《Always (Steve Harrington X Reader)》Chapter 014

One Month Later
I see Dustin trying to to tie his bowtie in his room. I shake my head and walk inside to help him.
I swat his hands away and get to work, "Why are you so dressed up?" Dustin questions.
"I have a friend date."
"With Billy?"
"Maybe..." I look up at his hair and giggle.
"What?" He asks in annoyance.
"Nothing," I laugh, "You look great."
"Dusty, Your ride's here!" Our mom informs.
"Coming!" Dustin yells.
Dustin runs out of the room and I hear him talking excitedly. I check my makeup one more time before walking into the living room.
I look down at my high heels and smooth down my knee-length F/C dress.
I look up at the hazel eyes staring back at me, "Steve."
"H-Hey, uh, hi, Y-Y/N," Steve stammers.
I smile and push a lock of hair behind my ear.
"Okay, gross. Can we go?" Dustin interrupts.
"Uh, yeah. Yeah." Steve says awkwardly, not looking away from me.
"We should go before Steve creams--" My eyes widen and I jump forward to put my hand over Dustin's mouth to muffle the rest of his sentence.
I usher Dustin outside, "Bye, Mom!" We both yell when Steve closes the front door.
"See ya at curfew!" Dustin yells and I roll my eyes before sitting down on the porch as Steve and him pull away.
Billy pulls up and I get into the front seat, "What are we doing? Are you finally gonna tell me?"
"Nope," Billy hands me a bandana, "Put this over your eyes, sweetheart."
I look at him skeptically, "Y'know, the 'sweetheart' thing was a lot more appealing when I was drunk."
"Oh, shut it. You love it, sweetheart. Now, put the damn blindfold on."

I shake my head defiantly, "No. You gotta ask nicely."
"Fine. Put the damn blindfold on, please."
I sigh and roll my eyes before complying.
Billy drives off at an ungodly speed and I fumble for my seatbelt before fastening it over my body.
The Camaro squeals to a stop and Billy gets out of the car and walks to my side, he helps me out of it. We walk around for a bit and then I feel myself pushed down gently into a car again.
"Thanks, Hargrove," A familiar voice says and I rip the blindfold off quickly.
"Sorry, sweetheart. Had to happen sometime. You owe me, Harrington." Billy shuts the door and Steve locks it quickly. I throw my hands up in frustration before crossing my arms over my chest angrily.
"He's right. you had to talk to me at some point," Steve sighs
"I should've at least had a choice in the matter," I mumble.
"I'm sorry that I called you Nancy, and I am so sorry I overreacted about you being with Billy."
I shake my head, "I can't just forgive you. You treated me like crap."
"I know."
And made me cry."
"I know."
"And basically called me your property."
"I know."
"...I haven't slept since it happened."
"I know, Dustin told me. I haven't either."
We stay quiet until Steve speaks up again, "I miss you."
"I know," I mock quietly.
"And I love you."
"Do you really? Or did you just say it because I did? Because that's what it feels like."
Steve grabs my hands, uncrossing them, and holds them in his, "I really do love you. Promise. And according to your brother and the other kids...Friends don't lie. And you and I definitely don't lie to each other. I promise that I love you, Y/N Henderson. I always have and I always will."

I lean towards him and kiss him softly, unable to be mad anymore. The kiss gets heated quickly and I end up on Steve's lap.
Someone knocks on the window, interrupting our make out and I thank God that the windows are tinted.
I climb off of Steve and back into the passenger seat. Steve rolls down the window and Chief Hopper appears from behind it.
"Hey, Chief," Steve says politely.
"Hey, kid. You guys are blocking the entrance."
"Oh, uh, we were just making sure my brother got in safely," I smile.
"Okay," Hopper looks at Steve for a moment, "...Harrington?"
"Yes, sir?" Steve asks.
"Your, uh, your lipstick is smudged," Hopper nods and walks off and Steve looks in the rearview mirror at the red lipstick stain on his lips.
I pull the visor down and fix my makeup, "Well, that was embarrassing," I grumble as he starts the car.
We drive off down the road and I grab one of Steve's hands tightly in mine.
We pull up at the quarry and Steve gets out. He walks to my side of the car and opens the door. I step out and he puts a blanket on the hood. We climb up on the blanket and look at the stars.
"You forget how quiet it is at night when you're busy fighting interdimensional monsters," I chuckle, putting my head on his shoulder.
"Yeah," He agrees.
We sit for a few hours in silence just enjoying each other's presence.
Steve sits up and gets off of the hood, and reaches into his pocket. I stand up and walk to his side of the car.
He pulls out a black velvet box and I shake my head, "Steve..." I start panicking in my mind, I'm not ready for something as serious as this! We just got back together!
"It's not what you think," Steve assures me.
He gets down on one knee and I let out a quick breath, "It, uh, it definitely looks like what I think it is."
He opens the box, "It's a promise ring. So, it's kind of what you think...but not until we're ready. This is my promise to love you for the rest of our lives. This is my promise to stay by your side through all of the interdimensonal monster fighting. And hell, even normal stuff like, fights over me being jealous of Billy Hargrove. This is my promise, Y/N...So..."
"I.." Unable to form a coherent sentence, I nod. He puts the ring on my finger. I look at it and see what's engraved on the ring:
Y/N & Steve

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Now that I have my time back, It's just no longer fun to write this story. I won't remove any content for those still curious (a lot of my readers had told me I was doing a good job), but it's not likely I am going to add anything either. Thank you for the adventure that writing this story for you has become. I have read every comment and review and still come back to them. It has been wonderful to see all of you supporting me on this journey.

There was a girl whose feelings changed the world around her, and with every step little smoke clouds emanated from her feet. Her soul pulled right out of her chest like a long, blue comet with a tail, and swirled around her body like a protective blue flame. When she walked in a tight space the very metal itself around her melted and shifted so that she was walking in a cage of blue light, a cage of her own devising. 8 226The Wild Touch
The world of Delmathar has many conflicts and plots that span over the whole world and even into the war torn oceans. That’s not even taking into account that the world is a candidate in the Realm wars… but that’s a story for another day. Instead we will follow the story of how a goddess’s botched attempt of using a weak earth soul to make powerful Grafter for her mother, ends up empowering an unsuspecting little boy. The boy who is called Nosal Brownwhisker, who happens to be a peaceful little buttonless-shirt loving little Capyban. And as the Brownwhisker family tries to juggle their everyday lives on their monster ranch and hiding little Nosal’s secret, more and more developments keep popping up in the village of Pancreedy that makes life more.. interesting. Author’s notes:This is my first fiction and I understand it will suck. Hopefully you will find it to be enjoyable enough to hang around. There’s not going to be any epic world-ending fights or any stuff like that, just some shenanigans generally with the story progressing very slowly as it changes from many viewpoints. The world of Delmathar may seem funky for now so I will promise a glossary every 15 chapters. The wild touch will be updated at least twice a week, with me having no backlog of chapters. So if I get mobbed at work or get sick I will let you know in my notes on a short chapter. I hope you enjoy, and thank you for the people who support me, give me encouragement and pointers.
