《Kidnapped (Book 1)》The Search

Robbins stared down at the ocean as the helicopter flew over the ocean. She watched as thousands of waves formed and smashed into each other. It seems hard to believe that most of the world is in fact, water. The stench of salt water filled her nose and made her eyes water. All she saw was water, water, and more water. The ocean seemed to go to infinity in every direction right now and felt like land would never come. It would still be several more hours until they even got to the Bahamas and then they would have to figure out where Kyle was in the Bahamas.
There were many islands and picking the right one was part of the battle on locating Kyle. She felt so bad for Andrew, who she believed was innocent. Kyle seemed like the guy who would do that to get what he wanted. Robbins hadn't heard from Gary recently which worried her. Would he call again? Was he telling the truth? Where was Kyle even at? Could Gary be helping Kyle? Should Robbins even trust what Gary had to say? At this point, she had to believe he was telling the truth since there were no traces of Kyle anywhere.
She felt herself start to sweat and become stressed. They couldn't reach the Bahamas soon enough. She then began to think of Kyle's acting all those years. From the time she dated him to the time the girls started to go missing. Everything was an act, he never cared about anyone, not even his so-called best friend, Matt, who he killed. He probably never even liked her when they were dating. He was an act, everything was an act.
He seemed so normal, he looked normal, nothing about him gave any indication that he wasn't who he acted as. He seemed like an ordinary guy who an everyday life. She wondered if there were any signs that she missed that could have told her this was happening. Could Robbins have saved Matt and Kelly sooner? She frowned at her unanswered questions that were popping into her mind. She couldn't worry about the what-ifs at the moment, all she needed to do was find Kyle.
"Have we contacted both of girl's parents yet? I'm sure as soon as we get them, they will want to be with there families." Robbins asked getting her mind away from what she may have been able to do.
"Um, we have for Brooke but Kelly doesn't really have family to contact. She has an aunt and uncle that we have been trying to reach but the rest of her family is dead." A man answered.
"Matt was her father. You think she knows?" She asked the man.
"I'm sure she does. I can't see Kyle keeping that from her." The man replied.
"Poor girl, she must be in a terrible state. Knowing her father is dead and maybe even her mother. I'm not sure that Kyle would tell her about that unless he had too."
"Well, hopefully, she will have her aunt and uncle." The man said.
Robbins nodded hopefully but the truth was that an aunt or uncle wasn't the same as a mom and dad. Kelly wouldn't be the same after this. Robbins had talked to the FBI and they said that they would help track down Kyle. There were many islands in the Bahamas and once Kyle knew that he was being looked for, he would flee. The Colorado police and the FBI searching for Kyle, there was a good chance he would be found. So many emotions were running in Robbins body. She knew that she needed to save Matt's daughter for him because he couldn't. She knew she had to try and save Andrew because he can't help himself. Robbins couldn't even imagine what was running in Kelly's mind and how she was feeling. She couldn't imagine being kidnapped by someone who was so close to her.

Stopping Robbins thought, the pilot turned and said, "We're here." It was night time in the Bahamas which was the best since Kyle wouldn't even see them coming. Robbins smiled at the adventure that was coming up and her adrenaline was pumping already, she could wait for the helicopter to get to the ground. Before she knew it, she was in the local police station of Atlanta, trying to get as much help as possible.
"How is my search coming? Have the police found anything?" Robbins asked as she stood in front of many individuals in the local police meeting room.
"One officer said he had seen them take off in a speedboat right here." An officer said pointing on the map to where Kyle and Marcus were last seen. "Oh just great! They could be anywhere!" Robbins yelled in frustration.
Officer Dole was a friend of Robbins that came with her from Colorado. He leaned over to her and whispered,"Christi, maybe you should go lay down for a little bit, you need to relax. When was the last time you slept?"
"Two days but that doesn't matter. I will not sleep until these bastards are caught! We are so close, Jake, we just have to keep looking and find them." She said.
"I know, and trust me, we will find them." He said comfortingly.
"Thanks." She whispered.
She stared at many papers at once of all the islands in the Bahamas. There were over seven hundred islands.
"I want all the small islands checked first! We'll worry about the larger, more populated islands later! He will want to be isolated and not risk getting caught. It can't be too far from the mainland though because he needs supplies. " Robbins demanded. After an hour of splitting officers up, everyone started on their searches.
"Remember I want to be the first notified if you find them!" Robbins shouted as everyone started to leave. She wasn't going to search until everyone left and was already searching. Officer Dole stayed with her. There were many small islands that still weren't being searched because of the lack of officers. Robbins' cell phone rang and she picked it up.
"Officer Robbins." She answered.
"Ah, hello, Officer Robbins." A familiar voice said.
"Gary?" She asked.
"The one and only, Love." He said. She could hear that he was smirking when he said that.
"What do you want? I'm very busy." She snarled, not in the mood for his games.
"I want to help." He replied.
"Why?"
"My own reasons, don't worry about it. Plus I like an even playing field for both teams." He laughed.
"Okay, what?" She asked.
"I'll narrow your search some. Since you are on the Grand Bahamas Island, I'll tell you that from where you are Kyle and Marcus are west of Nassau so they are located closer to Europe and farther from Cuba." He said calmly.
"Are they directly west from Nassau?" She asked, trying to get as much information from him as possible.
"No they aren't, I would never make it that easy on you. All I'm saying is that they are closer to Europe and passed more of the major islands." He replied quickly.

