《Kidnapped (Book 1)》Flashback

Kyle was very pleased with how everything was working out. He knew his plane idea was good and once they were officially in the Bahamas, the police couldn't do shit to him and Marcus. Kyle felt his phone ring from his pocket. Kyle got a disposable phone with minutes so the phone could never be traced. Kyle was expecting a call from an acquaintance. He had set up Kyle a free one-way entrance to the Bahamas without being seen by police there. He picked up his phone and said, "Hello."

"Hello, Kyle, whatcha doing?" The man said in a British accent.

"Ah, hello Gary, my friend. We got to the place and are heading for the Bahamas." Kyle replied.

He had met Kyle a while ago when he was arrested for the same reasons as Kyle. Gary sometimes even seemed jealous of Kyle. He was just using Gary to get a perfect escape and then he would never talk to Gary again. That's how the world works, it's all about connections.

"Everything is going well and I have the perfect place for you to land in the Bahamas, beautiful place." He said to Kyle who put the plane on autopilot so he wouldn't have to fly anymore. He had studied how to fly a plane and it kept that Marcus actually had flown a plane before.

"Great, we're on our way now. Thank you for helping us out here." Kyle said acting like he wanted to talk to Gary when in reality, he couldn't care less.

"I love helping people so here I am." Gary said laughing.

Kyle didn't understand what was so funny but he laughed along with him. Maybe it was because Gary was a killer and helping was the opposite of what he normally does.

"I'll call you back when we're almost there." Kyle said and Gary continued to laugh.

Gary was such a freak show; Kyle hoped that he would never be as crazy as him. He hung up the phone and placed it back in his pocket. He was furious that Kelly had tried to escape again and actually managed to get him on the ground this time. She was getting better and if Marcus hadn't come outside she may have gotten away or made it further than she did. He put his feet up on the control panel making sure not to hit anything and glance at his friend.

"This is it; all we have to do it wait." Kyle finally said to break the silence.

"Yes it is but will there be any surprises there?" Marcus asked.

"I hope not." Kyle replied.

"I have a feeling that there will be some though." He said frowning.

Kyle said nothing to his friend's suspicion. Kyle did have his own suspicions though. His friend seemed different from how he remembered him. Jail may have changed him because he used to be more fun and reckless. He must be terrified of going back to jail or something. Kyle just hoped that Marcus wouldn't do anything stupid to betray their friendship.

Kyle got up from his chair and went to check on the girls while Marcus sat in silence. He slowly walked back to where the girls were tied up. Both girls were staring out the windows but then stared at him once he entered.

"Hello." Kyle said.

He didn't expect a greeting, especially from Kelly. She hated him and he knew that. He did kill her father right in front of her but Kyle didn't care. He had no feelings anymore. He didn't care that Matt was dead or that he killed him. He didn't care that Kelly hated him. He didn't care that he was risking everything here and could go to jail. He didn't care that Marcus was different. He just didn't care. Everything would eventually work out in the long run.

Yes, he was somewhat scared of being caught and thrown in jail but he would rather die than go to jail so it was a win-win situation for him. He either was free forever, getting away with the crime of the century, or he would end up dead. He would never go to jail, ever.

Kyle stared at the girls with silence. He said nothing more to them and wasn't planning on talking. He was getting more and more agitated with Kelly and that she almost got away. If she got away, his plan would be ruined and he wouldn't have committed the crime of the century.

"Kyle, please, when will this end?" Kelly asked.

He was already mad enough and her questions didn't help. He slapped her across the face and once his hand hit her, he regretted it. He didn't even think before he hit her, it just came out of him involuntarily. Her cheek turned red and tears filled in her eyes but she didn't cry. She looked shocked most of all, even more than pain. He had never hit her before, so this surprised both of them. He wondered where hitting her came from. Sure, he was mad at her but not mad enough to hit her.

He was becoming like his stepmom. When he was little, his stepmom would always smack him as hard as she could across the face if he was bad and sometimes even when he did nothing wrong. All it took was one wrong look and he was hit. She was very abusive to him, unlike her biological son who she never laid a finger on. She hated Kyle with every amount of energy she had. He remembered one significant day of his tragic childhood.

