《The Empress' Son》CHAPTER FORTY-TWO

___
"I told you, it sucks."
I remained dignified as I stared at the face-painting design on my face. It wasn't properly alligned to the cheeks and to the eye of my left face, much to my dismay.
But I don't have the conscience to say anything rude to the old man either, he was even all smiles and seems proud of his work that I sealed my lips instead of complaining. I respect elderly people so much that I can't even dare to complain.
I sighed, covering my face. "It's fine. The old man must be really getting older, but still has the passion to do his job."
Eldest sneered. "A talentless passion, indeed."
"Rude deity." I commented, making her laugh. Geez, I guess not all deity are somewhat the same to the angelic types or something.
Roaming my eyes around, I scanned the whole place again. The face-painting stall is a 7/10 for me. Now where should we go next?
"Let's go there." Eldest suggested as she pulled me along by the arm.
"Where to?"
She grinned. "A better place than face painting." Without warning, we teleported inside a stall where some mysterious stuffs are properly arranged on a shelf. Is this some 2nd hand book selling?
I gave Eldest a suspicious stare. "Are you sure you teleported to the right place?" There's no telling if this is really the place she claimed to be better than the stall from the face painting earlier.
"Weren't you just thinking about your so-called-family with a problematic expression?" She replied, which confused me for a moment.
Turning to me, she gestured for the books. "Have the fun of your life answering your curiousity about this world, Clydeur."
I froze on the spot, before roaming my eyes around to check if there are other people around who may have heard her statement. So far, it was only us inside. Where is the owner anyway?
Shaking my head, I focused on the main problem. "What do you mean?" I asked, masking away my nervous self. Is she able to pick up suspicions about my origin like she did on my premonition back then?
If you don't remember, you can check Chapter 30.
"You know full well what I mean," she replied, leaning her back on a shelf, a book floating in her hand as it flipped the pages on air. "Aren't you curious what this world is? Who Clydeur is? Who are the people of this world?"
From her words, I knew to myself that she already knows. She must be reading my mind since the beginning. So there's no point in lying or trying to find a way out of this conversation. The question is: Since when?
The book on her hand closed all of a sudden, before it flew towards me. "All yours," I looked at the book and gulped, then glancing back to her who grinned at me. "Mister Reincarnated Guy."
"Haha..." I lowered my gaze, clenching the book in both hands, feeling pressured from her intense gaze. It's not like I can do anything against a deity. I'm certain not even my method of altering my words on mind will help to cover up my thoughts. As she said, she's omnipotent.
So I guess there's no need for me to lie anymore.
"Don't worry," before I can even try to say something, she already beat me to it. "I'm not informing the Empress about this. If she knows about this, it will be the end of you. However," from the suspense of her words, I eagerly waited for her next words.

Upon seeing my reaction, she laughed. "Pfft, quit being weird like that. I've handled a lot of reincarnated people, so rest assured, you'll be fine."
"Wait-what?" Now it is my turn to squint my eyes at her with suspicion, making her seal her lips awkwardly and avert her eyes. "Hey, what was that? Other reincarnated people? There's more? are they? Where are they?"
She grimaced. "One at a time, Cly."
"You don't need to call me that," I huffed. "Don't you know my real name?"
Eldest smiled. "Ofcourse." Snapping her finger, the whole interior changed. From the suffocating aura from the cramped up space of a stall, it suddenly changed into a bigger, wider, and decent-looking place. The shelves are still the same, but there's an addition of cabinets, a desk, and two sofa to sit on.
"This will be a long talk, so why don't we sit down for a moment?" As she gestured towards the sofa, I sighed before nodding my head in agreement.
She casually plopped down as I sat down, crossing my arms as she crossed her legs. "Your sister's name is Ricalou Bautista, am I right?"
I flinched, surprised to see that even Eldest knows my sister's name. In the end, I nodded my head. There's no point in lying, and so I decided to tell her my name instead of letting her say it to me. It's better if it comes from me.
"My real name is ."
"Oh?" She held her chin in thought. "That could be a name to be separated to have two names. Why did you have such incompetent parents who named you with a name they just combined without much thought?"
I scoffed. "Well, why did you have the audacity to question my name when yours sounds weirder? Can't you be Youngest instead of Eldest?"
Silence swarmed around us, before I blinked my eyes, sweat suddenly rolling down my cheeks as I sealed my lips awkwardly.
