"Jazz, I don't think think is a good idea. We could get lost. Who am I kiddin', we will get lost." Jasper acts like he doesn't hear me as he drags me through Reflection Cave. The cave is real pretty. The walls and floor are dark blue. I didn't know dirt could be blue. On the ground are some light blue and purple spots. There are columns everywhere with purple and blue jewels in the middle of 'em. Some of the walls have mirrors on them. I guess that's why it's called 'Reflection' Cave. The mirrors are real clear. They're a lot better than mine back home in Santalune. Mine're kinda foggy and scratched all up.
"Perry," I hear Jasper say. "Are you in there? Stop zonin' out and let's keep goin'!" He pulls my arm to try and make me move.
"Jazz," I groan, "Wait a sec." We've gone a real far into the cave. It's actually kinda scary. I know Jasper, and he's gonna get us lost in here. He always got us into trouble back home. Not with our parents, but getting lost or stuck or somethin'. Though I guess it's kinda my fault too since I let him drag me into stuff like that.
"But Perry," he whines snapping me back to reality. People say I zone out a lot. I don't think I do it as much as they say.
"We don't even know where we're going," I say to him tryin' to keep myself on track. He puts his hands on my shoulders and stares straight at me.
"Perry, Perry, Perry, live a little. Come on! Isn't this place pretty. And it has mirrors built into it! And it's a freakin' cave! Come on! It'll be fun! I promise."
"No Jazz. I'm leaving before you get me lost in here." I push his hands off me and begin to walk away. He'll follow me eventually. He always does. He doesn't like goin' on his adventures alone. I wouldn't either. That would be real lonely and I don't like bein' alone. It's scary and-
"Perry," he says, "You just gonna leave me here. All alone. Without even a Pokemon for protection! That's mean!"
I look back but keep walkin'. He's grinnin' strangely. I know that face. He's up to somethin'. But when isn't he. "You're on your own, Jasper. I'll see you in a minute." When I turn around, I bump into someone.

"Excuse me. I'm..." Dear Arceus. I can feel myself shakin' in fear. Oh no, oh no, oh no!
"Mime," the Pokemon in front of me says. Mr. Mime. "Mime, mime! Mister mime!" I run and hide behind Jasper. He laughs at me. So that's why he was smilin'! He's so mean! Not always but a lot of the time he is.
"Shut up and get it away," I yell at him.
"Okay, okay! Gimme Altura real quick." I reach into my pants pocket and hand him Altura's Pokeball. I coulda called her out, but maybe he has somethin' else planned. What if he can catch two Pokemon with one ball! That'd be so cool. I wonder-
"Altura, come on out," he says throwin' the Pokeball into the air. My Eevee pops out.
"Altura, use Bite!" Altura ran forward at Mr. Mime but the Psychic Pokemon used Reflect. Altura crashed through is but it slowed her down so she didn't do much damage. That's too bad.
"Alright, if you're gonna use Reflect, I got somethin' for ya," Jasper says, "Use Swift!"
Mr. Mime moves first and uses Psywave. The pink, purple, and yellow beam hits Altura dead on but she shakes it off and sends a wave of bright yellow stays at Mr. Mime. It doesn't do much though... And that Psybeam did a lotta damage to Altura. I hope she's alright. What if-
"Use Swift again!" Mr. Mime uses Light Screen makin' the stars hit it weakly. That's not fair! It shouldn't be able to use Reflect and Light Screen!
"Dammit," Jasper yells. He curses a lot. I'm tryin' to get him to stop but he won't. Eight year olds shouldn't curse like that. I curse too but he does it more than me. I- "Try again Altura!" Once again Altura uses it again but not before Mr. Mime uses Encore. Is Pysbeam its only attack move? That's stupid!
"Oh great," Jasper muttters. "Altura, you know what to do."
"Eevee," she yelps and sends another wave of stars that hits Mr. Mime. The Psychic type uses Psybeam. I guess it really is its only attack move.
"Dodge it and use Swift!" She jumps in the air and fires Swift. The stars break the Light Screen.
"YEAH," Jasper and I both yell. "Finish it!" Another line of stars is sent out but are met by Psybeam. Luckily, Swift is stronger and hits Mr. Mime, knocking him out. Thank Lugia!

