《A Sky Full Of Stars (#5)》Chapter 7 | Harris

A week passed by quickly and every night I used to sleep in Rafe's room and he never said anything about it, he never taunted me about it.

But I failed to delete that video from his phone and he has been blackmailing me with it ever since, making me do things I don't want to. Like making me attend every other meeting with him, I mean he doesn't need me in every meeting.

"I want you to learn, you are also the CEO now." Was what he said as he forced me to go to another meeting.

Yes, I wanted to work as the CEO ever since I was a child but now I realise how hectic it can be. It's exhausting and stressful. I am enjoying being a boss but at the same time, I am hating it.

Father and mother called me on every alternative day to check on me, whether I was okay or not, whether I had lunch and dinner.

And Rafe had the audacity to complain to father about how lazy I am on which father scolded me, well in his own polite way.

"Daughter, I know you hate him but you need to listen to him. He's more experience and he is going to teach you how to handle the company and stuff." Father told me the yesterday over video call making me roll my eyes.

"And you know what, he even poured a bucket of cold water over me to wake me up and he even recorded that and now he is not deleting it!" I complained.

Father chuckled at that but when I scowled at him, he became serious. "Okay, I will tell him to delete that video, happy?"

I nodded. "Yes. Thank you."

And thankfully, Rafe deleted that video but not before he mocked me saying that I am kid for complaining things to my father.

"Stop daydreaming about me and focus on the meeting." He whispered, gently nudging my shoulder. And I glared at him.

"I would die before I would ever daydream about you.", I spoke in a low voice.

"Yeah, sure." He rolled his eyes sarcastically. "I know you have wet dreams about me every night."

That made me choke on air as I started coughing hysterically gaining the attention of everybody in the room.

Rafe was silently snickering to himself and he passed me a glass of water and gestured to others to continue the meeting. I took a sip of the water, glaring at Rafe from the corner of my eyes.

Taking a deep breath to calm myself down I placed down the glass. "Are you fucking serious? Why would I have..." I cleared my throat. "...wet dreams about you?! I don't know how you fit that ego of yours inside your small brain. You are an idiot and--"

He placed his index finger on my lips, his eyes focused ahead instead of me. "Shh...focus on the meeting, kid. You have a lot to learn." Grabbing his finger, I shoved it back to him harshly.

Fucking asshole.

I finally focused on the meeting which was very boring. My eyes fell on the man sitting opposite to me, on the end of the long table.

He looked to be in his mid twenties, dressed in a black suit and had attractive features. His dirty blonde hair gelled back and his clear blue eyes focused on me. He smiled at me softly and I smiled back at him.

He was cute.

I then averted my eyes from him but even then I could feel him looking at me. My eyes once again met his and he again smiled at me. Not wanting to look rude or something, I smiled back and again looked away.

Okay, that's enough. I thought when I found him still staring at me. This is getting creepy now.

If he keeps staring at me then he is so dead. I'm gonna pluck his eyes out and feed them to the sharks.

And--

"Mr Black." Rafe's voice boomed making everyone silent. His eyes fixed on that man. "It would be much better if you focus on the meeting rather than on my wife." Rafe's jaw was clenched, his eyes glaring at him.

Mr Black, gulped and shifted uncomfortably in his seat and mumbling a sorry, lowered his eyes.

Better for him or he would have to face my wrath.

I glanced at Rafe who's jaw was still clenched and his palm were folded into fists and he was still glaring at him.

"Now who's not focusing on the meeting." I whispered diverting his attention.

His head snapped to me and his features softened immediately and sighing, he concentrated back on the meeting.

I was walking back to my office after the meeting with Rafe beside me, scrolling through his phone.

As I neared my office, I saw Harris leaning against my office door, with his hands in his pockets and he smiled on seeing me.

I smiled back at him and running towards him, engulfed him in a hug. "Harris!" He's the only reason I am okay with staying here in Australia.

My bestfriend.

He hugged me back, patting me on my back. "How are you, Leona?"

I pulled back. "Unfortunately, I have to tolerate living with this idiot but I am somehow surviving", I said giving a glance at Rafe who was standing behind me. He had put away his phone and was now looking at us curiously.

Harris followed my gaze and gave a small wave to him. "Hey, brother."

Rafe rolled his eyes and coming forward, side hugged Harris and turned around to leave when Harris said to me, "Since it's lunch time already, how about we go out to eat something?"

My eyes lit up with excitement. "That's great!"

That made Rafe halt and he turned towards us with a frown. "What? Where are you both going?"

"For lunch." Harris answered.

"Just you two?"

