《His Innocent Fox... BoyXBoy》Chapter One

, boredom taking its toll, as I bat aimlessly at a falling leaf with my dark brown, almost black, paw, and watch it fall to the leaf-strewn ground below. I gaze out at the stretch of Wood spanning out in front of me, my large black eyes half-lidded, as I give a big yawn, and stretch myself out across the frost-ladden ground.
I pull myself to my feet after awhile, the chilly Autumn air creeping its way through my thick fur, as I shake out my dirty, leafy fur with a soft snort, and pad back inside the safety and warmth of the Den. I heave an internal sigh again, feeling that familiar tinge of loneliness and absence, as I see the large Den is empty, void of any life, and Robyn, my older identical twin, is nowhere in sight.
Remembering he went off to Hunt not even an hour ago, I sulk over to the far left corner of our home, where our pile of hay, soft grasses, dead leaves, and the two old blankets from our home lay in a nest, circle the center a few times, before I lay down, tuck my front paws under my fluffy chest, lay my head down within the warmth of our Nest, and curl my tail around my tiny body... Covering my snout with the fluffy softness.
Maybe Robyn will find some good food for us tonight... Autumn has been extra hard for us this past year for some reason... We aren't getting enough nutrients, and it's making us weaker and a lot more tired then we used to be... I know Robyn has been trying his hardest... Getting what he can, when he can... But I can't think of the last time we ate a hearty meal since that Night. I just... Hope he gets lucky.

I must've nodded off sometime while I was waiting for Robyn's return, because I am jolted awake by the sound of light paw-steps on the packed dirt floor of the Den, and the tantalizing scent of fresh rabbit... A Fox favourite!
I jump to my feet, my fluffy tail wagging wildly behind me, and begin to jump around Robyn with a series of happy yelps and yips. Robyn places the decently plump bunny down on the ground between his paws, and gently nuzzles my head with his snout. I run my cheek along his, a greeting signature between Wolves and Foxes alike, and gently nip at his jaw with my sharp teeth... A sign of affection.
He nips me back, his pretty, coal-like eyes holding fondness and affection, and then sits back on his haunches as I copy the movement. We begin to chow down on the juicy, tender meat hungrily, not being able to stop, until it's all gone, and we are finally full and content. I swipe my tongue across my lips, a content purr rumbling in my chest, and then assist Robyn with burying the bones far away from our Den so wild animals don't snoop around at Night and attempt to hurt us.
' How hard was it to find this good bunny Bird?' I ask Robyn through our mind-link, sitting back down in our comfortable Nest, as I swipe my tongue across my paw, and run it over my large ears.
' Quite hard Kit... I had to go into the Field just to find it! Thank Nix I did though... This is the only good, filling meal we've had in months! I hope it keeps up... We won't survive another Winter with so little food.' Robyn responds, and I know every word he says is nothing but the truth... We WILL die without a good food supply! And this Fall is just... Not being good to us lately. I hope we get some food soon... We need a miracle if we are to survive.

' Promise me something Bird...' I murmur to him, nuzzling my head against his warm chest, as he gently licks my head, and we just watch the leaves fall outside.
' Anything Sweetie.' He responds after a few moments, his words soothing and gentle in my head, as I lay back down, tucking my paws underneath my chest again, and breath in his comforting scent of Vanilla and Lilac.
' Even if we die, promise you won't leave me alone in the Afterlife... I can't be abandoned again... Not---*Yawn*---again.' I whisper, fading off into sweet sleep again, as he lays down beside me, places his head beside mine, his warm breath fanning my cheek, and wraps his tail around me.
' I promise...' Those are the last words I hear, sweet, soft, and most of all, , before I finally slip away... Curled up with the one person who will never leave me, and content for the first time, in a time... I hope something good happens soon... We can't survive long like this.
I jump awake, as a series of soft leaf crunches sound throughout the otherwise dead-silent Woods, and my hackles are raised instantly as I jump to my feet. I lower my head, my lips peeled back in a silent snarl, and slowly creep closer to the Den Entrance.
' Robyn! Get up now! Something... Something is approaching the Den!' I instantly begin to snarl and growl at Robyn through our link, my fur bristling wildly, as I crouch down until my belly fur brushes the ground, and slowly peek a bit of my head out from behind a jutted out tree root.
' Stay back! Don't you dare let anyone see you! It's not just something Ravyn! It's a---'
' Vampire...' I finish in horror, instantly skidding backwards, as Robyn suddenly grabs my scruff between his sharp teeth, and throws me towards the back of the Den. Knowing what he wants me to do, I instantly scramble to my feet, so shocked and filled with horror and dread that I nearly fall over, and wriggle through the emergency Exit with quick speed.
After a few tense minutes, I finally emerge out the other side, still pressed against the cold ground so I don't attract unwanted attention, and slink around the large Oak tree that covers our Den. Robyn appears at my side moments later, and we timidly peek our heads out from behind the thick trunk.
I asked for a miracle Nix! Not a Nightmare...
