《Kidnapped (Book 1)》The First Time Meeting

Robbins waited patiently as the helicopter landed across the street from the abandoned house in a grassy field. The house had become yet another crime scene for the police to investigate. Robbins already sent a few police officers to the Bahamas to catch Kyle and Marcus if possible. She knew it was a long shot and that her officers would beat Kyle to the Bahamas but she had to try. Robbins was already delayed on getting to the Bahamas due to Matt's death and the new crime scene opening up. She wished that she could just teleport there so she could start looking for Kyle and Marcus.
She quickly ran over to the helicopter, her long brown hair blowing in the wind, making it hard to see where she was going. She hopped in the helicopter where several other police officers joined her. She gave a signal to the pilot and he took off flying, rocking the passengers as it took off.
Robbins had already notified the Bahamas police department on every island but Robbins had a feeling they would go to the main island as their first stop. As they flew, Robbins looked over her reports, looking for anything that could be a mistake or an indication of where they were going and what their plans were.
"Did you find anything?" Her co-worker asked.
Sadly, she shook her head. Kyle was a police officer so it would make sense that he would be hard to catch. He knew everything that Robbins was doing and would try and avoid her attempts at catching him. Kyle was a smart man, too smart for his own good. Catching him seemed impossible but she wouldn't give up. Robbins remembered when Kyle and she used to date when they both started working together. She knew it had been a bad idea but Kyle had a charm to him that no one else had that she had met. When Robbins first met Kyle, nothing seemed wrong with him. She would have never guessed that he was capable of murder and kidnapping. He seemed like a normal person. He even brought her a flower on their first date. She could remember that date clearly.
The doorbell rang, causing Robbins to jump off the couch and rush to the front door. She glanced in the mirror on the wall by the door, running her fingers through her long, brown hair. She straightened up her dress and gave herself one last look in the mirror. Nerves were getting the best of her and it felt like little butterflies were fluttering in her stomach. She stared at the door for a few seconds before slowly opening the door. Standing in the doorway, stood Kyle smiling with his big, bright smile that showed off his perfectly white teeth.
Robbins stared into his comforting blue eyes, knowing that going on a date with him wouldn't be a mistake. Robbins never had any luck with guys so she hoped Kyle would be different. She couldn't help but continue to admire him. He was wearing long black dress pants and a gray long sleeved shirt. She had to admit he looked rather handsome.
"Hello." She greeted.
"Good evening, Christi." He said, smiling.
She couldn't help but smile along with him. His smile was just too contagious. He pulled a single red rose out from behind his back and handed her the rose. She couldn't help but blush the same color as the rose as she accepted the kind gesture. She held the rose against her chest, taking a whiff of the sweet smell.

"Please, come in." She said, opening the door more so he could enter.
Robbins told Kyle to sit down and make himself comfortable. She filled up a small vase and placed the rose inside of it, cherishing the first flower a man had ever gave her. The sweet smell of dinner cooking filled the house. The rest of the night went by in a blink of an eye. Kyle was a complete gentleman and seemed fully aware of every word she spoke.
When the time came for him to leave, he leaned over and placed a quick peck on Robbins' lips before leaving. Once she shut the door, a whole new world of emotions swirled inside of her. Several minutes later, Kyle texted her setting up another date with her. She had never felt this way for any guy this quickly before. Kyle was definitely different for sure.
Robbins thought he was the one for her and they did date for several months. Those months were wonderful until he started to become distant and started to see her less and less. She noticed that he started hanging out with Matt and his family more than her. At first, she was jealous but then realized it just wasn't meant to be. She never thought of him hanging out more with Matt until now. That had to be when his obsession with Kelly began. Robbins broke up with him and sadly, it seemed like he didn't even care. They continued to work together as if nothing happened between them. Kyle was an expert on hiding his feeling because she could never tell. It was never weird between them though she tried not to work with him as much, knowing it may be weird for her.