You see, I have a fear of humanoid Pokemon. Mr. Mime, Jinx, Gardevoir, Machamp. They all scare the crap outta me! I don't know why, but something about them is just... creepy. I mean, what if they used to be humans?
"Good job, Altura," we say as we bend down and pet her. I pick her up and feed her an Oran Berry. It was in my backpack. Malachi said I should start carrying them now that I have my own Pokemon. "You're such a good battler."
"I thought you didn't want her," Jasper says.
"It's not that," I say. "I just didn't think I was ready for a Pokemon. I guess Malachi thought differently."
He frowns. He normally does anyway but this one's more of a sad type of frown. "I wish Malachi was my brother. Russ is such a pain in the ass."
"Don't say that. Russ really cares about you."
"Whatever," he mutters. Then he smiles. He really looks like Russ when he does. But he doesn't smile much. I want him to smile more. He looks good when he smiles. I mean, he looks good anyway. Really good even when he doesn't but he looks especially good when he smiles. But doesn't- "Let's keep going. Or do you wanna try to go back and brave the Mr. Mime alone?"
I can feel my already pinkish face turn a deeper shade. "Shut up, Jasper." I still follow him, though. No sense in facing my fears now. Or ever. I'm good with bein' afraid of humanoid Pokemon.
"Jazz, we're lost."
"Ee~vee~," Altura says in agreement.
Jasper's still quiet. I guess he knows we're lost. He never listens till we're already in some sorta situation. Then after that he doesn't apologize for not listenin' to me! That's so rude! I gotta tell him 'bout that one day.
"Jazz," I say. "Come on, let's go back before we get even more lost." He stops in front of a mirror and looks at his self. I look at myself too. I think I look good! I think Jasper looks pretty good too! Our clothes are kinda roughed up, though. Compared to our brothers, we're dressed real simple. Jasper's got on a blue hoodie and shorts. I've got on a gray shirt and some khaki pants. Our brothers always dress like they're going on a date. Well, I guess since Malicai is traveling with his girlfriend he is always on a date.
"Do I really look like Russ," Jasper asks me. "Cuz I don't wanna. I don't wanna have anything to do with him."
I don't wanna tell him that he only looks like him when he smiles so I tell him he only looks like Russ when he frowns. I don't like how Jasper looks angry all the time. I like it better when he smiles. That's a good reason to lie, right? I hope so cuz I already lied.
He shakes his head making his black hair move around. A lotta times people say it's just dark brown but it's really pitch black. He runs his hand through it to make it a little neater, then he smiles at me. "This better?"
"Yeah. But seriously Jazz, we gotta get outta here." I'm actually kinda hungry but I don't wanna eat till we're outta here. It would be kinda fun though to eat in a cave.
"Yeah..." He turns his head opposite of me. "I'm gonna go run up there and see if there's a way out."
"Kay," I call as he starts running. He gets to a ledge and leans forward to look around. I watch him closely to make sure he doesn't fall or disappear or somethin'. That'd be real scary! I hate bein' alone.
"Nope, nothin'." He takes a step forward but then something falls from the ceiling and hits him on the head. He falls down and hits his head on the ground hard.
"JASPER," I scream as I run as fast as I can to him. He's was bleeding really badly from his head and he was unconscious.
I'm really really scared now. Jasper doesn't look too good. He's getting real pale and it's a lot of blood and I can see a big cut on his head all the way down to his forehead and and... I don't know what to do!
I bend down and look over to the blood covered Feroseed. It must've fell and hit Jasper. Now I'm crying. And Altura is nudging Jasper to try and wake him up. His chest doesn't look like it's moving. I'm too afraid to check his pulse. What if he's... what if he's dead? I start crying hard. Please Jasper! Don't die! Please don't be dead! I need my best friend with me! Please Jasper! Wake up!
I don't wanna be alone...

The prophecy had been told, and she is the only one who can make things right. Erm... probably. Anyway, she can't just go and kill monsters like in the middle ages. First, she must apply for the appropriate permissions, fill the forms, learn about the proper loot taxations... Hey, no one said adventuring would be easy, right? Disclaimers: No claim made by any character by the book should be treated as the author's or anyone else's opinion on any subject. Most likely, it was just the funniest thing the Author could think of at the time of writing. This book contains many references to other works. It will probably be best enjoyed by individuals familiar with at least some of the following: 1) Computer games2) Fantasy in general3) Science fiction4) Tabletop RPGs5) Conspiracy theories6) Corporation work life7) Long forgotten prophecies uttered millennia ago in almost as forgotten languages under a starless night three dusks before the great convergence8) Filling any government-mandated form9) School10) EnglishMy ultimate goal is to make as many people experience something akin to joy while reading (think ~a bit louder exhale through the nose). It doesn't mean every scene will be funny or joyful because that's not how this stuff works. I can neither confirm nor deny having any other hidden agenda outside of that.
