《The Bride of Gojo Satoru》Chapter 40

My hand stroked Ena's silky obsidian hair as she laid on my lap, watching a tv show together. She was finally 18 weeks pregnant. She has 4 more months to go before she gives birth to our triplets.
Everyday gets harder on everyone, especially Ena. Not only she's carrying life, she's bearing death over her head due to the higher ups. I know behind her amber eyes she's suffering. I'm trying my best to shoulder her pain because that's my job as her husband. I also know it hurts for her to hear that she has to suppress her turmoil emotions for the sake of our babies. I will do anything to change the situation.
Ena murmured, "Waking up in the morning, thinking about so many things. I just wish things would get better. I'm trying to get rid of them, but nothing seems to be the same—"
"BABE!" I called out to Ena, who quickly sat up and looked at me with a confused face.
"What is it?"
Did she not know what she sang? "Don't sing that sad song!" I pulled her into a hug, cradling her face in my arms. "I know it's hard right now, but in the future it will get better! Trust me! I will get rid of your pain!" It broke my heart that she was singing that song. I hate how she has to be in this depressing state
Then she broke out laughing as her shoulders jumped up and down from her cackling manner. Ena's hands were on my chest while tears were visible behind her beautiful eyes. "I know you swear to protect me, Satoru... But you don't need to fret over me singing that song. I just remembered it so I sang it." Ena pushed herself back from me and wiped her eyes, feeling highly amused by my assumption. "That song is funny even though it's not supposed to me."
I can't believe Ena threw me in a loop. "So you aren't sad?" I had to clear the air because she really confused me.
Ena shook her head. "No, like I said it just popped inside my head. However, it does reflect my current situation though... How ironic." She snickered again, leaning her head on my shoulder, still stifling her laughter. "I can't believe you got scared."
"Of course I would be! You're my pride and joy!" I blabbered my undying love for her, showering Ena with love and affection. I wanted her to know that I'm never going to leave her. She's going to stay happy with me! I accepted her family's marriage in her hand because I had no choice, but I grew to love her overtime.
Suddenly, my demeanor changed when I thought about a meeting I arranged today. So many things can go wrong but I doubt it. Nonetheless, what I should worry about now is executing my final plan for tonight. I need to make sure I come back alive. "Honey, if anything ever happens to me—if I'm mentally incapacitated or whatever the reason may be...you're going to be the next head clan of the Gojo."
Ena's face twitched in hurt and discomfort from the idea of me being gone. "...okay, I understand." She took it in like a champ. "Naozumi isn't old enough to take that seat too, so I'll hold the title until he comes of age. But I don't want that to happen anytime soon, Satoru. You have to see me give birth to the babies you put in me!" She threatened with menacing eyes; however, I knew she was holding back her teary emotions from spilling. Ena's trying hard not to crack down and I can't blame her. She has no choice but to be strong for everyone. She doesn't want people to see her so weak because that's what the higher ups and Geto want from her. None of this would've happened if I had brought in Geto's body to the morgue. I would've saved the excruciating pain in her heart and soul.

I'm so sorry, Ena.
Later in the day, I informed Ena that I had a clan meeting but in reality, I'm meeting up with sorcerers I know and trust and my students. I didn't have to worry about my wife's safety if Choso was going to be home with her and Naozumi. My parents were out in another Gojo clan meeting. Even though I was supposed to attend, I chose not to because I trust my parents to handle the meeting.
In a secluded area which I planned, everyone had arrived on time for the meeting to begin. We had all of my students, Ena's girlfriends, my best kohai: Nanami Kento, and my best sensei who tolerated my shit during high school: Yaga Masamichi.
"Cutting to the chase, I need you all to defect against the higher ups and revolt against the injustice system they've implemented for thousands of years. Ena's innocent and she's going to need people to rely on." I earnestly looked at them, hoping they would switch sides. They all know Ena. She would never cause destruction, and for the higher ups to shift the blame on her without evidence was bullshit. "I am fine facing the consequences for not bringing Geto's dead body back, but I won't tolerate them pinning it on Ena. Our sentences are different—she gets death whereas I get suspension? That's insane! Please," I got on my knees to show how much I needed their help. I will do anything. Lowering myself to them and throwing away my pride means nothing if I can't protect the woman I love.
