《Kumiai, Cookies & “Genki” Club》Chapter 40: Tasting and verdict
Advertisement
“I have a question Fuuki. What’s the point of putting our cookies in the fridge before baking?”
“Good question Aya, the goal is to allow the cookie dough to keep a good shape and keep the cookie core from baking too fast to keep the chewy look you’re going for.”
“For one hour then?”
“One hour is the minimum. You could leave them for two or three hours in reality. It all depends on the variations of the recipe you’re applying.”
“Um, I get it.”
Rina seems to look intensely at the beautiful cookie dough balls, be careful not to drool on them…
“So there’s only a few minutes left.”
“Exactly Rina, the cookie dough bakes up very quickly. You must be on your toes to avoid missing the recipe’s baking time. You want an almost melt-in-your-mouth texture inside, if you leave it even two minutes longer you’ll already lose quality.”
“Chill out. I’ll stay in front of the oven if needed.”
“Haha, no need to look, I’ll set the timer.”
Fuuki puts the plates in the two ovens provided.
“Okay, now the baking is underway, we can get ready for our tasting. I invite you to set up in the lounge area of the club, there are tables and chairs.”
Two members of the cooking club approach the workshop group.
“Welcome to the tea room area of Les Délices du Monde. Please take a seat.”
“Oh~ it really does feel like a professional tea room. Was it like this in the tea ceremony club too, Sophie?”
“It used to happen at a few events that we would do tea rooms in that genre, but generally it was more of a traditional ceremonial atmosphere.”
“There should be a tea room-only club then, I’m sure many people would be interested.”

“Do you know that this club has existed in the past, Rina-chan?”
“Really? It has been disbanded?”
“Well, yes and no. The senpais of the ceremonial club told me last year that there was a tea club once upon a time. But alas, the club was deemed non-productive in relation to the resources they used to run it, so the student council committee at the time forced them to disband the club to free up a room.”
“Heee? That’s a damn hard decision.”
“That’s what I thought too, but they were able to find a more beneficial alternative for this problem. The tea ceremony club absorbed this club and started diversifying its activities to keep all members happy.”
“This is the first time I’ve heard of a club being absorbed by another club.”
“It’s unusual but it’s happened before. Look at me with the surf club, basically, there were three different clubs. One for middle school, one for high school, and one for university. For logistical and organizational reasons, it was decided that the university club would absorb the other two to form one.”
“Now that you mention it, it’s true that there were students of all ages the last time Sophie and I visited you. “
“When you say merging clubs, you also say merging budgets and resources, in the end, we were able to invest in equipment and now the surf club is one of the most organized and attractive sports clubs on campus, hehe.”
“In the case of the tea ceremony club also the budgets have merged and as I said the activities have diversified. Now all styles are practiced and more popular events are held regularly, everyone has found something to do.”
“It’s true that for the record the student committee handles these situations very well, the outcome of these stories is always incredibly positive and productive.”

“Um, I’m interested in this committee now… I’ll have to ask Sana how it’s going at the college level.”
We chat and chat but almost forget that cookies are in the oven, don’t we? Has Rina already forgotten what she came for?
*Bip Bip Bip*
“Cookies are ready!”
Rina instantly turns around completely forgetting the discussion she was having with Aya and Sophie.
Waiters approach the tables.
“We offer a menu of sides and drinks to enjoy your cookies, the first service is free.”
Fuuki takes the cookies out of the oven and lets them rest for a few minutes.
Meanwhile, the beverage service.
“I’m listening, ladies.”
“Warm milk for me.”
“Orange juice, I need some vitamins for my evening surf session.”
“I’d like an iced black tea please.”
“Warm milk, orange juice, and iced black tea. Noted.”
No sooner do the drinks arrive than…
“Here come the cookies!”
Plates are laid out at every table with these still warm wonders ready to be devoured without any form of mercy.
“The moment of truth has finally arrived. Bon appetit to all.”
*yum-yum*
…
“Hmmm, these are super good. Super gourmet, I’m going to have to make up for that tonight, calorie-wise it must be delirious, haha.”
“You have to treat yourself once in a while Aya-chan.”
“That’s right. And so Rina, your verdict?”
“…”
Fuuki gets closer to the girls.
“I hope they are to your liking.”
“…”
The silence settles in the room while waiting for the final judgment of the pseudo-critic.
Her eyes are closed and her mouth is energetically chewing the cookie.
*BAM*
Rina stands up suddenly, everyone looks at her surprised.
She… picks up the second half of his cookie… looks at him intently.
“Well?”
She puts her finger on Fuuki’s mouth.
“Shhhhh….”
Then dips this half into his glass of warm milk in one go before gulping it down in a flash.
*Gulp*
…
*smug face*
“So you didn’t lie Fuuki, I’m even surprised that I haven’t had the opportunity to eat such a simple cookie recipe yet. Simply splendid…”
*Phew*
“Successful challenge, hehe”

