《Klaus's Pet》Chapter 26

Lorelei's POV:
The night started out perfectly and ended in a nightmare.
Emma and I along with the pack had been hanging out for months every time I could take off to see her.
We were all running through the woods in wolf form, running as fast as our legs could carry us steering between trees and launching off rocks guided by the light of the moon that shined through the trees.
Then the shots rang out...
At first we didn't know where they were coming from but we all knew that in wolf form we were vulnerable. The pack scattered and while some took off in other directions a few of us turned back and helped guide the kids to safety.
I didn't know the damage until 30 minutes later after the wolves had taken out the shooters.
Sheltered we all got dressed and after the all clear we reentered the woods where earlier we had been running free and now our friends at least 4 or 5 lay dead, struck by bullets.
A few of us gather as many as we can, making sure to keep the kids away and do a head count.
Ash, Lydia, and Keith were all dead.
That leaves 14 counting the kids.
Wait that's not right.
My blood runs cold.
I start to panic but she's nowhere to be found.
I take off to the deeper part of the woods, away from the camp and let out a scream.
Lying there is a white wolf, fur coated in blood. More red than white.
I feel like I'm drowning but I manage to get to my feet, back to her people.
The people who had expected her to be home.
I walk back over, tears flowing from my eyes but I can't find the words.

If I say it, it makes it true.
If I don't, it's just a bad bad dream.
But I have to say it, even though I feel like my heart is being yanked out of my chest.
"Emma. They killed her." I sob
Everyone takes a long moment to realize what this means.
The Alpha with her bright smile and fighting spirit who led them to freedom and taught them the joy that comes with becoming a wolf, was gone.
The thought of the Cresent pack crosses my mind.
"Do you have funeral rituals?" I ask
If it wasn't for supernatural hearing I doubt I would've been heard.
Ash's girlfriend nods slowly.
"We take a paw print and tattoo them onto ourselves as a reminder. Then we bury them and have a long night run and howl in their honor at the next full moon, but we should do it tonight. For all of our fallen family." Ash's girlfriend says quietly
Using ink and paper, individuals take paw prints from all of the fallen and give each member a kiss on the forehead.
Then we go explain to the kids about those who had passed and let them say goodbye and all the adults get to work burying their loved ones.
I bury Emma.
I crouch down on the spot and tell her how sorry I am.
She didn't deserve this. None of them did.
I watch as Lydia's partner Avery scatters seeds around the patch of dirt where they had just buried their wife.
"Sunflowers. They were her favorite."
After a few hours I take off.
I'm a few miles away and let out a scream so lound that it would shatter eardrums.
This is too much.
Too much.
I close my eyes and do the one thing I've never done, no matter how much pain I'd been in.

I flip the humanity switch.
Klaus's POV:
Lorelei walks into the compound. She's covered in blood and has a blank expression on her face. I rush over to her, trying to see if she's okay but she brushes me off.
"We heard there was an attack. We were shut in here until the sun rose
Are you alright?" I ask
She doesn't answer, just grabs a bottle of burbon and downs a third of the bottle. She wipes her mouth with the back of her hand and takes off to the bedroom. I follow.
The shower is running. I go to enter but it's locked.
"Love talk to me." I plead
After about ten minutes the water shuts off.
She walks out naked and grabs a black long sleeve shirt, panties and black jeans. She quickly gets dressed and braids her hair.
"Loreli what happened? Talk to me." I say
"I don't have anything to say Nik. We took them out."
What's gotten into her?
Then I realize.
She flipped her switch.
Something did happen.
She goes to leave the room and I block her exit.
"I'm leaving to get a bite to eat. Stay here or come with me but get out of my way."
"Was it Emma?" I ask softly
She doesn't speak and I know she doesn't have to.
She already confirmed it.
"Move Nik."
She sighs and places her head on my chest. She puts her hands up to my face and runs her thumbs along my skin.
Then she naps my neck.

8 80incomprehensible thoughts
This is just the weird & random shit it my mind, for when I can remember them and when I have time to put those thoughts & feelings into words, IF I can even do that. Writing is one of the things that I couldn't live without, and it's weird because it's something that bloomed from some things that I now hate. Anygays, enjoy the show.
