《Unstable [Pokémon Fanfic] (Complete!)》12.3

We made it to the Pokémon League by nightfall. I was exhausted and I'm sure Sage was too. Russet and Cerise wanted to stay at the campsite for a while to take care of our and our Pokémon's injuries, but we both declined, instead choosing to perform some quick first aid ourselves.
Once we got to the actual league, we headed straight to the Pokémon Center. We didn't tell the nurse exactly what happened, but she took us in nonetheless.
I woke up this morning sore and a little disoriented. I was alone, so I figured Sage had already woken up. I went to go check on Averie, which is where I am now.
She's still sleeping. The bruise on her face is even more prominent, almost black in color, her fur doing little to hide it. That's mainly my fault; if we hasn't had that battle, it wouldn't look so bad. Her right leg is wrapped in a layer of gauze. Nurse Joy said she needed stitches, which only adds to my guilt. Across her body are an array of more minor cuts and scratches and bruises. I shouldn't have called that battle. I had a plan, a good one too, but I was caught in the heat of the moment. Averie, Weavile, and Sage had to pay the price.
"Hey," I hear someone say. I turn and see Sage. He looks like he just woke up, which he probably has. He has a bandage on on his cheek and a wrap on his upper arm. It looked like he was limping but it was very slight, almost as if he were trying to hide it.
"Good morning, Sage," I respond. "You look tired. Maybe you should go back to sleep."
Instead of giving a response, he changed the subject completely. "I don't trust you, keep that in mind. Maybe I just understand you better."
"You don't trust me," I repeat. "Why?"
"You haven't given me a reason." He frowns and goes to sit next to his Weavile. It looks like she's half conscious. Sage continues talking. "I mean, yeah, you showed me you're a pretty good strategist, but..." He trails off.
"I kinda killed our parents?" He looks at me strangely, almost in disbelief. Why? I'm sure that's the reason.
"Yeah, kinda." He looks away and pets Weavile. "What's the real reason Wulfric let you leave? Tell the truth; why and how are you here?"
"Like I said Sage, I snuck away because I wanted to finish the journey. But also because I wanted to spend time with my younger brother."
He doesn't look too convinced, but nonetheless mutters 'alright'. "I'm gonna go eat," he announces. "See you later I guess." He gives Weavile one last rub before leaving the room. That's strange. I would've guessed he'd already eaten before he came here. Oh well.

Averie shifts a little and lets out a whimper. Dammit, I feel guilty. I wish I hadn't had that battle. Not much came out of it. Well, Sage did say he understood me so that's a start. Not much of one, but a start.
Right now I'm walking around the league with Russet and Cerise. I don't really know why; I guess I just got bored sitting around the Pokémon Center.
"Well, well, well! If it isn't Cerise!" The three of us turn to the voice and see four familiar faces, one of which I'm not happy to see.
There's Canna, who's smiling confidently with a with an Ampharous at her side. Across from her is...Adam? No, Adon. In front of him is a Altaria . Standing off to the side are a little blonde girl, I believe her name is Lisian, and the one I'm not to happy to see, Vera. She's staring back at me, which is only serving to make me more uncomfortable.
"Hey guys," Cerise responds she doesn't sound too entirely happy. Maybe she just doesn't want to see Canna. "Are you guys just getting here?"
Both Canna and Alex, no Adon, frown.
"Hardly," Aaron says. "We've been here for like a week now."
"A week," Cerise exclaims. "Why? What happened?"
Canna pets her Ampharos. "Neither of us can get past the third Elite Four member."
"But you don't battle them in order," Cerise says. "So..."
Canna shakes her head. "It doesn't matter. We've tried four different ways and each time we just end up losing to the third person we face. Drasna, Malva, it doesn't matter." Cerise and Russet frown.
"We asked around," Canna continues, "and it seems like most people are having this problem. Nobody's made it to Diantha yet. Nobody this summer anyway."
That's...strange. Kalos has a reputation for having a pretty easy league. Are they trying to change that image? Why? Kalos attracts a lot of novice trainers because of it. I guess they want more experienced ones.
Cerise looks a little troubled. "So what are you guys doing now?"
"Training," Aldon responds. "It's the only thing we can do, besides leave."
"Hey," I hear someone whisper. look over to see Lisian staring behind me. She giggles and skips over to Jasper, Sage and Peridot who are walking by. She sneaks over to them and tiptoes up behind them.
"Hello there," she giggles ominously. Fairytale girls are creepy but I can't say I dislike them. They're actresses. I want to be an actress. Hex Maniacs, though...those girls are just insane.
The three boys all tell and jump away. When Jasper and Peridot see that it's Lisian, they relax. Sage, on the other hand, keeps his terrified expression.
"Lisian," Jasper sighs, "You scared the crap outta me. Peridot laughs, earning a smile from Lisian. I wonder how old she really is. She looks around their age, give or take a few years. Fairytale girls never look their actual age.

