《The Third String.》Chapter- 25

The next two days just went by completing the adoption process and today we were bringing Nitya home. Sahil was very excited too as all his insecurities were gone.
" Shivi, will you please get ready quickly? We have to bring our little angel home." Abhimanyu said, a little impatiently as I was putting on Kajal.
" I am almost done. You go and wait by the car with Sahil. I'll be right there." I said and he nodded, walking away.
It was just the three of us going to bring her home. Mom and dad were staying here to welcome her and Diya was in college for an exam.
I was finally ready. Taking my dupatta, I went out too.
" You look so beautiful mumma!" Sahil said and jumped into my arms, kissing my cheek.
" Thank you beta." I replied, cuddling with him.
It took us about an hour to reach the NGO orphanage and the moment we were here, Sahil stormed inside. We had been visiting Nitya daily for the past two days so that we would start to gel up with Sahil.
" Shivi, I will go and complete the remaining paperwork. You go with Sahil. I'll meet you there in a while." Abhimanyu said and I nodded. He had turned around to leave when I stopped him by holding his hand.
" Thank you so much for doing this Abhimanyu. I love you." I said and then he took me in his arms.
" Shivanya, I have done nothing. It's all you love." He said, giving me the brightest of smiles.
" You know what, you go and spend time with Sahil and Nitya. I'll get the paperwork done." I said, giving him a nod.
" Are you sure?" He asked.
" Are you not?" I questioned back and saw his expressions turn into that of amusement.
" Well, aren't you in the mood to be sarcastic today." He commented and I rolled my eyes.
" Go." I said, pushing him in the other direction and then made my way to the office to finish the formalities off and then take Nitya home.
It took me about half an hour to get everything done and as I made way to where my boys and my angel were, I saw the cutest of sight. Abhimanyu was carrying both Sahil and Nitya in his arms and they were asleep.
" These two got tired playing in the sun and fell asleep." He whispered to me and I nodded, smiling.
As we sat in the car, placing both the kids at the backseat with the seatbelts on, it felt like everything was complete.
" This is such a beautiful feeling. Being a dad for the second time." Abhimanyu said and I nodded.
" I know right! I am a mother of two best kids in the world." I exclaimed and then sighed a little.
" Mrs. Singhania, now I know that we are parents of two but that doesn't mean it gives you the license to ignore your husband." He joked and I couldn't stop myself from laughing.
" What? Do I think I am kidding? Well, I am not and if you still don't believe me, we can have another honeymoon to assure you." He said and his deep husky stupid voice left goosebumps all over me and I hit his arm.
" Why are you so shameless?" I asked him, rolling my eyes.
" Why are you still so shy?" He asked back and I gave his a glare.

" Staring at me won't answer my question." He reminded me. Duh.
" What makes you think that I am planning to answer your question?" I spat back.
" Oh I know you won't because you have no answer." He replied, smirking.
" Mom and dad are so humble, Diyu is such a sweetheart too. How did you turn out to be so arrogant and full of yourself?" I really wondered how this happened.
Before he could answer, Sahil and Nitya started to wake up. I turned around to look at them.
" Papa, how much more time will it take for us to reach home?" Sahil asked, fully opening his eyes.
" Ten more minutes champ. Did you and Nitya have a good nap?" Abhimanyu asked him to which the two of them nodded.
" Nitya, princess are you excited to meet your new family?" I asked her and she looked a little unsure to answer at first.
" Yes!" At last, we got a reply.
" Nitya, you know, I have so many toys. We will play when we reach home." Sahil said and she looked excited.
We were home and as Abhimanyu parked the car, we walked inside to see so many people at home and everything was decorated.
There was a huge banner saying WELCOME HOME NITYA and Mom, dad, Diya, mumma, papa, bade papa, badi maa, Vivaan bhai, bhabhi, Reyansh, Lavanya and Abhi's friends Kunal and Preeti were here.
Nitya must have gotten a little overwhelmed so she immediately hid behind Abhimanyu who turned towards her and picked her in his arms.
" It's alright my doll. All these people here love you and are here to meet you. Come on." He talked to her in such a soft voice. I had no idea he could be such a soft person when he wanted to be.
" No hit me?" She asked, her eyes almost tearing up which broke my heart in a million pieces. I was about to walk towards them when Abhimanyu hinted me not to.
" No Nitya. I promise that no one will hit you. Do you trust me?" Abhimanyu asked and she nodded her head slightly.
Abhimanyu then, didn't let her go away from his arms but walked to each and every person to introduce them to her.
" Mumma, why is she so scared of everyone?" Sahil, who was standing next to me, holding my hand asked.
I bent down on my knees to his height to talk to him. It was important.
