《A beautiful mistake》72

Her week had taken quite the somersault, she couldn't imagine that just a while ago she was in New Zealand worrying about what to cook for supper and the foundation's well being. Now she was worried about more trivial things, if Marcus had gotten released today as Roman had promised, if it was right to even go back to Roman and how Kylie would take the whole situation.
She had been cooped in the condo for hours now, the logical thing at the moment was to start packing. To start preparing for a new life as Mikaella Sandoval Cervantes.
Kylie was in her bedroom sleeping after an exhausting morning of playing horsie as she called it with Knuckles. Pouring the last of the coffee in her mug, she grabbed the mug heading to her bedroom to occupy herself with packing clothes she didn't really like into suitcases she hadn't even bought.
"I don't even like yellow",she sighed looking at the bright yellow dress on her bed.
The other dresses next to her bed were even brighter than that one which made her question whether her then husband Roman knew her tastes. If they had lived together for so long, he should have known that she didn't like bright clothes and neither did she like clothes with dull colors, she preferred white or blue.
Thud. And another thud.
The thing about fear was once you got that ill feeling of something bad about to happen your body automatically became paralyzed. That's what fear did, paralyzed you and made you give in to the fact that there was nothing you could do to get out of whatever it was that was coming. Fear made one weak, as they always say.
Fear made her weak at the moment so much that her legs weren't moving but her heart beat faster making it even harder to breathe. She couldn't ignore the fact that she heard the men outside her door drop on the ground like flies. Her mind worked things fast, put two in two together and resolved to one thing, that someone had shot the guards or knocked them out.
She even heard the main door slowly being opened and it was like watching a thriller film where you want to yell to the main character to get under the bed and hide from the monster. But would she hide under the bed while her daughter was asleep the next room with a monster lurking around? Ofcourse she wouldn't.

She was afraid. The kind of afraid where your whole body trembles and your tears are just by the brink of your eyes. She grabbed the lamp on her nightstand disconnecting it from the socket on the wall. If it was a thief, she would easily knock the glass on his head bearing him unconscious.
With stealthy steps, she opened her door slightly peeping around to see if anyone was there or her mind was playing tricks? She wasn't just going to ask if someone was there. What if indeed there was someone in the house and he followed her voice to attack her?
Seeing no one around, she declared that the intruder must have been in the living room. Taking in deep breaths and her grip firm around the lamp, she opened the bedroom door walking towards the living room cautiously.
And as soon as she stepped foot in the living room, a callous hand went around her neck and within a matter of seconds it had already crawled up to her mouth pushing the white handkerchief against her nose and mouth. With that she panicked in realization that, the guy was trying to drug her;make her unconscious and she wouldn't let that happen, her innocent kid was in the house too.
She muffled, tried to fight herself free from his clutches. The cord connected to the lamp hit the exterior glass part of it lightly and only then did she remember that she had a glass lamp in her hands. Her eyes were starting to give in, she also could feel herself fading to the light but with one attempt, she lifted her right hand, smashing the glass lamp on his head.
Immediately he winced in pain falling back to the wall while Mikaella crawled to the ground coughing and catching her breath. She took one of the biggest glass pieces from the lamp that were smeared to the ground intent to kill come what may.
And when she thought the fight was nearly over, like how fast and painful a bullet got into contact with a human body, she felt something hit her head. Something that she could have swore had cracked her skull open because immediately blood oozed down her forehead. Her own blood.

"You just couldn't die",the guy spoke and Mikaella turned her head feeling the weight of a thousand pounds placed on her head.
"J-James?" She gasped.
"Y-you should have died! You should have remained dead! This wasn't my fault. He made me do it, do you understand? He has my family! He is threatening my family because you couldn't stay dead!",he shouted touching his head with the bloody gun in his hands.
Her head stung and like water rushing to an empty well everything came back. Every memory came rushing into her head without warning and she groaned in pain touching her bloody head.
ᕦ
She had seen the video of Roman and Kevin abandoning a pregnant woman to die by the road. Not willing to stand it any longer she took her car keys running out of the building like a scorned woman.
At first she thought it was strange that James was standing by her car the moment she got to it. She asked herself what James was doing there when he in the first place was the one who drove Roman and Seth to the church. At the state she was in, she didn't want to talk. Let alone to anyone.
"Ma'am. Sir Roman told me to pick you up. They are already waiting for you in the church",James had said.
With the anger she had, she hadn't questioned why Roman would send James to pick her up when he knew that she would be arriving together with the bride and all the bridesmaids to church.
"I can go there by myself",she cried.
"I'm sorry ma'am. You don't look like you are okay to drive. Sir Roman would be mad if I let you drive in this state",he had continued.
"I want to be alone, James! I-He...let him get mad if he wants"
And she had hopped in the car driving fast towards an unknown destination. She wanted to go far away from him. How could she look at Roman the same way after finding out the truth? How long had he and his brother kept this secret? Why-why would Roman stare at that woman dying instead of helping her out?
Many questions ran through her head that day and the fact that he kept calling her over and over pissed her so much. She hated him at the moment. She hated him because what he did was inhumane.
She had just taken another corner down the road when she noticed a car trailing her. A good look at the side mirror and James' face appeared. Why was he even following her?
His car tailed up to her, so much that her car and his car were driving side to side.
"I'm fine, James! You don't have to follow me",she shouted but she would never forget the evil look in his eyes when he intentionally ran her car off the road.
She had tried to avert the inevitable but James was relentless. He had bumped into her car twice and although she screamed at him asking him what he was doing, it all fell on deaf ears.
And just like the snap of a finger, her car sped up to the tree ahead and it was game over for her.
ᕙ
"You",she muttered faintly.
He caused her accident. James led to everything but why would he do that after many years of working for Roman?
"Goodbye, Mikaella. I hope you stay dead this time",he pointed the gun at her and when she thought she would die, someone intervened.
"Mom?"
No! She wanted to scream when James' turned facing a surprised Kylie. Mikaella hated herself because she couldn't do anything, not with her head stinging like it would explode.
It was a mother's nightmare watching your child being threatened by a gun. Watching your scared kid look at you in the eyes and ask for help and there was absolutely nothing you could do.
"P-please", Mikaella gathered up enough energy to say.
"You don't have to do this",another voice soared in the room and a pissed James turned to stare at the man standing by the door.
It was Marc.

My Good Friend Murphy
***Disclaimer*** I wrote and am writing this purely for my own amusement. That means that this could have major revisions done to it sporadically, it has more grammar errors than even the most mentally stable grammar nazi could withstand, and will not update at all regularly. This is an ad-hoc fun experimental work with forced motives, plotholes, and static characters. Don't expect too much. That said, this mutated mistake of a short novella follows a ditzy MC who has been transported to a new world with the dubiously useful skills origin and enigma and the obnoxiously imbalanced skill, traveler. If you'd like more incentive to give it a shot, you will never get spoilers about the plot because there isn't one (Actual synopsis coming soon, relative to eternity)
