《Kidnapped (Book 1)》The Island

When we pulled up to the island, I was disappointed to find that besides the large beach house, the rest of the island consisted of nothing but trees. I couldn't see the back of the island but I'm sure that it's more of the woods. Kyle wouldn't pick an island with other people on it to find out about his secrets. The trip was about an hour and a half from the main land so people probably didn't come out here. The boat pulled up next to a dock and Kyle jumped out and tied the boat to the dock. Marcus and Brooke got off the boat, leaving Kyle and I. He offered his hand out to me and I accepted it as I got out of the boat.
"How did you find this place?" I asked him.
He glanced at me in surprise but then said, "I have some connections."
We all walked across the sandy white beach to the house. The sun was beating down on us, making a drip of sweat run down my face. The door was already unlocked to the house, giving me a little bit of hope that someone may live here. There was a slim chance that would happen but the world was full of surprises. As soon as we walked inside, the house seemed to get ten times bigger. From the outside, it didn't look as big as what the inside really was. The living room was to my left which was opened up to the kitchen on my right.
The open floor plan really completed the house and made it more comfortable. There were high, white ceilings so erase the feeling of being trapped. The front of the house mostly consisted of windows rather than walls. Natural lighting filled the house, requiring no use of the lights in the house. Dead plants were scattered around the house, probably dead from lack of water. Despite being unused until now, the house was actually clean and well unkept.
"Girls, fill free to go wherever, I mean it's not like you have anywhere to escape to. I have to make a phone call, I'll be back." Kyle announced.
Kyle left the room with Marcus following behind him. Instead of roaming through the house, I decided to go out to the beach. I had been locked up in a cellar so it felt nice to be out in the open. I slipped off my shoes and walked out onto the beach. The sand was hot at first but my feet got used to the temperature. The sand tickled the bottoms of my feet but the sand felt good in between my toes. I tried to pretend I was getting a pedicure done instead of being held here against my will.

I sat down at the edge of the water, the sand cushioning me. I placed my feet in the path of the water, the wet sand sticking to my feet. When the first wave of water crashed into my feet, I was startled at how warm the water felt. My feet left imprints in the wet sand as the water retreated back. I longed to see my friends again, wishing they could be here with me.
I had seen Maddie when Marcus had first arrived which told me she was at least alive. Though, Kyle abandoned all those girls down there in the cellar so who knows if the police found them or if they were slowly dying. I hadn't seen Ethan since the kidnapping. I prayed Kyle didn't kill him and I was too scared to ask Kyle. I just missed my friends so much. They were all I had now since my parents were dead.
I closed my eyes and bowed my head as I prayed to God that someone would save me. Despite what Kyle has done, I don't wish death upon him the more time that I've had to think. I just want him to be punished for what he has done. I prayed that the Kyle I once knew was still inside him deep down and that he could be saved. I clenched a handful of sand until the pain from my nails was unbearable. The front door opened and I didn't have to turn around to know it was Kyle. I tried my best to relax my body, not giving him any signs that I was upset and angry.
"Hey, Kelly." Kyle said calmly as he plopped himself next to me in the sand.
"Hi." I said in my normal tone.
We remained quiet for a few minutes and I had to admit I loved the silence. I stared off into the distance, watching the waves crash and reform. I glanced over at him to see that he was staring off into the distance too. If only I could know what he was thinking right now. Then again, did I really want to be inside Kyle's mind? I'd find some scary, screwed up ideas. I decided to be the first one to break the silence.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked.
"Yes, anything." He replied, giving me his full attention.
"Do you really care about me?" I asked.
"Of course, I do." He answered without any hesitation.
He was truly screwed up in the head. How could he say that and mean it after everything he's done to me? He placed his hand on top of mine. I made sure not to flinch at his touch and pretended that it didn't bother me.

