⭐ Leona's POV ⭐

I knocked on his bedroom's door before entering inside after I had changed into my night dress.

He was there, sitting on the bed with his back against the headboard, in a pair of boxers and a t shirt, scrolling through his phone.

On hearing me enter, he lifted his head and slightly smirked. "Here to eat me?"

Seriously?

My face instantly grimaced. "Eww...get your head out of the gutter, idiot."

That made him chuckle softly and turn his attention back to his phone thankfully.

Rolling my eyes, I went to my side of the bed and laid down, pulling the duvet over me, with my back towards him.

I closed my eyes waiting for sleep to take over me but that couldn't happen as a minute or two later, I heard Rafe speak in a low voice and tap my shoulder. "Hey, kid?"

"What?" I groaned with my eyes still closed.

"My head's aching..." He replied.

"So, what do you want me do? Blow your brains out? Because I would love to do that."

"No. But you can massage my forehead."

"I would never do that. Go to sleep." And I pulled the duvet upto my face.

I heard him sigh deeply and then he pulled the duvet off my face and when I half opened my eyes, his face was hovering above mine with a sad pout on his lips. "Please?"

I groaned and smacked his shoulder. "Let me sleep, idiot."

And then I heard him sniffling. "My head is paining...and no one is here to massage it..." He whined in a puerile way. "Mom...dad...I don't want to live with her anymore..."

My goodness! Is he serious right now?

My eyes snapped open and I sat up straight, turning to glare at him. "Are you fucking crazy?"

He had a sad pout on his lips and he was sniffling and I don't know how he managed to form tears in his eyes.

On seeing me awake, he gave me a toothy grin. "Are you going to massage my head now?"

I gave him a blank look. "No."

And within a second, he was back to sniffling and pouting.

I picked up his pillow and smacked it on his face. "Go to sleep, idiot. Then your headache will be gone too."

"It won't." He whined again.

"If you keep crying like that then I will also have a headache. Please go to sleep." And with that, I laid down again with my back towards him and tried to sleep before he troubles me again which he thankfully didn't.

I could hear some shuffling, the opening and closing of drawers and it was seriously disturbing my sleep.

I opened my eyes and somehow managed to make out Rafe's figure beside me in the dark, as he was searching for something in the drawer beside him by turning on the flashlight of his phone.

"What are you looking for?" I asked in a hoarse tone.

That must have startled him because his head snapped towards me and he let out a deep breath. "Sorry, just go back to sleep." He grumbled.

"Got it." He then mumbled to himself and saw him holding a small bottle in between his fingers.

"What's that?"

"Lavender essential oil." He answered as he closed the drawer and turned off the flashlight.

"Is you head still aching?" I asked softly.

He hummed in response and said nothing else and I felt bad for him. I slowly got up, sitting up straight and he looked at me in confusion.

"Lay down." I told him.

"What?"

"I said lay down so that I can massage your head, idiot."

He was shocked, baffled as he stared at me with wide eyes as if I have gone crazy.

I fought the urge to roll my eyes and sat cross legged with my back against the headboard and gestured him to come closer.

He was hesitant but he came closer and laid down on his back and gently grabbing his head, I rested it on my crossed legs.

And I took the bottle of lavender oil, applied it on his forehead and he closed his eyes. And then I started to gently massage his forehead, applying pressure with my thumb and he visibily relaxed.

"Any particular reason why your head is aching?"

"Migraine. The worst thing ever." He answered as I continued to massage.

"Don't you take some... medicine for it?"

"Nah. I don't want to take medicine for such things..."

I hummed and didn't argue with him because I was feeling sleepy but anyway I continued to massage his forehead and slowly moved my fingers down to the top of his eyes and very lightly, ran my thumb over it.

My eyes roamed his face and for a second, they stopped at his lips. Thankfully his eyes were closed so he couldn't see me staring at his lips.

This is wrong.

I shook my head to stop myself from staring and focused back on massaging.

I don't know what he was thinking because a smile formed on his lips and it was only then I noticed the dimples that formed on both his cheeks.

He has dimples!

There's nothing to be excited about that.

Well...anyway...

When the smile didn't fade away, I finally said, "What are you smiling for, idiot?"

His eyes snapped open. "Huh?"

"Why are you smiling?"

"Um...I... nothing..."

"You really are an idiot." I remarked and he said nothing and just closed his eyes.

I kept massaging his forehead for another few minutes and it was then that my hand also started to pain a little, so, I stopped.

I was going to tell him that I was going back to sleep now but I realised that he already fell asleep.

Slowly and carefully, lifted his head a little and removed my legs from under him and gently placed his head on the pillow and pulled the duvet over him.

Since now he was sleeping on my side, I went over and slept on his side instead.

"Dad and mom have invited us to dinner tonight. So, don't be late." Rafe spoke, barging into my office the next afternoon.

I folded my arms across my chest and scowled at him and didn't reply to him which made him frown. "What? Why are you angry?"

I scoffed in response and didn't say anything again.

That made him baffled as he took a few steps towards me. "Are you serious? What did I do now? If you don't say anything how will I know what's wrong?"

I finally decided to reply to him. "I sacrificed my precious sleep just to massage your head but in return, I don't even get a thank you!"

Realisation finally dawned upon him. "Oh! You need a thank you?"

I rolled my eyes and he walked closer to me, staring intensely at me as I watched him carefully. With every step he took closer to me with such an intense gaze, it made my heart beat a little faster.

I pushed back my chair to get up but he was quick to come closer and place both his hands on the armrests of the chair, trapping me in between him and the chair all the while he gazed into my eyes.

My throat became dry and my breath hitched as he leaned closer and the tip of his nose brushed against mine.

I was confused, what is he trying to do? Maybe I was too busy worrying about how close we were that I didn't realise that he had lifted my palm until he placed a lingering kiss on my knuckles all the while maintaining the eye contact with me.

"Thank you, my dear wife for massaging my head." He whispered with a slight huskiness in his tone and he pulled back with a smirk on his face, and he winked at me before leaving my office in a flash and I sat there confused.

What just happened?

For the rest of the day, I ignored that idiot because I felt weird after what happened earlier because for a second I did think he was going to kiss me...on the lips.

I shook my head to clear away those thoughts immediately. What am I even thinking?

He is messing up with my mind and I can't let him do that.

"I have been waiting for the past half an hour for you, I don't know how long does it takes you to get ready!" I heard Rafe grumble outside my room.

"I'm not done yet!" I shouted back. "Who told you to get ready so soon? You should have also taken some more time."

"Taken time for what? To paint my nails? Or wax my legs, huh? All I had to do was put on a shirt and a pair of jeans." He retorted making me roll my eyes.

My messy bun was finally done and all I had to do was to put on my earings but it seems like he doesn't have any patience as he barged inside. "Enough! I won't wait any longer."

"Just give me two minutes." I muttered dryly.

But he didn't listen and bending down, grabbed my legs and threw me over his shoulder making me shriek.

"What the fuck! Put me down, idiot! I still have to wear my earings."

"If you don't wear them then the world won't end." He grumbled and carried me out of the room and down the stairs.

I punched his back. "Put me down atleast! I can walk."

He never listens to me as he carried me all the way down to his car and opening the door, put me inside and even strapped my seatbelt as if I would run away.

And for the rest of the ride, I sat there with a scowl on my face.
