Chapter 2|Eye Catcher
Grayson
"I'm so bored!" My best friend, Liam whines. I let out a bored sigh of agreement. Every year I come to this ball, dress up in stupid shirts and ties that suffocate me and to top it all off I have my father pointing out everything I did wrong in the evening.
I pat his back. "Go dance then." I gesture to the hurd of dancing bodies on the dance floor.
"Can I have this dance?" He holds his hand out to me with a smile.
"You wish." I smack his hand away while chuckling.
"Holy shit." He whispers staring at something.
"What?" I ask. He's in his world so I follow his eye line to see the Quinn family.
There, the most beautiful person I have ever seen. Nova Quinn, long tanned legs shine under the lights, her raven hair scraped back showing all of her beautiful faces. She is everything any man could ever want. Her hips sway effortlessly as she walks down the steps. Her aqua blue eyes are the most beautiful eyes, I could stare at them all day.
She smiles and greets a couple and holy shit. Her smile is just as stunning as her. She truly is an eye-catcher.
"Dude...snap out of it." Liam waves a hand in front of my face.
"What?" I ask him now irritated.
"You got a little." He points his finger to his lip.
"Oh yeah?" I slap his finger away.
"Yeah, you know just something right there." He backs away as I come closer, a huge smile on his face.
I start to play wrestle with him, taking him in a headlock. Scuffing his hair as he wiggles around trying to get out of my hold. "What were you saying?" I bend down to see his face.
"You boys better be behaving." We both come part and stand sensibly to the sound of my father.
"Yes sir," I say, my smile was now gone.
"Good. Now behave we know our image, show it." He says sternly before my mum comes over with a sweet smile.

"You boys look great!" She looks between me and Liam.
"I was just saying the same." My father looks at me with a glare then at my mum with a small smile.
"Well go on then, have fun tonight." She shoes us away as she smiles and talks with my father.
"I will always be terrified of your dad." Liam chuckles.
"Yeah." I laugh back even though it's not funny. Because I am, I'm absolutely terrified of my father.
"Look, now your chance. Go talk to her." Liam nudges my shoulder.
I look over to see Nova standing by herself with a glass of champagne in her hand as she looks at the crowd.
"I don't know." I hesitate.
"Dude, go." Liam pushes me closer to her.
I walk over to her, standing next to her she doesn't seem to notice my presence yet.
"You look bored." I make myself known.
She turns to me and if I thought she was beautiful from afar, close up is a whole other story. Just as I thought I would, I'm trapped staring at her beautiful eyes. The bright blue shines and twinkles in the light. Her cute button nose has light freckles scattered around and on her cheeks. Her pink, plump lips draw me in. To kiss those lips is like the perfect dream that you never want to wake up from. She. Is. Stunning.
"Hungry actually." Her voice is delicate but strong.
I chuckle at her. The small smile that plays on her lips as she watches me makes my heart beat faster. If possible, her eyes especially become much more stunning.
"Dinner will begin soon." Coming here so many times I know when dinner starts.
"Good. I can't last long on just bubbly." She smirks at me before walking off.
I can't help but watch her behind as she strides away, switching her empty glass for a now full one as a waiter passes by. Shaking my head at the girl I've become fond of in just a short amount of time.
"Scared her off already?" Liam comes up handing me a drink.

"No. I don't think so." My eyes don't stray from the walking angle as she moves around the room.
"Okay, now you're being a stalker." He lays a hand on my shoulder.
"Shut up." I shove him as he chuckles.
"Ladies and gentlemen, dinner is beginning please take your seats." A man announces into a microphone.
"I hope I'm not sitting next to some mistress again. That was awful." Liam groans.
I laugh at the memory. "Really, I thought you loved her company?" He sends me a look.
"Dude. She groped me!" He whispers shouts as we come closer to the table.
"Wish you luck," I say before we part ways.
The tables are separated by power. If you are on the head table, you are the most powerful person in the room. Then you have the second table. This table is for the children or close friends of those who sit at the head table. The next table is those who are like seconds in commands and partners of them. The next is also their children and close friends. The final table is regular people, those who are in the mafia but don't have any place or title to them.
There are many, many tables and lots of people. I walk up to the second table. Being the heir of the mafia boss I can't sit at the top as my father still has a full charge. However, I have more power than those In the second command.
I walk around the table looking for my name tag on where I will sit. Once I have found my name, I take my seat placing my now empty glass on the table.
"Look who it is." I turn to the same voice I've come to love.
"Hey, grey. Can I call you grey? I'm going to call you grey." Nova takes her seat next to me.
I chuckle at her obvious rambling as she slides into the seat next to me. "You always ramble like this?" I ask.
"Well...I guess so." She looks at me with a smile.
She tries to act confident and smart, but I know she's nervous. With the small movements, she makes whether it's fiddling with her fingers, the continuing of checking her hair or simply the bounce of her leg.
My eyes roam down her bare thigh which she has crossed her leg over the other. A small black gun shows, sitting in a gun holster. It's no surprise, everyone has one in here. I'm sure of it. I myself have one tucked in my waist in the back of my trousers.
Taking my eyes away from her leg, I look at the rest of the people at the table. I know everyone on the table. These people may be of the same rank as me, however, I have always had more superior to them. No matter how close they think they are to me.
For example, Elizabeth Ashford. The short-haired blond with brown eyes thinks a one night stand is equivalent to being my girlfriend. She is just one of my many mistakes.
"So grey, is the food as good as everyone says it is?" I turn my head to Nova who leans in as if we're talking about a secret.
I follow her path, leaning in also. Our faces are inches apart, our bodies close to each other.
"That depends," I whisper.
She raises an eyebrow, curious. "What may that be?" She whispers back.
A smirk forms on my face. "If I can have you for dessert?" I whisper as close as I can get to her.
She takes a breath in, biting her lip. Her eyes roam my face before they come back to my eyes. "As long as I can have you." She whispers back with a grin.
We continue to look at each other, both with grins on our faces.
"This is a dinner table, just so you know!"
Nova pulls away as do I, much to my dissatisfaction. I look to the source of our interruption. To see a smirking Elizabeth.
What did I say? Fucking Elizabeth.