It was a Tuesday night and Kyle sat alone, eating dinner as he usually did. He heard his laughable excuse of a step mom coming into the kitchen. She has a grim look on her face as usual but something was different about this day than any other. It was a day Kyle had been planning for months. He was thirteen at the time and his step mom came over to him and grabbed his wrist so tightly that his wrists turned red.

She dragged him to the basement door and pushed him down the stairs, two at a time. Kyle knew she would do this because she did it ever night when his father was working. The basement was dark and freezing as his bare feet were dragged across the cement floor. He was thrown down to the floor like she always did to him. Within seconds, he felt the wrath of her fist slamming into his stomach. She tried to always aim at places that could be covered up by clothes, that way his father wouldn't get suspicious, not that he was ever home to see Kyle. This time her aim hit him in the nose, causing his nose to start gushing bright red blood.

Everything was going right as planned as she picked Kyle up and yelled, "You nasty little brat! I can't wait until you're finally gone! I hope you go to hell, you stupid excuse for a human."

She gave him a few more punches in the stomach, nothing that he couldn't handle. The pain didn't seem to bother Kyle anymore. When she was finished with the assault, she went over to her sewing machine as she usually did after beating him, pretending nothing had happened. Blood continued to run down Kyle's face as he smirked at his step-mother's back. Blood entered his mouth which didn't disgust him, but he simply embraced the metallic taste in his mouth.

What his step-mother didn't know was that earlier before his beating, Kyle had slipped on a pair of latex gloves and grabbed his step-brother's used knife from dinner. He hid the knife in one of the boxes that cluttered the basement. He knew it would be easy to reach and his step-mom wouldn't ever find it. Sure, he could have killed his step-mother before his beating but why ruin tradition? Along with the knife, Kyle hid an extra pair of latex gloves with it, making sure he wouldn't have to cross-contaminate the fingerprints on the knife.

Being as quiet as a mouse, Kyle slipped on the pair of gloves and grabbed the knife, letting the cold metal seep through the gloves to his skin. He had never felt so powerful before, that's until he held the knife in his hand, ready to change his life forever. Kyle turned to his step-mom, making sure she was still consumed in her sewing. Along with his own pounding heartbeat, he heard his step-mom humming to a song as she happily sewed. That bitch was going to pay for everything she ever did to Kyle.

Kyle held the knife high in the air, ready to strike down on his prey but stopped himself. He wasn't having hesitations about the murder. His problem was that he wanted to see the fear in her eyes as he stabbed her, ripping all signs of life from her body. God, this was going to feel amazing. Kyle turned her chair around, causing her to release a string of curse words. Once she saw the knife, she immediately quieted down. Kyle smirked as the fear arose in her eyes. She let out a scream for Andrew, which results in Kyle slapping her across the face, his hand burning from contact. Her cheek instantly turned red and her screams were silent.

"Who's the stupid excuse for a human, now? Have fun rotting in Hell." He snarled.

The pounding of Andrew's footsteps running upstairs echoed the basement. Without another second to lose, Kyle plunged the knife deep into her abdomen. Andrew ran down the stairs, staring in horror at his mom and step-brother. Kyle knew that a stab wound to the stomach wasn't good enough. He quickly sliced her throat as if it was a stick of butter. Blood started to pour from her throat as she choked on the blood and struggled to breathe. Kyle watched as her cruel eyes finally shut and her body slumped to the floor, a puddle of her own blood surrounding her. He hated her with every bone in his body. She didn't deserve to live.

Andrew took off running up the stairs, just like Kyle had predicted. Andrew would call the police, completing Kyle's plan. Kyle wasn't worried about being in trouble because he planned everything out. Knowing he didn't have much time, Kyle held onto the knife and then plunged the sharp blade into his own stomach. He didn't stab himself deep enough to kill himself but to make it look like he was stabbed by Andrew. The police wouldn't believe Kyle killed his step-mom because Kyle would already be injured.