" Beta, there are different kinds of people in this world. Some are good and some are bad. Nitya was staying with some bad people who used to beat her and that is why she is a little afraid of new people. Now as her elder brother, it is your responsibility to protect her and play with her. Alright?" I asked him, keeping a hand on his cheek and he seemed to understand.
" Yes mumma, I will always protect my little sister. I promise." He said, hugging me.
" I know champ. Just remember that I love you and will never stop loving you. My love for you will only multiply." I told him.
He kissed me and then ran to where Abhimanyu and Nitya were along with Diya, mom and dad.
" You know Shivi, I am proud of you." I heard mumma who was standing with badi maa, bade papa and papa.
I stood up and hugged her.

" We are proud of you my doll. You have never let our up-bringing down and always made us proud." Papa said, giving me a gift.
" What is this?" I asked him.
" Well, my daughter has become a mother for the second time, she deserves this." He said and I opened it to find a beautiful necklace in there.
" Thank you papa." I said, hugging him too.
" You know Shivi, Aditi was right. She knew that it was you who could look after Abhimanyu and Sahil like she did. She knew you more than you know yourself." Badi maa said, keeping a hand on my head.
" Here, this is for my princess." Bade papa handed me over another gift. It was a really pretty dress.
" I love you all so much. Group hug?" I asked and they nodded.
" Vivaan bhai and bhabhi....get here!" I called for them and they obliged as we shared a group hug.
" Now go and look after your kids. I think Sahil is on his 3rd pastry and all Abhimanyu is doing is encouraging him to have more. Nitya is busy playing with her bua for now." Bhabhi said and I rolled my eyes at Abhimanyu. The guy is impossible.
" Abhimanyu, stop spoiling my son!" I shrieked as I walked to where they were eating.
" Excuse me, but don't you mean our son?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
" No, I don't. You are not even a decent parent. All you do is spoil him rotten." I accused him with the truth.
" Mumma." I heard an extremely cute voice and turned around to see Nitya who had made her way to where we were standing and was extending her arms to be picked up.
I took her in my arms, kissing her cheek.
" Nitya....can you say that once again?" I asked her in baby voice but her agenda was totally different.
" Mumma, please no shout papa and bhaiya." She said and looked at Sahil and Abhimanyu.
" Haww....I have no one in my team?" I asked, looking at the three of them.
" No." Abhimanyu said, as he took Nitya in his arms from mine and she went without a fuss and giggled at Abhimanyu who was making funny faces at her.
" I am on your side mumma. I will always be on your side." Sahil said, as he kept the pastry like a good boy and stood by my side holding my hand.
" My boy." I said, taking him in my arms and started at Abhimanyu who was lost in his own world with Nitya. It was such a heart-warming sight to see.
Soon, both the kids exhausted themselves and I put them to sleep after feeding them lunch. Abhimanyu was talking to the guests.
Walking back to the living room from the kids bedroom, I took a glass of water and sat, extremely tired. That's when Reyansh and Lav came to me.
" Finally mamma bear has time for her friends." Rey said. I mean, are they even your friends if they miss onto one single chance to taunt you!
" How have you guys been? How's your morning sickness Lav?" I asked the two of them.
" Good. Much better now that the baby will pop out soon." She told me and I nodded.
We talked for a while more and then everyone started to leave. Mom and dad went to rest for a while, Diya had to go out with her friends.
Two weeks went by since Nitya got home and it was a roller coaster ride for all of us. She was beginning to trust us completely and whenever she called me mumma, I would just want to grab her and kiss her all over. Sahil too was being the best big brother and being mumma's boy, he didn't trouble me either. I had taken a month's work from home and my boss was at ease considering that I was not slacking off. Abhimanyu and I had been enjoying our time with each other too. Everything was going on well.
I was just done making the kids each and had put them for the afternoon nap. It was Saturday and Sahil had holiday. We had considered to home school Nitya for a year before sending her to an actual school.
" Come on Shivanya, why haven't you been eating properly for these past days? Don't think I haven't been noticing you. What is up with you?" Abhimanyu asked as soon as he saw me walk in.
" I really have no idea. I mean, I just don't feel like eating anything. The smell of food is annoying me these days." I told him honestly.
" But you have to eat Shivi or you'll end up falling sick. Tell me, what do you wish to eat and I'll order it in." He asked but I really was in no mood.
" Nothing really. All I want to do is get out of this dress and cuddle with you." I said, walking towards him and wrapped my arms around his torso.
" No, I am not falling of this. You change right now and we are going to see a doctor." He commanded but I really wasn't going anywhere.
" Nope." I replied, sitting on the bed.