But instead of getting mad, she chose to brush it off. "That's how it is. I've always wanted an uncommon and not-so-unique name. Eldest fits me better."
"Suuure, but don't drift away from my questions earlier." I remarked, earning a frown from her.
She rolled her eyes. "And here I thought I successfully avoided the question." Pointing at the book, she replied. "I've written everything I know of in there. So just read it."
"Everything that I want to know about this world in this book?" I asked, looking back at the mysterious book I have in hand.
"Well, I want to make things easier for you. The original Clydeur would want that, too." I stared at her curiously, wanting to hear more of it. She narrowed her golden eyes at me. "If you want to know, just read. I'm not a good talker."
I sighed in defeat, before slowly opening the book. The first page greeted me with words that I can't comprehend at first, but then it soon glitched and eventually translated to a language I know of.
Finally! English!
But I wonder what language this Empire has, I initially thought it was also English, but I'm not sure.
Wait, maybe there really is an English language here? I remember the Empress knows Japanese language, and Klydeur seems to know Korean language when he calls me hyung before.
Now this piqued my curiousity. "Eldest-" before I can ask anything, I widened my eyes at the person behind her. She looked up to me, confused.

"What?"
When I gave her no response, she took the initiative to follow where I am staring at, and so she looked behind. Surprisingly, she sprung up from the couch and protectively raised her arms, now standing beside me as I stay seated with confusion.
The man had long platinum blonde hair, his facial features were good-looking, almost like a sculpture from his handsome poker face. His glowing golden eyes stared directly at my silver orbs, before glancing briefly to Eldest who snarled at him.
"Why are you here?"
"Can't I visit a co-God?" His voice echoed coldly inside the room, my hands suddenly felt sweaty as I rubbed them to ease my mood, glancing between him then to Eldest. It was as if a sudden gust of wind and blinding light swarmed around us.
She have this scowl evident in her face, which gives me an idea that she's not in good terms with this golden man. He called her a co-God, then that means he is also a God.
But what is another God doing here?!
"A God like you don't need to spare time to visit another God like me." Eldest bickered, waving a hand to dismiss him. "Go on with your Godly life and leave me be."
He didn't listen as he stepped closer towards us. Each step he took made me squint my eyes, noticing Eldest snarl at him. His hand was about to reach out to her when someone swatted his hand away.
And no matter how I wanted to deny it, that someone is me. I stood up, slapping his hand away from reaching out to Eldest, my silver eyes glowed back at his stare. From that moment, I felt numb, as if nothing ever bothered me.
I should be in a nervous wreck for slapping the hand of a deity, but why am I like this?
The God himself stared down at me. I almost forgot I'm just a 10 year old kid, but I'm not that small to be stared down at!
Maintaining eye contact with him, I can sense Eldest blinking her eyes at me then to her co-God. "Interesting." The man spoke with such a low voice, it seems deeper than the rest of other fellow people with deep voices. Somewhat enchanting-
I glanced at Eldest who covered my ears, as she whirled her head towards the taller man. "Get lost, I know this person is interesting, but he's not and will never be yours."
"And so do you." He countered, making me understand their topic a bit. Are they saying none of them owns me? Well, obviously, nobody owns me since I'm not some property to be owned.
But she growled at him, golden eyes menacingly glared at him. "I saw him first, so he's mine."
"Huh?!" That caught me off guard, for a guy like me who died from my past life without ever having relationships, someone suddenly said that I'm theirs in my 2nd life? Not even my crush said the same thing before!
Even my sister would laugh at me for being a no girlfriend since birth. But funny as it is, she's a no boyfriend since birth either.
I hid away my flustered face with one hand, ignoring the dangerous stare of the other God whose name is not yet known. Hey dude, I'm not at fault here.
"He is yours?" He questioned, repeating what she claimed me to be. "Is this a first come first serve?"
The latter scoffed. "You heard it right. Now get lost."
"But who exactly is yours?"
There was a brief silence around us, making me blink my eyes from the suffocating tension. Before Eldest can respond, he continued his words.
"I shall see him for myself when you're not around then." He informed, before turning his back from us. Fortunately, I managed to hold back Eldest from raging at him, locking her by hooking my arms under her arms. Well, I suppose you get the picture, right?
Briefly glancing back, his eyes locked at mine. "And I believe we've met before, but you might not remember."
Ha, really? Observing him more, I suddenly noticed his features are familiar, but who was it?
