《Merciful》chapter five

Ali woke up with a pounding headache, as he got up from the bed. He looked to his side and saw the girl from last night sleeping bare.

Regardless of his headache, he got up and took his garments from the floor and put them on leaving the hotel room, and the girl. He called his secretary-John, to get a car ready for him. And, not a couple of minutes later a black Range Rover pulled in to the driveway of the hotel.

He sat in the car, as the chauffeur drove him home. Ali felt utterly unclean and couldn't wait to take a hot shower and head to work. So when the car pulled into his house, he went inside immediately.

As he entered his room, he saw his clothes from yesterday still on the ground and his bedroom untidy. It was as if someone flipped a switch in his brain and his entire being went into a massive outrage mode.

He angrily called his housekeeper up through the screen beside his bed, and the middle-aged lady came up nervously as she sensed the anger in his voice.

"Tell me, why the hell my room isn't clean," He asked.

"I-I f-fell s-sick y-y-yesterday-," She tried to speak.

"Tell me what the fuck I should do, when you can't do the ONE fucking job I hired you for." He spoke.

"Please, Sir! Please! I will clean it in a matter of a second, please don't fire-"

"Yeah yeah, get to work. This is your last chance." He said utterly pissed off, initially thinking to fire her but too tired to even think of finding and hiring a new housekeeper.

He got into the shower and washed off all of last night's doings from his body, and when he was finished he began to get ready for work. He took out a white dress shirt with black pants- and left the top two buttons of his shirt open. He took out a silver Rolex from his watch collection and put it on.

When he came out from the washroom his room was cleaned, smelling of washed bedsheets, and clean floors. He sighed and walked out. He decided to drive to work himself today, so he went to his garage and pulled his Audi out of the driveway.

Ali loved cars. He was a very materialistic person who craved to possess every luxury the world had to offer. He didn't wear any piece of clothing that wasn't branded, didn't own any car that wasn't featured for being expensive, or own an accessory that wasn't remarkably overpriced.

Ali turned his car into the parking lot of his work building and parked it. Getting out of the car and heading into the building, he could feel the glances at him. Everyone always stopped to take a look at him when he stepped into a building- and that was the type of power he loved to hold.

Entering his office, Ali took a seat on his chair. Logging onto the computer, and buzzing in his assistant to come in.

"Good Morning, sir." She spoke, walking in.

"You have a couple of messages, which I forwarded to you. These are some documents that Mr. Paul sent in for you to proof-read and sign, and finally, there was a call from Mrs. Cooper she said she would like to have a meeting with you via video call because she is in London- so I will set that up when you are ready." She said, handing him a set of files.

"Good, set up the meeting for 9 AM. You may go." He said.

He opened all the files and read them thoroughly as he signed them one by one. When he finished he clicked his phone to play his messages.

"Hey Ali it's Erika, I am back from New York and I would like to catch up. So call me back to make dinner plans with me," The message read.

Ali picked up the phone and called her back.

"Hello, darling. Guess you heard my message?" Ericka said picking up.

"Hello, when did you come back?" Ali asked.

"I just landed last night. I called John and he told me you were busy, and also why you were busy upon my request. Can't say it didn't hurt." She spoke.

"We'll talk over dinner tonight, I'll pick you up." He said.

"Sounds lovely," She replied.

"Good. See you then." He said, hanging up.

Ericka was the Chief Financial Officer, she was also Ali's childhood friend. They grew up together, and she seemed to be the only girl in his life that he hadn't neglected. You could say that they were close, at least for someone like Ali.

Still, even she wasn't able to get any emotions out of him, she only knew what she had undergone with him, not what he went through alone or any of his feelings. They were good friends that shared romantic feelings towards each other as they had slept together a couple of times, however, neither of them put a label on it.

Ali got back to work and attended an online meeting with one of his investors which turned out to be an hour long. So when he finally ended it, he leaned back and stretched his neck. He sipped his black coffee and went through some of his documents until his cell phone began to ring.

He looked at the caller ID and it was Romano- one of his men.

"What?" Ali picked up,

"Boss, there's some new information I found. It is a connection to Abdul." He spoke.

"What is it?" Ali asked.

"It's his house, and perhaps his daughter," Romano said.

"This better be correct," Ali replied, hanging up.

Ali got up hurriedly and left his office, but before leaving he stopped at his assistant's desk.

"Inform Aryan that I will be gone for the rest of the day, and reschedule my last meeting." He said,

"But sir, your 8'o clock is important with Mr. Henders-"

"I didn't ask. Reschedule it." He said, walking out.

Ali left the building and got into his car, starting to drive to one of the locations. He drove fast, and down the highway into the town, and in no time he had arrived at the building. Thus he got out of the car and went inside, following the security to where Romano was.

Romano was a tech guy, there was nothing technical he couldn't do. So this came as no surprise to Ali that he found a link. Ali went inside the room, and Romano stood up to let Ali sit down on the chair in front of the desktop.

Ali looked at the screen and he saw a girl with a scarf on her head, as she unlocked her car. He looked back at Romano with furrowed eyebrows, not apprehending what or who he was looking at.

"Who the hell is this?" He said

"This girl is Abdul's daughter," Romano said.

"I scanned her face through the databases, and her name is Anaya Abassi, her mother or Abdul's wife is Aisha Abdul, who passed away thirteen years ago. There is no footage of her and Abdul together, however, on certification, he is certainly her father." Romano reported.

"What the fuck," Ali muttered, playing the video of the girl getting into her car.

"What else can you find out about her?" Ali questioned.

Romano took the mouse and scrolled around, typing in some words rapidly. As he again turned to Ali to tell him more.

"She is twenty-three years old. She works at Parkway Elementary School as a first-grade teacher who lives at 9956 BirdCreek Blvd- which is where we believe Abdul also resides. And the rest of the information is just her medical records." He said.

Ali stayed still for a moment, his index finger on his lips as he thought of what to do.

"We can't raid the house, as it's surprisingly located in a very populated neighborhood. It is too risky." Romano stated.

"They live as if they don't know they are connected to a Mafia," Romano added.

Ali nodded at him, and kept quiet for another second and then sat up straight. With a small smirk on his face.

His only daughter, his only family. She could be the bait to get Abdul to come to him directly.

Ali decided to take the chance that was in front of him.

"We need to capture his daughter," Ali said, smirking mischievously.
