.
****
Yumnah buried her face in her hands as she thought of how she would tell Yasir. She wasn't sure if he would be happy. Whenever she would talk of their twelve children, he would blush or shy away and now that she really was pregnant, she didn't know how he would react.
"Yumnah dear, are you okay?" asked Mama.
"I am okay Mama but I don't know why I am feeling scared. Do you think that Yasir will be happy?"
"Why wouldn't he be?"
"I don't know Mama. We just got married recently. Do you think that its too early for me to be expecting? What if Yasir was not ready for this?"
Yasmin let out a laugh as she shook her head in disbelief.
"Habibty, Yasir loves you so much. Why would he be angry?" Mama asked while laughing.
"I guess i am just overthinking right now."
"Never ever doubt yourself with Yasir, Yumnah. He loves you alot. I have seen how his eyes twinkle and how his face lights up by just hearing you're voice. So how do you think he is going to react when he finds out that you are now carrying his child? I personally think that he is going to be overjoyed."
"I guess you are right," said Yumnah while blushing. She couldn't believe that she was having this conversation with her husband's mother.
"What did Baba say? Did you tell him not to tell Yasir?"
"Don't worry he won't tell him and as for Hussein, he already wanted to order a large baby cot. I stopped him with much difficulty."

Yumnah laughed loudly as she palmed her face. With Baba you could never know. He might even walk in with bags full of diapers in the evening.
"Have you told you're parents yet?" asked Mama.
"Not yet. Il tell them later on," Yumnah replied her happy face now replaced with a sad one.
She knew that her Papa would be over the moon once he found out that he was going to be a grandpa but as for her mother, she wasn't too sure.
The last time they had met, her mother had asked her if Yasir had touched her and now that she was pregnant she knew that her mother would not stop taunting her. And she wasn't mentally prepared for that.
Not yet.
"Its because of you're Mama isn't it? She never really accepted Yasir right?"
"I am so sorry Mama," Yumnah began but was cut short by Yasmin.
"Why are you apologizing my dear? I cant blame Saeeda you know. Maybe I would have reacted the same way too but I just hope that she will one day accept him."
"Just have patience Yumnah. I know how it feels when you're own mother doesn't support you. I know that feeling too well," she added.
Yumnah confusedly looked at Mama. She too knew that feeling? How come?
"Have you experienced it as well?" she asked hoping that she was not prying.
"Yes I have my dear. My mother never wanted me to marry Hussein."
"But why? Baba is such a good person."
Yasmin laughed before she answered.
"Not all that glitters is gold Yumnah. We all have skeletons in our closet."
Yumnah's mouth hung open as she stared at Mama in shock. What one earth did that statement even mean?
"Can I ask what happened?"
"That is a story for another day my dear," said Yasmin as she stood up.
***
The room was silent just the way he had wanted it to be. His migraine was back but this time instead of asking Yumnah for a head massage, he had skillfully tied on of her hijabs tightly around his head.
Today had for sure been a hectic day especially with all of Hitler's shouting. But then again he didnt understand him. Just this afternoon Hitler had been shouting his head off at him while in the evening, while on their way back home, Baba had not stopped whistling one of his happy tunes.
Talk about being bipolar.
Guess Akhi was right. The Hosseinis just loved being dramatic.
"Yasir?" asked Yumnah as she walked into their room. She had not told him yet and she did feel a bit nervous as well.
In the beginning, she had planned to tell him in a special way. She had thought of writing it for him in Braille but then again she had no knowledge of Braille. She had then thought of buying him a tiny sock whose meaning he would have interpreted himself but then she really had had no time to go to the shops.
She slowly walked up to him and sat down on the bed next to him.
"What is it Habibty?" he asked and Yumnah couldn't help but laugh at the way he looked with a scarf tied around his head. Wait, was that her hijab?
"Why have you tied my hijab around you're head?"
"Thats not you're hijab. Its my new head massager okay," he replied smugly.
Yumnah laughed as she unwrapped the hijab from his forehead. Yasir immediately closed his eyes as soon as he felt her fingers dig into his hair.
Boy, was he glad to be married.
"Yasir?" she asked once again.
"Mmmm?"
"I want to tell you something."
Okay that was really lame. Was she just going to tell him so plainly?
"What?"
"Its more of a surprise Habibi," she said biting her tongue.
Surprise? Okay this was totally off a movie she had once watched. But it had to do for now. They would have more children right? She would specially plan it out then, In Sha Allah.
"Hmmm, a surprise? I hope its pineapple tart or a dessert."
Yumnah stopped massaging his head and moved closer to him.
"So where is the surprise?"
"Its right here my love," she said as she took his hand and placed it over her stomach.
"You already ate it Yumnah? How mean!"
"Yasiiiiiir. Get serious. This is important."
"Okay fine fine. I am now serious. What is it habibty?" he asked though Yumnah could clearly see that he was trying not to laugh.
"I am pregnant Yasir," she whispered in his ear and he immediately snapped his head in her direction.
"Really Yumnah?"
"Yes Habibi."
A wide smile lit up his face and he quickly passed his hand through his hair several times.
"Alhamdullilah but I really dont know what to say Yumnah," he said.
"Are you okay with this Yasir?"
"Okay? I am the most happiest man on this planet right now Yumnah.
"But I am mad at you because you didn't tell me first. Is this why Baba took three helpings of icecream during dinner?"
"I guess so. He even wanted to buy a baby cot. Mama had to stop him" said Yumnah laughing.
Yasir too started laughing as he took her hand and brought it to his lips.
"Thank you Yumnah. Thank you for letting me experience the few things i never though I would. Fatherhood being one of them."
"Don't thank me Yasir. Thank Allah. Thank Him for entwining our destinies together."
"Alhamdullilah," he said smiling.
He then felt for her, gently lifted her blouse and placed his warm hand on her belly. Yumnah's heart immediately warmed up at his simple gesture.
"Hey there little one," he whispered and Yumnah's smile widened.
"Please be normal like me and not crazy like you're mother," he addee
half laughing.
"Yasiiiir."
"What? Its the truth okay. This child is a Hosseini. If you combine Hosseini and Saeed blood, oh no. I am actually worried right now you know?"
Yumnah laughed as she laid her head on his shoulder.
"You know what Yumnah?" he asked.
"What?"
"I can't wait for our baby to arrive."
