《The mafia ball.》43|This Can't Be Happening

Nova's POV
I can't stop fidgeting.
We're going over the rescue plan before we bust in there. I glance at the blue prints of the building Kelly's being held in. The building is a run down hanger just by the docks, it's the perfect place to hide her and I scold myself for not thinking about it earlier.
"If we go in here, we'll be in and out before they even know what's happening."
"I've gathered a few guys to cover blind spots. If anything needs to happen, we're your guys." Ethan points to the many sky windows where snipers will be set up.
"She's most likely out in the open, so we don't really have time to be stealthy once we get in."
"I've called in some of my brothers guys, they'll back me up." Eva says circling the entrance she's coming in from.
"With the people we've all gathered, we'll be sure to get Kelly out of there safely." Grayson says. "If any of you fuck this up, I will personally kill you." He glares at the many people surrounding us that have been called in to help.
"Are you sure we'll get her?" I can't help but be worried that this could go wrong. Grayson turns to me his eyes softening.
"I'll make sure of it, Angel." I purse my lips and nod my head. "Right we're going in in five. Gear up." He tosses me a black bulletproof vest which I don't bother fighting him on, having already had this argument today.
As you can see I didn't win this one.
I strap it onto my body as wells as every daggers and gun I practically own. Every inch of me is covered in weapons. My thighs, ankles, chest and back. I'm taking very limited chances and I would also love the chance to kill these assholes who took my best friend.
"Okay, listen up!" Everyone looks towards Grayson who stands beside me with his, 'don't fuck with me' look. It's hot. "Everyone knows the plan so I don't expect anyone to fuck it up."
I glance my eyes around everyone, stern looks and hard glares cover every inch of there faces. Weapons glisten in the moonlight, our body's blending into the dark.
"We go in, I want Liam's group to protect Kelly and get her out of there as fast as you can. Ethans group, take out as many people as you can from the top, my guys," I look towards Grayson's group who look the most deadliest group of all, "You have one job, make sure Nova doesn't get harmed in any way. If I find one scratch on her; you're all dead."
My heart warms at his protectiveness over me, even though this was another argument we had. Again, he won it.
"Got it?"
"Yes, boss."
"Right, move forward." All the groups split up and go to there destinations. I cast a look around the dark building following Grayson's lead, our bodies flanking either side of the huge door. Grayson sends a nod to the group of our men and with his command they begin to bust open the door with explosives.
"Go go, go!" We all file in and immediately guns are being fired. People go down every second as we take over the hanger. The gun sends hard vibrations to my body as I shoot anyone who is part of the scorpios gang.
My eyes go to Grayson every now and then, making sure he's okay and not dying on me. I nearly begin to cry in relief when I see Kelly huddled around by our guys. I run over there but get stopped by a Scorpio member. He sends a punch to my stomach making my body hunch forwards slightly, the vest protecting me.

I let out an annoyed groan and take out a dagger that's strapped to my thigh. I send him a harsh glare as I make a step towards him. He goes to sidestep but I see the move coming and meet him to the side. My dagger goes deep into his stomach, the handle being the only thing that's left of it. I don't bother to watch him die or torture him more. I place my foot on him and push him to the floor, the sound of my dagger pulling out of him sending tingles down my body.
He falls to the floor with a gasp. I run past him and towards where I last saw Kelly. I panic when I can't see her anymore, my eyes scan the building only seeing many body fighting. I let out a grunt as I get shoved to the floor. As I turn my body so I'm laying on my back, a beefy girl pounces on top of me taking my own dagger and holding it up to my neck.
I'm sorry? Who does this bitch thinks she is?
"Really? You're going to use my own dagger on me?" I snort.
"I think it will be fitting." She shrugs with a snarl. I scoff at her smug face. I punch her in the nose feeling her bones crunch beneath my fist. Her head tips back her hands cupping her nose that's already spouting blood down her face. I don't even wast another second and tackle her to the floor, she groans beneath me and I smirk.
Not so tough now bitch.
I fight for the dagger in her hand rolling my eyes as she clings on to it for dear life. "You really want it huh?" I mumble.
Does she not think I have more?