Celestial [A Progression Fantasy LitRPG]
Warning!Profanity, unconventional relationships, drug use, descriptive gore and intimacy. Celestial is a slow-paced and action-packed progression fantasy with elements from the LitRPG genre. The story focuses on the protagonist’s personal growth, violence, sex, exploration and adventure. Follow Zelaria as she embarks on her journey of exploration and adventure, seeking ever greater heights of power. With an affinity for the elusive and mysterious Arcane and a preference for the thrill of close combat she nonetheless chooses to walk the path of a mage. A mage may still use weapons but a warrior rarely casts spells as far as she knows. It’s a logical path for her even if others may call it insanity. What do they know? Most people who choose to specialize in wielding mana tend to pick a mage class aligned with their element. Why become a standard mage, average at everything, when you can use your affinity for fire to become a fire mage and cause destruction with ease? The only problem for Zelaria is that no one seems to know how to get a mage class aligned with the arcane. Approaching 17 years of age she’s still at level 0 while her peers have long left her behind, their classes selected at the age of 15 when they became available. Luck is on her side though as she manages to snag employment as a hauler with a party heading on an expedition to a dungeon abandoned centuries ago. They’re looking for riches and danger while she’s still looking for an answer, one she finds at their destination even if not in the way she expected. Nothing is going to stop her from enjoying all that the world has to offer, not the wish of her parents or even her death. I'll be aiming to upload 5 chapters in bulk every week.

Friendship Overload
A capricious master of the past is saved by an unsuspecting girl. When told to pick her reward, she merely asks for his friendship. “If so, then I will be your friend. The best damn friend there ever was!” As such begins the journey of a kind hearted girl and her capricious friend. However, the more they learn about the world, the crueler it seems. Will the girl’s light lift it out of chaos, or will her friend’s hidden darkness bury it completely? What is light and what is darkness anyway? In the end, strength conquers all. (More details below↓ ) For those wanting more clear-cut details about the setting: The story revolves around the adventures of a reincarnated reckless mage with evil tendencies and his prodigious friend who’s trying to be a good person. However, the world they live in is low on resources and overpopulated with several races which hate each other’s guts, overpowered monsters that shouldn’t even exist, and paranoid humans on the verge of destruction. Basically, it’s one giant bloodbath waiting to happen. The MCs need to strengthen themselves, learn and adapt to their surroundings (which become more and more insane with each passing chapter), and eventually, hopefully, do something to stop the madness before the world’s destroyed in warfare.

The Genre of My Life Was Randomized?
The wheel spun and the genre changed. In every chapter, a new canvas made up of a thousand words was formed. I, the creator, do not know the future of this novel. I, the author, is but a mere slave that writes and creates what the wheel has given. What would happen after? What fate awaits the main character? When would you encounter the next chapter? Besides the latter, only the wheel could answer. Author's Note:Salutations dear reader. I'd like to dissuade you from reading this novel due to the following facts: 1. I am an amateur/new/beginner writer so it could be said that I don't know what I'm doing. 2. This novel is something which I wrote in order to hone my skills in adaptability, creativity, and writing in of itself. 3. Every chapter was made after spinning a wheel with the genres: Action, Horror, Romance, Comedy, Fantasy (as of writing) twice. The genres then would be showed in the chapter through theme, part of the story, flow, character, or whatever man idk. In case the wheel would show the same genre twice, the chapter itself would have the result as the main theme of the story with the other genres being free to use in order to fully show the theme. 4. I'm basically yoloing the story, trying to make sense of it even with the randomness of the current and future chapters; I swear I'm not a masochi.. *ahem* moving on, a variable left by the previous chapter won't suddenly just disappear because the next chapter doesn't have the same genre as before, meaning if a character that fits a genre was shown on let's say "Chapter 1", said character wouldn't just disappear or cease to exist for no reason at "Chapter 2" or the following chapters just because the character doesn't fit the genres. To make it short this isn't a collection of short stories but one big story instead. 5. Etc.

A Cleric's Life for me.
This is a casually written story loosely based on TTRPG games like DnD and Pathfinder. The attempt of the story is to have a slow growth in power and comical set of characters who eventually grow close and set off for more serious adventures. There will be plenty of familiars and funny tales that don't involve combat. The intention is not to be a goody-two-shoes cleric story where nothing bad happens. The intention for this story was a slow paced grungy story where everything seemed great at first and things just kept getting worse. I learned how shitty of a story that is to write and honestly I am just not good enough to get the idea down. I plan on revisiting it later.