Harris nodded and a scowl formed on Rafe's face as he looked between us curiously.

Rafe cleared his throat. "I am coming too."

"No!", I said immediately. "You are not invited. We are going alone, can't you see?"

He folded his arms and cocked his head slightly, glaring at me. "I'm coming along whether you like it or not."

"Rafe, hey listen. It's been a long time since we went out together. Let us go today and you can join us some other time." Harris interrupted.

Rafe's eyes snapped to him and his jaw clenched.

"C'mon, let's go." Harris grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the direction of the elevator leaving Rafe behind before he could say anything else.

I looked over my shoulder to Rafe who had mixed emotions on his face. Confused. Angry. Disappointed. And his eyes glaring at where Harris and mine hand was intertwined.

Finally, his eyes snapped up to me and I stuck out my tongue at him. He looked confused for a moment but then one side of his lips twisted up into a smirk.

"What's wrong with your husband?" Harris questioned as he sat opposite to me, in a corner booth.

I glared at him. "He's not my husband."

He looked amused by my statement. "He is, no matter what you say."

"So, now you are taking your cousin's side more than your best friend."

He lifted up his hands in surrender. "No... it's just...I am correcting you. He is your husband. But it seems you don't consider him that."

I rolled my eyes. "Of course, I don't consider him my husband. He's an idiot whom I have to tolerate for the next six months."

Harris hummed and took a sip of water from the glass the waiter placed on the table. I tapped my fingers on the table, waiting for the food to arrive.

All of sudden, he paused drinking water, his eyes widening slightly and fixed on something behind me.

Confused, I looked behind me at what he was seeing and my jaw clenched on seeing Rafe, Addison and Raven. All of them walking towards our direction.

"What the fuck?!" I exclaimed.

Within seconds, they were all right at our table and Raven and Addison waved at us, smiling widely while Rafe had a smirk plastered on his idiotic face.

I gritted my teeth as he sat right beside me, leaning back in his chair and Raven sat beside Harris and Addison grabbed an extra chair and sat next to Rafe.

"Rafe said you are giving a treat!", Addison said excitedly to Harris whose mouth fell open.

"What the fuck are you doing here?" I whispered shouted to Rafe who turned to me with a smile on his face.

"Harris is giving a treat, isn't he?" He spoke loud and clear for everyone to hear.

"I'm not giving any treat!" Harris shouted.

Rafe pouted sadly. "Oh, you are not? I thought you were. That's why invited them too."

Harris glared at him while Raven and Addison looked confused, glancing between them.

Rafe grinned mischeiviously at him.

"Whatever the matter is between you both, let go of it now." Raven spoke, patting Harris on his shoulder. "And since we all are here already, let's order."

Giving one last glare to Rafe, Harris looked away and everyone started to order.

Rafe nudged my arm. "What do you want to eat?"

"Nothing." I muttered dryly.

He lightly kicked my leg under the table. "Come on, aren't you hungry, kid?"

I kicked his leg in return and gave him a tight smile. "No. I am not hungry, idiot."

His eyes narrowed and he said in a low voice, "Stop calling me that."

I rolled my eyes and looked away and I heard him order something for me on my behalf.

I don't know what problem he has with me hanging out with Harris? As far as I know, he is quite close with both his cousins.

I tried to ignore him and I initiated a conversation with Harris. Suddenly, I again felt him kicking my leg from under the table and my head snapped to him but he was not looking at me, he was talking with Raven and Addison.

Maybe he did it by mistake...

But I was wrong as he did it again.

My jaw clenched and I turned to glare at him. "What do you want?"

He slowly turned towards me with a small smile playing on his lips. "Yes?"

My lips pressed into a thin line as I glared at him. "Nothing." And rolling my eyes, I looked away.

I continued talking with Harris and not ten seconds later, he again kicked my leg and this time, I kicked his leg too. And he kicked mine and I kicked his back.

And this continued until I stepped on his foot very painfully making him groan loudly and everyone looked at him weirdly. Glaring at me, he bent down to rub his foot and I smirked at him.

"Are you okay, Rafe?" Addison placed her palm over his shoulder and looked at him in concern.

"Oh, he's alright." I answered on his behalf.

"That's enough!" Rafe stood up. "We are leaving." He grabbed my arm and dragged me up to my feet.

And quickly took out his wallet and placed an amount of money infront of Harris. "The bill is on me."

"Didn't you say that I was giving a treat?" Harris questioned.

"I did say that but I feel bad for wasting someone's money who earns just by painting."

And before Harris could reply, he dragged me away from there.