I take out my other dagger and freeze with a clenched jaw. I feel blood trickle down my throat and down my chest. This bitch just cut me with my own dagger. "Now you're just asking for it." I huff and slam my hand down into her heart. I watch as the life drains from her eyes with satisfaction. "Since you wanted it so badly." I whisper to her even though she can't hear me and leave the dagger in her body.
I stand up and turn my nose up at the sight of my blood coating my finger tips. What is the satisfaction with my neck? First I get strangled and now a bitch is cutting it. The only person who should have there hands around my throat is Grayson.
I mentally roll my eyes.
"Nova!" I snap my head to Grayson as he narrows his eyes at the sight of my neck. "You!" He turns to the nearest person near him. "What the fuck did I say about protecting her?" The guy turns to Grayson then me and paling at the sight of me.
Grayson takes his gun and goes to shoot him but I stop him before he kills the guy. "Oh Grayson, I can handle myself. This is nothing." I scoff.
He glares at the guy, turning to me with a softer stare. "Are you sure you're okay?" He asks. I nod my head with a small smile.
"What are you still standing there for, you idiot!" He yells at the guy.
"Take care of yourself won't you, Grayson." I merely whisper, my hand running through his soft hair. He rolls his eyes with a smirk, wrapping his hands around my waist.

"Oh Nova, I can take care of myself." He mocks my words. I shake my head letting him kiss my cheek softly. "Seriously, if you get anymore harmed then you already are, I will have to kill someone." He shrugs.
I laugh lightly and kiss his lips. His lips are a bit cold due to the chilly night in England. But as always, his body is as warm as a heater that always makes me feel warm and safe. He slips his tongue into my mouth and I gladly let him dominate the kiss, loving the way it makes me feel.
I pull away remembering where we are and say, "I love you Grayson." His face goes slack and I unwrap his arms from my body and leave before he can say he doesn't feel the same.
I don't know why I said that, I've never felt this way for anyone. I've never committed to anyone besides my family and my friends. Well, my only friend. Kelly has been my only friend for a reason, I just don't do well with any type of relationship. The word love wasn't something that was openly shared around in my world.
I'm sure it wasn't for Grayson either.
If I'm being completely honest, love terrifies me.
So I walk away from Grayson beside I don't think I'll be able to look him in the eyes after that. I know Grayson never showed affection in his life before and I'm glad he can open up to me and let me see every side of him. But love, I don't think that even goes through his mind.
He hasn't been given it.
Can Grayson find somewhere in him to love me back?
That's an answer I don't think I really want to gamble with.
"Where is she Liam?" I practically shout through the ear piece.
"We've got her Nova, she's safe." Although my body fills with relief hearing this, I can't help but let a sarcastic remark slide.
"That's great but it's not what I asked, dumb ass."
"She's out front."
"I'm on my way."
"You know, I would appreciate a bit more gratitude."
"Fuck off, Liam." I grumble and make my way towards Kelly.
I pull out my guns, one in each hand and begin to fire it aimlessly around me. From the corner of my eyes I see a man try to run up to me, I roll my eyes and aim the gun towards him and watch as he falls to the floor.
Asshole.
When I get outside, it's just as much havoc as it is inside. Men and women fighting and rolling around on the floor. However, outside our men easily over number the amount of scorpios. Inside it's a close number between both sides making it a much more longer and tougher battle.
"Kelly." I breath.
Her eyes meet mine and I take in her state. Her face has been beaten up a bit and her wrist have large red rope burns from being tied up. I rush over to her and crush her into a hug. A blanket is wrapped around her small body. "I'm so sorry." I say over and over again.
"No, it's my fault." She mumbles with a frown.
"What are you on about?" I ask looking at her as if she's gone crazy.
"I shouldn't of trusted Nathan. I just...I didn't think he would do that, you know?" I pull her back into a hug thankful that she's so close to me again.
"It's not your fault, kels." I push her hair back and wince at the nasty bruise surrounding her eye.
She seems to know I'm looking at her bruise because she shakes her head, shaking off my hand. "I got that when I punched a dude. You know what you taught me?" I nod my head. "Well I used it! Turns out I'm pretty good." She shrugs her head with a small smile.
I too smile at how she's still got her happy spirits after being kidnapped and beaten. I pull her against me again, so thankful she's okay and not dead. I don't think I would ever forgive myself if something happened to her.