The more she thought about it, most killers actually have a charming, deceptive side to them. They can make people believe their lives and believe that they are normal, when in fact they are deadly. Robbins scolded herself for not realizing anything sooner, despite there being no evidence to conclude Kyle being a killer. It still made her shiver, knowing that they had been so close before and that all the times they kiss, he could have easily killed her right then and there.
"Have we tried calling Kyle's cell phone?" Robbins asked, hoping for anything to work.
"We found his personal phone left at home. He's most likely using a prepaid phone so he can't be tracked." Someone answered.
"What about his family?" She asked.
When they were dating, Kyle never talked about his family. All he said was that it was a sore topic for him and that he would discuss it when he felt comfortable enough. She figured that he would tell her when he was ready and never rushed the topic. She wasn't one to judge family life since she got in a huge fight with her parents about her becoming a police officer. They didn't want her working in a dangerous field. That's where she reminded them that it wasn't their decision. She hasn't spoken to them in years. That fight wasn't the only thing that led to this disownment, but it was a major cause of it.
"That's where things get interesting. So his dad died from cancer a few years ago which isn't that caught my eye. His step-brother, Andrew, was sent to prison at the age of 13 because he killed his mom and Kyle's step-mom at the time. Kyle was also stabbed during the incident. In the police reports, it says Andrew denied everything and continued to say Kyle had killed his mom and had set him up. Andrew was charged with the murder of his mom since all the evidence pointed to him. The murder weapon had his fingerprints on it and everything." Another person answered.

"If Andrew was 13, shouldn't he have had the option for parole?" Robbins asked.
"It says that Andrew got into several fights over the years so parole was denied." The officer replied.
"Where is Andrew now?" She asked, flipped through the copy of Andrew's file.
"In a maximum security prison in Tennessee." The officer answered.
"Why so far from Colorado?" She asked.
"Because Kyle demanded that Andrew needed to be shipped as far away as possible. I guess Tennessee had an opening."
"We are stopping there. I need to speak to him." Robbins demanded.
She was hoping Andrew may have some insight on who Kyle was and possibly his plans. Anything that Andrew could help with could lead to the capture of Kyle. Hopefully, this wouldn't be a wasted trip and that something useful would come out of this. She needed to know the real Kyle Olive and not the lie that he has made everyone, including Robbins, believe.
Before she knew it, she was landing in Tennessee, her nerves eating at her insides. She didn't know what to expect Andrew to say to her. Would he even agree to see her? She walked into the maximum security prison, hating when she had to enter places like this. The most deadly and feared men in Tennessee were located all in one building.
After removing her weapon and walking through the metal detector, she was finally about to meet Andrew. Robbins sat quietly in an isolated room, consisting of two plastic chairs and a table in between the chairs. Normally, the visitors were allowed to see the prisoner behind bars but since Robbins was a police officer, the warden made an exception. Minutes later, the metal door opened slowly, revealing two guards, each walking on each side of Andrew.
He was wearing an orange jumpsuit that had dirt stains in several places. Andrew had short, black hair that was cut unevenly, most likely being cut by himself. A long scar ran across his cheek and part of a black tattoo ran up the base of his neck. Andrew had an unreadable expression on his face as he was sat down in front of Robbins. He was still handcuffed at the wrists and ankles as instructed by the warden. The guards stood by the door, their hands resting near their guns.
"Can I please talk with Mr. Olive alone? We won't be having any problems here." Robbins asked, hoping to gain some trust from Andrew.
It was weird calling him Mr. Olive because Kyle and Andrew weren't blood-related, yet they so close in age. Andrew was twenty-three years old and Kyle was twenty-one. Andrew had taken the last name Olive when his mom married Kyle's dad. That was why their last names were the same. Robbins was thankful that they weren't real brothers because seeing someone who looked like Kyle would bring up bad memories. She stared into Andrew's hazel eyes, thankful that no resemblance of Kyle was evident. The two guards stepped outside the door, telling her to call if she needed help.
