《Klaus's Pet》Chapter 41

Hayley's POV:
I get a bouquet of flowers from the vendor. I hand her the $20 and tell her to keep the change. Hope looks from the stand to the flowers and her face falters.
"What's wrong?" I ask her concerned
"The flowers are dying. It's okay. I can fix it." She says excited
I scan around to make sure nobody is watching and I give her the okay. She focuses and I watch as the colors of the flowers become brighter and the once bent and broken stems are restored.
"Wow honey that was awesome!" I say and give her a high five
"You're daughter is quite powerful." A woman says from the left side
"My name is Evelyn a fellow witch." She says
I jump a little. I didn't hear her walk over.
I look from the stranger to my daughter.
Evelyn has her hand out for us to shake but Hope looks uncomfortable and I don't move. I feel a chill go down my spine.
"Thank you. Come on let's go home honey." I say
We walk down the street. I look behind me and the woman is gone.
I pick up Hope and speed back to the compound.
I put Hope to bed and start to doze off when a scream jolts me out of bed.
It's Hope.
I run down to her bedroom as fast as I can. Klaus is already there sitting on the bed with her, holding her in a long hug.
I watch as he wipes tears from her eyes and tells her that everything will be okay.
He plants a kiss on her forehead then walks out of the room and closes the door behind him.
"Did you meet a woman named Evelyn?" He asks concern in his voice
"Yeah. She gave me a weird feeling so I took Hope home."
"She just told me that this woman was in her nightmare."
I think about this for a long moment.
"Do you think something like that is accidental?" I ask
"I haven't dealt with circumstances where a witch did something like that unintentionally. That type of work requires focus. This was a warning. Hope isn't safe."
Freya sets up a strong barrier spell as well as a cloaking spell for Hope. We all take shifts guarding.

The Better Side Of Evil
The last surviving son of House Rotwald is on the run. Chased by his enemies into the heart of a long forgotten wasteland, he is forded to traverse an unholy place of power. With the pursuers hot on his heels, can Victorian find shelter in the realm of the living dead? Or will he become just another walking corpse, doomed to wonder the land for all eternity? Everything that he believed in, everything that he held sacred – gods, kings and their laws – has already betrayed him. With nothing left to lose could the young paladin be persuaded to accept a new master? Could he bargain away his life to a dark power in exchange for vengeance? And what would he be required to do in return? The Kingdom of Leidemar is on the verge of ruin. Rival powers seek to divide it, but there is an opportunity for a new ruler to arise from within its own nobility. And even a lowly nobleman, if positioned correctly, could end up a king. Someone with the right allies, perhaps? Or maybe cruel allies would suffice? But for now the last surviving son of House Rotwald is on the run. *This story is as much about the monsters as it is about the people facing them. Some become allies while others become wet stains on the floor. I firmly believe that villains can make for some of the most endearing characters. Monsters need not be sour and droll. Have a bit of fun - indulge in a bit of villainy. Enjoy the gray morality and colorful cast of this story! *I have a Discord server now: https://discord.gg/4phDRU2 **Artwork by Shane Pierre: https://007access.deviantart.com/ ***I am not a native English speaker, so feel free to help me improve my use of the language!