Then Utahime stopped me, placing her hand on my shoulder, "Stop. You shouldn't need to beg on your knees...even though it's a nice change to see you weak than arrogant." I lifted my head to see her towering figure. "Also, you didn't need to justify yourself when we're all thinking the same. Of course Ena's innocent! She has never dabbled herself in the jujutsu world unless she has to! She loves and cares about her family, so she wouldn't turn her back on us!"
Hearing Utahime's words, I felt reassured as I stood up, regaining my confidence and smile. "I know you would because you're weak. My pregnant wife could totally beat you since you're only a semi-grade 1 sorcerer." I teased, laughing my chest off. It felt great to know I had someone on my side now. It uplifted my heavy chest.
"Why you?!" Utahime blew off like usual. She's so sensitive. I thought she'd be used to my antics by now. Compared to Ena, she throws me off her shoulder because she's tired of my bullshit but I don't care! It makes me want to come back to her even stronger. Ena has bewitched me ever since I laid eyes on her.
"Sensei, you already know we'll be by your side!" My students said in unison, melting my heart even more. They were my precious kids who loved Ena and Naozumi. I totally know they would pick Ena over me if they had to choose who they liked better. She's more rational and calm whereas I'm not at times, but she's awkward with them too.
"Satoru," Shoko spoke. "You know I'll stick by you. I've known you and Ena for 10 years. There's no need to explain why Ena's innocent when we all know her very well." She patted my shoulder and smiled. "And besides, how can I not when I was the first person to congratulate you on your marriage back then!"

"I'm with the girls." Mei Mei stepped up, flicking her braided hair back. "This time I won't ask you for money and instead give me her valuable time."
I froze up. I don't know if I want to give up Ena's precious time to Mei Mei. I'd rather give Mei Mei her money. I don't care how much it cost me because Ena's my wife not Mei Mei's; however, if she's choosing to refuse money then that's something big too. "If that's what you prefer...then I guess so..." I said in a hesitant and strained voice. I pray to god that Mei Mei doesn't make her do activities which were meant for single people.
Shoko shockingly replied, "Wow that's the first. You always want money."
Mei Mei chuckled as she blew her painted nails, sharpening her eyes on me and Shoko. "It is but Ena's very cute so I couldn't possibly take money over her. I still want her to experience the single life since she has been with him for 10 years, and I'll be the one to show her fun and adventure. Satoru over here is very possessive over Ena. It makes it harder for us girls to reach her without him interfering in spite of jealousy."
I felt my blood semi-boiled from Mei Mei's statement as she attacked my life. I know she means no harm, but I can't let her steal my wife to do those things. Sukuna and Geto weren't my biggest threats anymore, it was Mei Mei.
"Hu hu~ Is Satoru getting vexed by the thought of me taking your wife?" Mei Mei teased, giggling away like a schoolgirl. She knew she popped a blood vessel in me.
After getting a group confirmation that they're all in, we began discussing what will happen.
"First off, my parents have asked other clans if they would part take in this matter, but all of them rejected it because they don't want any part of this. It's hilarious since the Kita Clan has been aiding other clans for centuries. Just because her family is dead doesn't mean she isn't a Kita herself."
Then Maki chimed in. "You know the Zenin wouldn't want anything to do with this. The Zenin and Gojo don't even like each other. It's impossible for me to believe that they will because Ena-sensei is the last blood. As you know once females are married off to another family, they're no longer their old family's last name. They're just their husband's accessories. Naobito won't care because she's a Gojo, not a Kita."
I scoffed, turning my head to the side. "That may be true, but didn't you know that he tried to send Naoya, his own son, to be Ena's betrothal candidate?"
There was an indescribable look on Maki's face, and it told me that she didn't know about it till now.
"Crazy right? The audacity to turn his back on Ena when he wanted his son to marry her." I'm glad I was the one to marry her. Naoya and his family dynamic would've mentally killed her. She already faced harsh treatment at home, and she doesn't need to receive it from her husband's family either. If she married Geto, she would be placed in a similar situation she's in right now since I doubt she would be able to stop him from his ideology. So I am her best option because I'm carefree and fun and certified husband material: cook, clean, sew, and everything else.
