Elena's POV:

I walk into the Mystic Grill and sit down at the bar. A young woman with black hair and dark green eyes sits next to me.

Lorelei.

"Relax I'm not here to kill you." She says

I watch as she compels a drink from the bartender.

"If I wanted to kill you, you'd already be dead in an alley somewhere." She says and takes a sip

My blood runs cold. I can handle my own against a vampire. I've trained with Alaric but a hybrid is something else.

"What are you doing here?" I ask

"Needed somewhere where Nik wouldn't find me." She says with a shrug

She turns to me.

"If you're even thinking about calling him I will plunge that fork over there into your neck." She says quietly

The door opens and a little bell chimes as Stefan walks in.

"Lorelei how nice to see you here." Stefan says

"Stefan. Can't relate."

I move over and he sits down on the stool between me and Lorelei.

"So what are you up to?" Stefan asks

"Not much. Wanted to get out of Louisiana for a bit and wound up here." She says

"Anything new?" He asks

"You tell me." She says turning to face him

She leans closer and he looks deep into her eyes for a few seconds.

"You flipped your switch." He says calmly

"Bingo!" She replies

After a long moment of silence, she speaks again, as if she's reading Stefan's mind.

"Relax Stefan. I'm not here to kill anyone. I already started quite the body count down in New Orleans. I'm just here to have a bit of fun." She says

A chill runs through me.

She talks as if we were discussing the weather not about the people she's murdered.

When I turn my attention back to where she was, she's gone.

Lorelei's POV:

I follow the sound of music and step into a rave.

People jump to the music, make out or take shots all around me.

Perfect.

I catch the eye of a tall woman with ginger hair and dark blue eyes that remind me of the sea.

I give her a smile and she makes her way over.

We dance for awhile. I take my hand in hers and spin her around.

She tells me her name is Annabeth and we chat a little regardless of the blaring music.

We dance for a few hours then step outside.

The air is cooler out here compared to inside where we were surrounded by dozens of people.

She places a cigarette between her lips and lights it.

We sit down on a bench in the town square.

The clock tower says it's 2:45 am.

She paces around and places her hands on my shoulders.

Then she swiftly snaps my neck.

I wake up groggy and confused.

I'm back home, in my bed. What the hell?

Hayley walks in.

"Oh you're awake." She says

"Yeah. Want to explain what the hell happened?"

"Simple. I had a vampire follow you to Mystic Falls and once your guard was down, she snapped your neck and delivered you here." Nik says walking in

"Why the hell would you do that?" I demand

"I knew that I had shown up that you would've taken off."

I let out an annoyed groan.

"Don't forget love. I'm always one step ahead." He says and walks away

I pull the covers over my head and eventually I fall asleep.
