《Prostitute's Fate》Chapter 27

My whole body was hurting. Yesterday it felt like every bone of my body was broken. Every muscle was torn. But now sitting beside that beast all I could feel was regret.
Regret for not helping myself.
Regret for not standing up against him.
Regret for not helping Ananya.
Regret for ruining her life.
I tried blocking everything from my mind. I even tried to feel pain but couldn't. It doesn't pain now maybe due to medicines. But then I should feel sleepy too. I tried to sleep but then her face came infront of my eyes.
I was starting to get frustrated due to all these. I tried to stop Ananya but she continued to stare at me with her pleading eyes just like I did yesterday.
I saw myself in her. I remembered how easily I ignored her quivering lips, her tears. I remember every thing and that got my emotions everywhere.
Samaira was acting strange. Reyansh called her name a few times when she shuffled uncomfortably. She acted like she didn't heard him or might be she actually didn't.
"Myra, are you OK?" he asked again hoping for an answer but got nothing in return. Her attitude angered him and he stopped car at an appropriate place.
The car stopped but Samaira didn't reacted at all. It looked like she was watching out of window but her mind was playing games with her. Her behavior irked him and he held her arm, turned her and without any second thought backhanded her with such a force that her head started spinning.
"Just yesterday you got beaten up and now you forgot all the rules" He was practically taking out his frustration on her. He left her arm urging her to speak.
Samaira wanted to speak but all her energy was drained. And Reyansh wasn't taking it well. So he did what he thought was right. He held her chin roughly.

"Do you want me to remind you all the rules again?" He asked her dangerously and kept his another hand on her legs.
Memories of how he made her learn all the rules flashed back mixed with the painful memories of Ananya this was too much for her to handle. Before she could say something, she passed out.
Reyansh was taken aback. He hurriedly took a u turn back to the hospital. He remembered doctors advised him to be gentle with her but he didn't knew that she couldn't handle even this much.
"What the hell is wrong with her? If she is this weak then how did she cope up with being a Prostitute? " He wondered aloud while driving.
Again same doctor examined her. That doctor felt bad for her but she knew she can't go against him. He is a billionaire and if he wants he can make her life hell. She pitied Samaira but didn't had the courage to help her even when she asked for help.
Doctor came out to face Reyansh who was visibly looking worried for her but then if he was truly worriefor her then she shouldn't be here in hospital. She thought.
"MR. Reyansh she is not in a condition to handle any stress. She fell unconscious due to stress only. There are a few fresh fingerprints on her face that might have added to her misery." She said.
Now this time Reyansh knew he was wrong so he stayed silent much to doctor's shock and listened everything patiently.
He entered her room. She was lying there without any care of the world. He felt truly guilty this time for he knew he did wrong. Samaira saw him but didn't acknowledged his presence there.
He gave her a dress which he bought on the way for her to change as she was still wearing that party gown. She silently obliged and came out of bathroom after changing.

Reyansh wanted to speak but couldn't find appropriate words. After many failed attempts in his mind he finally spoke aloud much to her discomfort.
"Myra, let's go home now. You need proper rest." He said in such a polite tone that she couldn't believe. It was visible that he was feeling guilty so Samaira decided to speak for herself.
"I don't want to go back there." she tried to say these words with confidence but it came out more as a plead. "I don't want to be anywhere near you. Please leave me alone."
Her words triggered him again. All the guilt he was feeling vanished into thin air. He no more cared about her.
"Why? Want those vultures to pounce on you? Want to spread your legs for others again? Getting bored with one man?" He gritted out while squeezing her cheeks between his fingers ruthlessly.
"No, because I am tired of you, of myself. I am tired of everyone and everything. I am tired of this pathetic life of mine. I don't want to live anymore so just kill me already." she said with the new found strength.
Reyansh didn't replied he just scooped her up in his arms forcefully and took her to their car. She tried to struggle but nothing worked. She pleaded to others for help. They did nothing except giving her pitiful looks. She was used to these looks.
He seated her on passenger seat and then went to driver's seat to head back home. Once they both were settled he started driving.
"Never ever speak about dying or leaving me" he spoke while looking ahead. The expressions on his face was unreadable. Samaira didn't replied as she knew it wasn't going to affect him. So why waste her leftover energy on him.
They reached their mansion. Both came out almost together but every one present there were looking at Samaira with shocked. Reyansh grabbed her hand possessively and glared at each and everyone.
They soon lowered their eyes but their mind kept showing battered and bruised Samaira. That's when Reyansh looked at her properly and regretted deeply.
She was wearing a simple kurti and leggings. Her face had multiple hand marks. Her wrist still had bruises. Her left hand was broken. She couldn't even stand properly due to his cruelty on her legs.
He held her hand and took her inside only to see a fuming Hitesh standing there.

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