Later Yuta brought in his side of the story where the higher ups asked him to kill Ena as he questioned their judgement. "They lacked the proper evidence to convict Ena, but they knew that anyone would obey them because their word is law. Who would ever question their power and authority? No one."
Nanami, who has been quiet for a while, spoke up. "Gojo, I need to apologize for what happened to Ena."
He probably felt guilty for almost ending Ena's life on the day she stormed out of the house. I don't blame him. I would be too if I were in his position. However, Nanami has good judgement so he wouldn't have easily been convinced to follow the higher ups' orders aimlessly. There are flaws in the higher ups' ordain that most can see but won't ask because the higher ups can manipulate the situation and make the person look like a perpetrator.
"Don't worry about it. I know you didn't mean any harm but was only following orders because you have to. Ena did say she's glad it was you she encountered that day. She knew she would've been dead if it were someone else."
"Wait," Kugisaki entered in the conversation. "What did they tell you guys?" She looked at the older sorcerers who were told about this top case whereas they weren't. She wanted to hear if there was a drastic or subtle difference.
"We were told Ena has connections between both Geto Suguru and Sukuna." Yaga added in. "They solely believe that they're using the two most wanted enemies to destroy humanity. However in this case, they never showed us physical evidence of it and told us that once they gathered it, there will be another meeting held."
"Me and Ena can tell there's more to it than that lame excuse." Then I told them about Ena's past life as Sukuna's lover since that information has been kept for a long time until it reached the ears of the higher ups. Also, I didn't forget to mention about Sukuna defecting due to Nozomi's soul being born in my family. "If they knew Ena was Sukuna's past lover, don't you think they would've convicted her earlier? Or try to kill her when she was born? It's odd how these two phenomena are overlapping, and Ena has to be the scapegoat because she has ties to Sukuna and Geto."
"Something bigger is bound to happen, I know it." Mei Mei calmly spoke, envisioning how muddled this world was going to be.
"Oh yeah," I had another piece of evidence to drop on the table. They will be shocked because who wouldn't? "They sent an assassin to kill Ena after the encounter at school."
Everyone gasped, looking starstruck since the higher ups were always in the shadow to set out law and order. They wouldn't believe they'd send an assassin to kill the strongest sorcerer who keeps this world at peace. That means they're desperate to wipe her off.
Yaga groaned, rubbing his temples as he saw how complicated it was getting for me and Ena. "To think they would take extreme measures to get Ena off this world... They dug themselves in a deeper mess which will definitely backfire."
Additionally, I informed them about the identity of Geto by giving them the intel from Choso. They had a hard time believing it, but I don't blame them. Me and Ena still don't know. The identity of 'Geto' was still a mystery in the air.
Later the conversation was coming to an end as nighttime began falling. During the conversation, Ena kept texting me when I'll be back home. I know she's lonely at home and she missed me too. It ached my soul. Additionally, it's going to break her heart if I don't return home tonight or tomorrow morning. I really had no choice but to take this into my own hands.
Clasping my hands together, I gazed at all of them through my blindfold. "To sum it up, I need you all to gather more sorcerers to join our side! Our reasons are: no evidence of betrayal, attempt of assassination, killing the head clan's future children, waging war with the head clan due to the lack of evidence. They all basically tie in with one another." Then I made the next topic very heavy for my fellow colleagues. "I already informed my clan and parents about this but not Ena, so I'm now telling you... Tonight, I'm going to face off 'Geto' and finish him for good...!" I clenched my fists. This was my only way in protecting Ena from our enemies. If I take down one, then I'll be able to focus my attention on my last enemy. It's too good to be true that Geto is miraculously alive because I killed him... I saw him die in front of my eyes.
Slam!
Utahime loudly slammed her hands on the table, snapping me out of my deep thoughts. "Are you crazy, Gojo?!" She yelled. "You're going by yourself when Ena is probably a few months pregnant?! What about having back ups?! What about doing this another time when we have sorcerers who want to support you guys?! You're going to cause Ena more stress on her shoulders! She needs you during this tense period! If you're gone, her life is ruined! You're the only one who keeps her sane!" She lectured me the truth that I've been knowing for a long time. She doesn't have to rub it in like salt to an open wound.
"Utahime is right, Satoru." Yaga said. "We don't know the true identity of 'Geto'. It's dangerous for you to go alone."
