Klaus POV:

I walk into the bedroom to see Lorelei snuggled up under the blankets. She'd been out all day in wolf form, came back at dusk, exhausted and collapsed into bed. I'll admit she is getting a lot better.

"Wake up love." I say and gently nudge her

She groans.

"Piss off." She groans still half asleep.

I chuckle.

One thing Lorelei hates most of all is being disturbed while she's sleeping.

I lean over and whisper in her ear.

"Good girls get rewarded love."

She sits up quickly, rubbing her eyes.

I chuckle.

Her eyes say: well I'm waiting.

Then she waits a moment.

"Unless you want to hear hot hybrid sex, go away!" She calls out.

Doors open and family members vanish out of the compound.

I smile.

Stealth: 0

She gets out from underneath the covers and shivers from the change in temperature. On average it's 80° in New Orleans but today it's cold and rainy.

Hurricanes are raging and we are getting the end result.

I won't be too surprised if she takes off to the woods today. Lorelei loves the rain. As soon as she became more accustomed to storms, you'd know that as soon as it's raining, you'll find her out in the woods.

I put a few sets of clothes in the trunks of trees out there for her just in case. A lot of the time she comes home soaking wet and smiling from ear to ear.

I watch as she stands and stretches. She looks out the window and her smile widens.

"What do you want for your reward love?" I ask

"I think you know." She says

"Bend over."

I grab the lube and get undressed. A few minutes later I'm deep in her ass and she's gripping the sheets.

"Harder please Master." She begs

"I think you need me to go slower love." I tease and slow down.

"No Master please!" She begs

I smile and comply picking up speed and she cries out with glee.

Our cuddle session is interrupted by my phone ringing.

She groans in protest.

I answer.

"Stefan. Now is not the best time-" I begin

"Klaus we need you. Tyler bit Caroline." He explains in a worried voice

"What?!" I growl

"She's at my house. We'd use the blood supply you gave us but Tyler destroyed it."

I should've killed that disappointment when I'd had the chance.

"I'm on my way." I say and hang up

"What is it?" Lorelei asks

"We need to go to Mystic Falls."

6 Hours Later:

After six hours on the road Lorelei has become quite a pain in the ass. She doesn't do well on long car trips. If it were up to her, she'd run there in wolf form.

"Nik-" She begins

"Lorelei if I hear one more word out of you so help me I will pull over and you won't like what happens next." I warn

She turns away and looks out the window.

She's never been a fan of Caroline. Lorelei is adventurous and impulsive. Caroline is calm and meticulous. A clash in personality doesn't make for fast friendship.

"Bitch." She mutters under her breath

I pull the car over to the side of the highway. I can feel her tense up. I grab her by the chin and force her eyes to meet mine.

"You will go to sleep for 2 hours and you will not wake until we reach our destination." I say compelling her

I release her and her eyes close. Her head falls back and she snores gently.

I pull back onto the highway.

Two hours later we pull into the Salvatore residence. I put the car in park as Lorelei wakes up. It takes her a moment but her eyes fill with fury when she realizes what I'd done.

"Not a word Lorelei. I put you to sleep to help you and I'll do it again when we leave." I say

We get out of the car and head for the door.

Stefan's POV:

The door opens and Klaus walks in with Lorelei at his heels. He points her to the chair and she sits without saying anything. Klaus turns his attention to me.

"Where is she?" He asks

I motion him towards the other room where Caroline lies on the couch, weak and unconscious from a werewolf bite.

She's covered in sweat and muttering nonsense. In an hour she'd be dead. They got here just in time.

Klaus bites into his wrist and puts it under her nose. She wakes to the scent, fangs out. She grabs his wrist and sinks her fangs in, feeding for a few moments.

"There you go love." Klaus soothes her

Lorelei rolls her eyes and with his back to her, Klaus didn't see. For a moment I wonder what her problem is.

Jealousy.

Elena had filled us in on the relationship between the two hybrids.

Crazy.

I turn my attention back to Caroline. She's stopped feeding. The bite in her shoulder heals but she doesn't move. She'll need time to recover. Tomorrow she'll be good as new. I turn to Klaus, reaching out a hand. He takes it and we shake.

"Thank you Klaus." I say with a smile

"You're welcome." He replies

"Can we go?" Lorelei asks from the couch

He shoots her a look and she shifts her focus to a wall.

"I think I'll stay for a drink. Long road trip and all." Klaus says

Lorelei presses her lips together into a fine line but says nothing. I offer him a glass of burbon which he accepts. He downs it.

"What happened?" He asks

"From what I can gather, Tyler went into the woods enraged by something and Caroline followed him. I'm not sure if he knew it was her but he attacked. She snapped his neck and stumbled her way here. When she got here she was barely conscious. I put her on the couch and went to get the blood only to find it destroyed. Then I picked up the phone and called you." I explain

Klaus's eyes full with rage. He was in love with Caroline once.

"She's okay now Klaus." I say knowing all to well if his murderous intent

"I'll kill him." He growls

"She'll never forgive you. No matter how badly he treated her." I say

He sighs, knowing I'm right.

"Where is he?" He asks knowing all too well that I won't tell him in case he goes after Tyler.

"He took off out of town."

"I should give you more blood before we take off in case this happens again."

I leave the room, grabbing a box of empty vials and come back. Klaus goes to work filling them and placing them carefully back into the box. When he's done about 20 minutes later, he turns to me.

"I suppose it's time for us to go. Tell Caroline she's always welcome to come to New Orleans." He says

He wants to leave before he changes his mind about not hunting Tyler down.

"I understand. I'll let her know. And thank you again."

