《The Third String.》Chapter-22

The next morning as I woke up in Abhimanyu's arms, I had a stupid smile on my face but I felt content, happy and in peace.

" Good morning Mrs. Singhania." Abhimanyu said, snuggling his nose in the nape of my neck and I shivered.

" Good morning Abhimanyu. Now let me go and freshen up. I wanna go out!" I exclaimed.

He groaned.

" Can't we just be here in the room today?" He asked, giving me a look just like Sahil does when he wants something.

" No Abhimanyu and that look is not going to work on me." I said sternly.

He chuckled lightly and I walked inside the washroom after wrapping the blanket around me.

" Why do you need the blanket? I had a nice time the last night." He remarked cockily.

What the hell! Heat rushed down my cheeks.

" Why are you so shameless?" I asked, bowled.

" Why are you so shy?" He remarked while raising an eyebrow.

" I am not." I lied.

" I can see that straight face facade Shivanya. Don't try to lie in front of me. I can make out your ' I'm a lawyer face' and your ' I'm shy' face very well." He said.

" Blah...! Blah...! Blah...!" I said, mocking him.

" Is your body sore?" He asked, catching me off guard with the change of topic.

Coming to think about it, yes it was, but he does not need to know that.

" No." I said.

" Told you not to lie." He replied, getting up.

He was already in his lower.

" I am not lying." I defended myself.

" Sure." He said sarcastically.

I internally rolled my eyes.

He walked inside the washroom.

" This is not fair Abhimanyu. I was going!" I shouted but he did not reply.

Then after fifteen minutes, he walked out with a towel wrapped around his torso.

" Take a picture, it'll last longer." He said cockily.

" I was not staring." I said, looking away, embarrassed.

" You don't have to be embarrassed about it." He said as he walked towards me, tucking the loose hair strand behind my ear. I love it when he does that.

" I'm going to get an ointment for you." He said.

" No need Abhimanyu, I am seriously okay." I told him.

He kept a finger on my lips and kissed my forehead.

" I'll back back soon." He said after he got dressed and left.

Then I went to quickly take bath.

I was all done in twenty minutes and then wrapped the bathe gown around me and walked out. As soon as I walked out, Abhimanyu came into the room.

" Now lie down on the bed and let me help you." He said while shutting the door.

" Give me the medicine Abhimanyu, I can do it on my own." I insisted.

" Just relax and lay down Shivanya. Why do you need to argue on everything that I say?" He sighed.

It was such fun to irritate him but I did not push him further and do as I was told.

He gently did what he was expected to.

" Now get dressed. We are going out like you wanted to." He said, almost holding a grudge.

" Why are you pissed off?" I asked him.

" I am not pissed off." He contradicted me.

" Tell me Abhimanyu." I said.

" The company has been again slapped with a legal suit by the labour association." He said.

" Jesus Christ Abhimanyu! Why does the labour association hate you so much?" I asked, exasperated.

" I have no idea. They are doing this with the other companies too!" He exclaimed.

My cell phone rang. It was boss.

" Good morning sir." I said, picking up.

" Good morning to you too Shivanya. I need you here by next week. Many company cases are being brought up today. The same old story, labour association. Your two clients, Singhania Enterprises and Varun and Sons. have their hearing on the next Monday." He informed.

" Yes sir. Also, you and I need to have a little chat with the labour union's chairman about this whole fiasco. These constant legal cases tarnish our clients' image." I replied.

" Yes, you don't worry about that. Vedansh has already set a meeing on for next week before the trial begins. Just make sure that your clients' legal framework is all correct with all the required security certificates so that we don't have to go for out of the court settlement." Sir said.

" That'll be done sir." I committed.

" In that case, have a good day Shivanya. I'll see you soon." He replied.

" Yes sir." I said and he hung up.

" You were right. The labour association is doing this with the other companies too. They are definitely up to something big and it surely is going to harm the goodwill of your firm as well as Varun and Sons." I addressed him.

" You represent Varun and Sons too?" He asked.

" Yes, you know them?" I questioned back.

" Yes....done some business. Good people." He added.

I nodded.

" Okay, forget about this right now, let's go out." He changed the topic.

" Listen Abhimanyu....when are we returning back to Mumbai?" I asked.

" Next week on Sunday." He replied.