" You are behaving like a stubborn cat." He said, riling me up.
" Cat? A stubborn cat? You think I am a cat?" I asked, getting up and narrowed my eyes at him.
HOW DARE HE!
" Relax woman, calm down!" He said but no sir....I wasn't giving in. He just didn't call me a cat.
I was hurling words at him when I felt everything going dizzy and I had to grab his arm to balance myself.
" Shivanya.....Shivanya, what happened?" I heard his faint voice as I started to see blackness all around me. The last thing I remember was being scooped in Abhimanyu's arms and then gone.
.......................................
As I opened my eyes, Diya was sitting next to me.
" Bhabhi....are you feeling better?" She asked me as I tried to sit down.
" Yes Diyu. What happened?" I asked her, holding my head.
" Bhaiya will tell you that. I am sending him in." She said, as she helped me sitting comfortably and then left the room. In a minute later, Abhimanyu walked in.
" What happened?" I asked him as he took a seat next to me.
" I should have guessed. After all, I had seen the symptoms earlier." He said, keeping his palm on my cheek as an alarm rang inside of me.
" What? Is....is something wr...wrong with me? Am I dying?" An unknown fear started to surround me. I didn't want to lose him and my kids. I didn't want to get away from them. I wanted more time with them. I could see Abhimanyu speaking but I couldn't hear one word coming out of his mouth.
" Shivanya.....Shivanya!" He shook me out of my trance and I looked at him.
" Never, and I mean it. Never ever even think of uttering those word from your mouth ever again. Do you understand?" Abhimanyu snapped at me and then hugged me tightly.
" So I....I am okay?" I asked him, wanting to clear my doubts.
" Yes love, you are better than okay. We are going to be parents for the third time. You are pregnant." He said with a huge smile on his face and I couldn't believe what he said.
" Oh My God.....Abhimanyu how are we going to take care of three kids?" I asked, going into shock and keeping my hands on my belly.
" Don't worry Shivi. We will do it. All I need is you by my side." He said, kissing my forehead and I kept my head on his lap.
" Are you happy?" He asked, breaking the silence we were sitting in for a while.
" Elated. But a little scared." I told him honestly.
" Don't we. I think we are great with our kids." He said and right at that moment, Sahil and Nitya made way to our room.
" Mumma.....papa!" Sahil shouted, jumping next to us and Nitya followed his lead. Truly her brother's sister.
I made Nitya sit on my lap and Abhimanyu and Sahil started to play with the car that he had got.
" Baby, I am going to comb your hair properly, alright?" I asked her and she nodded in a yes.
Sahil grabbed the comb for me and I gently stroked her hair as she giggled.
" Do you like this?" I asked, peeking at her.
" Yes mumma." Came her reply as she turned towards me and sat on my thigh. It was such a magical feeling that she trusts me after whatever has happened with this little soul.
Post that, the four of us played for a while before mom and dad came to check on me and also asked us to tell the kids about having another sibling.
" Okay kids, come here." I called the two who were busy chasing each other.
" Yes mumma?" Sahil asked.
" Would the two of you like to have another little brother or sister?" I asked them which was really very awkward for me considering that I had asked Sahil the same question just around 2 weeks back.
" Will she play with us?" Nitya asked the exact same question that Sahil had.
" Of course baby!" Abhimanyu replied, as he took a seat next to me.
" Can we meet him?" Sahil's demand was the same.
" Of course. Give me your hands, both of you." I asked and they obliged. I kept their hands on my belly.
" Say hello. Right now he or she is here. We all will meet the baby in person after 9 months together." I told them and they looked really curious.
" But mumma, why is the baby in your stomach?" Sahil asked.
" Because the baby is really tiny right now. Mumma is giving the food to baby to grow up and then it will come to us quickly." Abhimanyu explained the two of them.
" Yes mumma. I want to meet the baby." Nitya said, kissing my cheek and Sahil followed suit.
Abhimanyu and I looked at each other, smiling.
" You were right. We are good parents." I muttered to him as he joined the hug.
" Okay kids, now go and play with bua. Let mumma rest for a while." He told the kids who were only too eager to run to their bua.
" Shivanya, all you are going to do is take care of yourself now. I will handle the kids." Abhimanyu said sternly, getting up and I chuckled.
" Relax. I am pregnant, not sick." I said, getting up along with him.
" I know that but you still need to look after yourself." He instructed and I nodded like an obedient child.
" You have no idea how much I love you." He said, picking me up in his arms, bridal style as he took me by surprise.
" I love you too, so much." I said, pecking him on his lips as I wrapped my arms around his neck.
He made me sit on the terrace chair and cuddled with me.
Life was good, everything was good.