"Hello Andrew, how are you?" She asked politely.
"What the hell do you want? Who are you?" He snapped, catching her off guard.
He didn't seem like the aggressive type, but looks can be deceiving. Andrew had gotten in several fights over the years but the person who caused the fights were unknown. She understood that being in jail would make someone angry, especially if they were given a life sentence. Andrew's lips were pale as he pressed them tightly together. His eyes crinkled in disgust as he stared at her, most likely hating her uniform that she was wearing. He knew she was a police officer.
"I'm Detective Robbins. I'm from Colorado and I need to talk to you about," She was cut before she could finish her sentence.
"It's about my step brother isn't it?" He snarled, pure disgust rolling off his tongue as he spoke.
"How'd you know?" Robbins asked.
"Cuz you're from Colorado and so is he. I've been waiting for the day that you pathetic cops came talking to me." He said.
"I need to know anything I can about him. In police reports, you claimed that Kyle set you up for murder."
"Yeah, cuz he did. He framed me for killin' my mom. The sick bastard even stabbed himself to put me away. Something is seriously wrong with him. What'd he do now?" He asked.
"He's on the run from police and is charged with several counts of murder and kidnapping." Robbins said.
He started to laugh uncontrollably as he said, "Murder! Kidnap! Sounds just like my step-bro!"
"This is no laughing matter, Andrew." Robbins snapped, angered that he thought this was funny. There were two girls' lives on the line and he was laughing about it.
"But it is to me. If he was put away when we were younger for murder, then you and I both would never be here. This just shows that our law enforcement is a joke." He snorted.
"Andrew, I understand you're upset but-" Robbins said.
"Upset is an understatement. If the police would have heard me out all those years ago, all those murdered people would be alive today. No one believed me when I said he set me up. I lost my own mother and my freedom in the same day. So yes, I'm pissed off but I have a damn good reason to be." Andrew yelled, his fists clenched tightly.
"I believe you. I believe Kyle murdered your mom. Help me catch him and I'll try to find a way to show that Kyle was the murderer, not you." Robbins said.
Andrew remained quiet for a moment, thinking about what she said. He shook his head slowly as if thinking about the past. Robbins stared into his eyes, seeing the hurt in them. She could see the scared little boy that had been arrested for murder all those years ago.
"He's messed up in the head. There's nothin' that I can tell ya that would help. I have no idea what he is doing or plans to do. All I knew is he is one messed up son of a bitch. He ruined my life. If I ever saw him again, I'd have a real reason to be in prison." He said, darkness in his eyes.
"Why is that?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
"I'd kill'em with my bare hands. It's been eight years of being locked up like an animal for something I didn't do." He snarled.
"Once we catch him, he will be in jail." Robbins assured him.
"That's not soon enough. Please get him to confess to my mother's murder. I hate it in here. I wasn't always this guy. I didn't get into fights or had to hide emotions. I have to pretend I'm strong here when in reality, I'm weak. I don't belong here with these horrible men." Andrew spoke, tears filling in his eyes.
"I'm going to get you out of here. You have my word. You don't deserve this life, no one does." Robbins said, grabbing his hand and holding it tightly.
Andrew wasn't a terrible person. He had to act tough and emotionless in prison because of the men he was around. Prison changed him into the person he never wanted to become. Robbins stood up and motioned for the guards to come back in and take Andrew. She nodded in his direction, reassuring him that she would do everything in her power to help him. Once he was gone, she headed back outside to the helicopter. Despite, having little to go on besides the Bahamas, Robbins was more motivated to find Kyle than ever before. Robbins already knew Kyle was messed up in the head, but after talking with Andrew, she had even more evidence to conclude that he needed to be caught. She would stop at nothing until that happened, not only for Kelly and Brooke but for Andrew as well.
