《His Innocent Fox... BoyXBoy》Chapter Thirty-Four

later on that Night, unable to go to sleep, as I stare at Robyn, who is asleep beside me without any knowledge of Xavier being spotted, and think about earlier. I roll over, tearing my eyes away from my peaceful brother, and look up at Niko.
He looks back down at me, his deep brown eyes shining in the darkness, as I give a small sigh, and lay my head on his bare chest. He begins to play with my hair, earning content purrs from within me, and finally, I begin to fall asleep... Letting my worries slip away for the time being.
I stir awake as I feel my pillow shift away from me. I open one eye just enough to peek out but still look like I'm fast asleep, and watch with my eyebrows knitted together in confusion, as Niko quickly pulls on his clothes, and heads for the door. I keep myself relaxed and my breathing deep, as I feel his eyes land on me, and then... He's gone.
I wait until I can no longer hear his footsteps, before I spring upwards, rub the sleep from my eyes, and look around. I notice his phone is laying on the nightstand to my right, completely forgotten, and, on impulse, I grab it.
" Hm..." I hum softly, seeing that it's only four in the morning, which means everyone else is at school, before I unlock the phone, remembering his password by heart, and begin scrolling through his contacts.
" Hm... Al, Jazz, Jaxx, Jemm, Ky, Cas, Ollie... Finn, Lukah... Ah-ha! Troye!" I mumble, ending with a triumphant squeak, as I find the contact I was looking for, and hit it. I scroll up through all the messages, until I finally reach the start of the conversation from earlier on in the Night, and begin to rapidly read.
" Ha! Meeting at the Meadow, eight miles into the Woods, four o'clock sharp!" I read aloud, my eyes narrowing in concentration, as I nod, close the tab, and lock his phone again... Before I place it back on the stand, and crawl out of the warm, comfy bed.

I quickly dress myself up in skinny jeans, a thick wool jumper, a pair of wool socks, my combat boots, a scarf, a pair of gloves, and a beanie, before I grab Robyn's jacket that I've been wearing the past few days, throw it on, pull the hood up, and disappear out the window... Being as silent as possible.
" Now... I get to see what you're hiding from me." I growl under my breath, landing in the thick snow silently, before I tighten my hood around my face, keeping to the shadows, and dart into the Woods... Following Niko's fresh scent.
I weave in-between dense, thick-trunked trees, following my Mate's scent blindly, before I FINALLY make it to the Meadow, and I see two figures standing close together... Niko and Troye...
" So it's true then..." Troye asks, his voice just loud enough for me to hear, as I hide behind a tree, and tune in to their quiet conversation.
" I'm afraid so... Xavier is back." Niko responds, his voice smooth but guarded, as I slowly peek my head out, and see him running his fingers through his hair... I know nervous tick! He does that when something bad is happening... Or if there is trouble... Or when he's just agitated.
" I thought you killed him after he stabbed your Mate?" Wait... What?!
" I thought I did as well... I suppose he survived." Niko responds, chilling me to my very core, as my ears flatten, and I lower my head.
" Well... I suppose we are going to have to find him... Before he finds them." Oh my Goddess... With my ears flat, I back away with a whimper, turn tail, and dash away from the Meadow... Heading even deeper into the Woods...
I feel tears spill down my cheeks, but I barely pay them any mind, as I run and run, and don't look back. I suddenly trip over a tree root, how cliche is that, and slam my head against a rock. My vision blurs horridly, which makes it that much harder to see, and I feel blood dribble down the side of my face, as I get onto my hands and knees, and take deep gulps of the freezing cold air... Burning my lungs with each intake.

I go to get up, my heart finally calming down a little, but a hand suddenly grabs my ankle, and I'm pulled backwards. My hands claw wildly at the frozen earth, turning them bright red from the cold, but it's no use, and I'm suddenly flipped over.
The back of my head slams into the ground, earning a sharp cry of pain from me, but I quickly push it away, and look up at my captor. What I see, however, shatters all hopes of escaping, and my eyes widen in absolute terror and shock. Oh Goddess... It's... It's XAVIER!
He grabs my throat tightly in his hand, which resurfaces old memories of that horrid Night, and slams my head into the ground repeatedly. I begin to fade into unconsciousness, but, right before I do, something flies at Xavier from the side, and I hear tussling and loud, terrifying growls... But I can't think about it for long, because the next thing I know, I'm out like a light.
I squeeze my eyes shut tightly, a groan leaving my lips, as I slowly come to, and a million and one scents flood my glands. I scrunch up my nose, almost gagging at the scents that I'm not used to, and open my eyes... Instantly shutting them again, from how bright the lights are overhead.
" Ugnnn..." I groan, rubbing at my eyes with my fists, before I open them again, blinking furiously until I finally get used to the lights, and look around. I find myself looking around in absolute confusion, as I am not met with mine and Niko's room at home, but, instead, I am met with a huge room, with a canopy bed, that has white sheets, grey and white pillows that are comfy, a grey and white duvet, three soft grey fur blankets, and two white fur blankets, grey wood floors, beige walls, a beautiful crystal Chandelier hanging from the ceiling in the very centre, a set of dark oak doors to my left and against the wall the bed is against, and a set of the same dark oak doors to the right of the bed, two dark oak wood nightstands accompanied by twin grey lamps with white shades, and an alarm clock on the nightstand to the left that reads .
Huh? Am I in someone elses room in the Manor? Where... Where the Hell am I? I think to myself, my eyes gazing around the room, as I begin to tremble and shake, fear going through me in thick waves, and whimpers begin to escape my quivering lips.
" Robyn?" I call, praying this is just a room I haven't been in, when suddenly, I remember everything that had happened before, and tears pool in my eyes. Someone saved me from Xavier! But... Who was it, where am I, and... Most importantly, is Xavier... Dead?
I hear the door handles, from the doors in front of the bed directly, begin to jiggle softly, before they swing open, and a man, who towers over me by a good foot and a half, enters the room... As I do a double take, I realize who it is... Osiris Kraine... That Dragon-Shifter who... Oh Goddess... He's the one who damaged Jazz so horridly... Is he... Going to kill me too?
" Hey there Small One... How are you feeling?" Osiris says softly, snapping me from my thoughts, as he begins advancing towards the bed, and my heart does somersaults in my stomach... So, because you all know by now that I am a WONDERFUL person at making logical choices, I give a blood-curdling scream, and dive under the bed... Shifting somewhere in-between falling off the bed and skidding underneath it...

Not knowing why the death of his girlfriend– the author– caused him to awaken in Avner’s body, he sets off to find the truth.
