Lorelei's POV:
Hope and I are walking through the Quarter around noon. I don't like being out during the day if I can avoid it but I'd like to spend some one on one time with her.
"Maybe we should frame it. You can hang it up wherever you want." I say
Hope had painted a beautiful piece of art. A meadow with blue skies with a butterfly perched on an a flower surrounded by grass.
Hope smiles.
"That sounds awesome! Maybe we can paint together later. We'd need to get you some paint brushes." Hope says as she moves out of the way for a man walking past
"I'll just borrow your Dad's. He's got really good ones." I say
We stop and check out a stand filled with jewelry. Hope's eyes catch sight of a golden sunflower necklace.
"Can I get this please?" She asks
"Sure honey." I say with a smile
I move my purse off my shoulder and grab my wallet. I'm skimming through my cash and ask how much but don't get a response.
I look up and she's gone.
"Hope?" I ask as I look around
I skim through passersby and the stands but I don't spot her.
She's gone.
Hayley's POV:
I walk into the compound off the street and take my jacket off. Lorelei and Klaus are arguing in the foyer. Klaus moves to walk away and Lorelei is right on his heels. I watch as he whips around and takes a step towards her. She backs up.
"Nik I can find her!" Lorelei insists
"You are the one who was supposed to watch her!" He snaps
"What's going on?" I ask walking over
"Someone took Hope." Klaus says
"What?" I demand

I can feel my heart start to race and a feeling of dread fills every bit of me.
My baby.
"We were in the Quarter and she wanted a necklace she had seen-" Lorelei begins to explain
"And a witch took her. One of Evelyn's henchmen." Klaus interrupts
"Nik I looked away for one minute!"
"They could've been in and out of there in the blink of an eye. You couldn't have known." Freya says walking quickly into the room
"Could you locate them?" Klaus asks
Tracking a witch can be a long shot but it never hurts to try.
Freya shakes her head.
"You're going to have to track them down the hard way. I'm going to stay here and work on breaking their cloaking spells." She says
Klaus turns to leave and Lorelei moves to follow.
"Nik this is my fault. Let me help!" She says
Klaus turns around and glares at her. He points to a chair.
"You will sit down and be silent. Hayley and I will track them down and you are going to stay here and stay put. Do I make myself clear?" He says
She opens her mouth to speak but doesn't.
"Klaus I'm going to need you here. I need your blood and if things get worse I'll need to channel someone who shares Hope's blood." Freya interjects
"I'm going out there to find my daughter!" Klaus argues
"Hayley and Lorelei can go. I need you here and we may need to come up with a backup plan in case this doesn't work." Freya says
Klaus turns his attention back to Lorelei and me.
"You will find whoever took her and you will make them pay."

Death By Protagonist
Donavan has made his living by wading through hundreds of stories in search of the quality few he and his firm believe to be worth publishing. After a strange twist of fate, he gets trapped inside the fantasy book of a particularly campy and amateur author. There he will have to navigate a world built on wish fulfillment, power fantasies, and fanservice in order to fix the story from the inside out if he ever wishes to leave. But can he bring himself to play the many roles necessary to manipulate and guide the characters to a satisfying conclusion? Authors Note: Death By Protagonist is meant to be simultaneously a satire of, and love letter to the isekai/portal fantasy genre. It both makes fun of and embraces many tropes of the genre such as harems, explicit sexual content, OP protagonists, and other things many people might think of as "trashy." If that doesn't sound like your thing, you've been warned, but I hope you'll give it a shot anyway. Update Schedule: Plan is to at least put out one new chapter every week, hopefully two.

There is a place in the far off reaches of space. It is a lonely place in the barest portion at the edge of the universe. There are no stars or other planets for light-years. A region few have ever wanted to visit and fewer still actually have. If you were to visit you'd find and small rip in space-time leading to the most bizarre and out of place thing you have ever seen. A solar system consisting of five planets, all with life, all stuck in conflict, and all absolutely bursting with energy. For some it seems like a paradise. A land of sword and sorcery? Why would anyone pass that up? That was the thought process of the freshly dead boy. This boy, like many before him and many after him, was trying to find the bright side. Things had finally been going right for him, good grades, new friends, and best of all a girlfriend when the entire world ended. No huff, no puff, just poof the end. At least being reborn into this world would be fun. That definitely sounded like a bright side to most. Fracture, one of the five worlds in question, was massive and full of magic. It looked sounded and felt like it would be just another game, it even had prompts and levels. Piece of cake. Well that might be the case if Fracture was meant to be a paradise. The hottest fires forge the strongest swords. This fire has the habit of melting away oneself. A pixie clan searching for a new home, a boy who just lost his, a reality bending forest, and a bug that doesn't belong. All with an intense desire for power. Who will make it through the fire intact, and will they choose to be a hero, or will they join the long history of villains and monsters?
