《How To: Get More Reads On Wattpad》Voting/ pm
Advertisement
Now, you have you followers. You have followers that write in the same genre as you. You have the platform to gain reads.
But getting your followers to notice your book may be harder than it seems. Some people just follow people back without even looking at that person's profile. A way to get someone to click on your profile is to come up in their notifications. There are two ways to do this:
a) pm them (private message them)
b) vote on their story/stories
Let's start with plan A:
What I say is find a follower that you have a lot in common with (you can look in their bio to see) and start up a conversation.
The more you talk to someone, the more you become friends with them. Friends on Wattpad are very supportive and they always seem to vote on your work, and you always vote on theirs. Making friends on Wattpad means your read count, vote count and comments will go up significantly. Plus you make loads of great friends.
Another thing you can do with private messaging people is just to ask people to read your book, however this strategy is flawed UNLESS YOU DO IT RIGHT.
Don't even think about making a copy and paste paragraph that you send to everyone, because a majority of people will just ignore you. Instead I would choose a few people who tend to vote on stories (with small read counts) and write them a personalised message. Look in their bio and if it says 'I love One Direction' and your story is a Harry Styles fanfics you can simply say to them:
Hey! I saw you like One Direction- I've just started writing a fanfic about Harry- if you could please check it out and . I ^_^

So I've highlighted the important bits in bold and let me explain why:
- - this gives you some common interests and the person is more likely to listen to what your saying
this is polite and shows that you are not forcing them to do anything
- this shows you're not vote hungry or read hungry; feedback is also really useful when writing a new book as you can know if people like it
people are more inclined to do things if they know someone will do the same thing in return. However, if they give you nice feedback (or nasty feedback) don't feel inclined to be nice/nasty to them. Be honest.
just shows that your a nice person.
Plan B:
If you vote on someone's work, they usually return the favour without you even having to ask. This is because you come up a lot in their notifications, and at some point they will be curious as to who this new reader is. This means they check out your profile and maybe even your works! This means you get more exposure and more readers.
Hope this will help!
- E
(Note that these techniques only really work on small accounts like your own, I doubt if you vote on big stories (with millions of reads) the author will check out your books)

This Used to be About Dungeons
This Used to be About Dungeons is a comfy slice-of-life adventuring story that occasionally features dungeons. Updates Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Mostly it's about walking in the woods with a friend, looking for mushrooms to put in your soup, or haggling with the guy selling squash, or taking care of a neglected garden. It's putting some jam on shortbread biscuits. And yes, sometimes you go down into the dungeons with your friends, and you kill monsters there, or disarm traps, but when you come out, you realize you've found the perfect magic item to give to one of the local kids that helped you out when your cat was sick. Look, the dungeons are always going to be there, and sometimes you need to make a journey to one of the Spirit Gates, or make a pilgrimage with the local Cleric of Symmetry to a holy shrine. Your tour through the local dungeons can wait. You'll have rivalries with other groups, and find some dungeon eggs that need to be carefully incubated in case they turn out to be something valuable, and help a friend to build a fishing weir. There's a big world out there, a mostly tame place with lots of magic, and even more to do and see. Join me, won't you?The cover image is Morning Sunlight Effect, Eragny, by Camille Pissarro.

Now, she must make her way in the city's criminal underbelly with nothing but a diamond-edged powersaw and her own baser instincts-but life in D-block is quick and brutal, and these may not be enough... Updates about once a week; 3000 word chapters. Cover is a photo by the author, with font by DO Diseno Grafico.
8 252Evolution System+Customisation System=Stronger System? Maybe not though...
Synopsis- Dying due to what seemed to be an unavoidable drunken punch, Connor Connolly a 24-year-old man from England who is a little different when compared to the "normal public" keeps those differences along with a few additions when his soul transmigrates into a fantasy world of numerous opportunities compared to the mundane life of the earth where boredom was rife. His only asset? His mind and most importantly his imagination which he must maintain with practical knowledge from his previous life! Will his previous life's fascination with gathering what seemed to be random wildlife knowledge assist this hope for survival in the upcoming trials he faces that are beyond his imagination or make his situation worse because his past life knowledge is not always best in the world he has found himself a part of... All he has to go on are the words of the God who he heard from when he arrived in this crazy world and said "blessings" rewarded to him by this God. [Stupid human, I do not have time for your mortal questions, so I will give you the basic rules” of my planet. They are “evolve to improve oneself for yourself” and for you a unique ability that can be likened to your so-called concept of “customization” to further adapt oneself to the environment and for you to use your so-called “advantage of being reborn with your past life experience and knowledge”. Beware though, the strength you gain will balance itself out when compared to the aboriginals for the system I have created over my lifetime is perfection embodied] This is less brief in the actual prologue by the way as it also serves the purpose of giving you an idea of the world that Connor has been thrown into... :P Schedule: 2-3 Chapters a week, however, there could be more chapters released on some occasions.
8 140The Sword God and the Eight Swords
Suddenly awakened in an abandoned mansion which later realized that it was his home; but it seems to be a vast different in what he saw before he fell unconscious. Seeing there's no one on the place anxiety and confusion filled his mind and heart. Now he set foot his journey seeking the truth of sudden change. CREDITS TO WHOM THE OWNER OF THESE BEAUTIFUL PICTURES Background - I picked up the BG because of the 8 swords. Though I removed the girl because it was some sort of a ritual and our MC is a guy. The Swordsman - His look in the description was vastly different, but just think of him as a modern guy and that person in the cover was close. IMO. BIG CREDITS TO - the person who points out the mistake of my cover. vkg313 - the person who have a keen and sharp eyesight. He could look into the truth and mistakes of anything he wanted to see. Thus, unveiling the mistake of my cover. Instead of 'Eight Swords', it turned out to be just 'Eight Sword'. So thanks for the tip, and I appreciate it.
