《Broken | completed》Chapter 21

Lucien has brought my food and I enjoyed it a lot, except Kaden did steal some of it which I wasn't happy about. Well, I pretended not to be happy but I actually wasn't bothered because he's my mate and if he was hungry, I wouldn't want him to starve or anything. He also had some of my milkshake, which Lucien gagged and said we were being too coupley and gross. Kaden just grunted in reply and basically ignored him, despite me asking him to be nice.

"I'd take you to meet my dad but as you might know, he's dead. I guess the only thing here is to take you guys back, unless you wanna stay a bit and I can-"

"I think we ought to go," Kaden said, "because we need to get back to the pack."

"Oh yes, you guys run a pack," Lucien said, rolling his eyes. Kaden stood up and I stood up after him. Lucien stood up too, offering me a hug. I was hesitant, and Kaden was definitely hesitant too. But hey, he's my half-brother. I feel like I can trust him enough. I give him a quick hug, to Kaden's annoyance, and then he shows us the way out. "I'll have to knock you guys out again, by the way. Anything else before we leave you on your doorstep?"

"Yes, stop messing with my pack. Stop killing pack members. Did you know, you made a two year old an orphan?" Lucien's eyes showed regret, but he quickly masked it.

"And he saw what you guys did, through his dreams. He saw his parents die," I whisper, remembering the look on his face when he had the nightmare, "but he doesn't know they're gone," I add. It was true, we still haven't told him. How could we? It would be difficult, sure, but we have to tell him soon.

"He what?"

"And his teddy bear, he saw that. Oh, and-"

"Nova, shh," Kaden says and I roll my eyes.

"He can see what happens before it does?"

"Probably," I say, "I mean, he sees stuff and wakes up and when he gets to wherever then it's all done."

"Interesting."

"We better be off," Kaden says, narrowing his eyes at Lucien.

"You shared too much information," Kaden tells me when we were back in our room. "I didn't like that look. Matthew needs to be protected."

"I don't think Lucien would harm Matthew," I tell him, dismissing his thought. Lucien seems nice enough not to hurt a little boy. "He showed regret when he found out what he did, come on that's gotta mean something!"

"I still don't trust him, especially around you," he growls out, pulling me incredibly close to him. I felt him sniff my hair, "Nice shampoo."

"I use the same as you, idiot." He didn't reply but instead, he nuzzled his head between my neck.

"I don't know what I'd do without you," he whispered against my skin. "I feel so complete with you, and I'm loving this feeling of you beside me. Not like, uh, sexual. I mean, just with me. Like my partner, my love, my mate."

"You're so cute, Kaden," I mumble, running my hand through his hair. "You make me feel safe, you know? I haven't felt safe in a very long time," I tell him. He kisses my neck and I giggle because it tickled. Seriously, it did.

"Did that tickle?" he laughs out.

"Uh, no?" He starts kissing my neck again, and I ended up in fits of giggles. I tried pushed him away but he kept tickling me. "Kaden!"

"I love your giggle," he says and kisses my lips. "I love your eyes, they're so beautiful. I love your nose," he says, pecking my nose, "I love your lips," another peck on the lips, "I love your hair," he says, running his hands through my hair. "Wanna know what I love the most?"

"What do you love most?" I ask him.

"I love you." A blush creeps up on to my face and I bury my face on his chest, hiding away. "Aw, did I embarrass you?" he whispers in my ear.

"I don't know what love is," I mumble.

"What I feel for you is love, and I'm sure what you feel for me is love too."

"But how do I know I love you?" I ask, looking up at him.

"I guess when you just constantly think of me or something. Like, I think of you whenever I wake up and when I go to sleep. Apparently that's a sign. I can't help but get enough of you and I wanna be around you all the time. You see, you're my future."

"Everything around me was dark, my life was. Is it weird to say you're like the light to my world? I mean, you make everything bright for me. Everything was so crappy for me, and now I'm with you..everything seems better. Is that love?"

"Do you get stomach flutters? Heart skip a beat?" I nod my head. "I think you're in love," he said, not bothering to hide the huge grin that emerged on his face. "Is it possible to love you so much?"

"You fixed me," I tell him and smile.

"Fixed you?"

"I was broken when I came here but being with you, you fixed me," I pull him in for a hug, a few stray tears slipping from my eyes.

"Love, you didn't need fixing," he told me but I didn't believe him. I know I did.

"I love you," I tell him, the tears still slipping from my eyes.

"Shh, baby, don't cry." He pulls back and wipes my tears away. "Come on, love, let's go see Matthew. Alright? He'll make you all happier."

"You make me happy, I'm just emotional," I tell him but get off the bed. "We have to tell Matthew about his parents. He's got to know," I explain, "it's unfair on him."

"Love, he's two. He won't understand, yet. When he's older, we will have to tell him."

"But it isn't fair on him. He's thinking his parents are away and coming back, but they're not! It isn't fair on him, not one bit."

"You're right," he sighs. "We do have-" his eyes suddenly glazed over. When they stopped glazing over, he looked to me. "I've got to go sort something out, okay? You, um, hang with Matthew. He should be with Rhonda and her kids. I think they're out in the garden. Um, tell him if you want or wait for me? Whichever.. I've got to go." He kisses my cheek quickly and rushes off.

I make my way towards where Rhonda was, which she was indeed in the garden. When Matthew saw me, he ran over to me. "Luna!" he yelled and I bent down, waiting for him. He ran into my arms and gave me a huge hug.

"Hey, buddy. You okay?"

"Yeah! Where's mummy and daddy? I miss them," he pouts and my heart clenches. Poor boy.

"I have to tell you something," I speak quietly and he looks on with wide eyes. "It's about your mummy and daddy.."

"Are they okay? They come back now?"

"I'm so sorry, Matthew," I mumble, "they're not coming back. They're, uh, up with the angels. Matthew, I'm so sorry, but they're looking over you okay?" I didn't know whether or not he would understand what I meant, but my thought was answered when he started tearing up.

"They dead?" I nod my head and pull him towards me.

"I'm so sorry," I whisper as he cries into my arms.