Klaus POV:

I walk over to Lorelei and she stands up, walks past me and gets in the car.

She's clearly still upset that I compelled her. I don't do it often, only when needed but it still makes her angry.

I compel her to sleep again.

Hopefully once she wakes, she'll feel better.

Nine Hours Later:

It takes longer to get home due to a few car accidents on the highway. We pull in and park. Lorelei wakes and gets out without a word. She enters the compound and heads for the fridge.

She pulls out a blood bag and grabs her earbuds, putting them in and sipping from the bag. She sits down in the foyer. Ever since she had moved in, she spent more time in this area of the house than anywhere else. She watches the water in the fountain.

Lorelei POV:

I'm pissed but say nothing. I don't have the energy to argue. We'd fed once we had gotten to Mystic Falls but I'm still hungry. And angry.

I sit sipping from my blood bag and listen to the band Starset on my phone, turning the music up so loud it drowns out everything else.

I stare at the fountain and my thoughts race.

How could he just compel me like that? He knew I wouldn't have approved if he had asked. I don't do well in confined spaces and it too right ours to get there. If we had taken off on foot like I had wanted to we would've gotten there in a minute. Hybrids travel faster than the speed of sound. Why can't he just listen to me?

I finish my bag and go toss it in the trash. I pull my earbuds out.

"Love we should talk about this." Klaus says

"I don't want to talk about this Nik. I don't even want to be around you right now. I'm going out to the bayou. Just...leave me alone." I say

He opens his mouth to say something but closes it and I leave.

I take off to the bayou. Once I'm there I shed my clothes and transform. I take off running a normal speed, over rocks and dodging trees.

I continue long after the sun has set.

I see something in the distance and skid to a halt. A woman. She turns around quickly.

Hayley.

She looks like she's about to attack when she realizes it's me.

"Lorelei you scared the shit out of me! I didn't expect anyone out here!" She says

I stare up at the sky. It's getting dark. I see the faint glow of the moon.

"Letting off some steam?" She asks

I let out a long exhale.

She nods.

"Want some company?"

I exhale again.

She looks around.

"Don't worry about clothes, Klaus put a bunch inside the trees for you. I'll show you when you're ready." She says as she strips.

She transforms into a beautiful grey and white wolf.

She looks at me then takes off. I follow. We explore some more of the bayou for what feels like forever (in a good way) then she guides me to a tree. She waits a moment then goes to stand a few feet behind me, guarding.

Hayley and I have had nights like this more often than I can count through the years.

Being a wolf is freeing in a way you can't put into words. No troubles can find you. It's just you under the glow of the moon, woods all around. As hybrids we have an advantage being able to change at will, we like to meet at least once a week to get some stress relief, roaming the bayou together.

I get dressed, black leggings and a black tank top and follow Hayley to the house on the river. I go in, grab her a pair of clothes and set them down then turn around, watching the woods.

A few minutes later she walks over towards me, now in regular hybrid form.

"So what's going on that you showed up two days early?" She asks

"Nik. He compelled me earlier to go to sleep. I get why but it still sucks." I say

"Yeah he's all class." She jokes

I smile.

"What about you?" I ask

She sighs.

"Just dealing with drama with Elijah. I want to break things off as best I can without having to do damage control afterwards." She says

"Makes sense." I say

The sky crackles and ignites as lightning strikes across the sky. As much as I'd like to stay out, I also need to feed again and take a shower.

Hayley and I return to the compound together. I decided at the very least to grab a jacket before I went out to feed. Hayley heads for her bathroom to shower.

I walk into the bathroom, grabbing a coat and turn around to see Klaus.

"You're back." He says

"Yeah."

"Listen love I-" He begins

"Look Nik I've been running around for hours now and all I care about at the moment is having a bite. I really don't want to talk about this right now." I say

"May I join you?" He asks softly

"Yes but you know my rule." I say

"I'm aware of your need to not feed on the innocent."

"Good." I say

We walk together out of the compound and into the streets of the French Quarter.

I stand in the alleyway waiting for my prey. Even with the weather, it doesn't take long. A drunk man stumbles out of Rousseau's bar, clearly intoxicated.

I walk over to him.

"Well hello there pretty lady." He says

If I was human I would've turned and ran as fast as I could. This man gives off extremely bad vibes.

I look around, seeing no humans I grab him and throw him against the wall. I'm starving and have no energy to play nice.

"What's your darkest secret?" I ask

My compulsion forcing only the truth from his lips.

"A year ago I committed a hit and run. I was speeding on the highway and driving drunk and I didn't see the guy. It turned out he was on the shoulder of the road helping a woman with a flat tire. I panicked and drove off. I came to find out he had died as a result. I was never caught." He tells me

"And do you regret your actions?" I ask

"No."

I sink my fangs deep into the man's neck. I feed as he almost topples over. I pin him against the wall.

Suddenly I sense Nik's presence on the other side of the man. He too sinks his fangs into the main's neck and once he's done, he sinks his fangs into his wrist, drawing blood and forcibly feeds it to the stranger. I watch as the neck wound heals.

"You're going to walk to the closest police station and turn yourself in. Forget meeting us." Klaus says

The man walks away, driven by the mind control and Klaus turns to me.

"Lorelei I really need to talk to you about earlier."

"No you don't." I say

He speeds around to stand in front of me.

"I only compel you when necessary. That was the deal." He says

"I get it. You were doing it to take care of me in your own way." I reply

He brings me in for a hug.

"Now can we go home? I really need to shower." I say

We walk home together. He to the study room so he can paint without waking me and I head off to our bathroom. I take a steaming hot shower, nearly falling asleep in the process then climb into bed and pass out.
