《Klaus's Pet》Chapter 19

Klaus's POV:
Elijah and I return to the compound leaving the dead hunters in the woods.
Freya, Hayley and the Cresents are all in the foyer when we arrive.
"Where is Hope?" I ask
I don't want to have this conversation with my daughter around.
" I put her to bed." Freya says
I let out a sigh.
"This isn't going to end anytime soon. Whoever sent the hunters works for a logging company called Florence Extermination Company. They will just send more." I explain
Everyone looks at one another.
"Hayley you should go with Elijah tomorrow to have a conversation with the logging company and give them my deepest condolences on their four dead comrades." I say
Then I head to bed.
Lorelei's POV:
I wake up sore and then remember what had happened that night. I check my body but I'm healed.
I step quietly trying not to wake Nik.
"Where do you think your going?" His voice rings out
Shit.
"Nik I'm fine."
"You got shot last night. You aren't leaving the compound." He says
"Yeah I am."
Suddenly he's up and in front of me.
"You could've died last night. I told you to take Hayley with you! That was reckless and stupid." Nik snaps voice rising
"Yeah I got shot but I am fine." I argue
"I'm in no mood to play games with you Lorelei."
"I'm not playing games Nik!"
I head towards the door and he grabs my arm. I yank my arm out of his grasp and shove him.
He lets out a growl of annoyance.
"Lorelei you're not going anywhere."
"Back off Nik." I hiss
I move towards the door again and he grabs my arm and yanks me back. My eyes glow angrily.

He points a finger at me.
"Don't make me compel you to stay here."
"You wouldn't dare."
"I will if I have to."
We stand in silence for a long moment. I walk towards the door again and he moves in front of me.
"Try it and see what happens." I growl
He steps closer and I smack him in the face. My hand flies to my mouth, shocked. I'm about to apologize when he grabs me by the arms and pins me against the wall.
"Don't you dare do it Nik." I snap
"Don't try to leave and I won't have to." He replies
"You're being ridiculous! You don't even know where I was going." I argue
"You were going after the people who attacked you but if you had waited a second I would've told you that Elijah and Hayley have it handled."
He lets me go and takes a step back.
"So if they have it covered, why can't I leave?"
He doesn't answer.
"Why can't I leave?"
Then I realize.
He doesn't trust me to stay safe.
I'd promised I wouldn't go to the bayou alone and I did. He wanted Hayley to go with me to make sure I'd be okay and I'd gone alone and ended up getting shot.
"Why can't you trust me to make my own choices?" I ask
"It's not that simple love."
"Yeah it kinda is."
"Lorelei-"
"Nik if I hadn't gone out there, all the wolves would be dead right now. They had no idea the shooters were even out there! It was better that it was me than anyone else." I say
"Don't say that."
"It's true."
I move over towards the bed and sit down. We don't talk for a few minutes. I take a deep breath or two, trying to calm myself.
"Nik I'm sorry." I say with a sigh and sit down on the bed
"I want you to be safe." He says
"I get that. I'm just sick and tired of being stuck in here all the time. It's suffocating."
"You can't go back to the bayou until this gets sorted out. It isn't safe." He explains
"Fine. I won't."
We stare at each other for a long moment.
"I'm sorry I hit you."
"I'm sorry too."
"I love you."
"I love you too."

WISH MOUNTAIN
I could give you a typical synopsis that you'll gloss over...or I could tell you the essence of what the story will be. Still with me? Great! Let's get to it... WISH MOUNTAIN is inspired by fairy tales and, in a way, animated Disney movies. The biggest inspiration of them all is Beauty and the Beast. Why? Because I love it and hate it at the same time. The thing I hate about the movie is how the villain, Gaston, never got a chance for redemption. The movie was all about what is on the inside that counts, right? Beast went from bad-to-good because Belle learned to love and care about him. Was Gaston not worth that same chance for redemption? Sure he was a bad person, but so bad that he couldn't also undergo the same kind of change for the better? It was this question that got me thinking... what would Gaston's redemption look like? What kind of story would that be? From this nugget an entire epic story unfolded that has both outgrown, but has never forgotten, that original inspiration. So what can you expect? In essence: something like an epic, adult-orientated Disney story, which is gloves-off when it comes to violence and character trauma. I'll be doing my best to write a story that is as close to a classic adventure fairy tale with real stakes and meaningful characters as I can. The story begins with two orphans; Amaryllis and Chicory, who are whisked away to the magical WISH MOUNTAIN, and are faced with fending for themselves all alone. This is a HUGE story that will take YEARS for me to finish. If you're ready for a journey to Wish Mountain, then Once Upon a Time begins with Chapter 1...
