So if you've read my 'How To Write SciFi' book (which is no one lol) I've already expressed how bad I was at writing fight scenes and how I managed to gain the skills to write fight scenes.

So here are my tips for writing fight scenes:

1. Plan out the fight scene in your head. Play it out like a movie and take mental notes of what is going on. Replay the scene again and again until you feel like you can write it out. When writing the actual fight scene, keep referring to what you planned out in your head, this way you will always have a mental prompt to help you out.

2. Your mood is important when writing a fight scene. Make sure you are in the right mindset. Play some music that you feel links to what you're writing- it can be slow or fast music depending on your story.

3. Make sure you know what happens at the end. You should always plan out who is going to be the victor of the fight, what weapons will be used and where the fight is held.

4. Focus on emotions. Although action is important in fight scenes, some writers get so caught up in the fighting that they forget that their characters have emotions and feelings. Tell your reader how your character is feeling. Are they scared? Worried? Excited?

5. Speech. The interactions between the characters fighting can be very interesting to your reader. Throw in some insults, angry phrases and sarcasm to really liven up your fight scenes.

6. Is the fight scene important? Some writers just throw in fight scenes where they aren't needed and they always sound rushed or random. Ask yourself if you really need the fight scene in your book.

7. Injuries. If your character is hit really badly or falls off a building (I don't know) they will become injured unless they are superhuman. And they will probably be injured for a long time.