"Fire! Fall back, fall back!" My head snaps to the building watching as small flames climb there way up the building getting bigger and bigger.
I look to Kelly and she nods her head letting me go. I sprint towards the building, my eyes looking at every single face that runs past me none of which being Grayson. I push people out of my way and come to a stop looking around for Grayson.
"Grayson!" I shout when I see his body laying on the floor, a large pillar laying across his body pinning him down. I rush towards him and fall to my knees. "Oh god." I breath.
"Hey, I'm fine." I look towards him and at that moment forget about what I said. Only one thing is running through my mind, I need to get Grayson out.
"We'll get you out of here." I say not sure who I'm trying to comfort more. I grip the pillar and put everything I have and try to push it off him. I blow out a breath and try again.
"You need to leave, Angel." I ignore Grayson and lift the pillar again. It lifts by an inch I nearly cry when I can't hold it any longer and it drops down again.
"I'm not leaving without you." I say.
"Angel, look at me."
"Uh! I can get it off, just-just let me try again!" I scream.
"Angel." The way Grayson says my nickname has me pausing and looking at him. I let out a defeated cry. "I love you too." He says softly, gripping onto my hand.
"No! You can't just say that when you're lying here." I cry harder, wrapping my arms around his chest not willing to let go. "You can't leave me." I cry. I can feel the heat of the flames on my back, sweat gathering up on the back of my neck.
"Get her out of here Liam." I look up and see Liam behind me.
"No! He can help, if we do it together." I get up again and push the pillar. "Don't just stand there! Help me!" I shout. Liam shares a look with Grayson and I know he's not going to help me.
"Please? You promised." I cry.
Grayson nods his head at me his eyes filling with regret. "I know Angel. Trust me, I don't want to be here just as much as you don't want me to."
"Then let Liam at least try!" I shout.
"You don't have enough time." I shake my head stubbornly and push my hands through his hair, never wanting to let go of his warm embrace. "Remember Angel, I will always love you." He whisper painfully if my ear. I look down to my hand to see him sliding his ring onto my finger.
"I love you too." I whisper.
Before I even know what's happening, Liam's arms are wrapping around my waist pulling me away from Grayson. I try to hold onto Grayson's hand but he lets it go as he watches me being pulled further away from him.
"No! Let me go!" I scream. I kick and punch Liam as he runs out of the building that has the love of my life trapped in. Liam lets me go now far away from the building. I push past him, him fighting to hold onto me. I manage to get out of his hold and run back towards the building.
"Nova, stop!"
"Don't go back!"
Liam and Kelly yell but I need to get back to Grayson.
I get pushed back by a sudden force, my body scraping against the hard floor. I can feel my skin being ripped open and blood begins to fall. I hit my head but I don't pay any mind to it my eyes stuck on the sight in front of me.
The sudden force was the building blowing up and being completely eaten up my burning hot flames. Tears silently fall down my face as I stare at the flames no longer seeing a building.
I scramble up to my feet and stare at it.
That's it he's gone.
Grayson's gone.
My knees buckle beneath me. I let out a loud heartbroken scream, "Grayson!"
I clutch my chest feeling my heart break.
No. This can't be happening.
"Grayson!"
But it has.
Grayson's dead.

8 203The Mentor
This one is for my daughter. She talked me into it (again) and it is her favorite genre of books. So, Bet, this one is for you. The true-bloods, the masters, they came first. That was hammered into Heath's head since he could walk with both words and fists by Karen. As a guardian and half-blood bastard of his vampire father, he would never know peace. His duty as a dhampir, his duty was clear, his fate sealed. Heath was to serve Gerald, an aging Vampire Lord, one who was of pure blood, born to the race, until Heath outlived his prime and then he would pass on the knowledge that was passed to him onto a new bastard to carry protecting the bloodline. But was it necessarily his fate? Could a sterile half breed such as himself, someone who did not exist in the human world, live anywhere in the world on the light? After a particularly nasty encounter with his Mentor, Heath is on the run. Set on not becoming the new guardian and knowing that decision has now marked him for death. The hunt is on and somewhere behind him is Joshua, the heir of his Master, and the thing that plagues his nightmare, his Mentor Karen.