"Awww! I know you guys will miss me too! Just admit it!" I playfully joked to lighten up the gloomy air while others glared at me, seeing it as wrong timing to joke. "Other than you guys missing me," I turned back to my serious side. "I will be fine because I am the strongest sorcerer! And even if I do fail, which won't happen of course! I want you guys to stick by Ena's side and support her when I'm not able to."
Everyone's expression turned sour. The thought of Ena crying to herself broke their hearts like it did to mine. It's not an easy decision for me to do. I thought about this many times and had no choice but to pursue it.
"I have faith in you all too,"
Finally the meeting ended and me, Yuta, and Yuji came back home at 10pm. The lights were off in the house, signaling everyone went to bed. An unsettling feeling took over my heart. I felt very sad and hurt to leave Ena in a dire way. However, if it does turn out that I messed up, I will come back before she gives birth and I swear on that too.
Yuta went to sleep first whereas I took Yuji over to a corner.
Putting a hand on his shoulder as I firmly gripped him, I exhaled heavily. "Whatever happens to me, protect Ena no matter the cost, Yuji and Sukuna. She's my world and Naozumi's future. I don't want her to go through this by herself. Be her shoulder to cry on when I cannot hold her." I bit my lips, holding in my true tears and feelings over this situation. I know I don't have to face off 'Geto' but who knows what he's going to do if I don't.
"Yessir! I'll protect the two with my life!"
After that, I went to Naozumi's room. Quietly sliding the door open, I poked my head through to see my son sound asleep. My mind began to wander in my sad thoughts as tears swelled. I had to tell my goodbye to him because I can't imagine the guilt he'll bear for not seeing me if I don't make it back.
Gently waking up Naozumi from his sleep, my little boy groaned tiredly, being half awake from my soft shaking and calling. "Naozumi, this is your daddy."
"I miss you so much today..." He gave me a hug which ripped my heart into pieces. My son doesn't even know what's coming and the possibility of not coming back home.
Clenching my teeth, tears slipped from my blue eyes. "Baby..." I cooed in a broken voice, trying my best to muffle my ugly cries. "I want you to be strong...!"
"Why?"
I hugged him tight in my trembling arms. "Because daddy is going to end mommy's pain so she can be happy. You and I know that people are out for her. Be strong and protect mommy okay?"
"Okay,"
My little boy doesn't even know what he's saying but saying it anyways because he's tired. I won't know if he'll recall this talk or not, but I really hope it doesn't hurt him. I want him to remember this conversation as something to build off from—becoming a stronger person who has someone worth protecting for. I want this to motivate him, telling him that his daddy didn't leave to hurt his family but to keep them away from death's door.
"I...love you!" I choked in my sob, cracking down on him.
"I love you too daddy..."
"I will come back alive like I promised you before!" I laid him back down and kissed his forehead, making sure he went back to bed.
Next, I went to the very room which made it so hard to breathe. I leaned my head against the door, feeling anxious to head inside. It's going to tear me apart and leave me with many scars to remember. The woman I love, the woman who's my lawful and spiritual wife, the woman who's my heaven, earth, and hell was sleeping behind that door, waiting for me to come back home. I bet she's waiting to wake up to a warm bed and smile by the fact her husband is back home. I bet she's going to tell her husband about the dreams of their triplets. I bet she's going to tell her husband how excited she is to be a mother again. However, if her husband isn't there the next morning, she's going to rip her heart out and sell it to the devil so she can have her husband back. I'm going to break her so badly that she might fall into a deeper depression, and I'll have to apologize for it in advance.
Gathering my courage, I entered the bedroom. The smell of Ena's floral scent lingered, filling my mind with memories ranging from our good and bad times. My heart squeezed from this pivotal moment as it thumped loudly in my ears.

So, I will go over these chapters a lot, if I find errors (or you find them). I will mark revised chapters and what I changed in them ( if it is of importance to the story). I'm sorry for anything i might unleash onto the world. -There will be a little of everything in this. But I will never do harem stuff. Or horror just for the sake of it being horrific. No needless bad popes, bandits that rape villagers. Just for a hero to save the day. No stupid tropes. No OP Powers that can call forth doom to anyone. I won't overdo it and if i do anything GameLit, it will have a reason and explanation. Do excuse the table formatting. I'm not great with word processor programs. -I'm crazy.
