《Marrying my Opposite》51- Heart does what it wants

Tanya's POV:

I had never imagined that a wedding could look this peaceful. It was usually a loud thing in my mind. So many people, loud music, talking over each other, the huge lines for the food and so much more.

The soft music that played, seemed to go along well with the sound of waves. The curtains and flowers used at the wedding were the mix of blue and white, matching the sky, water and sand of the beach.

A carpet was spread so that we could walk freely and not fall because of our dresses. Everyone looked fabulous in their attire.

The Grooms were wearing sherwani, while Raghav and Samar were wearing indo-western kurtas. Mom and Nikhil's mother wore the traditional heavy sarees, while Dad and Nikhil's father wore long kurtas. Trisha's in-laws too wore a traditional saree and kurta respectively. Sia wore a simplistic but beautiful gown while Trisha and I wore same pattern lehengas but in different colours.

Photos of wedding dresses if anyone is interested.

Everyone looked awesome but we all failed in front of the grooms. The glow of happiness they had, made them stand out from all of us.

We performed the rituals a little differently. As their was no bride, instead of the mangalsutra(an auspicious necklace), they tied bracelets made of the same auspicious beads. Some vows were changed to accommodate them.

Yes, the rituals were tweaked. Many would get angry because of religious reasons but at the end what mattered was their union. The feelings that were present while following those rituals.

At least it wasn't like my wedding where all the rituals were performed properly yet none of that was done heartfully. I don't think Raghav and I even remembered anything. We just did what was told mechanically as we broke down from inside.

I came out of my thoughts as Trisha forwarded me the flower petals to throw at the couple as they took rounds around the holy fire.

Then came the most beautiful part of the wedding. The couple exchanged garlands at the same time of the sunset. The look was breathtaking. I am sure when the photos would come out, this would be the most loved picture.

Soon the wedding ended. After giving the couple hearty congratulations and gifts, almost everyone moved out to have food.

Raghav stayed behind to talk with the photographer and the event manager. I waited for him so that we could go together.

"Did you see how nervous Rishi was today? Poor guy, he kept fumbling. This day should be marked in history. There was no cheeky comment from Rishi. I have never seen my twin look so quiet yet so pleased", Raghav commented as he came back.

"Hmmm", I hummed, still looking over the empty mandap.

"Shit!!" Raghav cursed under his breath.

"I am so sorry. I didn't even realize that you must be feeling sad. After all, this was one of your dreams", Raghav apologized, all the cheerfulness vanishing from his voice.

"Don't be. Even if I didn't get the dream wedding, I surely have received a dream husband", I smiled at him in reassurance.

Raghav still looked unsure. So I spoke again, "Seriously, I am happy with how my life is moving. Although our start wasn't good, I am truly happy with this marriage".

"That's a relief", he sighed.

"Umm...well there were many other ideas along with this one, right?" Raghav asked, looking at me expectantly.

"Yeah, there are so many. Did someone ask you for an idea? Who is getting married? I am sure I can help the couple", I responded cheerfully, even if the idea of my dream getting used by yet another couple stabbed my heart.

"I was talking about us", Raghav deadpanned, apparently tired of my misunderstanding.

"About... About us", I stammered in shock, looking at him with wide eyes.

"Yes us. Let's get marry again. Not out of convenience but with our choice", Raghav spoke with conviction.

"How can we? I mean...this idea is really enticing but can I really remarry? Will I be really able to fulfill my dream?" I asked as the bubbles of hope jumped up and down inside my body.

"Of course. You can remarry as many times as you want...as long as the marriage is with me", Raghav responded with a chuckle.

"Dammit! I was actually planning to marry a new person everytime. Like I have 10-15 ideas, so you know 10-15 husbands. Tsk tsk, you really spoiled my plans".

"Oh really?" Raghav asked, before laughing a tickle attack on me.

"Stop stop st...", I tried while laughing uncontrollably.

The innocent tickling session went out of hand as we landed too close to each other. Our faces were too close that we could feel each other's breaths and not to mention the sensations his hand on my bare waist created.

'Don't do this, Tanya'.

'You are going to ruin the friendship. You may love Raghav, but that's not the case with him'.

'You two aren't in the same pace of relationship'.

My mind kept warning me. It was right; thoroughly logical. However, the heart decided whether it wanted to heed the words or not. Heart always went with the flow; either by disregarding all the logic or like what I was going to do now. Making a small adjustment in that logical warning.

"Sorry but please don't get too angry", I whispered.

Raghav looked at me with confusion at my abrupt apology. "Huh? Why would I—"

I didn't let him finish and gave him a peck on his cheek. His hands loosened with shock and I came out of his hold. Before he had the chance to respond, I ran away to join the family.

However, I didn't miss his reaction. My heart flipped to the total 360° as I saw him standing there with a wide-eyed look, gently touching the cheek where my lips had rested.

There was a greater chance that Raghav and I might get into fight if my action wasn't welcomed. But I didn't regret it one bit. Moreover, Raghav looked stupefied, rather than angry.