Lisian hugs Peridot tightly. "It's been a really long time." She says something else but I couldn't hear. Peridot nods and smiles softly. Lisian continues talking. "Who's you're friend..." She trails off and stares at Sage. Then, she breaks her cute and creepy act and goes into what Akia described as 'fangirl' mode.
"Oh my gosh! You're Sage Glaçon! "She still holds onto Peridot as she looks at Sage excitedly.
"Yeah..." Sage says sounding unsure.
"Oh wow it is him," I hear A...don say.
"How'd you guys recognize him," asks Russet.
"We watch TV, Ru-ru," responds Lisian. "You should try it sometime. Jasper laughs at the name 'Ru-ru.' I remember Russet's younger sister calling him that. It's honestly pretty strange.
"So Mr. Glaçon," Adon begins, "What brings you here?"
"I'm challenging the league," he mumbles. "It's a tradition in the family. When we turn ten we have to do it."
"You're only ten," Canna asks, almost amazed. "Goodness, you're tall." Sage shrugs his shoulders nervously. I know for a fact he isn't shy. Well I thought anyway.
"Are you using a Ice types," Lisian asks just as excitedly as before.
"No, I have a few Pokémon from the Winding Woods." He shifts uncomfortably.
"Really! What kind?" I stop listening. Vera is staring at me. I noticed Vera kept staring at Sage before looking at me. Is that what was making Sage uncomfortable? I think she sees that we look a little alike. Dammit, she's starting to make a connection!
It looks like she wants to come over to talk to me. Maybe if I just walk away--- and she's coming over here. Great...
"You look a lot like Sage, Sienna," Vera says once she gets over to me. "And, if y memory serves me right, Sage had a sister named Sienna."
I think back to what Akia did this morning. She warned me not to tell my connection to the family. I wouldn't tell Vera anyway. I don't trust her. Something's...off.
"Well, we're not related," I say. "Its just a coincidence."
"What a coincidence that is." I nod, unable to say more. She frowns, her face void of any real emotion. "So if I asked Sage, would he say the same thing?" I shrug my shoulders. If what Akia said is true... Though, Akia does have an imagination. A creative one at that.
"I'd believe so..." She keeps staring at me. "I-I'm leaving now." I turn and walk away. Dear Arceus, that girl is creepy! Russet calls out andnasks where I'm going. I tell him that I'm checking on Averie. I wasn't really, but I might as well now.I hope she's doing better.
It sounds like they're about to start a battle. I can feel Vera staring at me. I really hope what Akia said is true. Otherwise... I don't even want to think about it.
"I don't understand, Sienna. Why would they... Are you sure they said 'Sienna Glaçon'?"
"I'm positive, Akia. They even showed a picture from when I was younger." Akia looks at me.
She sighs. "Do you want me to come down there," she asks me. I nod. This isn't going according to my admittedly not-so-good plan.
"Why would they even though do this," Akia exclaims. "It makes no sense"
"Maybe you were wrong," I offer.
She shakes her head. "No...No! I'm not wrong. Valerie told me. She said they were at a meeting one year when Malva brought you up. Wulfric went ballistic and said not to talk about his dead granddaughter."
I stare at her. Almost laugh in fact, kinda like I did earlier today. "I still find that very hard to believe. And this practically proves you're very, very wrong." She pauses and frowns again.
I mean, come on. What sense does that make? Akia's making this up. Valerie too, for that matter. But still, why didn't Lisian and Adon recognize me. I know its been over five years since I practically disappeared, but Adon is older than me. He should remember. Has my appearance changed that much? That has to be the reason, otherwise this entire thing makes no sense.
"Are you having an internal monologue or like a soliloquy or whatever?" I nod. She rolls her eyes. "Okay. I've noticed that whenever there's a pause on a conversation, you look like you're testing out how many emotions you have." I take a deep breath. Averie snuggles up closer to me.
"I'll see if I can fly down there. I'll probably bring Valerie too." I nod again.
Akia smiles. "Don't have a mental breakdown just yet, little cousin. We'll figure this out. In the meantime, just hide."
"Where?"
"Uhhh...maybe...Drasna! You can hide out in her room. I'll call her up and let her know you're gonna be coming to her. It's nine thirty so she would only have one or two more challengers."
"Alright," I say. "I'll go in at around ten. Tell her to meet me."
"Alrighty," Akia says with a huge smile. "I'll be down there tomorrow! See ya!" The screen goes black. I keep staring at it though.
Averie sighs and sits up on my lap. She looks at me worriedly and wags her tail halfheartedly.
"I know, girl. I know," I say rubbing her head. "I'm in some deep shit now."

The Mentor
This one is for my daughter. She talked me into it (again) and it is her favorite genre of books. So, Bet, this one is for you. The true-bloods, the masters, they came first. That was hammered into Heath's head since he could walk with both words and fists by Karen. As a guardian and half-blood bastard of his vampire father, he would never know peace. His duty as a dhampir, his duty was clear, his fate sealed. Heath was to serve Gerald, an aging Vampire Lord, one who was of pure blood, born to the race, until Heath outlived his prime and then he would pass on the knowledge that was passed to him onto a new bastard to carry protecting the bloodline. But was it necessarily his fate? Could a sterile half breed such as himself, someone who did not exist in the human world, live anywhere in the world on the light? After a particularly nasty encounter with his Mentor, Heath is on the run. Set on not becoming the new guardian and knowing that decision has now marked him for death. The hunt is on and somewhere behind him is Joshua, the heir of his Master, and the thing that plagues his nightmare, his Mentor Karen.
