《The Empress' Son》CHAPTER TWO

It's been a week, and the maids seems to be more confused with my recent actions.
As a baby, I had the courage to pull myself up and almost fall down the cradle. But Jamie is my little angel, my savior, and caught me at her arms.
There was this time that I accidentally spilled the milk down the floor. The maids are annoying, and so I made them feel hell inside my room.
Other than that, I've been seeing jewelries hidden under some of the cabinets, and because of this, I chose to take those and hide them inside a hidden box on the floor.
I just happen to see that hidden box while I was playing down the floor with Jamie. Thankfully, she didn't notice it.
Days spent at my room while staring into nothing is quite boring. Just got to play with my loyal rattle, play a little with Jamie as always, stare at the ceiling or the maids, and decide what will I do if I grow up.
Aside that, I am also planning of not meeting my mother in this world. She was cold and harsh, and last but not the least, the Empress of this kingdom.
But I heard the maids talking about her, that she had completely forgotten about my existence.
That's a relief for me.
Because if she happens to spit those words like one of my dreams when I was about to be executed, I might not tear up but instead go in a killing spree before the day of my execution, ignore that brother of mine and take the throne.
Okay, I don't think that is good since that's a crime. The best option is just live a simple life as an outcast and neglected prince.
Sounds boring.. but do I have another choice?

Two months has passed. My life here is spent by feeding me milk as always, continue on playing with my undying rattle and some other toys, and I finally got to crawl down better on the floor. Jamie seems pleased to see me growing little by little.
"His highness, would you like to see this?" I looked up to Jamie whose holding a thick red book. "It's all about the emperors, empresses, kingdoms and sorcerers."
I felt my eyes twinkled as I stretched my arms up. She cooed at me as she lifted me up, placing me seated on her lap as she opened the book infront of me.
"The very first Emperor of this kingdom, " A man who had long black ash hair stood firm and proud at the picture.
"Eewukeya." If I'm not a baby, I must have snorted and pronounced the words better than that, but what I meant is 'I don't care'.
She kept on flipping the pages and all of it were Emperors with the last name Xi Vermillion, together with their Empresses and the crown princes. But then it reached to the female whose sitting in the throne, long black hair, and her bangs almost covered her eyes. She had that unreadable expression, somewhat unexplainable.
Is that how an Empress look? She must be a plain looking one. And is she really the Empress? Judging by their eyes which is Silver, she must be really the Empress and the first female to rule the kingdom on her own, without any Emperor.
I felt my tiny hand touched the picture, and Jamie gasped at my sudden action. "My, my, our prince is indeed wise like his mother." She proudly said as she pointed the female on the picture. "She's familiar, right?

Squinting my eyes, I eyed the female in the picture and she is indeed familiar. Was she the female in my dream last time?
"She is the very first Empress to rule this kingdom, without having the Emperor due to personal reasons. ."
Oh really? Okay..
Wait..what?
My mind turned blank for a second, before her words buffered in my head. Still, I'm confused.
I blinked my eyes as I looked up at Jamie. She seems to understand my confusion, so she repeated my mother's name. "Empress Aureus Lilith Xi Vermillion, his highness' mother." She touched my cheek and smiled. "And you are , her eldest son."
What the..
I'm.. Clydeur Aurum Xi Vermillion, the eldest? And speaking of eldest, that means I have a brother of mine.
Wait, wait, why.. this world is too gruesome and I'm too much confused.
I would likely accept the fact that I am the prince who is hated by almost the whole continent, but me being the eldest and this woman had me killed for no reason?
Hell no.
Clenching my small hand into fist, I started hitting the innocent picture. "Beez dya dayu!" And I meant 'Bitch just die!'.
She isn't worth my tears, and if ever she repeated thesame words that I'm a spitting image of a demon, then I'd gladly tell her that I got it from her since she's the demon herself!
"My, my, his highness really misses the Empress." Jamie cooed, thinking that my brutal act of hitting the innocent picture shows my affection for my mother.
That's it! When I grow up, I'll fight for my right! The first born is always the heir and the first in line for the throne, not the first in line to be executed in the way of being beheaded! That other brother of mine must back off, or else I'll have him taste my wrath.
"About the Empress' youngest son, your brother's name is . You're names are both relevant to each others." She added with her angelic smile.
Klydeur Aurarius Xi Vermillion, my brother and the youngest son of the Empress whom she loves dearly.
My tiny fist is dying to meet their face right now.

I, Mor-eldal: The Necromancer Thief
As a budding little necromancer, I soon discovered that the world of city people is complicated. When my master kicked me out of the cave, he warned me not to talk about my “dark” magic, because people here don't like the undead. I am not really an undead, I just have a skeleton hand, but it is better to be careful. Anyway, that's not my biggest worry. In the Black Dagger brotherhood, I learn a lot of things, such as illusionist magic, which turns out to be quite handy to survive in this maze of streets: in the Cat Quarter, we have thugs of all kinds that are best avoided. But we also have good people, goodhearted “gwaks”, as we say around here. Little did I know that I would soon be caught up in an infamous traffic that would entangle my life even more. With a mix of lighthearted adventure and picaresque, this story narrates the hectic life of a good-spirited street child and his companions in a medieval urban fantasy setting with some nineteenth-century influences. Updates Mondays and Fridays. This is a Creative Commons By work. It is a translation of a trilogy I wrote in Spanish between 2017 and 2018.