" No... we will have to cut this short. Your trial begins next Tuesday." I informed sadly.

" Fine." He muttered on the grounds of cursing the labour union.

I then quickly got ready in a t-shirt and shorts along with my sneakers.

" Don't sulk now. Let's go out!" I exclaimed, interlinking his hand with mine and dragged him out.

We spent all day on the beach and by evening, returned back to the hotel.

" Dinner?" Abhimanyu asked.

" Yes. I am sooo hungry!" I sang.

He chuckled.

" I'll just freshen up and then we will go." I said to him. He had already changed.

I was done soon and as I walked out, he was watching TV.

" Let's go?" I asked.

He nodded, switched the TV off and we walked out. As we entered the lift, he pushed the button for terrace.

" Abhimanyu, the restaurant in down, not up!" I exclaimed but he did not say a word, nor did he react.

" Are you going to kill me?" I asked, afraid.

" How do these stupid thoughts even come to your mind Shivanya!?" He was baffled.

" I don't know! That's how my system works I guess." I replied.

We soon were on the terrace which had fairy lights and candles all around with soft playing music and food.

" Wow! This is so good!" I exclaimed.

" Welcome to our first date Mrs. Singhania!" He said, with a smile plastered on his face.

" Not bad at all Mr. Singhania! I love it!" I said, hugging him.

" Let's eat?" He asked.

I nodded enthusiastically!

We sat down and he served me Mushroom Risotto, Bruschetta and four cheese pasta.

" Yummm." I said, taking the first bite.

"I'm glad that you liked it." He remarked while eating.

" You know, back in New York, I was solely dependent on take outs for the week because of my stupid schedule and now with all the home cooked food...I had started missing it." I said.

" This is the first time you are talking about your like in the States." He remarked.

" Yes...there is not much to tell. All I did there was study, work and make friends." I confessed honestly, going back in those days.

" You had no boyfriend?" He asked.

" Nope. I did not go there for that. Plus, I never had time for all of it. My life revolved around my work there. I did part times while at Harvard and then immediately got into a corporate law firm after university." I said, giving him a small smile.

" You do miss you life there." He said and a sudden emotion of guilt over powered him.

" Listen to me Abhimanyu... there is nothing in the world that gives me as much as half of the happiness and joy when I am with you, Sahil and all our family. New York is past and this is my present...and I love both of them." I said, honestly.

He gave me a smile and we continued eating.

" May I have this dance?" He asked, coming towards my chair.

" Gladly!" I said, placing my hand in his and we started dancing to the soft tunes.

It was so serene.

" I love you Abhimanyu." I said as I placed my head on his shoulder while dancing.

" I love you more Shivanya." He replied and placed his lips on my head.

We then walked back to our room.

" It is 9:30 PM here which means it's 9 in India. Let me talk to Sahil." I muttered to myself and video called Diya.

" Hii Bhabhi, bhai! How are you?" She asked.

" We are good Diya. What about you and everyone else in the house?" I asked.

" Everyone's good Bhabz. Sahil is sleeping in my room today." She informed and called him.

" Hii Mumma, Hii Papa!" He said, waving enthusiastically at the screen.

" Hello my baby. How are you? Have you been good to everybody?" I asked him.

" Yes mumma. Right bua?" He asked, Diya.

" Yes Bhabhi. Sahil has been a very good boy." She said.

" I am proud of you." I said.

Then he started narrating his school incidents today and then he talked to Abhimanyu for sometime.

" Sahil, baby it's 10 now. Go to bed. You have school tomorrow." I said sternly.

" Okay mumma. Good night! Good night papa!" He said, yawning.

" Good night champ! Mumma misses you." I cooed.

" I miss both of you too. Come soon." He said.

" Yes Champ! Good night!" Abhimanyu said and then we hung up.

" I miss him now!" I whined.

" I do too." He replied, sighing.

" I'm so tired!!" I exclaimed after sitting for like 10 minutes without doing anything.

" Let's go to bed." Abhimanyu said.

I nodded and went to get changed into the night suit.

Then Abhimanyu pulled me in his arms and his chin rested in my head.

" Thank you for today Abhimanyu." I said.

" Don't say thank you love. I had the best time too. " He replied and then I slipped into a nice slumber.
