Lorelei's POV:

I wake up and the light is blinding beaming through the window. I let out a groan.

Noticing I'm the only one in the bedroom, I take a moment to stretch and exhale.

I sit up and swing my legs over and stand up. I grab a black dress and fishnets and get dressed then place my hand on the doorway.

It goes through.

Freya took down the barrier.

I walk into the kitchen and spot Nik.

"Good morning love. How are you feeling?" He asks

"Better. Exhausted but better." I say

He's making pancakes for Hope.

"Sorry about the whole solitary thing." Freya says

"It's alright. I get why you did it." I reply with a small smile

"I'm starving. I'm going to go grab a bite." I say

I walk out into the street and don't stop walking until I'm a few miles away.

I bump into a man and he hisses showing off pearly white teeth with pointy canines.

Vampire.

"How about an apology bitch?" He hisses

"How about a werewolf bite prick?" I growl eyes glowing

Before he can react I bite him in the neck. We struggle on the ground for a moment then I snap his neck and he goes limp. I stand up and walk off.

Enjoy your last 24 hours on Earth asshole.

I head out into the bayou. I want to have fun and I deserve a break after being held hostage by my paranoid boyfriend.

Hayley's POV:

"Klaus!" I yell from the foyer

He's there in seconds with a worried look on his face.

"What is it?"

"Josh found a vampire out in St Anne's street with a wolf bite. I didn't do this and the pack didn't so it must've been-"

"Lorelei." He finishes with a frustrated sigh

Before I can say another word, he's gone.

Lorelei's POV:

I'm running through the woods as fast as I can. It feels amazing to not be trapped between four walls. I finally feel free.

Maybe I should leave New Orleans for awhile. Go back to Oklahoma and stay in the Quartz mountains again. There's a town there on the edge of the water but if I stay far enough away-

I dodge a tree and slow down as I move downhill into a creek. Just for kicks I go in and feel the water on my paws. Then I dive all the way in to a deeper section and swim for a bit.

After awhile I get bored so I step back onto the ground, shake myself off and trot back into the woods and immediately freeze.

Nik is standing there with a pile of clothes in hand and he's pissed off.

"Turn back and get dressed." He demands

I turn around to dash off and he speeds in front of me, blocking my exit.

I let out a growl.

I back up and wait.

He doesn't move. He doesn't flinch.

Just stands there fuming.

I look over to the left and just as I anticipated, he follows my gaze and then I dash off to the right.

"I'm in no mood to play games Lorelei!" He yells from the East

Who knew his training would come in handy to help me get away from him?

It doesn't last long. Wolves aren't very stealthy.

Klaus's POV:

She lunges and knocks me to the ground. I get back up and let out an annoyed growl.

She advances a few more times but I speed out of the way.

She comes at me again and I throw her into a tree.

Wolves are more vulnerable and I'm careful not to truly wound her.

After a few more tries, she gives in and I watch as she transforms back. She snatches the clothes off the ground and gets dressed then stands there, glaring at me.

I march over to her.

"Are you finished?" I demand

Her eyes glow and she moves to attack again but she won't catch me off guard again. I knock her to the ground and pin her by the throat in the same way as I did on the bed, sitting on top of her.

"Let go of me!" She hisses

"You love, have two choices, you can come with me willingly or you can go against your own will, I'll leave it up to you. I'd advise against trying to attack me a third time. You won't like what happens if you do."

She lets out a long exhale then holds her hands up in surrender.

We go back to the Quarter and she shows me where the vampire is. He's not there.

We spend awhile trying to track him down but eventually catch sight of him staggering towards a bench.

I walk over and pin him down. I force feed him my blood and watch as he heals. Then I snap his neck.

"Why would you attack him?" I demand turning to my girlfriend

"He deserved it." She says with a shrug

"I don't understand. Why are you so angry?"

"I'm not angry Nik." She says

Then it hits me. The way she says it and the look in her eyes as she does makes it all fall into place.

She never really turned her humanity back on.

I walk over towards her.

"You will come back home with me and you will be silent. You will not go anywhere or do anything unless I say otherwise." I say compelling her

She doesn't speak but I know it worked.

We head back to the compound. Hayley and Freya are waiting there along with Hope. Hayley looks uncertain but I tell her that I have it under control and I do.

I bring Lorelei into the bedroom and close the door. I tell her to sit on the bed and I pace around the bedroom trying to decide on my next move.

"Turn your humanity back on." I tell her

She closes her eyes and for a long moment, I'm not sure if it worked but then she opens her eyes and her hand flies to her mouth to stifle a cry.

"Oh shit. Oh shit. I killed four people and I- I attacked you!" She says stumbling over the words

"Lorelei. Love listen-"

She sobs and falls to the ground.

"What have I done? No no no."

I try to comfort her but it's too much for her and she bats me away.

I decide to give her some space and I leave, closing the door behind me. I fill Freya and Hayley in.

After about ten minutes, I walk back into the bedroom.

She's punching the floor over and over again. I rush over and grab her wrists and stop her.

"Lorelei love it's going to be okay. You went through something traumatic and you did what you needed to to cope. I'm not angry at you. It's okay."

She looks at me then looks away.

I hold her in my arms and do my best to soothe her. I listen as her heartbeat returns to normal and she settles down a bit.

"Lorelei I need to compel you." I say

She jerks her head up.

"Why?"

"I need to keep you and everyone else safe and for the time being, I need to make absolutely certain that you are under control. If you let me."

She doesn't respond for a long moment, deep in thought then she nods.

"You will not leave the compound unless I give you permission except if you are in danger. You will sleep tonight and have nothing but pleasant dreams and if you are having a hard time, you will tell me." I say looking into her eyes

I pick her up and place her on the bed. I go downstairs and grab her a blood bag then head back up.

I stay up with her until she falls asleep, snoring peacefully.