Andrew's fingerprints were all over the knife so no one would question who the killer was. No one would think that Kyle would stab himself. Making sure not to drip any blood onto the floor, Kyle quickly walked over to the nearby bookcase and removed his gloves, sliding them into a book, knowing it wouldn't be checked. This case would be closed in a heartbeat. No one would ever know that he used gloves or even had them. No one could trace the kill back to him because there was no evidence leading to back to him. Everything would be leading towards Andrew, which was exactly that Kyle wanted.

His plan was working out perfectly. Kyle walked back towards his step-mom's dead body, double checking that there wasn't any blood near the bookcase where the gloves were hidden. Later, Kyle would come back and dispose of the gloves. Kyle laid down on the ground next to his step-mom but making sure there was enough distance to avoid laying in her filthy blood.

Minutes later, Kyle heard the police thumping down the basement stairs. He wanted to laugh at the situation but knew he couldn't. He wasn't in much pain, only minor discomfort. He could thank his step-mother for the immunity to pain. One police officer ran over to his step-mom, finding her dead as a doorstop. Another officer reached Kyle, holding pressure down on his stomach wound.

"My brother did this to us. I saw the whole thing. He killed our mother and then stabbed me since I had seen too much. He's playing all of you. Don't let him lie and trick you. He panicked once our mother died and told me he was going to blame me for all of this and that I would be arrested once you got here. Please help me." Kyle cried out in fake pain.

Adding to his theatrics, Kyle started to cough and moan in pain as the paramedics arrived downstairs. The same police officer ran upstairs to stop Andrew. The plan was working out perfectly. Kyle was loaded on the stretcher and carried upstairs. He was set in the living room for a moment and that's when he saw Andrew, sitting on the couch with tears running down his face. Kyle always knew he was a baby. What Kyle didn't expect was for Andrew to lunge towards Kyle, ready to attack him.

"You sick monster. You killed my mom." Andrew screamed as two police officers restrained him.

Kyle wanted to laugh so hard right now. Andrew was only playing into the lies Kyle told. Andrew was making this worse and worse for himself. The same officer that found Kyle came over to him, shielding him from a deranged Andrew.

"Please don't let him near me. I'm afraid he will try to kill me again." Kyle said, causing the police officer to look down at him with sympathetic eyes.

"Don't worry, he won't be able to hurt you anymore." The officer said, assisting the paramedics to get Kyle to the ambulance.

"Andrew was always jealous of the relationship his mom and I had. He hated me and eventually, he hated her too. I can't believe he would go as far as to kill our mom."Kyle told the officer, letting a tear run down his face just for the hell of it.

Kyle was always secretly jealous of Andrew because his mom treated him like an angel, but now he was going to jail and wouldn't ever return. It would just be Kyle and his father. What Kyle didn't know was the death of his step-mom turned his dad into a heartless, alcoholic who hated life. His father changed for the worst, but Kyle never regretted getting rid of his step-mom and step-brother. He would redo it a million times if he had to.

After that day, Kyle recovered perfectly from his injuries and Andrew was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted murder. Since Andrew was a minor at the time, only fifteen, he was sent to a juvenile prison until he was 21 and then he would be able to negotiate parole. Prison must have changed Andrew because once he turned 21, he was denied parole due to constant fighting with other inmates. He was sentenced to life in a maximum security prison, no parole. He wasn't given the death penalty, which Kyle liked because then Andrew would live in a prison until he died, unable to get the easy way out by the death penalty.

Later on, Kyle became a police officer, hiding his horrid past from everyone. During the years before he joined the police academy, Kyle met Marcus, who showed him the fun way to live. Marcus was captured by the police the same year Kyle started working as a police officer. That's where he met Matt and Kelly. That's where his master plan came into play. He would get his friend back from the police and now he has Kelly. Just like when he was thirteen, his plan was working out perfectly now.

Kyle bent down to Kelly and held her hand. When she tried to pull away, he grasped her hand even tighter. He leaned close to her ear, tucking her hair behind her ear and whispered, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it."

Kelly still didn't look at him and continued to pull from him but failed. He had always been stronger than her. He leaned over and kissed her forehead and then let go of her and walked away, back to his friend. They were almost to the Bahamas and that's when their lives would start. Kelly would have to forgive him eventually and when that day came, she would be so much happier.
