《HER BLIND HUSBAND ( A Wattpad Featured Story)》CHAPTER THIRTY THREE

Hisham held on to his breathe as he watched the doctor apply the colourless gel over his wife's abdomen. They had their appointment for their very first ultrasound and he had been unable to sleep the entire night due to excitement. He had waited for this day for the past few months and it was finally here.
This was one of the very first steps of his journey as a father and he wanted to cherish each and every single moment.
"Hisham, i am scared," said Zulekha, fear clearly etched all over her face.
She had always had a phobia for hospitals and the hospital smell too was making her feel like throwing up.
"Its okay habibty, i am right here with you," he said as he brought her delicate hand to his lips afterwhich he tightly entwined his hand with hers.
"I am about to start now, are you guys ready?" asked the doctor.
Hisham and Zulekha both nodded and Hisham's eyes widened immediately the first image was cast on the screen. He could not figure out anything but he knew that his baby, his blood was right there.
As the doctor carefully described the images to them, tears welled up in his eyes and as soon as the doctor turned,he bent down and placed a light feathery kiss on his wife's forehead. He was extremely grateful to Allah for this blessing and at at the same time he was grateful to Zulekha because through her, he was going to become be a father.
"Would you like to know the gender of the baby?"
Hisham froze.Could they really know the gender this early? He wasn't sure if he wanted to know. All this was too overwhelming for him.
"Can you know the gender this early?"he asked.
"Well, you have a healthy baby there and yes i can clearly make out the gender," said the doctor.
"Tell us," said Zulekha.
Hisham quickly shook his head in disapproval. He didn't want to know. Not now.He preferred knowing whether it was a boy or a girl the day he would hold his baby in his arms.He wanted to find out then.
"Zulekha, lets wait until..."
"Just tell us doctor," she said totally ignoring her husband.
"It's a girl."
Hisham tightened his grip on Zulekha's hand as he digested what the doctor had just told them.
A girl.
His girl.
A Hosseini.
He could already imagine her running around the house with her tiny legs.Ya Allah,he had so much to learn over these few months. He had to first learn how to braid hair, make ponytails and no, none of her ponytails would be like Stupid Yusra's.No way.
His little girl would be special.Very special.
"Hisham are you happy?"asked Zulekha smiling for the very first time since they had gotten there.

"Of course habibty. You have made me the most happiest man on this planet.Thank you Zulekha," he said as he bent down again and placed another kiss on her forehead.
Zulekha nodded and placed her other hand over his.
Maybe this indeed was new a beginning for both of them.
Or was this pregnancy going to create another havoc in Hisham's already disoriented life?

Yasir closed his eyes and laid his head back on the pillow. He was having a migraine and all he wanted to do was rest.He always experienced migraines whenever he overworked himself.Since he was blind, he had to cram most of the figures hence always overworking his brain.
As much as his work was proving to get difficult day by day, he could proudly say that he had handled the finance department quite well. All the company's money was now well accounted for since he had taken over the department.Well that was what his father and the rest of the board members had said during their last meeting.
And that had given the motivation to work even harder. So even if he got a headache at the end of the day, it was totally worth it.
"Yasir?" asked the one voice he had been craving to hear all day.
"Asalam aleikum habibty," he said smiling but then winced when his head throbbed from pain.
"Waleikum salam.What happened my love?"
"Nothing Yumnah.Its just a headache.How were you're Qur'an classes today?"
"Amazing. We learnt alot of new things today," she said as she studied him.He seemed to be in a lot of pain and he was clearly was doing a very bad job at hiding it.
"Aaah, can't wait for Isha Salah then," he said smiling.
Every Thursday and Friday, after they had prayed Isha, they would both sit in the balcony and Yumnah would repeat to her husband all that she had learnt in Ustadha's class that day.Yasir always listened keenly and later they would both share their views on the topic and just like that the now not so newly wed couple increased their knowledge in deen.
"Me too Habibi but first, Mama has given me oil to massage you're forehead," she said smiling.
"No thanks."
"And why not?"she asked her hand on her hip.
"Because the oil stinks.I dont like it."
"Yasir, come on.You will feel much better," she said as she climbed next to him on the bed.
Yasir immediately felt for her, pulled her closer to himself and buried his face in her hair. Her hair always smelled great and he would rather stay like this next to her than get some stinky oil applied to his forehead.
"Yasir please," she said as she pulled back her hair and placed two light kissed on both of his eyes.Something she knew that he loved.

