《Broken | completed》Chapter 28

After last night, Kaden got a bit more touchy with me. I mean, if it was a few months back then I'd be cringing and feeling weird about it. But now? I'm feeling okay about it. I don't feel too weird anymore and it's actually quite...nice. Currently, he had an infatuation with my, well, boobs. It must've been awkward for Matthew to see whatever the hell Kaden's as doing, but Matthew ignored it. I mean, I don't think he really understood anyway. Thank Goddess. I don't think he understands a lot of things actually, considering he's only two. You wouldn't really expect him to understand much that went on.
"Kaden, stop," I mumbled when I heard Matthew's stomach growl from the other end of the room. I look at Kaden and he pouted, which resulted in me rolling my eyes. His hand came out from under my shirt - I still found it odd that he just kept playing with them - and I jumped off of the bed. "Matthew, do you want lunch?" He looked to me and nodded his head.
We walked downstairs, and I put him up on a chair. "What daddy do?"
"He's just lying down for a bit and then he will probably go into his office and do some work," I explained, spreading some mayonnaise on the bread. Matthew loved mayonnaise and always asked for a lot. In my opinion, a lot was too much and I couldn't eat as much as Matthew did. After adding some beef, which he seemed to like, I handed him the sandwich. He didn't eat it though. He stared into space. "Matthew?"
"Vampy coming," he muttered before starting to eat his sandwich. Vampy..? Lucien! I quickly mind-linked Kaden, not wanting to leave Matthew alone - I also didn't want to disturb him from eating. Within seconds, Kaden was running down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Matthew, who is coming?" he asked.
"Vampy. He look mad," he explained.
"How long do you think we have?" Kaden asked me and I shrugged. "Right, I'll go prepare everyone. You make sure he's safe, alright? And yourself, love," he said, kissing me on my forehead before he left the kitchen.
"What he talking?"
"Uh, don't worry." Matthew continued to eat and I continued to watch over him, whilst looking around in a panic. When is he coming? I was fretting because I didn't want anything bad to happen to Matthew. Could I stop Lucien? I am his sister..maybe he will listen to me.
"He not brother," Matthew mumbled.
"What?"
"Vampy not your brother." I was shocked. Is Matthew trying to tell me that Lucien was not my brother? How does he even- oh, right.
"He is my brother," I tell him, "and yeah, he is. He's my half-brother." Matthew didn't reply from shaking his head, disagreeing with me.
"Yesterday, vampy tell his girlfwend you not."
"Girlfriend?" Lucien said he wasn't with anyone..
"Yeah, or wifey! She have baby too!" Matthew exclaims. What?
"Are you sure Matthew?" He nodded his head and ran upstairs. I was about to follow him but he came back downstairs with a few pictures.
"Look!" Matthew was showing me some pretty realistic drawings. It did look a lot like Lucien and also a woman. They were holding a little baby and looked happy.
"This doesn't mean anything," I laugh out, still not believing what Matthew was saying. But where would he get all this? Why would he lie? I don't get it. What if it's true? "Or does it?" Matthew shrugged and took the drawings from me. I went down to the basement where my dad was still being kept. Kaden didn't want to let him go and just tortured him a lot. I got use to it, I suppose. "Da- I mean.. Is Lucien really my half-brother? Did mum really have two mates?"

"Wha- Who are you?" He looked awful, and I mean really awful.
"Nova," I whispered, afraid he would yell at me..or somehow hurt me.
"Please help me, Nova," he wheezed out. "I can't take this pain, it's so awful and horrendous. I think I'm losing my-"
"You have some nerve," I growl out. "I took eight or so years of pain from a whole pack. You're only taking it from an angry Alpha for only not so long. You have such nerve. You caused me so much pain that I almost made the worst mistake of my life - running away from Kaden. I could've lost everything because of you. I want to say I hate you, but I can't. You're still my father, even if you don't want to accept it. Mum dying was not my fault and you know it. Now tell me, did mum really have two mates?"
"That's absurd, why would she?"
"Do you even remember Lucien visiting you here? Drinking your blood?"
"Isn't he some vampire?"
"Yes, and he claims he is my half-brother," I tell him.
"Your mother would never cheat on me and I certainly haven't cheated on her. There's no way you could ever have a half-sibling." With that, I walked out. I left the piece of scum, my father, where he was. I found myself caring less and less for the man, and I liked that. I hated how I still cared for him even though he caused me so much pain.
"Luna?"
"Yes?"
"I think we are at war." Probably.
"Where is Matthew? That's who Lucien wants, we need to keep him safe," I mutter, regretting the fact I let Matthew run off especially when he already told us that Lucien was coming..
"Alpha has him. Alpha requested that you go upstairs as soon as," the pack member told me. I hadn't gotten this guy's name and I felt awfully bad.
"Thank you...sorry, I didn't catch your name?"
"Bobby." Bobby was a young guy, probably early twenties. Obviously I was younger. He had, well, green hair. Pretty sure it wasn't natural. Duh, Ariella told me. Wow, haven't heard from her in a while..
"Thank you, Bobby." I quickly head upstairs and find Kaden with Matthew on the bed. "Is Lucien here yet?"
"Not yet," Kaden answered.
"He here to kill me," Matthew mumbled. "My other mummy told me." How could she have known? "My other other mummy. Before recent mummy." He remembers them - the mum at least?
"Matthew, don't worry about him. Okay? He won't get to you," I tell him.
"Or kill you," Kaden chimed in.
"Kaden," I scolded, not wanting him to strike fear into Matthew.
"Alpha! Luna!" I opened the door to some frantic knocking. Another pack member - a warrior named Jason - was at the other end of the door with a worried look.
"Yes?" I asked politely.
"King Lucien is here," he spoke, rushing the words out.
"It's time." Kaden stood up and looked to Jason. "Gather everyone, we must be ready for the attack."
"He's requested to talk first." Kaden narrowed his eyes.
"Come on, let's go," he said to Jason. I went to go with but he stopped me. "Stay with Matthew. I love you," he mumbled, kissing me on the lips.
"Bye daddy!" Matthew exclaimed, running up and hugging him.
"See you, buddy. I'll be back soon, don't worry." He kissed the top of Matthew's head and then proceeded to walk out with Jason.
Let's hope there won't be much bloodshed.

This novella is in it's first draft so if it's a bit rough around the edges that's why. I just want to get some feedback on it as well as what's working. Each chapter can be very stylistically different from each other as a means of separating the different months that each chapter takes place to better put the reader into the headspace of Arthur.