"Remember my name this time." Flicking his hand, a small golden fire emitted from his palm. "Luminescence." And so he teleported to where the heavens know.
As soon as he vanished, Eldest finally calmed down. I let her go as she slid down the couch I sat earlier like a lifeless potato. "That bitch always manages to drain the living daylights out of me. It's making me age so fast."
"What does he mean earlier? Did I met him before without knowing?" I asked, crossing my arms. "I do think he looks familiar, but it's just as that."
"Well, if you recall the day we went to cherry's party back when you were around 5 or 6 years old, then that will answer your question." She responded nonchalantly.
Cherry? Is she talking about a cherry-blonde girl, Lady Mia Marveil?
I blinked my eyes, before I brainstormed all the events from 5 years ago. Everything flashed in mind before I suddenly remembered one kid who earned my interest before.
Right! At Lady Mia's party! The boy who looks just like Eldest! I think it was around Chapter 16 to 17, if you don't remember. He had platinum blonde hair and golden eyes, he must be the God I met today.
Ehem, enough of me breaking the 4th wall everytime. But still, I just wanted to make things clear.
Anyways, did he suddenly grow up as an adult? I'm sure he was a kid like me and the rest of the other noble kids back then. Even Eldest seems to be growing at the same pace as I do.
And what's with his name? Lumine-what? Luminescence? Isn't it the same as the word shiny or something? What, does he have other siblings named Fluorescence and Phosphorescence? I wonder if he used a different name when he attended Lady Mia's party before.
"It seems you remembered now." Eldest spoke, in which I nodded at.
"But why is he suddenly an adult?"
She shrugged, glancing at me with narrowed eyes. "Why are you curious?"
I flipped the pages of the book again as I replied. "I just had a thought. If he's a God like you and was around the same age as you when we went to Lady Mia's party before, why is he the only one who turned as an adult faster than you?"
Before she can respond to my question, I looked down at her. "I guess Gods can control their age?"
She blinked, before nodding her head. "Well, yes."
"Then, did you have a moment when you used to be an adult?" My curiousity sparked at the moment as I shot the question, making her stare at me blankly. "I'm curious. Will you look like him? Are you going to be different? I'm certain mama is prettier tho-"
I stopped mid-sentence, staring at her adult form with whatever this feeling is fluttering inside me.
Holy, don't tell me that Eldest is...
___
I survived our PTC hurray! Anyways, can you guess what adult form Eldest has? It could be a woman, a man, or a goat. Yea, I can't think of another choice so there goes a goat. Ehem.
Now smol otor is out!

The Girl Named Rino
Oh. Hello. I didn't see you come in. No, don't worry. I don't need to hear your name. I already know what it is. I also knew that you'd come up at around this time. But, at the same time, I also didn't know. It's very hard to put into words - but that's what happens when you become the Chaos God. Your psyche gets messed up, big time. That's even more so for me, who was already warped enough to confuse reality with imagination - and, even make the rest of the universe believe that it was so. But, enough about me. Let's talk about you. You seem to come from a very far away land. It's faint, but your presence is there - in a relatively primitive planet. No wonder, no one wanted to stay in, or conquer your region of the universe - there's nothing worth controlling there. Your existence, much like your entire solar system, also seems to be pretty insignificant. Tell me, is your race capable of destroying your own world? Oh, you're already well along the way? Global Warming? Pollution? Overpopulation? Nuclear weapons? Wow... it's been many millenia since I'd last heard of such ancient concepts from someone who is actually living through it. Still, good job getting that far. That means that your world is now, at least, worth considering as a possible place to install a World System. If I find the time, I'll try surveying it. You can just thank me, later. Oh wait! What kind of person am I, not even offering my guest any hospitality. I'm ashamed. Please, take a seat. What would you like? I have everything the multiverse has to offer, whatever it is you want - I can get. Ah! After we talk, would you mind, if I asked you to do me a tiny favor? There's this girl, I want to keep tabs on. She's in one of the Worlds that I preside over, it's called Aiarthe. But, for some reason, I can't see her - not directly, at least. All I need you to do, is check up on her from time to time. Whether you do it as a pure spectator or through someone else's eyes, is entirely up to you. Really!? You would!? Wow! Thanks! You really did me, a huge solid there! For agreeing so quickly, how about I get started on surveying that planet of yours, right now!? You can help yourself, to anything in the fridge! Well, see ya!