"Fine but only if you promise to give me four more kisses on each eye," he said.
"Four on each?Thats too many Yasir."
"Fine then forget it.Il just die with this headache."
"Okay just come and sit already," she said.
"First kiss now or no massage," he said and Yumnah didnt fail to notice the slight smirk on his face.
"Not now Yasir.Either you come or im going to call Hitler.Get a massage from him then," she said.
Yasir let out a groan as he stood up and let Yumnah help him sit down on the carpet.
"You are such a bad wife Yumnah.Allah is seeing you.Fear Allah okay," he joked.
"Allah is always seeing and he is also seeing what a stubborn husband you are," she said as she poured a little oil on his head.
"Me? Stubborn? You wish Yumnah.Im the most amazing husband ever."
"That you are my love. That you are."
Yasir smiled upon hearing her words and as soon as he felt her fingers in his hair, he closed his eyes.It was like a magical touch and his migraine was already much better. He always used to love it whenever his Mama gave him a head massage but Yumnah's touch was different. As much as it gave him relief, it also sent small tingles over the rest of his body.
"Yumnah?" he asked after a while.
"Yes my love?"
"You always said that you loved me even before we got married. When did you realise you're feelings for me,"he asked her.
"I dont know Yasir. It just happened. It didn't happen in a day though but all i remember is that i always wanted to see you and be around you," she said as she continued to gently massage his head.
"Wow, am i really that handsome?"
"Yasiiiir," she said laughing. He was just...
"What? You said you always wanted to see me, so i guess i am very handsome."
"You wish."
"Whatever Yumnah but seriously habibty, you could always have married another man who at least could see.Why did you choose me?"
"Well because you are very handsome," she joked.
"Yeah as if you of all people would marry for looks," he said.
Yumnah let out a laugh shaking her head.
"I dont know Yasir.I always thought that you and i were always meant to be but most of all i always knew that you were good from here," she said as she placed her hand over his heart.
"You have the best heart Yumnah and i am really glad that i met you," he said.
Yumnah turned crimson red and she quickly stood up.
"Yumnah, dont stop yet.I was feeling much better."
"Sorry Habibi, but its only five minutes left to Maghrib."
Yasir nodded in understanding. That massage had been the best one he had ever had.He was going to have many other fake headaches from now on even if it meant getting that stinky oil applied on him.
"Here you go Yasir," she said as she handed him a clean t shirt.
"JazakAllah habibty and Yumnah?"
"Yeah?"
"Please look the other way," he said shyly.
Yumnah laughed as she turned away.He was still way too shy around her.She made her way to the bathroom and as she closed the door, she didnt fail to catch a glimpse of her husband's well toned, muscular back.
Yasir smiled to himself as he put on his tshirt. He still felt shy around but he wasn't sure if it was shyness.Lets just say that his heart would begin racing whenever he was changing and he knew that she was watching him.He stood patiently as he waited for her to come out so that he too could perform wudhu.
"Yumnah?" he asked as soon as he heard the bathroom door open.
"Yes Yasir?"
"Please could you put the extra oil away in the closet.I still can't stand its smell," he said scrunching his nose.
"Of course."
Yumnah took the tiny bottle and she opened the closet to put in the bottle and immediately her hand stilled when her eyes landed on an umbrella.
Her umbrella.
Which she had given him years ago.
"Yasir, did you keep my umbrella all these years Habibi?"she asked her voice slightly quivering.
"Which umbrella Yumnah? You never gave me you're umbrella," he said confusedly.
"The pink umbrella Yasir. Its here, in you're closet."
Yasir inhaled deeply as he realisation hit him.
"Yumnah was that you that day?"
"It was," she replied afterwhich she ran to him and embraced him.Yasir immediately circled his hands around her waist hugging her even tighter.Tears threatened to spill out of his eyes too when he felt her tears wet his chest.
He then closed his eyes and whispered the the three words his wife had always yearned to hear from him.
I love you Yumnah."
"I love you too Yasir."
They remained in each others embrace until they heard the Maghrib Adhan.
"Come my love, lets pray," he said and immediately Yumnah helped him find his way to their two identical prayer mats.
And together they prayed their Salah both thanking Allah for helping them find each other.