"Why do you care about me?" I whispered.
"Because from the day I met you, I knew you were special. I'm in love with you and there is nothing you can do to change that." He said giving me a genuine smile.
I almost dropped my mouth open in shock but I caught myself from doing that. He had just said he loved me. That was something really powerful to say. Even though I felt nothing for him, I still let out a small smiled. I looked down at the sand with my smile not wanting to make eye contact. His fingers touch my cheek and slowly moved down to my chin. He lifted my chin up so that I was looking into his eyes. He leaned over to me and my heart started to race. His lips pressed up against mine and I had no choice but to kiss him back, not wanting to anger him by pulling away.
This was part of my plan and I had to play the part. He ran his fingers through my hair and I wrapped my arms around his neck. His hands trailed down my back as he held me around my waist. I still couldn't believe that I was doing this. I let him be the one to pull away instead of me. Still holding me, he stared at me with suspicion. I didn't blame him either because of my failed attempts of escaping. Any logical person would suspect that I was trying to fool him. I just needed him to move past that suspicion. His eyes scanned my face as if trying to see any bit of deceitfulness in me.
He smiled gently at me and said, "What are you up to? If you're trying to trick me, it won't work."
"I've realized that you do care about me and that you won't hurt me. After hearing you say that you love me, I figured that I should just move on and try to move on with our future." I said, letting the lie roll off my tongue so easily.
He leaned in closer to my face and whispered, "Let me make one thing clear. If you are trying something, anything at all, you will pay and trust me, you won't enjoy it."
"Thanks for the warning but I won't be needing it. I'm moving on from the past." I said.
He continued to stare at me, debating whether to believe me or not until Marcus called for him inside the house. He got to his feet and said, "Come on." He held his hand out for help and I grasped his hand in mine. We walked back to the house together in silence. Once we were inside, I saw Marcus pacing inside the living room while Brooke sat on the couch watching as he moved throughout the room.
"What's up?" Kyle asked brushing the sand off of his feet before he entered.
"Gary called back again and said that he had changed his mind. He's coming tomorrow morning." Marcus said, clearing not happy about it.
"I told you that we can trust him." Kyle replied, clearly unamused by Marcus' lack of trust.
"I just have a bad feeling about him." Marcus said.
Kyle nodded but completely ignored Marcus' concerns. A possible advantage was slowly making its way to the surface. Marcus and Kyle fighting could really help me with my plan. Kyle grabbed me by the arm and lead me back to the bedroom. It was getting darker out and it had been a long day of traveling. My body screamed for sleep but I knew I would have trouble sleeping, especially with Kyle by my side.
Kyle walked over to the bed and pulled back the silk covers. I watched as he grabbed a tiny pillow and threw it to the ground. One by one, he tossed the small pillows off the bed until there were only two regular pillows left. He gestured for me to come over to the bed and I did without showing any fear. I didn't have any pajamas so I'd have to sleep in my regular clothes.
I climbed into bed and slipped the covers over me, keep my back towards Kyle. He grabbed my shoulder and pushed it down so that I would have to turn. I turned so that I was facing him. He had taken his shirt off to sleep which made me even more uncomfortable but that was probably his plan. He was trying to see if I was faking about my feelings towards him. Kyle was extremely smart and I had to give him credit for that. He brushed my fallen hair out of my face and leaned over and he gently kissed me on the forehead.
"Good night." He whispered.
He turned and laid on his back with his hands resting behind his head. I scooted closer to him and I wrapped my arms around him, laying my head on his chest. His body tensed up in surprise but then relaxed. His arms wrap tightly around me, his warm body consuming me. I tried to pretend that it wasn't Kyle that I was laying with but anyone else. It felt like hours before I finally felt myself drift off to sleep, letting the horrors of my life disappear.

It was a life without regret. My parents were in good health, and I wasn’t homey enough for me to combine my studies and part-time jobs. I like fantasy, martial arts, games, fiction movies, cartoons… I’m a normal high school student who likes these things. That was certainly true until ten years ago. This is not the earth. A fantasy world dominated by powerful people. Savage utopia. It is a world where you can take anything with you if you have physical strength.