"You know where they are, don't you?" She asked unemotionally.
"Yes, Sweetheart." He laughed away because he had something I needed desperately.
"Why won't you tell me?" She questioned.
Robbins looked over to Officer Dole and he wrote on a piece of paper, "Prepaid phone. No trace."
"I'm not a snitch; I've got to give my guys a chance. As I said before, I like an even playing field." He laughed.
"Are you working with them too?" She asked.
"I've got to go, goodbye Christi." He said.
"Wait-" The line was dead.
She slammed shut her phone and said, "Dole, call off all search parties that are close to Cuba. Gary said that Kyle and Marcus were closer to Europe than Cuba. Send everyone that way."
Officer Dole got up from his chair and started to make calls with his phone. As he was about to leave the room, Robbins said, "And Dole, get us a boat, a fast boat."
Soon, Robbins and Dole made their way out to the boat that was full of gas and ready for a day worth of searching. Robbins was sick of being a step behind Kyle and she knew this was the day that they would find them. She was ready for this and so was Dole. He pulled out of the docks and speed off. Robbins couldn't wait to leave this place even though she had just gotten here. She was under so much stress since she entered the Bahamas.
"Where should we start looking?" Officer Dole asked.
"Let's try these few islands slightly north-west of us." She suggested.
The boat turned and they started to head north-west. Robbins felt herself feel somewhat sea sick but she held down the sickness. She did like the ocean scene around her, the crystal blue and the sun reflecting off of the water. Trying to keep her mind away from work, Robbins searched the never-ending ocean for dolphins. She managed to see a couple as the journey continued.
Robbins looked down at the ocean to see the bottom of the ocean! The water was so clear and light that she was able to see the bottom of the ocean. If she wasn't working, she might want to just drive around in the boat forever but she saw an island in the distance and it was the first destination to check. They got closer and closer until she could see the shore of the beach.
"You ready?" Office Dole asked.
She nodded and they reached land. Robbins threw the anchor into the water to keep the boat from moving. Both Robbins and Dole pulled out their guns and step onto the island. Surely, she wouldn't get lucky enough to find Kyle the first island but she couldn't be sure he wasn't here. She had to be prepared.
"You go left and I'll go right. We'll meet at the opposite end of the island and work our way in the middle together. Use your walkie talkie if you spot them." Robbins planned.
Dole nodded and they went their separate ways. Robbins started to walk and felt suddenly scared and nervous that Kyle and Marcus would actually be there and she would end up using her gun on them. She jumped at every sound and twig breaking and feared that someone was always watching her. She felt herself walking faster and faster until she forced herself to walk slower.
The beach soon ended and Robbins had to climb and step over branches as she walked. She was probably going to be sore from this, especially if she had to do this all day. Then she heard footsteps coming her way. She stopped dead in her tracks and listened for the footsteps. Crunch, crunch, crunch. It was definitely a person that was stepping on leaves and over branches. Robbins raised her gun and waited for the person to show their face. As soon as she saw a hand push away a bush that was between them, she shouted, "Freeze!"
"Whoa, whoa calm down, it's just me Christi." A familiar voice said.
Once the bushes were pushed aside, she saw Dole standing in front of her.
"God, you scare me. I thought that I might have to use this gun on you." She chuckled slightly.
"I thought the same thing about you." He said smiling at her.
"Let's just head through the middle and get going. I don't think anyone is here, it's a small island." She announced. They started walking back except that branches and bushes were ten times worst and it took twice as long to get back to the boat. It took about an hour before they got back to the boat.
"Why couldn't they have been on the first island we went too?" Robbins complained as they got back into the boat to head to the next island.
"That would be too easy for us." Dole replied smiled at her.
What Robbins didn't know was that Dole had a crush on her and he's liked her for a while now. As much as Dole hated himself, he could relate to Kyle. Seeing someone all the time and knowing that they don't feel the same way that you feel is an awful thing to experience. Now, Dole wouldn't go all the way to kidnap Robbins and force her to love him but Kyle wasn't such a different guy from Dole, he knew what rejection was like. He ignored his heartbroken feelings as the boat started. Robbins drove off to the next island where hopefully, Kyle and Marcus would be so that all of this could end.

The carnomancer
Jackson was but a normal american just looking to get by in life. unfortunately for him life had other plans as a terrorist bombing took place in the air port in london where he was getting off at. The resulting explosion killed him instantly, and now he has been reincarnated into the world of Rokna. In this new world of magic, monsters, and conflict join him under his new identity Adimir freelancer the adventurer half-elf as he seeks a way to live out an exciting life of researching new and creative ways of combining magic and science. But with a tyrannical empire beginning to prepare for a bloody war the signs of turmoil begin to loom on the horizon. Adimir will face numerous challenges. Both challenges to those native to this world, and against other people have come from earth. Author's comment: I'll be uprfont with you on the entire war thing that the description hints at. Yes it will eventually happen, and many of the strange and out of place things in the beginning will tie into that. Not that it will be explained until much later in the novel. In fact the first 100 or 200 chapters will be spent on the main character growing stronger as an adventurer before the entire war even begins to start rearing its ugly head. So for those eager for the war to kick off sorry, but there won't be a big explosive war so early. At least not with the empire (although if you read carefully you may be able to pick up signs of how close the war is with what happens in the story). But the wait (I hope) will be worth it as it will be diving into some of the stuff a otherworlder in a significant position of power could do with the right knowledge. With that little warning over with I hope you enjoy this novel of mine. Its my first actual attempt at writing a story for people to read so please keep that in mind. If you have any criticism please tell me. I'd love to read them and will be using them to help me in improving my writing quality as time goes on. Experience is the best teacher after all.
